Opis:
The aim of the study was to establish which of environmental factors affect flowering patterns in a long-lived herbaceous plant Senecio macrophyllus. The study was conducted in the population of Biała Góra (White Mountain) near Tomaszów Lubelski in the years 1989-2004. The results allow to conclude that in the reproductive patterns of the analysed population small-scale environmental factors (soil moisture and trophism, light intensity) are more important than large-scale climatic factors (temperature, precipitation), which to a comparable extent affect the plants in the whole population area.

The paper presents a comparison of 3 sets of interpretations of 1 classical Landsat MSS image done by 15 interpreters on 3 different scales, varying by a factor of 2 (i.e.1.2M, 1M and 500K). The number, length, and average length of interpreted lineaments strongly depend on the scale of imagery, but not in a simple, linear way. Even directions of interpreted lineaments are to some degree controlled by scale factor, so to obtain a coherent interpretation it is recommended to interpret all image areas on a fixed scale. Interpretations in different scales may be combined into one multi-coverage interpretation.

The Zechstein copper ore deposit located on the Foresudetic monocline has a complex geological structure both in lithological and mineralogical aspects. The significant variability in quantity and quality of minerals deposited in the ore bed is one of the factors determining the susceptibility of copper ore to beneficiation based on flotation, which is carried out in the KGHM Concentration Plant. Based on the algorithm developed, flotation experiments on a laboratory scale have been conducted to predict the upgrade rates under industrial conditions. This paper provides the results of the mineralogical examination of the flotation products performed by one of the KGHM Concentration process lines and compares the beneficiation of various copper sulphide minerals. The results of the laboratory tests have been compared with the results of sampling carried out simultaneously at the process line. A procedure has been proposed to develop equations defining the industrial upgradability curves for copper sulphide minerals under the KGHM Concentration Plant conditions.

This paper presents proposals for application of methodology of evaluation of geothermal resources on a regional scale, focusing on economic efficency of heat recovery through the analysis of the power factor distribution. The concept of the power factor design by Gosk (1982) is discussed according to the present conditions of socio-economic development in our country, including the prices of alternative fuel (coal), the current cost of drilling, etc. In the paper a solution for automation of geothermal resources calculation, based on complex operations on the three-dimensional spatial models (grids) using the specialized software for interpretation of geological data’s of Landmark Graphics Corporation – ZMap Plus package is presented. Attention is drawn to the possibility of using specialized programming macro language ZCL (Zycor Command Language) to perform complex, often repetitive, mathematical procedures, what significantly speeds up the calculation procedures and may reduce the computational errors.

Procedural Justice Scale
Opis:
In Polish psychology there has been no systematic research so far on the experience of contact with courts and on the evaluation of this experience using the theory of procedural justice. Polish psychologists do not have Polish instruments measuring procedural justice at their disposal. The Procedural Justice Scale is a measure operationalizing the dimensions of procedural justice according to Tyler’s model: respect, neutrality, voice, understanding, and influence. The aim of the present article is to present the work on the revised version of the Procedural Justice Scale, measuring procedural justice operationalized exclusively in psychological terms, and to present the psychometric properties of this scale. In particular, the author tested the reliability of the instrument and verified its validity based on confirmatory factor analysis, scale intercorrelations, and intergroup differences. The results confirmed the five-factor structure of procedural justice. They also confirmed the criterion validity of the measure, reflected in correlations with validation instruments.

This study aims to develop and validate a measurement scale for internal capability and logistics outsourcing. Regarding the goal of this study, data were obtained from 180 respondents who are currently performing logistics outsourcing in different fields in Sudan (oil industry, telecommunications, logistics services and manufacturing). Depending on the questioner technique, a total of 36 items and 5 subscales were generated based on the literature. The study uses a five-point Likert-style response scale (ranging from strongly agree to strongly disagree). The scale was subjected to confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) for determining the validity and reliability of the study dataset. Cronbach’s alpha reliability coefficient (α) of the scale was reported to be 0.88. Findings of the study indicate that the resulting internal capability and Logistics outsourcing measurement scale can serve as a valuable tool for measuring the Logistics outsourcing drivers, namely time-related drivers, cost-related drivers, flexibility-related drivers, and quality-related drivers.

