The article presents the problem of safety and security in school from the perspective of a student. The necessity of system solutions for dealing with the phenomena of aggression and violence in schools and the need for the introduction of prevention programs in schools was indicated. The paper presents an analysis of the undertaken so far by the schools prevention activities which have not led to a decrease in the most common pathological behaviors among children and adolescents. The Olweus Bullying Prevention Program (OBPP), taking into account the remedial measures at the school, classes and individuals level and model Aggression Replacement Training (ART) recommended by the Ministry of National Education were presented.

Współczesne zagrożenia hybrydowe są wyzwaniem dla kreatorów bezpieczeństwa i wymagają nowych rozwiązań w celu ich zapobiegania. Jednym z takich rozwiązań jest tworzenie programów profilaktycznych zapobiegających radykalizacji i mowie nienawiści. Programy te powinny być oparte na naukowych podstawach, dobrze zaprojektowane i uwzględniające wiedzę z psychologii, socjologii, prawa i bezpieczeństwa. Programy kierowane do młodzieży powinny uwzględniać też wyzwania związane z adolescencją i być prowadzone przez specjalistów z najnowszą wiedzą, umiejętnościami i kompetencjami. Celem prezentowanego badania ewaluacyjnego programu profilaktycznego było sprawdzenie skuteczności programu edukacyjnego „Rozumiem=Szanuję”, zapobiegającego radykalizacji wiodącej do dyskryminacji i mowy nienawiści. Badanie pozwoliło stwierdzić, że założone cele programu zostały zrealizowane. W celu wszechstronnego ujęcia oceny skuteczności programu zostały przeprowadzone analizy źródeł zastanych i wywołanych oraz badania jakościowe (wywiady) i ilościowe (technika ankiety), dokonywane po realizacji poszczególnych modułów programu.
Contemporary hybrid threats are a challenge for security creators and require new solutions in their prevention. One of such solution is the construction of prevention programs to prevent radicalization and hate speech. These programs should be science-based, well-designed, and include knowledge of psychology, sociology, law, and security. Programs addressed to young people should also take into account the challenges of adolescence and should be run by specialists with up-to-date knowledge, skills and competences. The aim of the presented evaluation study of the preventive program was to check the effectiveness of the educational program preventing radicalization leading to discrimination and hate speech „Rozumiem=Szanuję” (Polish for “I Understand = I Respect”). The study shows that the assumed goals of the program were achieved. In order to comprehensively evaluate the effectiveness of the program, analyzes of existing and induced sources were carried out as well as qualitative research (interviews) and quantitative research (survey technique), conducted after the implementation of individual program modules.

Praca przedstawia charakterystykę i ewaluację policyjnych programów profilaktycznych w województwie pomorskim. Policja realizuje zadania z obszaru bezpieczeństwa i porządku publicznego ukierunkowane na poprawę stanu bezpieczeństwa. Działania te wynikają z Ustawy o Policji. Każdy program wymaga od realizujących go policjantów rzetelnej diagnozy problemów społecznych. Realizacja programu profilaktycznego wymaga nie tylko świadomości istniejących paradoksów, ale także rozwagi, wyobraźni i odpowiedzialności wszystkich realizatorów programu. Problem badawczy zogniskowany jest wokół działalności profilaktycznej Policji, a w szczególności obszarów objętych profilaktyką społeczną. Badanie procesów ewaluacji polegało na wykorzystaniu metody badawczej o charakterze ilościowym i jakościowym tj. autorskiej ankiety ewaluacyjnej programu, nadesłanej przez pomorskie jednostki Policji oraz analizy dokumentów pomorskiej Policji.
This paper presents characteristic and evaluation of Police’s social prevention programs in Pomeranian district. The Police performs actions in security as well as social order focused on improving the safety level. These arise strictly from the Police Act. Each of those programs requires, form the Policemen fulfilling it a deep and detailed analysys of social issues. It involves not only the awarness of occuring paradoxes but also consideration, imagination as well as responsibilty of all the program implementers. The research problem is focused on Police preventive actions in particular with the areas encompassed by social preventive programs. Examination of the evaluation processes required using research metod of quantitive and qualitative nature, which was an author’s poll, evaluating the program sent by Police units from Pomeranian district as well as the analysis of documents of Pomeranian’s district Police units.

