    The experimental manifestation of electron correlation effects in the V$\text{}_{2}$O$\text{}_{3}$ and NiS$\text{}_{2}$ systems are reviewed, and recent elementary theories for interpreting the many different types of metal-insulator transitions based on these theories are provided. Research on the critical phenomena displayed by the interacting electrons in these systems is also reviewed.

    The effect of correlation-driven electronic transitions are described for the V$\text{}_{2}$O$\text{}_{3}$, NiS$\text{}_{2-x}$Se$\text{}_{x}$, and Fe$\text{}_{3}$O$\text{}_{4}$ systems. The various tranformations can all be rationalized in terms of elementary concepts pertaining to the Mott-Hubbard intraatomic electronic interactions or in terms of an order-disorder formalism involving Coulomb interactions among electrons on adjacent sites. Attention is directed to some outstanding issues that require further resolution.

    The theory of electron correlation phenomena is reviewed and used to interpret the transport, thermal, or magnetic properties of V_{2}O_{3}, LaNiO_{3} and Fe_{3}O_{4} systems, each of which to a greater or lesser degree displays correlation effects. A rationale is provided for interpreting the various types of phase transitions encountered in the vanadium sesquioxide and magnetite host systems and to show why these are altered by small compositional variations.

    Opis:
    The rectification of the second law of thermodynamics is used to directly relate irreversible heat and work transfers to reversible processes. This permits the construction of thermodynamic functions of state that include entropy contributions due to irreversible processes. A general expression is set up to determine the entropy changes in terms of experimentally accessible parameters when a system is interacting with its surroundings via quasistatic irreversible operations. The procedure is used to determine the entropy changes across a narrow junction in terms of pressure and temperature differences between the system and its surroundings, including cyclic processes.

    Prior theories of metal-insulator transitions by Spałek et al. were extended to include quartic terms in the temperature and by introducing two different density of state functions. The effects of these extensions on low-temperature metal-insulator transitions and on reentrant metallic behavior in solids have been investigated.

    Systematic magnetic saturation moment and electrical resistivity measurements of the Fe$\text{}_{3(1-\delta)}$O$\text{}_{4}$ and Fe$\text{}_{3-x}$M$\text{}_{x}$O$\text{}_{4}$ (M = Ti, Zn, Al) are presented. Cation distributions for low level doping are proposed and compositional dependencies of the Verwey transition temperature are determined. The latter show striking similarities in their dependence on cation vacancies and dopant concentration for any extraneous cations. These data are the basis for the analysis of the correlation between the presented cations distributions and the Verwey transition.

    The time-of-flight neutron diffraction data were collected for two Fe$\text{}_{3-y}$Zn$\text{}_{y}$O$\text{}_{4}$ powder samples showing different order of the Verwey transition: y=0.0072 - first order, y=0.0249 - second order. Measurements were performed on spallation neutron source in ISIS Rutherford Appleton Laboratory. At low temperatures (below Verwey transition temperature T$\text{}_{V}$) clear splitting of certain reflections characteristic of rhombohedral distortion was observed for both samples. We found that this distortion is much bigger for the sample exhibiting first-order than for the sample showing second-order transition.

    Głównym tematem pracy jest wykorzystanie modelu ruchu pojazdu do obiektywnego wyznaczania oddziaływania poszczególnych pojazdów na gospodarkę i środowisko. Pomiar rzeczywistej emisji substancji szkodliwych i zużycia paliwa dla pojedynczego pojazdu może wiązać się ze zbyt dużymi kosztami. Ceny analizatorów emisji spalin kształtują się na poziomie około 150 000 EU. Istnieje jednak możliwość pośredniego wyznaczenia rzeczywistej emisji substancji szkodliwych i zużycia paliwa. Omawiana metoda opiera się na wyznaczaniu przebiegu zmienności stopnia obciążenia silnika, jaką można przypisać danym wartościom emisji substancji szkodliwych i zużycia paliwa. Charakterystyki emisji silnika i zużycia paliwa muszą być wstępnie znane. Model ruchu pojazdu wykorzystuje się do wyznaczania przebiegu zmienności stopnia obciążenia silnika.
    The main topic of the paper is usage of vehicle movement model for objective determination of economic and environmental impacts caused by separate vehicles. Measurement of the real production of harmful emissions and fuel consumption on a vehicle might be too expensive. The price of car emission analyzers are app. around 150 000 EU. But it is possible to determine the real production of harmful emissions and the fuel consumption indirectly. A principle of the method is based on determination of engine load course that is possible to be assigned to the production of harmful emission and the fuel consumption. Characteristics of the engine's emissions and the fuel consumption must be known preliminary. The model of the vehicle movement is used to determine the engine load course.

    The main topic of the paper is to determine different fuel consumption and harmful emissions caused by engine's changes of technical conditions. The change of technical condition of combustion engine at any working point of engine proves different change of fuel consumption and production of harmful emissions. Therefore it is necessary to compare two technical conditions to determine the same engine load. For this purpose the special simulation programme of engine load in Non-Road Transient Cycle (NRTC) was created.
