In the era of dynamically developing unmanned systems and standoff ammunition, special attention should be concentrated on a new way to increase the viability of aviation differ from the concept of centralized single-capability air bases with advanced anti-aircraft systems. The concept of diversification of airports and landing sites, with the simultaneous location of multi-domain aviation task forces there, creates information saturation of the potential enemy and increases survivability of the force. Air bases become centers responsible for development of capabilities in order to establish properly prepared air forces task groups, capable to operate both closer to the FEBA (Forward Edge of Battle Area) and deeper into the own territory. This requires the creation of decentralized appropriate multi-domain logistics support systems. Provision based on autonomous logistic elements composed with resource packages located at appropriate operation level to firmly, flexibly and quickly secure aviation operations. The key is to depart from the philosophy of conducting operations, using specialized task groups of people and equipment, towards comprehensive multimodal and modular packages of combat and logistic capabilities.

The paper presents the simulation method for calculating the tail rotor loads and bldes deflections in directional maneuver of helicopter. The simplifed equation of yawing motion of helicopter was applid. The physical model consists of helicopter fuselage treated as stiffness body and tail rotor with blades modeled by elastic axes with distributed lumped masses. The rough control input of the tail rotor blade pitch allows investigate the tail rotor work including occuverrence of large stall regions.
Przedstawiono symulacyjną metodę obliczania obciążeń wirnika ogonowego oraz odkształceń jego łopat w trakcie wykonywania manewru kierunkowego śmigłowca. Parametry odchylania określano przy wykorzystaniu uproszczonego równania śmigłowca. W modelu fizycznym uwzględniono sztywną bryłę kadłuba oraz odkształcalne łopaty wirnika ogonowego reprezentowane przez osie sprężyste z układem rozłożonych mas skupionych. Wprowadzenie funkcji zmian kąta nastawienia łopat wirnika ogonowego z uwzględnieniem brutalnego sterowania pozwoliło analizować obciążenia łopat w przypadku występowania rozległych stref oderwania.

In this paper the selected phenomena related to motor vehicle’s motion have been considered basing on a computer simulation. The vehicle performed a power-off straight line maneuver with different road conditions being included. All simulations have been performed in the MSC Adams/Car environment based on the available sports two-seater vehicle model, realizing the adopted maneuver at the instant speed of 100km/h. This enabled observation of the selected phenomena along the road long enough to relate them to different aspects of vehicle dynamics research. As for the randomly uneven road, almost similar and almost different profiles have been assumed for the left and right wheels of the vehicle. Additionally, two values of the coefficient determining the maximum amplitude of road irregularities have been selected: 0.3 for lower and 0.9 for higher irregularities, so the road surface conditions along with the flat road have been considered as one of the factors causing disturbances of the motor vehicle motion. Such research seems valuable from the point of view of road traffic safety and vehicle maintenance. This specific example is a presentation of the possible research on vehicle dynamics as well as a potential background for further considerations including different types of vehicles along with almost different road profiles for the left and right wheels of the given vehicle model. A power-off straight maneuver is not performed very often in normal road traffic. However, such test could be valuable when analyzing influence of the selected motor vehicle parameters, such as uneven loading, suspension characteristics, etc. on such maintenance features as stability, steerability and the influence of external disturbances acting on the moving vehicle. Further research provides different maneuvers and different simulation conditions.

Modelling and simulation investigations of a car non-linear dynamics with regard to freeplay (backlash in steering gear) and friction (kinetic and static friction in king-pins) is always a challenge for researchers. Fortunately, by special luz(...) and tar(...) projections and their mathematical apparatus the elaborated models and simulation procedures of stick-slip phenomena in a steering system are managed in efficient forms (without any entangle constraints) even for optimization and sensitivity studies. Exactly, the presented studies deal with problems of sensitivity of optimized maneuvers for vehicle models considering freeplay / friction effects. Double lane change maneuvers (overtaking and avoiding) are discussed. A criterion function refers to several evaluations (precision of maneuver, calm steering, feeling of comfortable travel). The optimization of steering wheel angle signal is done on a reference model with "nominal" freeplay and friction parameters. Such input signal is applied to a "real" vehicle having "real" freeplay and friction parameters. The differences of output signals as well as differences between criterion function values are a subject of sensitivity analysis. The sensitivity of reference models on a variation of freeplay and friction parameters appears as important from theoretical as well as practical points of view. The paper takes up the problems of sensitivity analysis of steering system model applied for synthesis steering algorithms for a double lane change maneuver.