Obesity is a significant social and health problem of societies world wide. Nowadays, the percentage of children suffering from overweight is increasing. This is the result of nutrition mistakes done during the first years of a young person’s life, and the lack of parental knowledge about the rules of proper nutrition. School-aged children suffering from overweight are clearly exposed to obesity in adulthood. The authors undertook to assess the nutritional habits of children attending primary schools located in the province of Lublin. The survey was conducted among a group of 150 students from three primary schools in the Lublin province. As a research method, the authors set up a survey in the printed version. The data obtained were compiled and analyzed in the Statistica 13™ (DellSoftware, USA). Over one-third (36.7%) of the children taking part in the study eat the recommended daily number of meals. Eating in the intervals between the main meals is often observed among the respondents (77.3%). Daily consumption of dairy products was declared by 20.8% of girls and 35.6% of boys. In questions about the promotion of healthy eating programs carried out at schools, the “Fruit and Vegetables at School” program was the most popular. The children who took part in the study showed mostly incorrect eating habits. The current situation requires further research and taking decisive steps by healthcare professionals, educators and parents. Consistent steps in existing programs promoting a healthy eating style will improve the epidemiological situation of abnormal nutrition among early-childhood children in the near future.

The increasing prevalence of chronic diseases, including cancers, is becoming a very serious public health problem. The main risk factor in its etiology is life style including unhealthy diet and low level of physical activity. Knowledge and health awareness regarding this issue is an essential element of oncological prevention and education aimed at changing people’s behaviour toward health-oriented. Presented results are a part of broader diagnostic activities undertaken within the Onkogranty II project. They include an analysis of internal and external preventive programs implemented in schools in Bytom in the context cancer risk factors such as low physical activity and unhealthy diet. The analysis shows that in the surveyed schools many activities are undertaken to promote a healthy diet and physical activity, but in most cases there is no reference to the cancer prevention. Many initiatives are action-based, not supported by the diagnosis of the school community’s health needs. The results obtained show that the selection of a preventive program should be preceded by a diagnosis of the needs of both students, parents and the entire school/local community. After its implementation, it would be necessary to evaluate the actions taken to assess the effectiveness of the program and introduce the necessary modifications. It is also worth taking care of regularity and helicity of the transmitted content in order to consolidate and systematize the knowledge and skills of students. Above all, taking into account epidemiological data on the prevalence of cancer, content related to oncological prevention should be included in school’s preventive and educational programs as well as in health education.

Na podstawie przeglądu piśmiennictwa przedstawiono najważniejsze elementy programów prewencyjnych, które wpływają na ich efektywność. Celem artykułu było podkreślenie wagi działań prewencyjnych, które realnie podnoszą wiedzę i wzmacniają umiejętności dzieci z zakresu reagowania na niepokojące zachowania o charakterze seksualnym.
The article presents evaluations of selected prevention programs for sexual abuse of children from Anglo-Saxon countries. Based on the literature review, the most important elements of preventive programs that affect their effectiveness are presented.The author aimed to emphasize the importance of preventive measures that realistically raise knowledge and strengthen children’s skills in responding to disturbing sexual behavior.

The aim of the article is to present the assumptions of the prevention of sexual violence against children in the school environment. Child sexual abuse has become a global problem that affects not only the family environment, but educational institutions as well. One example of such an institution is a school where, under the guise of upbringing, there may be numerous abuses committed by people who are an authority in the child’s life. School staff members are often unaware of institutional grooming and its perpetrators, which means that the entire institution may unknowingly contribute to promoting child sexual abuse. The author first presents the methods of grooming used by perpetrators, pointing to activities aimed at children and the mechanisms of institutional grooming that may create a specific culture that makes it difficult to protect children. The author then presents the standards and strategies for prevention in schools, paying attention to the need to involve the entire community: conducting proper recruitment and training of employees and constructing preventive programs adapted to the age and development of children and their proper implementation.

The article attempts to describe the currently used forms of diagnosing public security and the active - as well as possible to be introduced - forms of its improvement in the field of public security culture. Security itself is one of the basic human needs. Therefore, its level should be constantly assessed, and new opportunities to improve its research should be implemented, if their effectiveness is confirmed. This practice may contribute to increasing the sense of security in society.