Opis:
Objectives: The aim of this study was to verify psychometric properties of the Polish version of the Job-related Affective Well-being Scale (JAWS). Specifically, theoretical 4-factor structure (based on the dimensions of pleasure and arousal) and reliability of the original - 20-item JAWS (van Katwyk et al., 2000) and the shortened - 12-item (Schaufeli and Van Rhenen, 2006) versions were tested. Material and Methods: Two independent samples were analyzed (police officers, N = 395, and police recruits, N = 202). The Polish version of the original, 20-item, JAWS was used to measure job-related affective states across the past month (van Katwyk et al., 2000). This version of JAWS includes 2 dimensions: valence and arousal, which allow to assess 4 categories of emotions: low-arousal positive emotions, high-arousal positive emotions, lowarousal negative emotions and high-arousal negative emotions. Results: The results of multidimensional scaling analysis showed that the theoretical circumplex model of emotions underlining JAWS was satisfactorily reproduced. Also the hypothesized 4-factor structure of the Polish version of JAWS was confirmed. The 12-item version had better fit with the data than the original, 20-item, version, but the best fit was obtained for the even shorter, 8-item version. This version emerged from a multidimensional scaling of the 12-item version. Reliabilities of the 20- and 12-item versions were good, with lower values for the 8-item JAWS version. Conclusions: The findings confirmed satisfactory psychometric properties of both Polish versions of the Job-related Affective Well-being Scale. Thus, when both psychometric properties and relevance for cross-cultural comparisons are considered, the 12-item JAWS is recommended as a version of choice.

Research background: Many authors emphasize that successful human resource management (HRM) practices align with employees’ needs associated with the construct of employees’ interests. In particular, the importance of considering employees’ interests is emphasized in the process of shaping the architecture of Socially Responsible Human Resource Management (SR-HRM) systems. Purpose of the article: The aim of the article is to contribute to understanding employees’ interests by designing and validating a measure to recognize these interests. Methods: Through the use of literature sources and expert opinions, the authors developed a list of employee interests. Empirical data collected via the survey method in Poland was used to statistically verify the measurement scale. In particular, exploratory factor analysis and exploratory structural equation modelling were applied. Findings & value added: This article shows that it is important to create a comprehensive list of interests, as well as validate the research tool used. The newly developed scale has 22 items and five dimensions: support and development at the level of the enterprise, employee participation, support and development at the departmental level, employment security, working conditions and remuneration. It may be used in a variety of companies, as well as in complex research models, and developed further taking into consideration the context of other countries.

Data from model tests of an inland waterway vessel in shallow water have been used by the authors to prepare the resistance prediction in full scale. The common ITTC-1978 extrapolation procedure was applied using form factor determined according to the Prohaska method and, separately, by fitting the approximation function to resistance data. At the same time a series of CFD computations of ship flow has been carried out in model scale and in full scale, with double-body model as well as including the effect of free surface. The results of computations were used to determine total resistance and form factor. The values of form factor determined using different methods are similar and relatively high in comparison to values being applied to conventional sea going ships. Resistance prediction according to the ITTC-1978 with form factor was compared to prediction without form factor. The relative difference of resistance amounts 28% at ship speed of 10 km/h and 24% at ship speed of 12 km/h.

The study aims to develop and validate a Teacher Grit Scale and determine its predictive validity for performance. This quantitative research utilized exploratory, confirmatory, and regression analyses based on data from 1425 teachers of the Department of Education, Philippines. Exploratory factor analysis established the factorial validity of a 2-factor structure as compared to 3-factor and 4-factor models. Confirmatory factor analyses from Region IX and Region X of the Department of Education reveal strong cross-validation between the 2-factor models and the data using goodness-of-fit indices. These outcomes show that the factors describing grit are: (1) Perseverance in Teaching and (2) Passion and Purpose in Teaching. Grit relates significantly to teacher performance. However, only the first dimension of grit - perseverance in teaching, established predictive validity with performance.

Objectives The COVID-19 outbreak is an example of a crisis that triggered an increase in generalized anxiety disorder. The study aims to validate the Polish version of the Generalized Anxiety Disorder 7-item scale (GAD-7) by Spitzer et al. among a non-clinical sample of employees and examine the invariance depending on the gender and age of working adults. Material and Methods For assessing factor structure of the Polish version of the GAD-7, the data were collected from a sample of 821 adults employed in 4 economic sectors (health care, education, IT, public administration) during the initial phase of the COVID-19 pandemic in Poland (April 10–May 24, 2020). Due to differences in the severity of GAD symptoms across gender and age groups, the measurement invariance in these groups was tested. Results The results of a series of confirmatory factor analyses confirmed the unidimensionality of the GAD-7. The values of the composite reliability index and Cronbach’s α showed that it is a reliable tool. The GAD levels demonstrated strong relationships with professional burnout, psychological distress, and psychological complaints. These relationships were stronger than the relationships between these factors and job satisfaction. Construct, metric and scalar invariance across gender and age groups were documented. Women experienced more severe symptoms of generalized anxiety disorder than men. Generalized anxiety disorder affected 28% of respondents. Conclusions This study contributes evidence of the validation of the GAD among employees and also confirms the invariance depending on gender and age. The Polish version of the GAD-7 has good psychometric properties in a group of professionals and can be recommended for research and to be used in an occupational medicine practice, especially during crisis periods associated with the risk of developing a generalized anxiety disorder.
