    Multidrug resistance (MDR) of cancer cells poses a serious obstacle to successful chemotherapy. The overexpression of multispecific ATP-binding cassette transporters appears to be the main mechanism of MDR. A search for MDR-reversing agents able to sensitize resistant cells to chemotherapy is ongoing in the hope of their possible clinical use. Studies of MDR modulators, although they have not produced clinically beneficial effects yet, may greatly enrich our knowledge about MDR transporters, their specificity and mechanism of action, especially substrate and/or inhibitor recognition. In the present review, interactions of three groups of modulators: phenothiazines, flavonoids and stilbenes with both P-glycoprotein and MRP1 are discussed. Each group of compounds is likely to interact with the MDR transporters by a different mechanism. Phenothiazines probably interact with drug binding sites, but they also could indirectly affect the transporter's activity by perturbing lipid bilayers. Flavonoids mainly interact with ABC proteins within their nucleotide-binding domains, though the more hydrophobic flavonoids may bind to regions within transmembrane domains. The possible mechanism of MDR reversal by stilbenes may result from their direct interaction with the transporter (possibly within substrate recognition sites) but some indirect effects such as stilbene-induced changes in gene expression pattern and in apoptotic pathways should also be considered. Literature data as well as some of our recent results are discussed. Special emphasis is put on cases when the interactions of a given compound with both P-glycoprotein and MRP1 have been studied simultaneously.

    Opis:
    The goal of research is to perform a cluster analisys of the Bulgarian meat industry from the point of view of the logistics development. In order to study the state and development of the meat industry logistics in Bulgarian meat processing organizations, a wide range of statistical and analytical methods are used (comparison, group average, graphical method, cluster analysis and others). The date processing in done by a computer program for statistical date processing - SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences). The object of the industry is the meat processing companies in Bulgariq. According to the MFA Agro statictics for November 2010, the meat processing industry includes 65 factories for cutting red meat, 30 white meat slaughterhouses, 283 meat processing factories and the minced meat factories - meat preparations and mechanically separated meat, making a total of 378 companies in the industry. The result of the study show that logistics plays a vital role for the meat processing organizations, because of the growing demand for quality, price and speed of delivery of products. Successful management of logistics allows time saving through faster movement of information, details and products from one process to another.

    Information flows in the logistics and their volume become the starting point for considerations on the Logistics Information System - LIS. In order to select the most important information from the decision-correctness point of view, with the highest merit and in short time, appropriate measures and information techniques should be applied. Only computer techniques can handle with such an enormous amount of data and process them into valuable and useful information. The Logistics Information System is based on the broadly recognised ICT infrastructure, which constitutes the basis for application of further technical solutions. The popular document exchange technique is EDI (Electronic Data Interchange). EDI, as an inter-organizational system, ensures data and information transfer between companies, when pursuing the goals of logistics activity. With this technique, information is collected and transferred almost at every supply chain link.

    The paper presents the problem of material requirements planning with optimization of load distribution between work centers and workers’ groups. Moreover, it discusses the computational example for shop orders optimization. The data for this example were taken from the relational database. The method of Constraint Logic Programming (CLP) for shop orders optimization has been suggested. Using Constraint Logic Programming, the constraints may be directly introduced to the problem declaration, which is equivalent to the source code of the program. The ECLiPSe-CLP software system has been presented. It allows for solving optimization problems concerning dimensions greater than in the case of the professional mathematical programming solver “LINGO”. The application of ECLiPSe-CLP in accessing data from relational databases has been presented.