It is impossible to overestimate the value of prevention and its effectiveness in any aspect of every human’s life.  The aim of this article - which is theoretical and empirical in its character - is to present the importance of preventive measures directed to parents as a form of protecting children from harm. The article contains a definition of prophylaxis, a brief outline of trends in contemporary prevention activities, a description of the role of parents in the difficult process of upbringing and protecting their children; it also illustrates parents' level of knowledge about child abuse prevention. The article  touches upon what parents expect from  specialized activities, how can they  convert acquired skills into positive changes within the family and what are the most common reasons for using professional help. The opportunity to talk, exchange views, gain professional knowledge, aid and support, helps to quickly cope with crisis situations and shows the ways to restore the psychological balance of the parent, which is indispensable in the proper relations with the child. The presented paper describes a direct positive effect of participation in preventive activities on the situation of families with small children. It presents the results of empirical research conducted among parents making use of the offer of the Dajemy Dzieciom Siłę Foundation.
Nie sposób przecenić wartości profilaktyki i jej efektywności w dowolnym aspekcie życia każdego człowieka. Celem niniejszego artykułu – o charakterze teoretyczno-empirycznym – jest zaprezentowanie znaczenia działań profilaktycznych skierowanych do rodziców, jako formy ochrony dzieci przed krzywdzeniem. Artykuł zawiera definicję profilaktyki, krótki zarys trendów we współczesnych działaniach prewencyjnych, opis roli rodziców w trudnym procesie wychowania i ochrony dzieci, jak również zobrazowanie poziomu wiedzy rodziców na temat profilaktyki krzywdzenia dzieci, ich oczekiwań odnośnie działań specjalistycznych, przełożenia zdobytych umiejętności na pozytywne zmiany w obrębie rodziny oraz najczęstszych przyczyn korzystania z profesjonalnej pomocy. Możliwość rozmowy, wymiany poglądów, zdobycia profesjonalnej wiedzy, wsparcia i pomocy pomaga dość szybko opanować sytuacje kryzysowe i przywrócić równowagę psychiczną rodzica, tak niezbędną w prawidłowych relacjach z dzieckiem. Zaprezentowany materiał ukazuje bezpośredni pozytywny wpływ uczestniczenia w działaniach prewencyjnych na sytuację rodzin z małymi dziećmi. Przedstawia wyniki badań empirycznych, przeprowadzonych wśród rodziców korzystających z oferty Fundacji Dajemy Dzieciom Siłę.

Opis:
Celem artykułu jest zbadanie, w jaki sposób wiedza naukowa wykorzystywana jest przy przygotowywaniu, wdrażaniu oraz ocenie realizacji powiatowych programów zapobiegania przestępczości oraz ochrony bezpieczeństwa obywateli i porządku publicznego. Analizy zostały osadzone w nurcie prewencji kryminalnej  opartej o dowody naukowe. Przeprowadzono jakościową analizę powiatowych polityk bezpieczeństwa powiatów województwa świętokrzyskiego, które zostały zrekonstruowane w oparciu o treść powiatowych programów zapobiegania przestępczości oraz corocznych sprawozdań komisji bezpieczeństwa. Na podstawie uzyskanych danych oraz przedstawionych standardów Beccaria przygotowano narzędzie służące do oceny stopnia wykorzystania wiedzy naukowej w ramach powiatowych polityk bezpieczeństwa. Z przeprowadzanych analiz wynika, że pomimo szerokich możliwości wykorzystania wiedzy naukowej do przygotowania, wdrożenia i oceny programów prewencyjnych, wiedza naukowa nie jest często stosowana.
The aim of this paper is to investigate how scientific evidence is used in the preparation, implementation, and final evaluation of local crime prevention strategies and the protection of citizens’ security and public order. The analysis is conducted using an evidence-based crime prevention approach. A qualitative analysis has been made of the local security strategies of the local self-government of the Świętokrzyskie voivodeship, which have been reconstructed from the content of poviat crime prevention strategies and annual reports of the security commission. Based on the conclusions presented in the Beccaria Standards, a tool has been prepared to assess the degree to which scientific knowledge was used in poviat security strategies. The analysis shows that although there are different possibilities for using scientific evidence to prepare, implement, and evaluate preventive strategies, scientific knowledge is not often used.
