This study focuses on the recent fall of many large scale department stores (Macy’s, J. C. Penney Company, Sear’s, Kmart) and other retail, pharmacy and grocery stores (Bebe, Whole Foods, CVS, Chico’s, Limited, Radio Shack, Game Stop) across the United States. The researchers set out to discover why stores that have existed for years suddenly had to shut down physical locations. The researchers hypothesized that these retail outlets have failed to properly attract millennial consumers. Marketers are endlessly attempting to find solutions on how to best attract millennials in this digital age. What appears to be evident, though, is that the habits of this demographic prefer the ease provided by online shopping. Secondary sources were reviewed to determine exactly why the stores have fallen. The millennial culture was a key component of the study. The results suggest that the stores failed due to improper targeting and in-store attraction.

Aim. A quantitative study on generational differences showed a decrease in optimism among the young generation (Karaivanova, 2016). The present work aims to study in detail the relationship between individualistic values, self-esteem, and optimism among the Millennial generation. Optimism is a general expectation for positive results and positive events in life (Radoslavova & Velichkov, 2005). Method. A sample of 204 respondents from 20 to 35 years old voluntarily filled in a survey containing scales measuring individualistic values, self-esteem, and optimism. The relationship between these variables was tested using regression and mediation analyses. The results were processed using the statistical software SPSS, version 22.0.0.0, and the lavaan application in R Studio. Results. The theoretical model created and tested in this study proved to have good explanatory power for the dependent variable optimism explaining one-third of its variance and gives significant clarity on the relationship between individualistic values, self-esteem, and optimism for the young generation in Bulgaria. Conclusion. Individualistic values turned out to predict self-esteem. The more individualistic a person is, the higher they perceive their competences and social image. At the same time, being individualistic, i.e. being open for change and following one’s own interests does not make young people look more optimistically towards the future and believe in the solution of every problem they encounter. Individualistic values have a positive mediated effect on optimism with self-esteem as a mediator. Having strong self-confidence makes young people have positive expectations for the future.

Although only identified as a distinct disease in the 1930s, it was soon apparent that Cystic Fibrosis (CF) had been present, but unrecognised, in European populations for many years – perhaps even centuries [1] . Within a decade of the early descriptions, the autosomal recessive nature of this genetic disease had been clarified, and its clinical features had been expanded. Secondary nutritional deficiencies complicated the underlying condition: the first clear description of CF as “a new disease”, which included a speculation about its genetic basis (because there were 2 pairs of sibs in the case series) was published as Vitamin A deficiency in children [2]. The diagnosis was most often made at autopsy. When it was suspected in life, the diagnostic tests used included duodenal intubation to obtain fluid which would show impaired tryptic digestion of the coating of X-Ray film in CF children, and measurement of vitamin A in the blood. Some nutritional improvement could be expected with simple, rather inefficient pancreatic enzyme preparations, but it was not until mid-century that antibiotics began to treat pulmonary infections effectively. As a young doctor in the 1950s I soon became aware that the median age at death for affected children was about one year, and most died before reaching school age.

In the research undertaken, the analysis categorised risk in the experience of the millennial generation of backpackers. An attempt was made to systematise it on the basis of the cognitive as well as emotional characteristics presented by the respondents. The research was conducted between 2018-2020. A non-random selection was used to acquire respondents called snowball sampling. 409 Polish millennial backpackers were found and interviewed online, and from this code keys were then extracted, assigned to meaningful categories, and thematic ranges were defined. The analysis of the collected qualitative material was used to establish a typology of risk for millennial backpacking. Analysis of the collected material on backpacking allowed five coded risk categories to be extracted. The first one was the backpacker's attitude towards travel; the second a search for autonomy and independence; the third selective calculation in terms of ‘profit and loss’, the balance determining behaviour; the fourth connected with the emotional needs of backpackers and the search for impressions; the fifth with external conditions involving risk related to environmental and cultural features of the reception area. Typological systematization of risk in backpacking allows the needs of this groups of travellers to be understood and service provision to be adapted to the requirements of a particular generation.

