Opis:
The basic issue addressed in this paper is responsibility conceived in the perspective of global responsibility and, within its framework, responsibility for future generations. In the face of growing threats and crisis phenomena the category of responsibility has gained a fundamental meaning. Responsibility may be considered in the context of the past and presence, but it should also be analyzed as referring to the future. The paper will elucidate main understanding of responsibility; the notion and value of responsibility will be analyzed in close relation to the notions and values of solidarity, justice, and community thinking and action.

This study expands on prior studies on wireless telecommunication generations by examining the technological differences and evolutional triggers that characterise each Generation (from 1G to 5G). Based on a systematic literature review approach, this study examines fifty (50) articles to enhance our understanding of wireless generation evolution. Specifically, this study analyses i) the triggers that necessitated the evolution of wireless telecommunication generations and ii) makes a case regarding why it is imperative to look beyond the fifth Generation (5G) network technologies. The authors propose areas for future research.

The labour market is constantly changing. There are changes in the age structure of economically active people as well as in their competences. The article presents intermentoring as a way of sharing information between people belonging to different age categories: 50plus (Baby Boomers) and 35minus (Generation Y). It also shows the results of a survey, which revealed the limited knowledge of respondents about mentoring, but also their need to participate in this training technique.

Opis:
In this paper, we will present a study into the dynamics of the transmission of emotional traumatic in three families of victims of World War II and post-war communist oppression. This study is taken from a broader research project in which we investigated the experiences of nonclinical families that managed to survive through three generation, and in which post-traumatic growth is present, i. e. the ability to integrate traumatic experiences and provide greater security for future generations. The main focus will be on how emotional content is transmitted and transformed through generations and how to recognise it in various forms of behaviour, thinking and emotions, that appear in each of the generations. As we follow the transformation of traumatic content, we will also follow the the signs that show how traumatic content has integrated and begun to bring new, deeper emotional and mental insights. The emotional depth of the traumatic experience is what burdens the victim the most and slows down the dynamics of trauma processing. It appears in the form of symptoms of post-traumatic stress syndrome, insecurity and mistrust. This is found even in victims who have articulated the trauma sufficiently to rise above intimidation, managed to develop emotionally strong and connecting interpersonal relationships, maintain faith in the future, and form a coherent narrative of their traumatic past. The most interesting result of the research was that all three families, regardless of their diversity, are similar in term of processing the trauma. They were all able to speak openly about their traumatic experiences. In all three families there there was a great deal of discussion and searching for the social framework and personal truth of historical events, and the desire to present and describe the events that left such deep wounds in such a way that they would be clear, reworked and accessible to future generations as a document of the reality of some tragic and difficult times. Another source of trauma processing was religious faith, which allowed all the participants in this study to look at trauma and life more deeply, through relationships and connections between people and through a deeper understanding of human history embedded in a broader and deeper spiritual flow. Faith helped these families to find the courage to make decisions, to face life’s challenges, and to endure even the most severe of life's trials. A third source that facilitates the processing and integration of a traumatic experience is secure interpersonal relationships and compassionate parenting. Despite the fact that the whole question of parenting was demanding and full of challenges for our interviewees, the quality of parenting has been improved from generation to generation, and sincere affection for children and gratitude for children were present everywhere. The ability to follow the new generation and its initiatives while maintaining a connection to its roots is a dynamic that characterises all three families. There is also a lot of thinking and conscious effort in establishing and maintaining good marital relationships in these families. For the recovery from trauma this study shows the importance of talking about it and also talking about it in a safe relationship until it takes a form that is genuine and at the same time clear, coherent and thus suitable for the general public. That’s when the traumatic story ceases to be traumatizing and becomes a story of courage, perseverance, and truth.

The changing economic conditions of the current dynamic and insecure labour market make learning a constant preoccupation of the workforce with view of meeting the growing qualifi cation demands. These demands are likely to infl uence the work preferences of both young people now entering the labour market and older people with established career paths. Research fi ndings suggest that the younger generation exhibits a stronger orientation towards learning and skill development as compared to the older generations. Moreover, studies show that the younger people are more ready to leave the organization when they have better learning opportunities elsewhere. The present study aims at establishing how preferences for learning and skill development in the workplace relate to a number of job and organizational characteristics. Particular focus is placed on the predictive capacity of perceived learning opportunities towards the tendency to leave the organization for either of the two generations. The study addresses work preferences of two generations in the Bulgarian labour market. To this aim, 121 respondents answered a55-item questionnaire consisting of newly developed scales as well as scales based on or adopted from standardized instruments such as the Extended Delft Measurement Kit (Roe et al., 2000). Contrary to fi ndings from previous research done in countries with different cultural and socio-economic background, the older people in our sample were more eager to learn and more ready to leave their organization in pursuit of better opportunities, ascompared to the younger generation. Another noteworthy conclusion is that the preferences for learning and development form different patterns in each of the two age groups and are expressed in a different way for each of the two generations.

