Opis:
Landfilling and stockpiling unrecycled colored container glass represents a considerable failure in sustainability with respect to the conservation of energy and mineral resources. In this study, the single-step hydrothermal synthesis of low-silica zeolites from a mixture of waste green container glass and aluminum foil (Al:Si = 1) in 4 M NaOH(aq) at 125 °C was followed at 1, 3, 7 and 14 days. The principal phases, sodalite and cancrinite, appeared within 1 day accompanied by minor quantities of hydrogarnet and tobermorite arising from a stoichiometric excess of calcium ions in the parent glass. Products of 63, 67, 71 and 72% crystallinity were obtained at 1, 3, 7 and 14 days, respectively, with partial successive conversion of sodalite to cancrinite over time. Ion-exchange and catalytic applications of sodalite and cancrinite arise from the high anionic charge of the 1:1 ratio of alternating SiO44- and AlO45units within their aluminosilicate frameworks. In this respect, the uptake capacity of the 14-day zeolitic product for Cu2+ and Cd2+ ions (1.58 meq g-1 and 1.66 meq g-1, respectively) was within the expected range for zeolites and compared favorably with those reported for other inorganic sorbents derived from industrial and municipal wastes. The 14-day product was also found to be an effective basic heterogeneous catalyst for the Knoevenagel condensation reaction.

Hydrothermal synthesis of hydroxyapatite (HA) is a method which is relatively easy to apply and enables HA precipitation on substrates of various shapes, which is vital to endoprostheses fabrication. Anodic oxidation facilitates HA precipitation, making the coating thicker and more uniform. In this paper the influence of anodic oxidation of titanium substrates on HA precipitation in hydrothermal synthesis is discussed. To determine chemical composition and coating uniformity of anodised and polished Ti substrates the Raman microspectroscopy was employed. The composition was also confirmed using X-ray diffraction method. HA coatings on Ti after anodic oxidation exhibit higher uniformity in comparison to untreated Ti. The X-ray diffraction patterns showed that the HA coating was partly amorphous. Also influence of additional treatment (soaking in NaOH and/or HBSS) after anodic oxidation is discussed in the present paper. It seems that pretreatment may be favourable in some cases, but if the anodic oxidation was conducted in the presence of calcium phosphates the pretreatment seems to prevent the HA precipitation.

In this research work, high uniform CuFeS2 chalcopyrite with 20-40 nm particles were synthesized via a simple hydrothermal method. Different analysis were used to characterize the obtained product such as X-ray diffraction pattern (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA). The photocatalytic activity of the product was investigated by degradation three different dyes namely acid brown, acid red and methylene blue. The results showed the synthesized CuFeS2 nanoparticles have high photocatalytic activity and can degrade the used dyes in large quantities.

Current environmental directives to conserve resources and to divert waste streams have generated significant interest in mineral recycling. In this respect, this preliminary study has demonstrated that lithium metasilicate can be prepared by hydrothermal reaction between waste container glass and lithium hydroxide solutions at 100 °C. Minor proportions of calcium hydroxide, calcite, lithium carbonate and tobermorite were also produced during the reaction. Percentage crystallinity and proportion of lithium metasilicate in the reaction product were found to increase as functions of lithium hydroxide concentration (between 1 and 4 M). This research has also shown that the lithium metasilicate phase can take up 6.4 mmol/g of Zn2+ ions after 24 h during batch sorption. Further work to optimise the yield and to appraise the antimicrobial properties of Zn2+-bearing lithium metasilicate is now warranted.

W niniejszej pracy przedstawiono i omówiono hydrotermalną syntezę spinelu cynkowo-glinowego ZnAl2O4. Reakcje przeprowadzane były w reaktorze mikrofalowym ERTEC. Określono wpływ parametrów procesu (ciśnienie, temperatura, czas) na właściwości otrzymanego spinelu. Odpowiednio dobrane parametry procesu pozwoliły na uzyskanie spinelu o wielkości ziaren poniżej 10 nm. Zamieszczone w artykule wyniki badań autor przedstawił w swojej rozprawie doktorskiej.
In this paper results of hydrothermal synthesis of zinc-aluminum spinel ZnAI204 were presented and discussed. Reactions were carried out in a microwave reactor ERTEC. The influence of process parameters (pressure, temperature and time) on the properties of obtained spinel powder were examined. Properly selected process parameters enabled a spinel particle size below 10 nm. Results described in the article were presented in author's PhD thesis.

