Opis:
The present analysis consists of several insights into the nature and the tendencies of mutual lexical dependencies between medical language (medical terminology) and other subsystems of Italian, both common and specialist. It summarizes remarks made by numerous scholars, scattered in various compilations devoted to 'usi specialistici della lingua' (language for specfic purposes). Three kinds of relationship are brought under discussion: first, between general lexicon and medical terminology; second, between medicine conceived of as a branch and other specialized domains; third, between various scientific domains and medicine. The scope of research is by no means restricted to specialized texts. By contrast, the extent to which various inner languages are interlinked is corroborated by examples drawn from press releases encompassing various topics (news, politics, health). Detailed observations are illustrated with such Italian terms as: arteria, patologia, trauma, plasma, emorragia, polpa, tromba, and so on. It should be emphasized that mutual interference owes its existence to the upsurge of modern information technologies, as well as to an increasing access to information.

This article directs attention to some particular features of language acquisition and contrastive analysis in teaching L2. Presented comments refer to Polish learners of Italian language. Contrastive grammar mentioned in the article refers to the method widely used in glottodidactics which identifies the similarities and differences between two language systems. This leads to the improvement of the learning process and as a result – language competition.

The present analysis aims at systematizing sparse remarks revolving around teaching of languages for special purposes (LSP). Detailed data were collected by observation within Polish academic circles. More precisely, they are based on past working experience gained among students boasting a high level of language proficiency. Apart from general tendencies, more streamlined requirements have been formulated on a par with their particular consequences.

This study examines some formulations which raise doubts as they allow themselves to be interpreted in an equivocal mode in the course of learning and teaching of specialist Italian. To illustrate the complexity of these lexical/terminological solutions based on consultations and opinions, managed by doctors and professionals in medicine with free access on the website of www.corrieredellasera.it, in the Medicine section: Health. The classification of the examples is based on the subdivision established by Lepschy on enantiosemy. The description completes the clarifications adapted to the concepts of signification, meaning and comprehension.

The article examines the role of food in shaping the Italian national identity based on the example of Italian football language in the most-read Italian newspaper entitled “La Gazzetta dello Sport” (www.gazzetta. it). At first, the concept of identity is analyzed and then its particular shades in the case of Italy and the attitude of Italians toward food, its importance and widespread occurrence within the entire country will be discussed. In fact, the food is a factor which seems to be a bonding element for all Italians and a means of expressing the current Italian national identity. The author identifies it as the Italian culinary identity. The phenomenon can be observed in such presently existing Italian culinary terms as cioccolatino, brodino, biscotto, spezzatino, mangiarsi un gol and the like that are used in Italian football news.
