Opis:: The article deals with the problem of some taboo topics that are present in Slovenian society and should be understood by foreigners who wish to participate in the Slovenian culture. By analyzing six modern textbooks of Slovene as a foreign language (levels A1 to B1), considering such topics as intimate body parts, relationships, death or illnesses, the author seeks for problematic content, describes the way the textbooks deal with it and lists out vocabulary that can be acquired. The author concludes that the majority of analyzed textbooks avoid taboo topics.

Opis:: To derive a more effective educational method, racial differences among Chinese students in learning Korean culture was invesigated using a survey method. The Han and Joseon racial groups in China were examined. Before the survey, the Han race students (Chinese students except Joseon race students, in this case) preferred a language and culture teaching method (LCTM), whereas the Joseon race students favored an audiovisual teaching method (AVTM). However, after experiencing four different teaching methods – comparative-cultural teaching method (CCTM), AVTM, LCTM, and rote memorization teaching method—for two weeks, the Han race students preferred the AVTM more, whereas the Joseon race students preferred the CCTM. Thus, students from the same country require different education methods.

Opis:: This study explores the most preferred and effective teaching methods for Korean language and culture for university students. Statistical analysis of awareness of the Korean language, history, and culture was conducted. It tested differences in students’ knowledge about Korea dependently on a teaching method and sociodemographic variables. The study investigated is there a dependency between favourite teaching methods of K-culture and analogical methods using K-pop, K-drama, and K-food. The main research tool was the survey conducted among 70 students studying Korean language and culture at the University of Silesia in Katowice, Poland. The study’s statistical analyses employed the IBM SPSS Statistics 29.0 package, used for analysing basic descriptive statistics, r Pearson and rho Spearman correlation analyses, and t Student test for independent variables. The analysis proves that the students do not differ in terms of knowledge about Korea in relation to a preferred and effective teaching method.

Opis:: The style of teaching is a category that refers not to the content of teaching, but to the form (method) of teachers’ didactic and educational work with students. Earlier studies have shown that there is a strong relationship between the teacher’s work style and students’ learning and involvement. The article presents new research on the properties of teaching style in mathematics lessons at two educational stages, analyzes the results and proposes a reflection on teacher education. This article is a part of the discussion on mathematical education at a Polish school.
Styl nauczania jest kategorią, która nie odnosi się do treści nauczania, a do formy (sposobu) pracy dydaktyczno-wychowawczej nauczyciela z uczniami. Wcześniejsze badania pokazały, że istnieje istotna zależność pomiędzy stylem pracy prowadzącego lekcje a uczeniem się uczniów i ich zaangażowaniem. W artykule zaprezentowano badania własne właściwości stylu nauczania na lekcjach matematyki na dwóch etapach edukacyjnych, przeanalizowano uzyskane wyniki i zaproponowano namysł nad kształceniem nauczycieli. Zaprezentowane rozważania wpisują się w dyskusję nad edukacją matematyczną w polskiej szkole.

Opis:: This paper is about the process of learning/teaching philosophy in a class of deaf stu-dents. It starts with a presentation of Portuguese Sign Language that, as with other sign lan-guages, is recognized as a language on equal terms with vocal languages. However, in spite of the recognition of that identity, sign languages have specifi city related to the quadrimodal way of their production, and iconicity is an exclusive quality. Next, it will be argued that according to linguistic relativism - even in its weak version - language is a mould of thought. The idea of Philosophy is then discussed as an area of knowledge in which the author and the language of its production are always present.Finally, it is argued that learning/teaching Philosophy in Sign Language in a class of deaf students is linked to deaf culture and it is not merely a way of overcoming diffi culties with the spoken language