The phonon energy of $YVO_4$ crystal is lower than other usual compounds of salt. So it is suitable as host material for down-conversion materials. Hydrothermal method was adopted to synthesize $YVO_4$ phosphor powder with the use of yttrium oxide and sodium vanadate as raw material. The change in the relative integral intensity of the (200) and (112) diffraction peaks indicates that macroscopic stress in the lattice obviously changes with the elevated hydrothermal reaction temperature. The $YVO_4$ phosphor powder synthesized involves a certain agglomeration of small particles. The phonon vibration in the $YVO_4$ originates mainly from the internal vibrations in the vanadium-oxygen tetrahedron, in addition to the Y-O and O-H vibrations. Due to a low phonon energy of only $2.8188 × 10^{-21} J$, $YVO_4$ helps to improve the down-conversion efficiency of rare-earth ions. A bandgap value of approximately 3.8 eV for the synthesized $YVO_4$ powders leads to good absorption properties in the ultraviolet region. Upon excitation by the 320 nm ultraviolet photon, the intrinsic emission of $YVO_4$ powders is annihilated, and a broadband emission of $VO_4^{3-}$ near 450 nm is observed at room temperature. The $YVO_4$ phosphor powder synthesized at 180C exhibits the maximum photoluminescence intensity because of its excellent crystallization.

In the present work, Hydroxyapatite synthesis was carried out using hydrothermal method with calcium nitrate tetrahydrate (Ca(NO3)2.4H2O) and fosfor pentaoksit (P2O5) as precursors. For the hydrothermal method, constant reaction temperature (180°C) and different reaction times (6 hours, 12 hours, 18 hours and 24 hours) were determined. The samples produced were divided into two groups. Four samples were not heat treatment; four samples were heat treatment at 700°C for 1 hour. The obtained products were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) techniques, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and UV-Vis spectrometer. SEM photos showed that the Hydroxyapatite powders produced are in the form of the agglomerate. According to EDS results, Hydroxyapatite samples are of high purity. XRD’s findings confirm that the diffraction peaks correspond to the pure phase of Hydroxyapatite. A general decrease was observed in the energy band gap of the samples with increasing hydrothermal reaction time.

Pure and 10 mol% $Fe^{3+}$ doped $CeO_2$ nanocrystals were synthesized by hydrothermal method using two different basic solutions ($NH_4OH$ and NaOH). All the samples were calcinated at 140°C and 200°C. The characterization of crystalline structure, vibrational and optical properties was performed using X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy and spectroscopic ellipsometry. The obtained results showed that the Fe-doped samples are solid solutions with different size of nanocrystals, very dependent on the synthesis temperature and type of basic solution. The Raman measurements demonstrated electron molecular vibrational coupling and increase of oxygen vacancy concentration whereas doping provokes a small decrease of optical absorption edge in comparison with pure ceria.

Microwave hydrothermal synthesis processes allow to obtain the nanopowders of extremely high quality. However, their disadvantage in terms of industrial applications is low productivity. The article presents a technological system that breaks this barrier. A novel chemical reactor is described. The reactor has a unique design of process chamber, which used in conjunction with a batch control system allows highly efficient production of nanopowders to be obtained. The design of the reactor together with new principles of operation, structural materials, and distribution of electromagnetic field are described. The paper also presents a control system for the reactor, which allows for automatic operation in the stop-flow mode, control of process pressure, continuous monitoring of process parameters and safe operation of the device.
Mikrofalowe hydrotermalne procesy syntezy pozwalają na uzyskiwanie nanoproszków o wyjątkowo wysokiej jakości. Natomiast ich wadą w aspekcie zastosowań przemysłowych jest niska wydajność. W artykule przedstawiono system technologiczny, który przełamuje tę barierę. Opracowano nowy typ reaktora, posiadającego unikatową konstrukcję komory procesowej, co w połączeniu z zastosowanym systemem sterowania wsadowego pozwala na uzyskiwanie dużej wydajności produkcji nanoproszków. Opisano konstrukcję reaktora z uwzględnieniem nowej zasady działania, materiałów konstrukcyjnych, rozkładu pola elektromagnetycznego. Przedstawiono system sterowania urządzeniem, który zapewnia automatyczną realizację procesów, regulację ciśnienia procesu, ciągłe monitorowanie parametrów procesów oraz zachowanie bezpieczeństwa obsługi urządzenia.

The aim of the present work is to compare two methods of synthesis of nanocrystallline zinc oxide doped with iron oxide. The synthesis was carried out using microwave asssisted hydrothermal synthesis and traditional wet chemistry method followed by calcination. The phase composition of the samples was determined using X-ray diffraction measurements. Depending on the chemical composition of the samples, hexagonal ZnO, and/or cubic $ZnFe_{2}O_{4}$ were identified. The morphology of the received materials was characterized using scanning electron microscopy. Two different structures of agglomerates were observed: a hexagonal structure (corresponding to zinc oxide) and spherical (corresponding to spinel phase). The effect of the iron oxide concentration on specific surface area and density of the samples was determined.

