In light of this, Razinsky wishes to analyze the existence of this phenomenon in the context of considering it as a basically rational character of mental attitudes. Of the claim is that rethinking ambivalence in the manner provided in this book will shed new light on the problems of personhood, rationality, and their relations.

The possibility of utilisation of an individually adjusted personal motorcar is one of important preconditions to undertake professional activities by persons with a considerable locomotive disability. This refers, in particular, to persons who move with the assistance of wheel chairs. Typical, serially manufactured personal motorcars are adapted to the requirements resulting from a disability. The original construction of such cars usually does not take into consideration specific needs of disabled persons. The objective of this study was to elaborate a list of specific car design requirements for a driver with a locomotive disability. The object of the performed analyses was the process of car driving (problems associated with independent loading and unloading of a foldable wheelchair were omitted). Furthermore, the authors did not study ergonomic issues associated with the maladjustment of individual devices adapting the car. The analysed data were obtained following interviews based on questionnaires submitted by disabled users of personal cars. All respondents moved about with the aid of wheelchairs and their disability was the result of injuries of the spinal cord (paraplegia and tetraplegia). The result of the investigations is a catalogue of specific ergonomic requirements regarding the operating space of the personal car driver.

Opis:
With a view to determining the dynamics and possible trauma sustained by a disabled person in a wheelchair in the passenger compartment of a bus, a physical model has been developed. The system, as the time function, generalized in the coordinates X(t), (t), was described by second-order Lagrangian differential equations. The proposed mathematical model allows for determining the motion characteristics of disabled people in a wheelchair in a bus that can cause injuries. This paper presents the curves of the change in coordinates of the angular velocity of the head and its center of gravity, as well as the curve of the change in the angle between the femur and the wheelchaior seat, through mathematical modeling and an experiment.

Times we live in make us question what is going to happen with the world after the pandemic. The struggle against COVID-19 and changes produced will have impact on the mind of many people. Some lose their relatives, who they cannot bury. Others live in a constant state of fear about their health and future living. The world will never be the same. People will never be as they were before this traumatic event. The invisible enemy – coronavirus – will leave a lasting mark on their memory. Many will need support which can be provided by specialist counselling. Many will struggle with a trauma, which will make the return to “normality” impossible for a long time. A traumatic experience is a psychological trauma suffered by a person and caused by a strong, sudden stimulus. This stimulus is intensive enough to cause changes in the areas of soma, psyche and polis, and it also directly threatens health or life of a person. People after a traumatic experience require a complex assistance to return to their normal functioning. Currently, this stimulus is a deadly virus. The article presents the role of the specialist counselling in the area of social work with a person and their family after a traumatic experience.

Is the Stoic sage a possible or desirable ideal for contemporary men and women, as we enter into difficult times? Is he, as Seneca presents him, the very best person for a crisis? In order to examine these questions, Part 1 begins from what Irene Liu calls the “standard” modern conceptions of the sage as either a kind of epistemically perfect, omniscient agent, or else someone in possession of a specific arsenal of theoretical knowledge, especially concerning the physical world. We contest this contentious conception of the sage for being inconsistent with the Stoic conceptions of wisdom, the technai and knowledge which can be gleaned from the doxographic sources. In Part 2, we suggest that the wisdom of the Stoic sage reflects the Stoics’ “dispositional” conception of knowledge, their substantive conception of reason (Logos), and their sense of philosophy as above all an “exercise” or askêsis of a craft or technê for living. It is embodied in an ongoing exercise of examining one’s impressions for consistency with what one already knows, looking back to the natural prolêpseis with which all people are equipped. In Part 3, we show how only this account of the wisdom of the sage, at the epistemic level, enables us to understand how, in the non-doxographic texts led by Seneca’s De Constantia Sapientiae, the sage is celebrated above all for his ethical characteristics, and his ability to bear up in a crisis. Concluding reflections return to our framing concern, as to whether philosophy as a way of life, and the ancient ideal of the sage, can speak to us today not only as scholars, but as individuals called upon to live in difficult times. We suggest that they can and should remain sources of orientation, contestation, and inspiration.

The goal of this paper is to investigate the communication emotions used by internet users when facing a situation in whichwhen a needy person asks for food; and, as well as to explore socio-emotional discourse practices for constructing a cultural image of a giver and a receiver of help. The results are discussed in light of Arlie Russel Hochschild’s concept of the emotion management and feeling rules and Candance Clark’s concept of sympathy margin.

The subject matter of the commentary focuses on the issue of the functional and grammatical interpretation of the notion of ‘a person perform-ing a public function’, which, in the author’s opinion, does not directly refer to the public offi cer referred to in Article 115(13) of the Act of 6 June 1997 Penal Code. The author highlights the unjustifi ed perception of a person performing a public function by the Polish justice system as being viewed as a public offi cer as defi ned in Article 115(13) of the Penal Code. The main arguments focus on the risks arising from an overly broad in-terpretation of the concept of a person performing a public function. In fact, the lack of a defi ned set of persons performing public functions may give rise to a malfunction on the part of the entity obliged to make public informa-tion available, and thus to the constitutional principle of limiting the right to public information on the grounds of privacy.The fi nal part of the commentary is a refl ection on making public infor-mation available under the provisions of the Act of 15 July 2011 on Control in Government Administration, and a starting point for a broader discussion on the need to amend the current legal system.