Opis:: Celem artykułu jest zaprezentowanie problematyki nauczania języka i kultury polskiej w warunkach zdalnych na przykładzie Bałtyckiego Uniwersytetu Federalnego im. Immanuela Kanta w Kaliningradzie. Przedstawiony został przebieg wydarzeń edukacyjnych i kulturalnych promujących język i kulturę polską w roku akademickim 2020/2021, takich jak: Międzynarodowe Multimodalne Dyktando oraz konkurs krasomówczy PaintTalks, które zostały zorganizowane w ramach Dni Języka i Kultury Polskiej. Dodatkowo omówiono sposoby realizacji dwóch kursów przedmiotowych przeznaczonych dla studentów studiów licencjackich na kierunku filologia obca: język polski i literatura, które w całości odbyły się w formie online; są to: Wprowadzenie do kultury polskiej i Praktyczny język polski. Uwzględnione zostało także badanie ilościowe, a kwestionariusz ankietowy prezentuje opinie i refleksje uczestników kursów na temat atrakcyjności i efektywności takiej formy uczenia się języka obcego. Powodem podjęcia wybranej tematyki jest potrzeba odpowiedzi na aktualne wyzwania edukacyjne związane z nauczaniem online oraz zaprezentowanie różnorodnych przedsięwzięć promujących język i kulturę polską poza granicami kraju. Tekst wpisuje się we współczesne badania nad promocją języka polskiego jako obcego oraz glottodydaktyczne poszukiwania dotyczące polonistyk światowych.
The purpose of the article is to discuss the issue of teaching the Polish language and Polish culture in remote conditions on the example of the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University in Kaliningrad. The study presents the educational and cultural events promoting Polish language and culture in the academic year 2020/2021. They included the International Multimodal Dictation and the PaintTalks oratorical competition, which were organized as part of the Days of Polish Language and Culture. The article also presents the methods of implementing two subject courses intended for undergraduate students of foreign philology in the program Polish language and literature, which were entirely conducted in an online form: Introduction to Polish culture and Practical language Polish. Further, the paper shows the results of a quantitative study and of a questionnaire, which express the course participants’ opinions and reflections on the attractiveness and effectiveness of this form of learning a foreign language. The reason for taking up this topic is the need to respond to the current educational challenges related to online teaching and to present various projects aimed at promoting the Polish language and Polish culture abroad. The text is in line with contemporary research on the promotion of Polish as a foreign language and international glottodidactic studies of Polish.

Rola festiwalu wykracza poza cele związane z dydaktyką. To także działanie na rzecz integrowania środowiska osób zainteresowanych językiem i kulturą polską. Niniejszy artykuł to okazja do zadania pytań, jak kontynuować projekt, w oparciu o współczesne badania na temat edukacji językowej i kulturalnej, a więc z naciskiem na interkulturowość. Na ile znajomość Gruzji i kontekstów związanych z tym krajem jest potrzebna, żeby zrealizować wydarzenie edukacyjne przeznaczone dla tej konkretnej grupy odbiorców? Jak zaplanować i zrealizować wydarzenie edukacyjne online i jakie ten akt może nieść znaczenia dla budowania wzajemnych relacji?
The subject of the article is the analysis of an online didactic project – promotional and educational – conducted thanks to the cooperation of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Georgia, the Polish Institute in Tbilisi and Polonicum of the University of Warsaw. This project is called “ĄĘ” – [Online] Polish Language Festival in Georgia. The aim of the festival, the 4th edition of which was held on March 15–18, 2022, is to create a database of materials for self-improvement of Polish language skills and learning about various aspects of Polish culture. The role of the festival goes beyond the educational goals. It is also an activity to integrate the community of people interested in the Polish language and culture. This article is an opportunity to ask questions on how to continue the project, based on contemporary research on linguistic and cultural education, and therefore with an emphasis on interculturality. To what extent is the knowledge of Georgia and the contexts related to this country necessary to conduct an educational event intended for this specific audience? How to plan and organize an online educational event and what can this act mean for building mutual relationships?

The author writes about communicative, contextual and cultural teaching of Polish as a foreign language, showing how literature can be used for this purpose. The literary basis is a poem for children of Jan Brzechwa entitled Na straganie (At The Market Stall). The article shows how from introductory, language exercises, preparing to receive a poem, you can go on to record typical Polish phrases. Brzechwa’s piece is the basis for learning the vocabulary associated with vegetable names, to recognize the emotions that accompany conversations at the market stall, and finally to culinary and historical talk related to the topic of cooking.