    Opis:
    The purpose of the article is to identify and characterize IT instruments and tools used in customer relationship management (CRM) and to present the results of empirical research. In particular, the article presents the essence and elements of the customer relationship management system (CRM), determines its importance in the functioning of the company and shaping business relations with stakeholders. Especially, a lot of space is devoted to a discussion on information technology in the development of CRM. A selection of more important IT tools supporting CRM are characterized, such as the database management subsystem, Internet services, social media (social CRM), cloud computing, ERP/MRP III applications and Big Data, highlighting their advantages and disadvantages and applications. The empirical section of the work contains a description, including the significance and benefits of use, of e-learning in the development of the CRM system and the conditions for its implementation.
    Celem artykułu jest identyfikacja i charakterystyka instrumentów i narzędzi IT wykorzystywanych w zarządzaniu relacjami z klientami (CRM) oraz prezentacja wyników badań empirycznych. W szczególności w artykule przedstawiono istotę i elementy systemu zarządzania relacjami z klientami (CRM), określono jego znaczenie w funkcjonowaniu firmy i kształtowaniu relacji biznesowych z interesariuszami. Szczególnie wiele miejsca poświęcono na omówienie technologii informatycznej w rozwoju CRM. Scharakteryzowano wybrane, ważniejsze narzędzia informatyczne wspomagające CRM, takie jak podsystem zarządzania bazami danych, usługi sieci Internet, media społecznościowe (social CRM), wykorzystanie chmury obliczeniowej (cloud computing) oraz aplikacji typu ERP/MRP III, Big Data, podkreślając ich zalety, wady i zastosowania. Empiryczny fragment pracy zawiera opis, znaczenie i korzyści wykorzystania e-learningu w rozwoju systemu CRM oraz warunki jego implementacji.

    A key contributor to corporate operations security is the availability of resources with provisions for replacement / substitution in an acceptable period of time in the event of shortage. This paper looks into three management approaches. Each has already been put into practice and well-known as well as bearing on business resource planning, which is considered by the author to complement one another and even be ready for combined use. These are the following the Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP II), the Business Continuity Management (BCM) and the traditional Process Management (process design and control). Highest importance is attached here to security of business processes as well as, or instead of, optimization calculations. The integration and common application of extended MRP II and reinterpreted BCM can provide new opportunities in process management.
    Kluczowym czynnikiem przyczyniającym się do bezpieczeństwa operacji korporacyjnych jest dostępność zasobów wraz z procedurami dotyczącymi wymiany / zamiany w dopuszczalnym okresie czasu, w przypadku niedoborów. W artykule rozważa się trzy podejścia do zarządzania. Każde z nich zostało już wdrożone w praktyce i jest dobrze znane, a także ma wpływ na planowanie zasobów biznesowych, które autorzy uważają za wzajemnie uzupełniające się, a nawet możliwe do łącznego wykorzystania. Są nimi: planowanie zasobów wytwórczych (MRP II), zarządzanie ciągłością działania (BCM) i tradycyjne zarządzanie procesami (projektowanie i kontrola procesów). Największe znaczenie przywiązuje się do bezpieczeństwa procesów biznesowych, jak również do obliczeń optymalizacyjnych. Integracja i powszechne zastosowanie rozszerzonego systemu MRP II i ponownie zinterpretowanego zarządzania ciągłością działania, może zapewnić nowe możliwości w zarządzaniu procesami.

    Multidrug resistance-associated protein (MRP1) causes cellular drug resistance in several cancer cell lines. In this paper we show that antisense oligonucleotides decrease MRP1 expression in human leukaemia cells. We investigated biological activity of a series of 12 linear phosphorothioate oligonucleotides, complementary to several regions of MRP1 mRNA. The oligonucleotides were administered to leukaemia HL60/ADR cells overexpressing MRP1 protein. Then, the level of MRP1 mRNA was determined by means of semiquantitative RT-PCR and the protein level by reaction with specific monoclonal antibodies. Some of the investigated antisense oligonucleotides decrease the expression level of the MRP1 protein by 46% and its mRNA level by 76%.

    Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are ad hoc and self-configuring networks having the possibility that any sensor node can connect or leave the network. With no central controller in WSN, wireless sensor nodes are considered responsible for data routing in the networks. The wireless sensor nodes are very small in size and have limited resources, therefore, it becomes difficult to recharge or replace the battery of the sensor nodes at far places. The present study focused on reducing the battery consumption of the sensor nodes by the deployment of the newly proposed Fault Tolerance Multipath Routing Protocol (MRP-FT) as compared with the existing Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy (LEACH) protocol under particle swarm optimisation based fault tolerant routing (PSO-FT) technique.     This study investigated the effects of inventory control system on customer service delivery in Chuka University. The objectives were to identify the nature of inventory control techniques used by different departments in higher learning institution, to find out the extent of adoption of inventory control techniques by different department in higher learning institution and to determine the effect of inventory control techniques on customer service delivery in higher learning institution. The study employed the descriptive research design and the use of questionnaire in data collection. The sample was carefully selected from the population of 250 employees by use of purposive random sampling procedure. Purposive sample of seven departments providing customer service delivery was selected and sample size of 13 employees was selected from each department depending on the number of employees who provided reliable information. The data were presented using diagrams and tables. Analysis was done using frequencies and percentages. Hypotheses was tested for significance of relationship between dependent and independent variables using the chi-square. It was established that the stocks were well managed in Chuka University departments. It was found that various inventory control techniques like the JIT, two-bin and visual review were moderately employed by the departments in Chuka University. 38.4% of the employees recommended the JIT technique to be used most frequently and 30.8% suggest the TBS not to be used at all. It was established that all the stock control system were employed in Chuka University and were fairly implemented. The findings of this study will be used by the institution to come up with the appropriate inventory control model that fully satisfies customer service delivery. The recommendation is that management of the university should provide continuous training to familiarize employees on appropriate inventory control techniques.

    The article deals with the logistic strategies enabling an enterprise to create a strategy flexible in terms of business and marketing and stable in terms of manufacturing.     W artykule zaprezentowano rozwiązania logistyczne umożliwiające przedsiębiorstwom tworzenie elastycznych strategii biznesowych i marketingowych oraz stabilnych w środowiskach produkcyjnych. Do utworzenia modelu strategii mogą być stosowane następujące zasady: krótsze okresy planowania zdolności w połączeniu z elastycznym planowaniem, zasada Syncro-MRP, stosowanie prognozowania w planowaniu operacyjnym, utworzenie z partnerami jednej z form współpracy w łańcuchu dostaw, łańcuchu popytu, odchudzonym łańcuchu dostaw, zwinnym łańcuchu dostaw oraz wykorzystanie systemów klsy DBR, APS i SCP.

    The paper discusses the problem of principle methods of production control as a strategy supporting the production system and stimulating efficient solutions in respect management in production enterprises. The article describes MRP, ERP, JIT, KANBAN and TOC methods and focuses on their main goals, principles of functioning as well as benefits resulting from their application. The methods represent two diverse strategies of production control, i.e. pull and push strategies. Push strategies are used when the plans apply to the first and principle part of production and are based on the demand forecasts. Pull strategies are used when all planning decisions apply to the final stage and depend on the actual demand or orders from customers.
    Artykuł podejmuje tematykę podstawowych metod sterowania produkcją jako strategii wspomagających system produkcyjny oraz stymulujących efektywne rozwiązania w zakresie zarządzania w przedsiębiorstwach produkcyjnych. Artykuł opisuje metody MRP, ERP, JIT, KANBAN oraz TOC, skupiając się na ich głównych celach, zasadach funkcjonowania oraz zaletach wynikających z ich zastosowania. Metody te prezentują dwie odmienne strategie sterownia produkcją, tj. strategie typu pull oraz strategie typu push. Strategie typu push używane są wtedy, kiedy plany dotyczą pierwszej, bazowej części produkcji i oparte są na prognozach popytu. Strategie typu pull, wykorzystywane są natomiast wtedy, kiedy wszelkie decyzje planistyczne dotyczą części końcowej i są podporządkowane realnemu popytowi, czyli zależą od rzeczywistych zamówień klientów.

    Opis:
    ABCC10 (MRP7) plays a role in cellular detoxification and resistance to anticancer drugs. Since ABCC10 gene transcription in human prostate cancer CWR22Rv1 cells was found dependent on E2F binding sequence motif, ABCC10 expression in G1 and S phases of the cell cycle of CWR22Rv1 cells, was analyzed. The cells were synchronized in G1 phase by double thymidine block and in S phase by thymidine/mimosine double block. ABCC10 mRNA level was found to be similar in S phase-synchronized and asynchronous cell populations. In G1 phase it decreased by 2.4- to 3-fold. It is thus inferred, that ABCC10 expression in CWR22Rv1 cells is not S phase-specific but is primarily associated with cell proliferation.