Opis:
A generational shift is perceived as a significant challenge to organisations, especially in the ongoing changes in contemporary labour market. Four generations meet in the workplace now, while until recently one could talk only about two. Given the growing significance of human capital as a substantial factor of economic growth, the knowledge about individual generations is gaining importance. The aim of this article is to assess the position of particular generations on the labour market in Poland. The statistical analysis was carried out using the individual data of Social Diagnosis 2015 and allows for a quantitative assessment of the working situation of employees from different generations. Basic statistical tests to compare the population, as well as the multifactorial analysis of variance were applied.
Analiza statystyczna przeprowadzona została z wykorzystaniem indywidualnych danych Diagnozy Społecznej 2015 i pozwala na dokonanie ilościowej oceny sytuacji zawodowej pracujących z różnych generacji. Zastosowano podstawowe testy służące porównaniu populacji oraz wieloczynnikową analizę wariancji.

Opis:
This paper focuses on attitudes of Poles toward military interventions exercised by Polish troops in foreign countries. Specifically, we study the impact of age, generations, political biographies, and political orientations on mass support for military actions that have been framed in public debate and in the media as attempts to curtail or eliminate terrorism. Using data from the Polish Panel Study, POLPAN 2003–2008, we demonstrate that support for military actions depends on views on the political nature of terrorism, life experiences related to age/period, generational effects as defined by demographic cohorts and historical events, political biographies, and stances toward democracy and a market economy. These results are robust for 2003 and 2008. Although there is a significant decline of support for military actions through time, opinions expressed in 2003 strongly influence those expressed five years later. The longitudinal nature of our data allows us to show the effects of interactions of time-related variables on support for military actions in the most recent period, 2008. Effects of age on support for military action in 2008 depend on individuals’ stances on this issue in 2003, after the invasion of Iraq. Among those who were strong supporters of military action in the past, current support does not diminish with age. Among those who did not support military action in the past, however, current support quickly decreases with age.

Opis:
In Europe, one’s right to the environment was explicitly established as a fundamental human right, and was also established in the interests of future generations. Damage to the environment causes, in most cases, long-lasting, negative effects which have a negative impact on posterity, i.e., those future generations which need to be protected, due to which it is necessary to intervene with effective policies that lead to an ecological transition achieved with a reduction in extant polluting substances. The goal of this article is to understand whether or not future generations are holders of an active subjective juridical situation in terms of an individual’s right to a healthy environment. A comparative analysis of jurisprudential and doctrinal sources aims to discard the option of considering future generations as holders of a subjective right to a healthy environment and will focus on current subjects upon whom many constitutions impose a legal situation aimed at implementing a series of climate-protection actions for those who will come in the future.

We show a negative relation between the inflation rate and the unemployment rate, that is, the Phillips curve using a three-period overlapping generations (OLG) model with childhood period and pay-as-you-go pension for older generation under monopolistic competition with negative real balance effect. In a three-period OLG model, there may exist a negative real balance effect because consumers have debts and savings. A fall (or rise) in the nominal wage rate induces a fall (or rise) in the price, then by negative real balance effect, the unemployment rate rises (or falls), and we get a negative relation between the inflation rate and the unemployment rate. This conclusion is based on the premise of utility maximisation of consumers and profit maximisation of firms. Therefore, we present a microeconomic foundation for the Phillips curve. We also examine the effects of fiscal policy financed by seigniorage, which is represented by left-ward shift of the Phillips curve.

Both sustainable development and transhumanism are based on forecasting, meaning making judgments about what the future will be like, and they are made according to the results of scientific research. Sustainable development is an already implemented concept, yet transhumanism is still far from a similar degree of implementation. However, it is worth reflecting on their coexistence, as they already have their place in the scientific discourse. The element connecting sustainable development with transhumanism seems to be an enlightenment vision of human development. The aim of the article is to show the similarities and differences in these approaches to future generations.

Young people love being online. It is true for Hungarians as well, and communications technology plays a strong role in their lives. Young people (born in 1982-1996) were asked about their thoughts on the role of social network and being online in their lives. As a result, opinions of 662 respondents were collected through the method of online survey. The research results indicate that they are quite conscious social network users. The Generation Y’s life has been strongly determined by the existence of technological devices, and the communication through online sites. They especially like the social media applications, which basically determine their everyday life, friendships. The users pay just a slight attention to the access to their profile and set up restrictions despite the fact that they also spend most of their time in the cyberspace. The representatives of the generation clearly form a homogenous group, thus supporting the definition, which states that the members of Generation Y were born between 1982 and 1996. On the basis of our research, it can also be concluded that they form a homogenous group on the basis of their Internet usage patterns too.

Opis:
Here we report the consequences of telomere erosion in Arabidopsis thaliana, studied by examining seed and pollen production and the course of male meiosis through the last five generations (G5–G9) of telomerase-deficient Arabidopsis mutants. We used a previously described mutant line in which telomerase activity was abolished by T-DNA insertion into the TERT gene encoding telomerase reverse transcriptase. Reduced fertility accompanied by morphological abnormalities occurred in G6, which produced on average 35 seeds per silique (vs. 43 in wild type) and worsened in G7 (30 seeds) and G8 (14 seeds), as did the morphological abnormalities. The last generation of tert mutants (G9) did not form reproductive organs. Analysis of meiosis indicated that the main cause of reduced fertility in the late generation tert mutants of Arabidopsis was the numerous chromosomal end-to-end fusions which led to massive genome rearrangements in meiocytes. Fusion of meiotic chromosomes began in G5 and increased in each of the next generations. Unpaired chromosomes (univalents) were observed in G7 and G8. The study highlights some differences in the meiotic consequences of telomere shortening between plant and animal systems.