Opis:: Celem artykułu było przedstawienie zagadnienia mniejszości etnicznych w Polsce w kontekście dydaktyki języka polskiego i kultury polskiej jako obcej. W tekście zostały opisane najważniejsze aspekty związane z tym rodzajem społeczności w Polsce i rozważania dotyczące tytułowej problematyki na zajęciach dla cudzoziemców uczących się polszczyzny. W pracy zawarto również ustalenia teoretyczne sytuujące tematykę mniejszości etnicznych w obszarze geografii kulturowej. Zamieszczono też wyniki badania orientacji jego uczestników odnośnie do tytułowej tematyki oraz ich preferencji związanych z podejmowaniem tego tematu na zajęciach z języka polskiego i kultury polskiej. Grupa ankietowanych obejmowała 91 uczestników lektoratów języka polskiego na poziomach B2, C1 i C2, a zaprezentowane dane pozyskano z ankiety złożonej z pytań głównie o kafeterii zamkniętej. Większość respondentów potrafiła wymienić dwie bądź jedną mniejszość etniczną, a także wyraziła chęć zgłębiania badanej tematyki i włączania jej do programu zajęć z języka polskiego i kultury polskiej. Najwięcej ankietowanych zadeklarowało zainteresowanie zabytkami i atrakcjami turystycznymi związanymi z kulturą mniejszości etnicznych w Polsce, co zawarto w podsumowaniu artykułu i opisanych w nim propozycjach praktycznego wykorzystania wniosków wyciągniętych z badania. Analiza teoretyczna i interpretacja wyników ankiety pokazały, że tematyka mniejszości etnicznych stanowi interesujący dla cudzoziemców element wiedzy o polskim społeczeństwie.
The aim of the article was to present the issue of ethnic minorities in Poland in the context of teaching Polish language and culture as foreign ones. The text describes the most important aspects related to such communities in Poland and reflects on the title issues during classes for foreigners who learn Polish. The work also contains theoretical findings situating the subject of ethnic minorities in the area of cultural geography. It also includes the results of a study on the knowledge of Polish language learners on the topic and their preferences concerning discussing minority issues during Polish language and Polish culture classes. The group of respondents included 91 participants of Polish language courses at the B2, C1 and C2 levels, and the presented data was obtained with the use of a survey consisting of questions mainly in the form of cafeteria-style checklist. Most of the respondents were able to name two or one ethnic minority, and expressed the willingness to explore the subject matter and include it in the curriculum of Polish language and Polish culture. The largest number of respondents declared their interest in monuments and tourist attractions related to the culture of ethnic minorities in Poland, which is included in the summary of the article and the proposals for practical use of the conclusions drawn from the described study. The theoretical analysis and interpretation of the survey results showed that the subject of ethnic minorities is an element of interest for foreigners learning about Polish society.

Opis:: Artykuł ma na celu pokazanie napięcia między starotestamentowym nakazem motywowanym religijnie czcij ojca swego i matkę swoją…, a współczesnym nam, ziemskim, ludzkim szanuj ojca i matkę, szanuj rodziców. Sposobem na osiągnięcie tego celu będą czynności dydaktyczne poszerzające pole wiedzy: przeczytanie pełnych wersji przykazania czwartego; poznanie strasznych kar grożących za uchybianie czci rodzicom; przywołanie scen składania ofiar z dzieci; czytanie polskich interpretacji czwartego przykazania przez M. Reja i E. Glicznera. Wniosek: dla nas na nasze czasy najbardziej odpowiednim jest wymaganie naturalnego szacunku dzieci dla rodziców – bez pośrednictwa dawnych religijnych mniemań.
The article aims to show the tension between the Old Testament, which is religiously motivated honour thy father and thy mother, and the modern version, which isearthly, human, respect the father and mother, respect the parents. The way to achieve this will be through didactic activities that expand the field of knowledge: reading thefull versions of the fourth commandment; to know the terrible penalties that threaten to be imposed for the misconduct of honor of parents; recalling scenes of child sacrifice;reading Polish interpretations of the Fourth Commandment by M. Rej and E. Gliczner. Conclusion: for us in our time, it is most appropriate to require the natural respect of children for parents – without any mediation of old religious beliefs.

Opis:: Since antiquity man has been studying irony, it has always been in the center of a continuous debate of scholars of many different scientific disciplines: from Socrates to Aristophanes, from Plato and Aristotle to Cicero and Quintilianus, St. Thomas Aquinas, Baldassarre Castiglione, to the German Romantics. Irony is a world with many acceptations: for this reason, as irony is a rethorical component and a very important element of italian language and culture, it is a very interesting element, which can be used in glottodidactics. The following pages provide a brief overview on the various conceptions of irony, then move on to the suggestion of practical exercises where irony can be used in teaching italian language.
