Opis:: Nationalism, Cyberspace and Convergence CultureThe article analyses the discourse of the Greek-Macedonian dispute as it unfolded in the Internet, including especially the social networking website YouTube. The discourse is based on a mythologized concept of history, in which the national community is perceived as an eternal chain of generations, while the national identity is a stable, static and “natural” foundation of narrations.Nacjonalizm, cyberprzestrzeń i konwergencja kulturowaW swoim artykule analizuję dyskurs odnoszący się do sporu grecko-macedońskiego toczącego się w przestrzeni Internetu, w tym zwłaszcza na portalu społecznościowym YouTube. Dyskurs ten opiera się na zmitologizowanej wizji historii, gdzie wspólnota narodowa postrzegana jest jako odwieczny łańcuch pokoleń, a tożsamość narodowa jest stałym – nie podlegającym zmianom – i „naturalnym” fundamentem nacji.

Opis:: This paper examines the question of what values might underlie a global regimen of law. It is concerned with the level of culture and learning that could prevail among a future global public. It begins by explaining how law is a central element in the project of globalization, and how legal influence touches on all areas of global order. The paper discusses the two predominant Western traditions of law, Anglophone and Civilian, the legal culture each represents, and the values implicit in their two different conceptions of legality. It reviews certain fundamental elements present in each tradition since their near simultaneous beginnings in the medieval world. It explores the relationship of both legal methods to the realm of public understanding, especially in their two differing versions of the university as a center of learning. In doing so, the paper also examines the contrasting roles of scholar and judge in each legal system. It then looks forward to probable difficulties in any attempt at combining the two traditions of law into a single global regime. The paper concludes by using America as a model to contemplate what values might shape an Anglophone legal culture, applicable to all peoples in all localities around the world. Finally, the paper summarizes the foregoing, and looks toward the possible redefinition of culture and learning in a global Rule of Law.

Opis:: This study is primarily concerned with how the new media is current ly modifying the existing perception of journalism. The aim is not to summarize all new technologies and media, but to examine the spe cific characteristics of online media. This study strives to offer the most comprehensive view of specifics and differences between online media (incorporating online journalism) and the traditional media. It also deals with important issues, such as how cultural factors can modify our perception of new media or vice versa – how media and technolo gies shape the cultural environment in which they operate.
W artykule podjęta została tematyka wpływu nowych mediów na po strzeganie współczesnego dziennikarstwa. Celem artykułu jest nie tyle omówienie typów nowych technologii, ile ich udział w kształtowaniu mediów internetowych. W opracowaniu omówiona została specyfika mediów cyfrowych, zostały też wskazane najistotniejsze różnice po między mediami internetowymi a tradycyjnymi. W tym kontekście została dokonana analiza dziennikarstwa internetowego. W tekście zwrócono także uwagę na inne ważne kwestie, takie jak wpływ czyn ników kulturowych na postrzeganie nowych mediów. Podjęta też zo stała próba odpowiedzi na pytanie, w jaki sposób media i technologia wpływają na środowisko kulturowe, w którym działają.
