The problem of sustainability is gaining more and more importance. It is because of the increasing pressure from the market and the public administration to improve the environmental and social conditions for all. The issue of sustainability is implemented into business and in particular into supply chains as an important element of management. Despite many works regard to the concept of sustainable supply chain there is still a lack of the complex models that will help to understand and identify the current position of the supply chain and give the feedback which actions are expected to be improve to achieve the next level of maturity. The main aim of the paper is an attempt to conceptualize the problem of maturity in supply chain in the context of sustainability. The improved conceptual model will be introduced.

Eco-design, a new stage in product development, has been gaining in importance for some years already. Against this backdrop, a series of studies was conducted aimed principally to assess environmental maturity of enterprises reflected in considering environmental aspects at early stages of product design when decisions are made, inter alia, as to materials that will be used, production technologies, and product durability. With regard to the above stated goal, the following actions have been recommended as necessary: at the theoretical level, identifying prerequisites against which we can assess the degree of environmental maturity using the reconstruction methodology and subject-matter literature review; at the project level, developing a research tool in the form of an evaluation sheet as a product of the exploration of writings and discussions held by a purposefully selected group of experts; and at the empirical level, identification of the eco-maturity degree of agricultural machinery manufacturers. In the context of the above stated goal, it seems justified to plan the studies based on literature review, expert knowledge, creative discussion, and direct interviews with selected representatives of the industry covered by the research. To managers, these studies having solid theoretical foundations should provide grounds for evaluation and inspire them to build their own eco-design strategies.

Opis:
Aim/purpose – The aim of this article is to present the concept of a multicriteria model of process maturity assessment (MMPM), which allows to assess the degree of implementation of process solutions with respect to three dimensions: short-term, long-term and systemic. Design/methodology/approach – The characteristics of the model presented in the article was preceded by a review of the literature and the analysis of secondary research related to the assessment of the degree of implementation of elements of the process approach in management. Findings – As a result of the review of the literature and the analysis of secondary re-search, a thesis was formulated that quantitative research using the existing methodolo-gies for identifying the implementation of a process approach in management is insuffi-cient in the precise assessment of the organization’s process maturity. This means that they should be extended to include qualitative research. The solution to this problem may be the use of a multidimensional model of process maturity assessment of the organization. Research implications/limitations – The application of MMPM makes it possible to assess the degree of implementation of the process approach elements using the opinion poll method. This means that the results may be subject to random or non-random errors, depending on the selection technique of the research sample. At this point, it should also be emphasized that in order to provide a precision assessment of process maturity using the MMPM, the questions in the questionnaire should be adapted to the specifics of the area under examination. Originality/value/contribution – The scope of this article fills in the research gap that exists in terms of assessing the process maturity of the organization in the long run, understood as defining the direction of development, stagnation or atrophy of implementation of process solutions in the organization. The concept of the MMPM presented in the article makes it possible to assess process maturity in three dimensions: short-term, long-term and system-based. In addition, the structure of the model enables the reconfiguration of the research questionnaire with questions of a self-reinforcing character by the respondent to questions, enabling the assessment of the level of maturity on the basis of symptoms.

There is some ambivalence with regard to how to improve strategic management of organizations. On the one hand, the example of big companies emphasizes the need for formalization and good organization of strategic management process. On the other hand, the example of small companies draws attention to such qualities as entrepreneurship, flexibility and adaptability. The concept of strategic management maturity embraces both of these priorities. In this paper, a framework for strategic management maturity has been designed. Strategic management maturity was defined as a resultant of: strategic management process maturity and leadership maturity. Theoretical framework was tested on a sample of 150 Polish enterprises.

The main objective of this article is to describe Industry 4.0 and the key manufacturing-technology-related technological and business challenges for manufacturing companies. The groups especially interested in the implementation of Industry 4.0 are the operations, technical, and production directors responsible for operational excellence of manufacturing plants, strategic development, and business continuity. Based on the latest Industry 4.0 and manufacturing technology market research, factories located in Poland are less technologically advanced than their counterparts in Western European plants. Accordingly, development of the model for assessing the current level of maturity for manufacturing technology related to the Industry 4.0 initiative becomes a relevant research task. In the article, key Industry 4.0-related technological areas will be described. Based on extensive research into international references and industrial consulting experiences in the industrial business consulting conducted in Polish manufacturing companies, the manufacturing technology ManuTech Maturity Model (MTMM) concept related to Industry 4.0 will be developed and presented. A substantial and innovative part of the article will be devoted to the adjustment of a proposed maturity model to specific features of the Polish industrial and manufacturing sector. This will be relevant due to the noticeable differences in the levels of technological advancement between the Western and Eastern Europe sectors.

The proper physical development of a child is the last criterion for achieving educational maturity. It is often underestimated; however, it is very significant in school activities, since a healthy, physically fit, and properly nourished child will be less exhausted by sitting at a desk, walking to school, or performing various tasks which may often seem challenging. The purpose of the paper is to evaluate the school maturity of kindergarten age and early school age children and their somatic and motor development in the context of their commencing school education. While verifying these general rules, studies on a group of 628 girls and boys aged 6 and 7 years were conducted in the city of Opole. The test prepared for this survey consisted of 7 fitness tests and body height, weight, and fat measurements. The results obtained have been subjected to statistical analysis. An analysis of the morphological measurement results and fitness tests demonstrate that both the six-year-old girls and boys did not attain the same level of physical school maturity as their 7 years old schoolmates. This level of maturity would enable them to withstand the educational requirements of the primary school curriculum.