Conflicts in the workplace can occur due to differences among generations. In the context of public sector, it might be aggravated by bureaucracy system and the formal relation. This study explores the existence of conflicts caused by the differences between the young and the older generations. Data was gathered by using survey, FGDs and interviews. Participants are employees of The NADFC working at various locations, selected purposively. Completed data from 250 paper-based questionnaires was processed by SPSS Statistics using descriptive analysis and cross-tabulation. Result indicates that conflicts occur mainly due to the differences on technological mastery; orientation to change; and formal communication. Study also confirms the relations of the high intergenerational conflict to the job performance.
Konflikty w miejscu pracy mogą wystąpić z powodu różnic między pokoleniami. W kontekście sektora publicznego może to być pogarszane przez system biurokracji i formalne relacje. Badanie to analizuje istnienie konfliktów spowodowanych różnicami między młodymi i starszymi pokoleniami. Dane zebrano za pomocą ankiety, FGD i wywiadów. Uczestnicy są pracownikami NADFC pracującymi w różnych lokalizacjach, wybranych celowo. Zebrane dane z 250 papierowych kwestionariuszy zostały przetworzone przez SPSS Statistics za pomocą analizy opisowej i tabeli krzyżowej. Wynik wskazuje, że konflikty występują głównie z powodu różnic w zakresie opanowania technologii; orientacja na zmianę; i formalnej komunikacji. Badanie potwierdza również relacje wysokiego konfliktu międzypokoleniowego z wynikami pracy.

Nowadays, customer experience is one of the most powerful forces to increase customer satisfaction, customer loyalty, service quality, and company profit, especially for the cosmetics retail industry that is strongly influenced by the hedonic aspects. Therefore, this exploratory study aims to analyse plausible combinations of factors to reveal commonalities of online and offline customer experience with retail stores to support retailers in the alignment of the store system design with the promising profile of millennial women. The study uses a combination of several methods to conduct a comprehensive analysis, namely Eye Tracking (ET), Customer Journey Analysis (CJA), Retrospective Think Aloud (RTA), and In-Depth Interview (IDI). The analytical methods deliver qualitative and quantitative data to explore both positive and negative experiences from the customer point of view. The study reveals many possible factors that can bring positive or negative customer experience from a cosmetics retail store. Based on the findings, the design recommendations for offline and online cosmetics retail stores (physical, interface, and service systems) were made to help cosmetics retailers produce a positive customer experience. This paper provides two research contributions to the field of service experience. First, the study uses an original combination of four methods that have never been used to explore the experience comprehensively. The combination can increase the depth of this exploratory study in understanding the complexity of all customer experience dimensions. Therefore, this study brings a fresh perspective on the development of the method that can be used by many researchers in a similar area. Second, this study fills the existing gap in that area of exploratory research on customer experience in the cosmetics retail sector. This study could help many cosmetics offline or online retailers to improve their store system to bring a positive customer experience to millennial women as their biggest customer segment. This study could also inform the system design for new “players” in the cosmetics retail industry with valuable guidelines for a positive shopping experience at their store.

Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR 4.0) and Internet of Things (IOT) have become subjects of much interest in recent years and are expected to gain momentum locally and internationally when they become part of the core initiative of various governments. With the advent of the 4th global industrial revolution, the government recognized the importance of integrating the IR 4.0 initiative into the national agenda as a mean to keep pace with the latest advancements. In this regard, is the Malaysian workforce ready for the change? How is this being perceive by the millennials? Are millennials familiar with internet of things, FINTECH, additive manufacturing, big data or smart manufacturing? This study attempts to investigate whether or not millennials studying at local public university are clear about IR 4.0. In addition, the study attempts to seek millennials on various issues pertaining IR4.0. A survey involving 400 students of public university in Malaysia are being undertaken. The finding of the study indicates that 90% of the respondents have heard about IR4.0. In addition, 70% expressed that they have some understanding on what is happening and expected to happen in the Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR 4.0) in general. There are also concern with regard to the potential impact of IR4.0 on unemployment and the economy.