The following paper’s aim is to provide a numerical analysis of well-known man overboard (MOB) manoeuvres undertaken by vessels’ masters’ in critical situations, when a passenger or crew member falls out from a vessel. The simulation, based on a complex hydrodynamical model of a merchant ship, which compares 3 variants of this manoeuvre, shows that the Scharnov turn is the shortest and the quickest one, but the ship finishes the Anderson turn with the lowest velocity. Also, the time of the Williamson turn is short enough, to successfully finish the operation. The duration of MOB manoeuvres is likened to the results of a medical overview, with not only the duration of MOB, but also the time between falling overboard and the beginning of the manoeuvre playing a crucial role in saving a casualty’s life.

A classification system for the segmentation of driving maneuvers and its validation in autonomous parking using a small-scale vehicle are presented in this work. The classifiers are designed to detect points that are crucial for the path-planning task, thus enabling the implementation of efficient autonomous parking maneuvers. The training data set is generated by simulations using appropriate vehicle–dynamics models and the resulting classifiers are validated with the small-scale autonomous vehicle. To achieve both a high classification performance and a classification system that can be implemented on a microcontroller with limited computational resources, a two-stage design process is applied. In a first step an ensemble classifier, the Random Forest (RF) algorithm, is constructed and based on the RF-kernel a General Radial Basis Function (GRBF) classifier is generated. The GRBF-classifier is integrated into the small-scale autonomous vehicle leading to excellent performance in parallel-, cross- and oblique-parking maneuvers. The work shows that segmentation using classifies and open-loop control are an efficient approach in autonomous driving for the implementation of driving maneuvers.

Biomechanical analyses seek to improve understanding of the mechanisms of knee injury and to find ways to reduce knee injury incidence. Many clinical biomechanics researchers use a standard kinematic adopted from Newington Children’s Hospital. Biomechanical studies include the knee joint configurations, where joint architecture immutably constrains and guides movement outcomes. Investigators will default to reporting resultant joint deformation without considering the influence of joint architectural configurations on kinematic responses. The purpose of this study was to develop a new joint angular kinematic method that accounts for influence of dynamic joint architectural configuration on deformation values. Twenty subjects performed unloaded dynamic flexion/ extension and 45° cutting maneuver. The knee deformation angles obtained with the new method proposed were compared with the values that obtained using the standard method. One way repeated measurement ANOVA’s was used to compare knee deformation angles values from the standard method that uses a static trial and the new method that uses a dynamic trial. The proposed method distinguishes between dynamic joint architectural configuration and joint deformation. Loaded standard abduction/adduction (β) and rotation (γ) angles were 3.4 ±1.8° and 11.2 ±3.8°, respectively. Using the new method, the β and γ angles decrease to 1.5 ±1.4° (<0.05) and 7.1 ±1.8° (<0.05) during cutting. The new method accounted for dynamic joint architectural configuration produced loaded β and γ angles that had smaller magnitudes than the standard method, suggesting that previous studies may have overestimated β and γ angles. Injury management strategies could be influenced by a consideration for dynamic joint architectural configuration. Such a consideration could influence ligament repair strategies. Future studies should account for dynamic configuration when establishing the influence of joint deformation on graft design and appropriate isometry values during reconstruction.

Paper presents a simplified method of a simulation of a helicopter controlled flight applied in a program defining an execution of two versions of an obstacle avoidance maneuver, a vertical jump and a horizontal S-turn. Considering the operational limitations of a helicopter, the control function required for maneuver is determined in an iteration process. The flight path for an avoidance maneuver is tailored to pass within the limits of a tolerance strip.
Przedstawiono uproszczoną metodę symulacji sterowanego lotu śmigłowca, którą zastosowano w programie określającym sposób wykonania dwóch wersji manewru omijania przeszkody, pionowego przeskoku oraz poziomego manewru. Uwzględniając eksploatacyjne ograniczenia śmigłowca w procesie iteracyjnym jest wyznaczana funkcja sterowania śmigłowca wymagana do wykonania manewru. Wyznaczenie symulowanego manewru jest prowadzone przy warunku przejścia toru lotu w granicach przyjętego pasma tolerancji.