Purpose: The purpose of this article is to present the relationship between the level of a manager’s maturity and their effectiveness in performing their role. Design/methodology/approach: This article is an overview that presents a new perspective in the perception and assessment of managers’ effectiveness, namely managers’ personality maturity. Findings: The conducted considerations show that the maturity of a manager’s personality determines the maturity level of their personal behaviour, which creates space for effective managerial activities. Research limitations/implications: It is recommended to continue empirical investigations using strong diagnostic tools, including personality diagnostics in a large research group of managers. Practical implications: The relationship presented in this article between the level of managers’ maturity and their ability to perform effective managerial behaviours at the organizational level creates a research area for determining the relationship between personality predispositions and their usefulness in the effective achievement of the tasks entrusted to managers. As a result, it is possible to shape the desired self-development conditions that are conducive to building and strengthening a mature personality. Social implications: If introduced as a permanent category in assessing managers’ effectiveness, personality maturity, understood as the ability to assume responsibility for one’s personal self-development, can significantly incentivise organizations to create space for managers’ psychological responsibility for the development of themselves and their employees. Originality/value: A close relationship has been identified between personality traits and their development and managers’ efficiency and effectiveness in achieving assumed goals. It is shown that a manager’s mature personality increases their chances of fulfilling expectations regarding the ever-increasing and more complex demands of their role.

We investigate the effect on firm performance of the motivation for applying maturity models in manufacturing and information technology organizations. We expect the association between profitability and maturity models to be less if motivated by external contract requirements (e.g., for certain government contracts), than if motivated internally to improve pro- cesses. Using a sample of firm-year observations for 1,105 SEC registrants in the manufacturing (Standard Industry Classification (SIC): 3600∼3812) and IT industries (SIC: 7370∼7374) for 2017 and 2018, and CMMI information from the CMMI institute published appraisal results system, it is observed that 28 public firms (17 IT firm-years and 23 manufacturing firm-years) in the sample had CMMI appraisals between 2017 and 2018. We use logistic regression to test if the likelihood of CMMI appraisal is positively associated with government sales. The results support for the manufacturing industry, but not for the IT industry, prior research’s assertion that maturity is a source for competitive advantage.

Using the firm-level panel data for Polish companies, we analyze the determinants of liability maturity with particular attention paid to the factors of financing constraints and information asymmetry. Consistent with prior research, we find that asset tangibility, liquidity, leverage and profitability significantly influence liability maturity choices. Additionally, we evidence that financing constraints may alter the impact of these factors. Companies identified as being financially constrained appear to have lower maturity of liabilities. Firms quoted on the main market of the Warsaw Stock Exchange are shown to hold a higher proportion of long-term liabilities compared to those quoted on New Connect, a stock exchange dedicated to young small cap companies. We also find that constrained status may determine firm’s financing decisions under crisis settings. Our empirical results show that companies experiencing financing constraints are likely to reduce liability maturity during a crisis, while their unconstrained counterparts may recur to additional long-term external financing in order to accommodate the repercussions of a trough. These findings contribute to the discussion of the financing constraints theory and shed light on some of the firms’ tactical financing decisions in an emerging economy

The article has been taken to reflect on the nature of educational and education activities, which provide support to a person in achieving maturity. For such action, we believe, above all, everything that triggers and develops in a person’s ability to live in harmony with each other, with the environment and the Transcendence. Inspired by W. Brezinka we think we are of the opinion that human morality, which is to support and lead it to maturity, an important role is played by religion. The rationale for this claim is primarily that refer to the human thinking and valuation gains a permanent and unchanging point of reference for action. Such attitude of man is spiritual sphere of man. Through it he reveals his beliefs and attitudes and accepted values. Thus it draws to man the way his conduct promoting a specific vision of life, a reflective attitude to everyday life, filled with respectful attitude to the world and hope for a life of happiness (immortality), which offers to man by God. On the basis of its reflection, we believe that morality is the common denominator of all dimensions of human life. For these reasons it is an undeniable and important element for the achievement of maturity combined with achieving inner harmony, which helps a person living in the community. It turns out that this process is the result of many activities in which an important function can also meet the religion. This observation requires more explanation to what extent can shape purchased by a person living competencies to achieve maturity. Its acquisition is inscribed in the process of gathering experience and discovery and acceptance for their own specific values. Grants to support such a person is a religion. A particularly important role to fulfill religious knowledge, which reveals the reality of human life in a new – the transcendent aspect. Its value lies in the fact that it supports the development of the ability to make moral judgments. This style of action is possible but only if the person appeals to religious faith. Faith promotes man in the adoption of absolute values. Understanding the importance of religion in the development of persons and reaching its maturity demands concrete actions at the level of educational and pastoral.

Opis:
This paper aims to propose and test a model facilitating assessment of tactical planning maturity in supply chains of manufacturing companies. The author proposes a model called Tactical Planning Maturity Model (TPMM). The model is created based on literature research, participant observations and data gathering conducted in two companies. The proposed framework combines both knowledge from supply chain integration and steps necessary to reach proficiency in sales and operation planning. The second step consists of choosing a case study method to verify model adequacy in two companies operating in central Poland. The findings illustrate the TPMM as a ready-to-use tool where the line to supply chain maturity is clearly drafted and results could be compared between production companies. This paper strengthens the link between practitioner and academic literature by providing empirical evidence of the benefits of tactical planning maturity model usage as well as its impact on further development of supply chains. This paper studied merely two companies and is not intended to be representative of outcomes for all companies looking to understand the complexity and maturity of their supply chains. Furthermore, the analyzed companies only reached level four in the maturity model; levels five and six were not observed. Further quantitative studies are required for testing the accuracy of the proposed model and potentially, qualitative studies could be undertaken in order to understand factors enabling the increase in maturity of tactical planning in the supply chains of manufacturing companies.