This exploratory study examines the factors that promote green purchasing intentions and understand the differences between the two generations, such as millennial and Generations Z, on green purchasing behaviour. Data collected from 372 respondents from two generations from three southern Indian states. Purposive and snowball samplings were adopted in the selection of respond-ents. The data was analyzed using the IBM SPSS 23.0 package using Factor Analysis, Pearson Correlation, Multiple Regression, and t-test. Subjective norms (SNs) had no significant association with Green purchase intentions (GPI). Variables such as media exposure (ME), environmental concern (EC), environmental knowledge (EK), and attitude (EA), Perceived Behavioural Control (PBC) had a significant impact on the GPI. Shopper’s purchase intention substantially impacted their buying behaviour of green products, and these results supported the TPB model. The ME, SNs, and PBC variables did not show any behavioural differences between the two generations. Still, variables such as EK, EC, EA, and GPI showed a behavioural difference in purchasing green products.
Praca przedstawia czynniki, które promują zakupy ekologiczne i pozwalają zrozumieć różnice między dwoma pokoleniami: „millenialsów” i pokolenia Z w badanym aspekcie. W pracy wykorzystano dane zebrane od 372 respondentów reprezentujących dwa pokolenia pochodzące z trzech południowych stanów Indii. Dane analizowano za pomocą pakietu IBM SPSS 23.0, przy użyciu analizy czynnikowej, korelacji Pearsona, regresji wielorakiej i testu t. Subiektywne normy (SN) nie miały istotnego związku z intencjami zakupów zielonych (GPI). Zmienne, takie jak ekspozycja na media (ME), troska o środowisko (EC), wiedza o środowisku (EK) i nastawienie (EA), postrzegana kontrola behawio-ralna (PBC) miały znaczący wpływ na GPI. Zamiary kupujących znacząco wpłynęły na ich zachowania zakupowe dotyczące produktów ekologicznych, a wyniki te zostały potwierdzone przez model TPB. Zmienne ME, SN i PBC nie wykazały żadnych różnic behawioralnych pomiędzy dwoma pokoleniami. Mimo to zmienne, takie jak EK, EC, EA i GPI wykazały różnicę w zachowaniu przy zakupie produktów ekologicznych.

The qualitative study presented in this paper aimed to collect beliefs about learning and teaching English as a foreign language (EFL) from individual representatives of the generation frequently referred to as the millennials. The participants were 47 pre-service EFL trainee teachers from four socio-cultural contexts: Finnish, Israeli, Polish, and Spanish. Their voices have been considered because beliefs are dynamically related to actions and soon the millennial EFL teachers may implement them in the course of their teaching. The contextual approach, followed in this research, provided opportunities for discussing similarities and differences in the beliefs of Finnish, Israeli, Polish, and Spanish pre-service teachers. The identified similarities lead to outlining a tentative picture of a universal, future, post-pandemic EFL classroom.

The demand for food products is gradually increasing, which is why understanding consumer behavior in the convenience food market is an important issue. Knowledge in this field may be useful in the process of developing marketing strategies. The purpose of the article is to present the attitude towards convenience food of the representatives of Generation Y (also known as millennials). Literature analysis and results of the author’s own surveys were used in the research proceedings. The research was conducted on a group of 364 millennial consumers living in the border area of Southwestern.
Zapotrzebowanie na żywność wygodną zwiększa się stopniowo, dlatego zrozumienie zachowań konsumentów na rynku żywności wygodnej jest ważnym zagadnieniem. Wiedza z tego zakresu może być przydatna w procesie formułowania strategii marketingowych. Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie stosunku do żywności wygodnej przedstawicieli pokolenia Y. W postępowaniu badawczym wykorzystano analizę literatury oraz wyniki własnych badań ankietowych. Badania przeprowadzono w grupie 364 konsumentów reprezentujących generacje Y, zamieszkujących tereny przygraniczne południowo - zachodniej Polski.

The main aim of the study is to identify the most important conditions favoring the development of the Lubusz wine market, with particular emphasis on examining the involvement of young buyers (Millennium generation) in the purchase of Lubusz wines and the impact of factors determining their behavior, including situational ones related to the purchase and consumption of wine, as a generation in an increasingly more responsible for expanding the market. In addition, determining the demographic and economic profile of consumers consuming regional Lubusz wines, as well as proposing practical solutions for building a competitive advantage by the wine industry and wine sellers based on factors shaping the purchase of regional Lubusz wines. In the research procedure, the authors used literature analysis and survey research conducted among young consumers from the Lubusz Voivodeship. The research shows that the purchase of wine is associated with young consumers’ perception of it as supporting the Lubusz region in its development. However, the purchase determinants include taste, quality, bouquet, and positive information about the wine. In turn, the main reasons for not making purchases are not drinking alcohol and too high a price.