Numerous studies indicate that a person's lifestyle has a positive impact on their health. However, in spite of the predominant anti-health lifestyle, the average length of life in the past few decades has increased. What is the relation between a lifestyle and life expectancy? Does the lifestyle affect human life span? Epidemiological and prospective-retrospective studies were used to evaluate a 20-year long population-based experiment, which involved in-depth studies, analyses and evaluations of three related families who resided in the same community, had the same education level, and the same period of socialization and tradition. To evaluate the collected research material, the authors used their own: Scale for evaluating nutrition habits; Criteria to assess health behaviours of subjects; Criteria for diet assessment. The studied families led a similar lifestyle, with prevalence of anti-health behaviours. Theoretically, subjects should live a similar number of years. However, the length of their lives varied. Members of families with higher number of anti-health factors lived, in fact, longer. The authors confirmed the hypothesis that the lifestyle of the examined families was an important contributor to their health, but certainly it was not the only factor to determine their life expectancy. The length of lives of the examined family members varied despite a similar lifestyle.

Opis:
Paper describes the method of matching, to a map, trajectories of a person walking indoors, obtained from inertial navigation module. General principle of matching algorithm based on particle filtering is presented. Method of detecting particle collisions is described as well. The last chapter provides test results of map matching related to a true trajectory.
W artykule scharakteryzowano metodę dopasowywania do mapy toru ruchu osoby w środowisku zamkniętym, wyznaczanego przez układ nawigacji inercyjnej. Zaprezentowano ogólną zasadę działania algorytmu dopasowania, opar-tego na tzw. filtracji cząsteczek. Omówiono również metodykę wykrywania kolizji cząsteczek z przeszkodami. W ostatniej części przedstawiono wyniki testu działania algorytmu z użyciem trajektorii zarejestrowanej w warunkach rzeczywistych.

The concepts of recognizing elements of nature as having legal personality have been appearing for many years as proposals for a new approach to ecology. Recent years have brought specific solutions in this regard. Attempts to recognize rivers (but not only rivers) as separate legal entities can be found in various places around the world. This is not a common trend, only a few such cases can be identified in the applicable legislation. The article is devoted to the analysis of the best-known examples of this type of activity. In 2017, the legal system of New Zealand recognized the Whanganui River as a legal person. Talks are ongoing about further solutions of this kind. Apart from environmental protection reasons, the basic motives for this type of solution are cultural considerations – connected with Maori beliefs and values. In the legal systems of India and Colombia, the courts have attempted to recognize the rivers (Ganges and Yamuna in India, the Atrata River, and the entire Amazon ecosystem) as legal persons. The motives for this type of activity were primarily ecological – protecting priceless parts of nature from destruction.
Koncepcje uznania elementów natury za mające osobowość prawną pojawiają się od wielu lat jako propozycje nowego podejścia do ekologii. Ostatnie lata przyniosły w tym zakresie konkretne rozwiązania. W różnych miejscach na świecie spotkać można próby uznania rzek (ale nie tylko) za odrębne podmioty prawa. Nie jest to powszechna tendencja, tylko kilka takich przypadków można zidentyfikować w obowiązujących ustawodawstwach. Artykuł poświęcono analizie najbardziej znanych przykładów tego rodzaju działań. W systemie prawnym Nowej Zelandii uznano w 2017 r. rzekę Whanganui za osobę prawną. Toczą się rozmowy na temat dalszych tego rodzaju rozwiązań. Podstawowym motywem takich rozwiązań, oprócz względów ochrony środowiska, są względy kulturowe – związane z systemem wierzeń i wartości Maorysów. W systemach prawnych Indii i Kolumbii sądy podjęły próby uznania rzek (Gangesu i Yamuny w Indiach, rzeki Atrata oraz całego ekosystemu Amazonki) za osoby prawne. Motywy tego rodzaju działań były przede wszystkim ekologiczne – ochrona bezcennych części przyrody przed zniszczeniem.

Przekształceniom ulegają również role poszczególnych jej członków – niektóre ulegają rozszerzeniu, np. jeden rodzic musi wypełniać obowiązki obojga, a inne zawężeniu. Prezentowany tekst dotyczy ról, jakie we współczesnej rodzinie pełnią najstarsi jej członkowie, które omawiane są na podstawie wyników badań przeprowadzonych wśród pracowników instytucji pomocy w woj. podlaskim. Czy seniorzy są traktowani z szacunkiem czy też nie? Czy odgrywają znaczącą rolę w dzisiejszej rodzinie czy są raczej spychani na margines? Odpowiedzi na te i podobne pytania zawiera przedkładany artykuł.
Family, the basic unit of society, has always been exposed to changes caused by transformations of the surrounding reality. We are observing changes of the definition of family, changes of its functions, changes of everything that constitutes our everyday life. There are also transformations of the roles of family members – some are expanded, e.g. one parent must fulfill the obligations of both, while others narrowed. The presented text refers to the roles of the oldest members of the contemporary family, described on the basis of studies conducted among workers of welfare institutions in Podlaskie Voivodship. Are seniors treated with respect? Could they play a significant role in today’s family or is their role quite marginal? The answers to these and similar questions are included in the article.

This paper presents a qualitative analysis of a public person’s speech with its language and translation, and the way they can be manipulated to create a public image. As a public person, Lech Wałęsa has been subject to public scrutiny politically and ideologically ever since he became involved in public affairs as a trade union member and activist. Later, as a presidential candidate in the first democratic presidential election in post-communist Poland which he won in 1990, his publicity soared. Consequently, with his popularity came a heavier price of fame; he was subjected to strong criticism, and the way he spoke became a source of jokes and mocking nationwide. Public image is what others receive and read us by. It is an amalgamation of several factors – language being one of the major ones in creating one’s identity.