Cerium, the most abundant rare earth element, and boron containing mineral (lithium tetraborate pentahydrate) were used for synthesizing rare earth borates. Alternatively, for preparing rare earth borates, hydrothermal technique can be used. The non-stoichiometric cerium and boron containing compounds were synthesized by hydrothermal method using cerium sulphate and lithium tetraborate pentahydrate in appropriate molar ratio. Characterizations were done by X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy/energy dispersive X-ray analysis, and thermogravimetric/differential thermal analysis.

W artykule przedstawiono automatyzację procesu mikrofalowej hydrotermalnej syntezy nanoproszków. Jej zasadniczymi elementami są: nowy typ reaktora oraz jego system sterowania. Reaktor posiada unikatową konstrukcję komory procesowej, co w połączeniu z zastosowanym systemem sterowania wsadowego pozwala na uzyskiwanie dużej wydajności produkcji nanoproszków. Opisano konstrukcję reaktora z uwzględnieniem nowej zasady działania, materiałów konstrukcyjnych, rozkładu pola elektromagnetycznego. Przedstawiono system sterowania urządzeniem, który zapewnia automatyczną realizacje procesów w trybie stop-flow, regulacje ciśnienia procesu, ciągłe monitorowanie parametrów procesów oraz zachowanie bezpieczeństwa obsługi urządzenia.

In this study, Strontium Bismuth Niobate (SrBi2-xTmxNb2O9 with 0 ≤ x ≤ 0.1) doped by Tm was synthesized using by the hydrothermal method. The microstructure and electrical properties were mainly investigated. XRD analysis showed a single-phase orthorhombic structure for Tm-doped SrBi2Nb2O9 samples. The crystallite size is anisotropic and the strain is apparently independent of Tm amount. Dielectric properties for doped SrBi2Nb2O9 with Tm3+ ion have the same trend discussed for the pure sample. FTIR resulats showed that NbO6 octahedral is formed, on one hand, and on the other hand, it shows that spectras for doped and undoped samples are nearly the same. The Cross-section of ceramics showed the plate-like morphology, also the distribution of the pore in ceramics are observed for all samples. Tm dopants produce only minor changes in the impendence parameter values at room temperature. The luminescent (PL) properties of Tm-doped SrBi2Nb2O9 ceramic powders were investigated. The optimum Tm3+ concentration for the maximum PL intensity was found to be at x = 0.075.

Na podstawie badań popiołu pochodzącego z Elektrowni "Halemba" stwierdzono, że jednym ze sposobów jego utylizacji może być uzyskiwanie zeolitów, a głównie jednego przedstawiciela z tej grupy minerałów - analcymu. Hydrotermalna synteza wymaga aktywacji popiołu roztworem NaOH. Syntezę taką wykonano w temperaturze 170°C. Popioły lotne aktywowano roztworem 3,6% Na20 w czasie 6 godzin. Uzyskano produkt zawierający analcym. Aktywacja chemiczna popiołu roztworem NaCl o stężeniu 3,6% w przeliczeniu na Na20 nie dała zadowalających efektów.
It is ascertained on base of carried research of ash fly from "Halemba" Power Station, that zeolite production can be alternative direction of its utilization, but mainly representative as analcime. This synthesis requires chemical activation of ash solution NaOH. Zeolite hydrothermal synthesis was conducted at temperature 170°C on the basis of activated with 3,6% Na20 solution ash fly in 6 hours time reaction. Finally obtain product include analcime. Chemical activation of NaCl solution (3,6% Na20) ash fly does not give conversion to zeolite.

Numerous technical, economic and societal factors limit the recycling of waste soda-lime-silica glass back into the primary production process and accordingly alternative applications for this material are sought. This study demonstrates that waste soda-lime-silica container glass is a suitable feedstock material for the production of tobermorite, a calcium silicate cation exchanger. Tobermorites were synthesised at 100 °C from stoichiometric mixtures of container glass and lime under alkaline hydrothermal conditions. Increasing concentrations of sodium hydroxide (between 1.0 M and 4.0 M) in the reaction mixture promoted the formation and crystallisation of tobermorite, and also resulted in greater fragmentation of the silicate chains along the b-axis direction. The maximum removal capacities of these tobermorite specimens for Cd2+ (441 mg g-1) and Zn2+ (122 mg g-1) compared well with those of other waste-derived sorbents. Superior Cd2+- and Zn2+-uptake capacities and kinetics were observed for the least crystalline tobermorite specimen, indicating that stacking defects facilitate the transport and exchange of cations within the lattice.
