Opis:
Given an n-ary k-valued function f, gap(f) denotes the minimal number of essential variables in f which become fictive when identifying any two distinct essential variables in f.
We particularly solve a problem concerning the explicit determination of n-ary k-valued functions f with 2 ≤ gap(f) ≤ n ≤ k. Our methods yield new combinatorial results about the number of such functions.

We prove a variant of Hildebrandt's theorem which asserts that the convex hull of the essential spectrum of an operator A on a complex Hilbert space is equal to the intersection of the essential numerical ranges of operators which are similar to A. As a consequence, it is given a necessary and sufficient condition for zero not being in the convex hull of the essential spectrum of A.

Opis:
Chromium (Cr) is a micronutrient that occurs in the natural environment in different oxidation states. Natural compounds contain chromium in the +3 oxidation state, whereas chromic(VI) acid derivatives are industrial products with strong toxicity. Hexavalent chromium compounds can adversely affect the respiratory system and the gastrointestinal tract, cause skin changes, and exert carcinogenic, mutagenic, embryotoxic as well as teratogenic effects. Research indicates that both organic and inorganic trivalent chromium compounds improve carbohydrate, lipid, and protein metabolism. These compounds are found in many enzymes, and they influence antioxidant processes, regulation of immune responses, and the secretion of hormones and selected vitamins in the body. In animals, Cr has been found to increase fat-free body mass, improve reproductive parameters, enhance growth, increase feed conversion efficiency, boost immunity, and decrease mortality. It has been suggested that Cr supplements can intensify the effects of insulin, decrease the plasma levels of non-esterified fatty acids (NEFAs), decrease triglyceride concentrations in the liver, and improve glucose tolerance, thus improving the performance and productivity of cattle in the perinatal period. Symptoms of chromium deficiency, including decreased feed intake, lower weight gains, reproductive disorders, and higher lipid levels, are observed in cattle fed diets that are low in this nutrient, and in animals that are exposed to considerable and prolonged stress. In ruminants, chromium supplementation is recommended during thermal stress, in the perinatal period, and during infections.

The purpose of the research work was to examine the antifungal properties of cumin, rosemary and fennel essential oils. The goal of the study was also to determine antifungal activity of coatings containing the essential oils. The results of the study demonstrated that cumin, rosemary and fennel essential oils exhibited antifungal properties. The most sensitive strains were Botrytis cinerea and Mucor circinelloides. The cumin oil was found to be the most active. The growth of Botrytis cinerea and Mucor circinelloides was not observed even on medium containing 0.1% of cumin oil. The growth of Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus clavatus and Rhizopus oryzae was not noticed on mediums containig 0.5% of the oil. The similar results were obtained for fennel essential oil. 0.5% concentration of the oil in medium inhibited the growth of Botrytis cinerea, Mucor circinelloides, Aspergillus clavatus, Rhizopus oryzae. The rosemary oil did not inhibited the growth of fungi strains in concentration of 0,1%.

Opis:
This paper comprises two parts. The first part is an introduction to Auriol’s moderate conceptualism, as it is presented in his Commentary on Book II of the Sentences, distinction 9, question 2, article 1. The second part is an edition of the text. In the introduction, I focus on Auriol’s use of the noetic tool of connotation. My thesis, in particular, is that connotation is a necessary prerequisite to his moderate conceptu alism. To this purpose, the first part of this introduction will be devoted to a brief presentation of Auriol’s conceptualism. In the second part, Auriol’s theory of essential predication will be presented. In the third part, I will present my claim that Auriol’s theory of essential predication can only be made sense of when read against the background of his theory of connotation as applied to intellectual cognition. Finally, I will offer a collation of Auriol’s Commentary on Book II of the Sentences, dis tinction 9, question 2, article 1, obtained by collating eight manuscripts, which hand down Auriol’s text, that is, Firenze, Biblioteca nazionale centrale, ms. Opis:
Solid-phase extraction (SPE) is simple and inexpensive sample preparation procedure which can be applied for the isolation/fractionation of essential oil compounds from wide variety of samples, such as foodstuffs, biological and environmental. Due to the complex nature of the examined matrices and frequently low concentration level of target components, analytical procedures require the use of initial sample preparation stage. The paper shows the possibility of essential oil components fractionation from different plant materials using SPE method. The results presented in this paper shows that the proposed SPE procedure allows for easy and total fractionation of essential oil constituents (especially low-molecular oxygen compounds) from the sample matrix.

