Opis:
Purpose: The aim of this publication is to present the methods currently in force in Poland for determining the amount of social benefits. Design/methodology/approach: Qualitative and quantitative secondary data analysis. Data were collected from governmental organization reports and analyzed using Excel. Findings: It can be stated that the social assistance system in Poland benefits from statistics on the prices of goods and services and the cost of living of households according to the number of households and their age. Thanks to these data, it is possible to determine the value of the minimum subsistence level, the minimum subsistence level, the WDR threshold and the Social Intervention Threshold. The values of these indicators are set in different time horizons - the minimum subsistence level on a monthly basis, and the GVA level once every 3 years. In this way, the state authorities determine the income criterion entitling individuals to receive social assistance benefits. Originality/value: Detailed calculations and summaries of the Income Support Threshold and Social Intervention Threshold for different social groups were made.

Opis:
The actual load-bearing capacity of elements of a building system can be calculated by dynamic parameters, in particular by resonant frequency and compliance. The prerequisites for solving such a problem by the finite element method (FEM) are presented in the article. First, modern vibration tests demonstrate high accuracy in determination of these parameters, which reflects reliability of the diagnosis. Secondly, most modern computational complexes do not include a functional for calculating the load-bearing capacity of an element according to the input values of resonance frequencies. Thirdly, FEM is the basis for development of software tools for automating the computation process. The article presents the method for calculating flexural stiffness and moment of inertia of a beam construction system by its own frequencies. The method includes calculation algorithm realizing the finite element method.

While a ship is sailing, wind is acting upon the ship hull above water. As a result, additional resistance, as well as transfer drift force and drift moment emerge. The article presents an approximate method of calculating these forces for bulk carriers, in the form useful at preliminary ship design, when only basis ship dimensions are known.

Mathematical models are commonly used at the stage of piston ring design and during examination of ring collaboration with liner surface. Both analytical and numerical methods are used for development of such models. In the case of models based on analytical methods the range of their application is usually limited only to selected cases while the use of numerical methods allow to widen the range of their applications but their accuracy depends on increment used. The paper presents a procedure of verification of the piston ring mathematical model constructed by the authors using numerical methods. Conformity between the results obtained using this program and the results of analytical calculations concerning the displacement of ring free ends brought about by the acting loads was the aim of the analysis. Exemplary computations were carried out for three compression rings of different geometry. Regarding the conformity of achieved results as satisfactory for practical use probable causes of observed discrepancies were pointed out. Relations between energy accumulated in curved bar and loading force (according to the Castiliano's theorem) were used in a course of calculations. Exemplary calculations were carried out for compression rings of three types engine, i.e. automotive, bulldozer and marine ones. A probable cause of differences between results of calculations carried out according to various analytical methods have been pointed out assuming their accuracy as satisfactory for practical purposes.

Opis:
Determination of shear-load-bearing capacity of reinforced concrete beams (according to the current normative documents), comprises particular recommended values, which do not depend on the parameters of the sample or load. This article de-scribes the methodology for determination the shear strength with suggestions for calculation the coefficient CRd,c and compressed element tilt angle Ѳ while reinforced concrete elements` calculation with the use of “truss model”. In order to confirm the methodology 4 reinforced concrete beams were tested. Tests were performed in order to investigate each particular inclined section separately. Variable parameter was the relative shear span a/d, with its values a/d=2, a/d=1,5 and a/d=1. Another parameter was the usage of composite strengthening system, made for relative shear span a\d=2. Samples were tested as single-span beams subjected to short-term loading. The calculation with the use only the values, given in norms showed significant divergence of results. Using the refined parameter values provided the convergence of results within 16-29% toward overestimation of the experimental data. The composite reinforcement system calculation showed the overestimation of 23%, which is within the same limits as for the control samples.

During preliminary stages of ship design, decisions on ship properties are made only with little knowledge on ship hull geometry – a ship designer has only the basis dimensions at his disposal. Therefore on these initial stages of ship design, methods of calculation of ship properties (eg. resistance) on the basis of basic design criteria are indispensable. The article presents a new method of calculation of bulk carriers resistance which proves exact even with a minimum number of geometrical parameters of a ship’s hull.

The paper proposes an iterative method of calculation of modified, originally circular-symmetric structures. The method applies a cyclical (or quasi-cyclical) stiffness matrix of the original structure in each iteration step. A lot of modified systems which differ considerably from circular-symmetric ones (lack of some elements, strengthening, additional supports) have been calculated. The obtained results indicate that although the algorithm is not unconditionally convergent, exact solutions are often received even for considerable changes in the original structure. Operations on considerably smaller matrices than the full ones describing a system completely, compensate for the necessity of performing a greater number of iterations than when applying other methods of modification.
W pracy zaproponowano iteracyjny sposób obliczania modyfikowanych konstrukcji pierwotnie kołowo-symetrycznych, w którym na każdym kroku iteracji korzysta sięz cyklicznej (lub quasicyklicznej) macierzy sztywności konstrukcji pierwotnej. Wykonano obliczenia wielu modyfikowanych układów znacznie różniących się od kołowo-symetrycznych (brak niektórych elementów, wzmocnienia, dodatkowe podpory). Uzyskane wyniki wskazują na to, że chociaż algorytm nie jest bezwarunkowo zbieżny to nawet przy znacznych zmianach w konstrukcji pierwotnej uzyskuje się często dokładne rozwiązania. Działanie na macierzach znacznie mniejszych od pełnych macierzy opisujących układ znacząco rekompensuje koniecznośś wykonania wiekszej liczby iteracji niż przy korzystaniu z innych metod.