“Synodality is a style, it is walking together, and it is what the Lord expects of the Church in the third millennium” (Francis). The specific motto and wording of this study in the quoted “programme” thought of Pope Francis, articulated in the Address to Members of the International Theological Commission (2019). The Pope expresses appreciation for the extensive work of the Commission crowned with the “theological clarification” of the mentioned idea, and above all by demonstrating the importance in the perception of the mission of the Church today. If, in the opinion of the Holy Father, factual and competent expert argumentation, step by step, reveals the truth that “a synodal Church is a Church of participation and co-responsibility,” such a determination cannot remain without impact on the praxis of undertaking the most serious pastoral challenges of the present time — on various levels of realization: local, regional, and universal, including ecumenical commitment. This applies in its entirety to the creation of strategies and specific actions of the Church towards the growing phenomenon of human mobility, especially in its forms that manifest themselves as dramatic and devastating to families and individuals. What we mean here is the Church’s multi-track postulate — or more precisely: communion, synodal — efficiency (with its determinants: dynamics, efficiency, effectiveness), for which in 2016 Francis coined the term: “accompanying migrants”. Consequently, in recent years there have been a number of normative and operational activities of the present successor of St. Peter, which in our time — rightly called: “the era of migration” (Francis) — set a new trend of clothing/embellishing the aforementioned critical area of salus animarum with synodal accents. As it is showed in the study, a canonist, with the horizon of the principle of ius sequitur vitam before his eyes, cannot remain passive towards the pressing challenges delineated here. Indeed, within the orbit of the study of canon law a weighty question appears — what conclusions of a canonical nature stem from the “millennium” project of the realization of the Synodal Church Idea.

Opis:
The historic event of the Korean Youth Independent Movement during the Japanese colonial period in Indonesia, which involved soldiers from Korea, has become a point of interest for Indonesian people, especially Indonesian millennials and historians. Since Indonesia’s independence from the Japanese colonial rule in 1945, Indonesia has gone through various difficulties and faced political crises, just as Korea has. This article discusses the social and cultural factors, particularly Indonesian millennials’ activities and interests which influence the study of Korean history in Indonesia. At several points, this research shows that the millennials’ mastery of the Korean language is important for the development of Korean historical studies in Indonesia. Applying the desk review method, this research finds a great interest among Indonesian millennials to study Korean history. One of the encouraging factors is the role of Korean history reviewers who bring Korean historical sources closer to Indonesian audiences through seminars that are intended for not only scholars, but also other millennials and the general public. The growth of Korean language users should be an important instrument to further develop not only the study of Korean history, but also diplomatic relations between Korea and Indonesia.
Wydarzenia dotyczące Koreańskiego Niepodległościowego Ruchu Młodzieżowego, które miały miejsce podczas okupacji japońskiej w Indonezji i dotyczyły koreańskich żołnierzy, stały się obszarem zainteresowań Indonezyjczyków, a zwłaszcza historyków i pokolenia milenijnego. Od czasu wyzwolenia się spod okupacji japońskiej przez Indonezję w roku 1945, , Indonezja, tak, jak Korea, doświadczyła wielu trudności i kryzysów politycznych. Niniejszy artykuł skupia się na czynnikach społecznych i kulturowych, szczególnie na działaniach indonezyjskiego pokolenia milenijnego oraz ich zainteresowaniach, które wpływają na indonezyjską edukację w zakresie koreańskiej historii. Pod wieloma względami tekst ten ukazuje, jak ważne dla rozwoju koreanistycznych studiów historycznych w Indonezji jest pogłębianie umiejętności językowych w zakresie języka koreańskiego. Artykuł bazując na metodzie przeglądowej, wskazuje na duże zainteresowanie edukacją w zakresie koreańskiej historii wykazywane przez indonezyjskie pokolenie milenijne. Jednym z czynników zachęcających do tego jest rola krytyków historii Korei, którzy przybliżają koreańskie źródła historyczne odbiorcy indonezyjskiemu w drodze seminariów nie tylko skierowanych do naukowców, ale i innych millenialsów i ogółu. Zwiększenie się liczby użytkowników języka koreańskiego stanowić będzie ważny element do dalszego rozwoju nie tylko edukacji historii koreańskiej, ale i relacji dyplomatycznych między Koreą a Indonezją.
