Opis:
Introduction. Magnetic Resonance Imaging methods are now frequently used for the analysis of the diseased tissue. These methods are based on the fact that the spin-lattice, T1 , and the spin-spin, T2 , relaxation times are different in diseased tissue as compared to that of normal tissue. Aim. Here we present measurements of spin-lattice relaxation time T1 on a Magnetic Resonance Imaging scaner with field strength 1.5 Tesla. Material and methods. Measurements of T1 relaxation time and analysis of literature. Results. We provide procedure for measurements of T1 relaxation time with field strength 1.5 Tesla and present a discussion of current applications.

Opis:
The diagnosis of Parkinson's disease, and also other neurodegenerative disorders, is based on clinical examination. Many attempts are undertaken to find a test that could confirm this clinical diagnosis. Many hopes were attributed to magnetic resonance imaging but its importance remains obscure. The aim of this study was to compare T1 and T2 relaxation times from substantia nigra of patients with clinical diagnosis of Parkinson's disease and age-matched controls. A decrease of T2 (54.5 ± 1.4 ms vs. 58.0 ± 1.5 ms) in Parkinson's disease vs. control was found with confidence level of 5%. T1 did not differ significantly between Parkinson's disease and control (624 ± 17 ms vs. 614 ± 21 ms).

Opis:
Introduction. The paper presents the results of a study of cell cultures of lung cancer and kidney cancer using lycopene performed using clinical magnetic resonance imaging. Aim. The aim of the study was to evaluate lycopene activity on tumor cell cultures. Material and methods. For this purpose, MR tests were performed using the technique of determining transverse relaxation. Results. Described here studies demonstrated that lycopene may inhibit the growth of A549 and ACHN cell lines. Conclusion. We determine changes in spin lattice relaxavity T2 to monitor treatment of lung cancer cell line A549 and kidney cancer cell line ACHN cells treatment with lycopene.

Opis:
Luminescence decay curves have been measured for the Sm$\text{}^{3+}$ $\text{}^{4}$G $\text{}_{5}\text{}_{/}\text{}_{2}$ → $\text{}^{6}$H $\text{}_{7}\text{}_{/}\text{}_{2}$ emission in the cubic crystal Cs$\text{}_{2}$NaSm$\text{}_{x}$Eu$\text{}_{y}$Y$\text{}_{1-x-y}$Cl$\text{}_{6}$ (x = 0.005 to x = 1, y = 0 to y = 0.99) over the temperature range 10 K to 300 K using pulsed laser excitation into the $\text{}^{4}$G $\text{}_{5}\text{}_{/}\text{}_{2}$ state of Sm$\text{}^{3+}$. The luminescence from the $\text{}^{4}$G $\text{}_{5}\text{}_{/}\text{}_{2}$ state of Sm$\text{}^{3+}$ is strongly quenched by both, cross relaxation to nearest-neighbour Sm$\text{}^{3+}$ ions and energy transfer to the $\text{}^{5}$D$\text{}_{0}$ state of Eu$\text{}^{3+}$. We interpret these processes in terms of a recently developed discrete shell model. The dependence of energy transfer from the Sm$\text{}^{3+}$ donor ion to Eu$\text{}^{3+}$ acceptor ions on y is readily studied and modelled. The temperature dependence shows that the cross relaxation occurs mainly by electric dipole vibronic-electric dipole vibronic interaction while in the energy-transfer process magnetic dipole allowed electronic contributions are also involved.

Opis:
The dynamics of the lattice relaxation processes were investigated using a reflection of a high energy electron diffraction analysis system during growth by molecular beam epitaxy of ZnTe/Cd$\text{}_{1-x}$Ζn$\text{}_{x}$Te/Cd$\text{}_{0.5}$Mn$\text{}_{0.5}$Te buffers on GaAs substrates. The variation of the lattice parameter recorded by the high energy electron diffraction during the growth was later confirmed by an analysis of high resolution transmission electron microscopy images. We report also on an observation of oscillations of the lattice parameter during the deposition of several first layers of ZnTe on CdTe.