The current research was conducted to determine the effect of thyme (Thymus vulgaris L.), rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis L.), and French lavender (Lavandula stoechas L.) essential oils and their combinations on serum, bone and excreta mineral content and bone breaking strength in broilers. A total of 640 day-old broiler chicks (Ross 308) were randomly allocated to eight treatment groups with five replicates each. The experimental diets were prepared by adding essential oils to the control diet as follows: control (0 mg/kg), thyme essential oil (50 mg/kg), rosemary essential oil (50 mg/kg), French lavender essential oil (50 mg/kg), thyme + rosemary (25+25 mg/kg), thyme + French lavender (25+25 mg/kg), rosemary + French lavender (25+25 mg/kg) and thyme + rosemary + French lavender (16,7+16,7+16,7 mg/kg). No difference was shown between the treatment groups in serum content of Ca, Mg, P or Zn (P > 0,05). Tibia Ca, Mg and P contents were statistically significant (P < 0,01), while tibia breaking strength was not significant (P > 0,05). Excreta Ca, Fe, Mg, Mn, P and Zn contents were significantly affected by the dietary treatments (P < 0,01), but excreta Cu content was not statistically significant (P > 0,05). The addition of thyme essential oil to the diet was effective in increasing tibia Ca, P and Mg content. The essential oils used, especially their binary mixtures, can be effective in reducing the amount of minerals excreted in the faeces.

The lawmakers have imposed a number of obligations on public entities within the national cybersecurity system to ensure that information systems are resilient against actions which compromise the confidentiality, integrity, accessibility, and authenticity of the data being processed in these systems, or the related services provided by such systems. These obligations include incident reporting and handling by the appropriate public entities, and designating contact persons to communicate with national cybersecurity system entities. However, they do not apply to all public bodies – only those specifically named by the lawmakers. An important spectrum of measures in this regard involves public-entity incidents, i.e. occurrences which impair, or might impair, the quality of, or disrupt the performance of, a public function by a public entity. When fulfilling their obligations, it is particularly important for public entities to handle incidents, understood as taking measures to identify, register, analyse, classify, prioritise, contain, and remedy the incidents.

Leather products provide an ideal environment for microbial growth. In order to prevent the appearance and spread of various types of microorganisms, it is treated with selected biocides and even essential oils. The aim of this paper was to investigate the antifungal activity of selected essential oils applied to finished chromium tanned leather which is intended for leather fancy products. Antifungal activity was evaluated according to the PN-EN 14119: 2005 standard. Four finished chromium tanned leathers were tested, each of which was soaked in the following essential oils: tea tree essential oil at a concentration of 1, 2 and 5% and thyme essential oil at concentration of 1, 2 and 5%. The results obtained indicated that leather finishing with thyme essential oil showed the antimicrobial activity against Aspergillus niger, Chaetomium globosum and Candida albicans strains. The application of 5% thyme essential oil to leather samples inhibited the growth of all strains tested. Using tea tree essential oil on leather samples showed a antimicrobial effect only against Candida albicans. The application of essential oils in the leather finishing process may be an alternative to biocides used in the tanning industry.

Evaluation of the fungicidal properties of essential oils from Leptospermum scoparium and Azadirachta indica in relation to selected fungi causing wood decay. The publication presents the results of evaluation of the fungicidal effect of two essential oils from Leptospermum scoparium (manuka) and Azadirachta indica (neem) on fungi that cause the decomposition of Trametes versicolor and Coniophora puteana wood. Research results indicate that the growth of the tested fungi is clearly inhibited with the participation of the highest concentrations of essential oils used. At the same time, it was found that the action of neem oil was stronger compared to the Traetes versicolor fungus. In contrast, manuka essential oil has a stronger inhibitory effect on the growth of Coniophora puteana.