The paper introduces implementation of highways' stopping sight distance (SSD) and decision sight distance (DSD) based on AASHTO modeling assumptions. SSD characterizes the necessary distance for highway vehicles to stop safely in front from an obstacle. SSD is a function of vehicle speed, perception reaction time, deceleration rate, and grade based on AASHTO and most highway design international guidelines. The deceleration rate which is assumed constant (3.4 m/sec2) based on AASHTO 2011 is generally controlled by the friction coefficient depending on the road surface conditions. A driver's demanded deceleration rate may not exceed the range of friction coefficient according to various pavement conditions. Although SSD is generally sufficient to allow skilled and alert drivers to the stop their vehicles under regular situations, this distance is insufficient when information is difficult to comprehend. A DSD should be provided in highways geometric design when the driver is required to detect an unexpected or difficult to perceive information source. Interchanges (specifically exit ramps) and intersections, and required changing in driver direction of travel, changes in the basic cross section such as toll plaza, lane drop, are typical scenarios where driver needs DSD in the safety manner. The introduction of the two sight distance types (SSD and DSD) is a perquisite for empirical modeling of the relationship between DSD and SSD. The modeling refers to DSD for rural highways, suburban roads, and urban roads based on AASHTO models. Specifically the paper covers DSD three avoidance maneuver types of stopping (types A, A1, B) and three maneuver types of speed, path, and direction changing (types C,D, E) for the three roadway categories. The major parameters that control these avoidance types are pre-maneuver times, and pre-maneuver plus maneuver times. The empirical relationship proposed in this study simplifies the process of evaluating the decision sight distance based on stopping sight distance record, based on AASHTO models, without the need of strenuous estimation of the DSD model maneuver and deceleration parameters. Such a simplified correlation has not been found in the literature except a rough approximation documented in the British highway design guidelines.

Graphical tools have been proposed to facilitate the selection, evaluation, and correction of anticollision actions in situations with moving and stationary obstacles, assuming that such situations are not extreme or ordinary with sailing vessels and that the target movement parameters are constant or their upcoming change is known. The choice of evasive combined Z‐manoeuvre (both course and speed change at one point and return to the original values of these parameters at another point) and one combined action (both course and speed alteration at the selected point) were considered. The graphical tools developed contain diagrams, showing eight zones of actions, and special marks of targets at the moment of their closest approach to the own ship. In view of the COLREG and good seamanship, these zones were arranged in order of application priority. The results of the enumeration of a representative discrete set of possible manoeuvre variants were used to construct the diagrams.

In this paper some selected results related to motor vehicle dynamics have been presented basing on the computer simulations of a sports two-seater performing a power-off straight line maneuver with different road conditions and the lack of a straightline motion control having been included. All simulations have been performed in the MSC Adams/Car environment and the adopted maneuver was performed at the instant speed of 100km/h-1. The selected phenomena have therefore been observed along the road long enough to relate them to different aspects of vehicle dynamics and the road traffic safety research. The adopted vehicle’s model moved along the flat and the randomly uneven road with the almost similar and the almost different profiles for the left and the right wheels. Additionally, two values of the coefficient determining the maxi-mum amplitude of road irregularities have been selected, i.e., 0.3 for the lower and 0.9 for the higher irregularities. This meant that the road conditions have been considered as one of the main factors possibly affecting disturbances of the motor vehicle’s motion. Such research seems valuable from the point of view of the road safety and the vehicles’ maintenance. A power-off straight maneuver is not very often performed during the normal road traffic and might seem useless. However, in this case it seemed essential to test the response of a vehicle’s model to such factors as, e.g., the uneven loading, suspension characteristics, etc. This in turn might prove valuable when considering, e.g., the additional concentration of a driver to overcome the external disturbances acting on a moving vehicle. The presented research is the second part of the paper (Kisilowski, 2019) where the power-off maneuver was considered but with the straightforward motion control. Here, the straight-line control has been switched off to examine an untypical situation where, for example a driver loses consciousness, and the vehicle moves freely along the road.
