    Opis:
    The subject represents mainly the significant changes in the Nature Conservation Act for removal of trees and shrubs, which are valid from 19 July 2010 (the Act of 21 May 2010 amending the Law on Provision of Information on the environment and its protection, public participation in environmental protection and on environmental impact assessments and other acts). They regulate, inter alia, the process of taking decisions, making some changes as to the relevance of the body, they also include modifications to the contents of the proposal to remove the tree or shrub, lengthen the tree age, which does not require a permit to remove and describe the acceptable procedures within the tree crown. The speech also contains informations important for applicants about the competence of the Department of Environment and Agriculture within the scope of decisions rendering. In addition, it informs about the statistics data of land in Wroclaw in the rendered administrative decisions, about the number of removed trees and compensation planting commitments in the years 2005-2009 and about the draft subsequent amendments in the Nature Conservation Act of the government bill of 22 September 2010.

    The paper focuses on the use of Landsat−Thematic Mapper satellite images for assessing the extent of sawfly (Diprionidae) feeding in the Kozienicka Forests. The geographic information system used in the study allowed for the integration of the inventory and imagery data, as well as image processing, photoin−terpretation, classification and spatial analyses.

    Usługi ekosystemowe zostały wskazane jako instrument wspierający ocenę efektów działań gmin na rzecz ochrony środowiska. W analizie wykorzystano matrycę usług ekosystemowych, pozwalającą na ocenę działań w trzech wybranych gminach w zakresie gospodarki wodnej wg stanu przed wykonaniem rekomendowanego przez Programy Ochrony Środowiska zadania, po jego wykonaniu oraz wg korzyści końcowej dla danego typu usługi. Otrzymano dodatkową informację o trendach świadczonych usług środowiskowych. Analiza zmian usług ekosystemowych stanowi kompleksowe podejście, które może zapobiec działaniom naruszającym bezpieczeństwo ekologiczne. Wielopoziomowa edukacja uświadamiająca ekonomiczne i społeczne znaczenie zmian w zaopatrzeniu w usługi środowiskowe jest niezbędna.
    Ecosystem services have been identified as an instrument supporting the assessment of the effects of municipalities’ activities on environmental protection. The analysis uses the matrix of ecosystem services, which allows the assessment of activities in three selected municipalities in the field of water management according to the state before the implementation of tasks recommended by Environmental Protection Programs, after its implementation and according to the final benefit for a given type of service. Additional information about the trends of environmental services provided was received. Analysis of changes in ecosystem services is a comprehensive approach that can prevent activities that violate ecological safety. Multilevel education of realizing the economic and social meaning of changes in suppling in ecosystem services is indispensable.

    The utilization of spectroscopic methods in polymer chemistry allows obtaining the necessary information to identify the chemical structure of compounds and moreover different processes studies, starting from initiator synthesis, their behaviour at various conditions (e.g. during thermal decomposition), through the other polymerization substrates and products study, and also other processes - polymers modification or destruction investigations.

    Opis:
    W pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań modyfikacji powierzchniowej nanocząstek TiO2 SiO2 (hydrofilowych i hydrofobowych) stosując 3-aminopropylotrietoksysilan (APTES) w toluenie i metyloizobutyloketonie (MIBK) dla TiO2 oraz APTES w metyloizobutyloketonie oraz kwas oleinowy (OA) w środowisku n-heksanu dla SiO2. Ocenę efektywności modyfikacji powierzchniowej przeprowadzono na podstawie widm IR oraz UV-Vis. W widmach IR uzyskanych dla obu rodzajów nanocząstek SiO2 stwierdzono obecność grup aminosilanowych po modyfikacji APTES-em, co świadczy o zajściu reakcji pomiędzy związkiem modyfikującym a powierzchnią nanocząstek. Widma IR dla nanocząstek SiO2 modyfikowanych OA w heksanie wskazują na częściową modyfikację nanocząstek hydrofilowych SiO2 i brak reakcji z nanocząstkami hydrofobowymi.
    Surface modification of TiO2 and SiO2 (hydrophilic and hydrophobic) nanoparticles with 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES) in toluene and methylizobutylketone (MIBK) for TiO2 , and with APTES in MIBK and oleic acid (OA) in n-hexane for SiO2 was performed. The IR and UV-Vis spectroscopy was used to evaluate the effect of surface modification. The IR spectra of SiO2 nanoparticles revealed the presence of aminosilane groups after modification with APTES thus evidencing the reaction between modifying agent and nanoparticle surface. The IR spectra of SiO2 nanoparticles modified with OA in hexane revealed partial modification of hydrophilic nanoparticles while no evidence of surface modification for hydrophobic nanoparticles was noticed.

    In Poland, investigations of nematode parasites of insects had not been carried out at all. The present study is aimed at gaining information on the parasitic nematofauna of the most common insect pests and on its influence on the abundance of the latter. We have taken the term parasitic nematofauna to mean nematodes living in the body of insects - whatever the type of relation with the host. More than 10000 examinations of insect pests, carried out in the years 1965-1966 have disclosed the existence of nematodes in their bodies. Analyses of grubs Melotontha sp.) and of adult forms of Colorado beetle were of greatest interest. It was found that some of the grubs were greatly infested with nematodes, chiefly with Cephalobellus papilliger Cobb (Thelastomatidae) although no harm was inflicted on the hostes by the nematodes. Several examinations of adult hibernating Colorado beetles revealed that most of them were infested with nematodes belonging to the Diplogasteridae family. All infested Colorado beetles perished in a short time. We have worked out a method for culturing this species of nematodes on artificial media. Moreover attempts at biological control of Colorado beetle were made by spraying the beetles with a water suspension of nematodes. The results were successful and this method may prove of use in insect control. Numerous summertime post-mortem examinations of larvae and adult forms of Colorado beetle have revealed that in the southern regions of Poland nematodes belonging to the Mermithidae family, play an essential role in reducing the abundance of Colorado beetle.