Universal method of calculation of radiation recuperators with microfinned surface were elaborated. The algorithm of method applied: model investigations of heat transfer and hydraulic resistance on recuperator elements with microfins, the surface ratio and micro-fin efficiency. The universal method of calculation developed in the paper makes possible the recuperator's design to industrial furnace.
Opracowano ogólną metodę obliczeń rekuperatorów radiacyjnych z mikroużebrowaniem. W algorytmie obliczeń zastosowano badania modelowe intensyfikacji wnikania ciepła i oporów przepływu elementów rekuperatorowych z mikroużebrowaniem, stosunek mikroużebrowania i sprawność mikrożebra. Ogólna metoda obliczeń umożliwiła wykonanie konstrukcji rekuperatora radiacyjnego do pieca przemysłowego.

The building envelopes with the open air layer are common in building energy-efficient houses. In such buildings, air gap is used for moisture elimination from a surface of external wall, which improves its thermal properties. To improve the thermal quality of building envelopes with open air layer and reduce the heat transfer rate during the cold period, it is necessary to conduct more in-depth study of heat exchange in the ventilated layer of air. The article presents a mathematical model of heat transfer through building envelopes with an open air layer for the cold season. In the proposed mathematical model connective and radiant heat fluxes were considered separately.

The work presents a calculation process enabling one-dimensional numerical calculations of labyrinth sealing. A DSV program determines the thermodynamic parameters of gas in the sealing chambers with extraction. The influence of the sealing length upon the stability of a matrix solution of the system of equations with the use of Cond(C) parameter is analysed. Next, the operation of the software extended with a module that enables determination of the initial pressure p0, to which the assumed mass flow for a set geometry and sealing length would correspond is discussed. The work analyzes Cond(C) and initial pressure values for various sealing lengths with an assumed leak value. The work also compares the values of static pressures on the extraction plane, as obtained from the measurements, to theoretically calculated values. The calculations and comparisons were made for various heights of incomplete sealing fissures.

Modern agriculture involves the implementation of a particular technological operation, according to the appropriate map-task, which is developed pre-based on diverse information. Knowledge of a certain structure of soil cover variability, obtained using information and technical systems of local operational monitoring of agro-biological state of agricultural lands, allows us to adopt effective operational decisions for efficient management of agro-biological potential of agricultural lands. Obviously, under such conditions, there is a need for fundamentally new approaches to agricultural production,which is to ensure the proper quality of technological operations. The quality of the implementation of technological operations is an integral indicator of the efficiency of production of agricultural products within the agro-biological field. The necessary quality of implementation of the basic technological processes in plant growing is provided by the integrated information and technical systems of operational monitoring of the agro-biological state of agricultural lands. In connection with this, the task is to obtain reliable data on the agro-biological state of the soil environment by reducing the error in determining the magnitude of the conductive properties of the soil, providing individual stabilization of the working electrodes and the mechanism of lifting / lowering working electrodes, copying inequalities of the soil environment, reducing the intensity of the destruction of the soil structure , self-cleaning of the working contact of the electrode and ensuring the stability of the electrical contact of the electrode with the soil, by instrument design perfection. The task is achieved by using the information and technical system of operational monitoring of the soil environment of the structure to determine the conductive characteristics of the soil environment.

The task is achieved by using the information and technical system of operational monitoring of the soil environment of the structure to determine the conductive characteristics of the soil environment. The purpose of the research is to determine the critical loading at the loss of stability by thin-walled working electrodes made in the form of working electrodes of various shapes (thin-walled solid, three-spit and four-spindle discs with different thickness of the rim). The information and technical system of localoperational monitoring of agrobiological state of soil environment of different configurations with one-side compression.

In the present paper the variant of computational methods of stability and initial post-buckling behavior of isotropic shells was generalized with respect to laminated composite shells. Using methods of the asymptotic analysis of the Timoshenko–Mindlin theory, the relationships for calculation of shells with the small geometrical imperfections of the different shapes have been produced. On the basis of obtained equations, the technique of calculation of a non-linear pre-buckling state, limiting loads and bifurcation, and also initial post-buckling behavior of laminated cylindrical shells at an axial compression and external pressure have been worked out. The results of calculation for the shells made of glass fiber-reinforced plastic and carbon fiber-reinforced plastic with multimodal imperfections and dimple imperfections have been presented. The features of transformation of the interacting modes of imperfections have been researched.
