Opis:
Lack of heating uniformity is a major problem impeding the broader adaptation of radio frequency heaters in industrial applications. The overall aim of this study was to evaluate the uniformity of heating or temperature distribution within food samples (three different carrot and one radish rectangles) placed vertically and horizontally within a radio frequency heating cavity. The intensity of the electric field in radio frequency was found to be symmetrical. The temperatures at the vertically top positions were lower than the vertically bottom positions at the equidistance from the vertical center with the highest was at the vertically central position. The rate of temperature rise at all the positions were higher in taller (higher mass) than the shorter (lower mass) rectangles of carrots. The temperatures at the corners and edges were lower than at the cross sectionally central positions at all the heights tested in both carrots and radishes. The rate of temperature rise at all the vertical positions was higher in radish rectangles than in the carrot rectangles of the same dimensions. The similarity of temperature distribution in carrot and radish rectangles suggested that the heating patterns and uniformity in carrots and radishes in RF heating were almost the same.

Opis:
African swine fever is an acute, febrile and highly virulent porcine disease causing serious economic losses worldwide. The pK205R protein of the African swine fever virus (ASFV) is largely expressed in the early stages of infection, which has given the K205R gene extensive attention. In this study, the ASFV K205R was cloned and expressed in Escherichia coli BL21 (DE3). Expression of histidine-tagged pK205R with a molecular mass of 44 kDa was determined by 12% sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) and Western blot analysis. Optimisation of culture conditions allowed induction of the recombinant protein with 0.4 mM Isopropyl β-D-thiogalactoside (IPTG) at 37oC for 2 h. The protein existed in cellular supernatant and was purified using a Ni-NTA resin column. The purified protein was used to immunize rabbits four times to enable the production of polyclonal antibodies, and the antiserum titre was detected by ELISA. The results showed that the purified pK205R can react with ASFV positive serum specifically by Western blotting. The pK205R had high antigenicity, which indicated that pK205R could be used as an antigen for detection of ASFV-specific antibodies in ELISA testing, and the recombinant protein could contribute to further research of the action and structure of pK205R.

Opis:
This study investigates a digital control system which is used in bearingless permanent magnet synchronous motors (BPMSMs). Compared with traditional permanent magnet synchronous motors, a BPMSM is characterized by higher speed and no mechanic friction. Therefore, the application value of the latter to the special area is higher than that of the former. An analysis from previous work on the BPMSM had proved its feasibility, and some performances such as suspension force, inductance and so on were also investigated. Based on this analysis, this study focuses on solving control problems in practical applications by designing a control system. The control system design includes overall schematic, hardware and software designs. Main software systems, including the force/current transform module and closed loop control module for radial displacement, are analyzed. Interface circuit for radial displacement, current feedback circuit and dead zone protection circuit are designed for the hardware system. Finally, several performance experiments have been conducted to verify the effectiveness of the designed digital control system. Experiment results indicate that the rotor has unique characteristics, such as stable suspension performance, good start-of-suspension performance, and rapid anti-disturbance features.

Opis:
The thermal damage in octahydro-1,3,5,7-tetranitro-1,3,5,7-tetrazocine (HMX) based plastic-bonded explosive (PBX) was investigated using in situ small-angle neutron and X-ray scattering techniques. The microstructural evolution was quantitatively characterized by the model fitting parameters of total interfacial surface area (Sv) and void volume distribution. The Sv of HMX-PBX decreased markedly above 100 °C, indicating the movement of binder into the voids. After subsequent cooling to room temperature, the scattering intensity increased significantly with increasing storage time, and a new population of voids with average diameter of 20 nm was observed, accompanied by the gradual phase transition of HMX from δ- to β-phase. The experimental results implied that serious damage within the HMX-PBX was developed during storage after heating.
