    The aim of the research was to characterize the situation of intellectually disabled individuals and their families, with special stress on parents’ doubts and dilemmas which grow as their disabled children mature and enter adulthood. The subject of the study was to analyze the processual character of transformations related to bringing up children with intellectual disabilities that take place in generational families, in particular, those which are related to transformations on the level of parents’ perceptions, role, and identity. These notions were reconstructed on the basis of the personal experiences of parents of disabled children. The theoretical basis of the research was the concept of a trajectory of suffering, and the applied methodology was the grounded theory methodology.

    The article concerns the methodological and theoretical aspects of research carried out in the environment of intellectually disabled people. The issues of intellectual disability pose a challenge for researchers; individuals with an intellectual disability constitute a specific group, the research of which requires an interpretative approach, that is, open and flexible research methods. Therefore, the main stress in the article is on proving the usefulness of the interpretative perspective, along with the advantages of adopting the grounded theory methodology to research this category of people. These approaches make it possible to adjust the research strategy to the characteristics of the explored research area. They allow for in-depth analysis of empirical data and thus create conditions for an accurate depiction of the researched environment. Making reference to research on the environment of intellectually disabled people, the usefulness of grounded theory methodology procedures was assessed in a broader context of research conducted in the interpretative paradigm.

    Głównym celem artykułu jest przedstawienie ogólnej charakterystyki oraz podstawowych zasad, na jakich funkcjonuje oprogramowanie CAQDAS1. W artykule zaprezentowano również kilka przykładowych i bezpłatnych programów z rodziny CAQDAS, które stanowią alternatywę dla odpłatnych wersji tego rodzaju oprogramowania. Wskazano także na najważniejsze funkcje opisywanych programów służących do wspomagania analizy danych jakościowych. Artykuł ma ponadto na celu podkreślenie najważniejszych zalet oprogramowania CAQDAS, ale też przedstawienie niektórych ograniczeń i ewentualnych problemów, jakie może powodować jego zastosowanie w badaniach jakościowych.
    The main objective of the paper is to present the characteristics and the fundamental principles of the computer assisted qualitative data analysis. The article also includes some examples of free CAQDAS, which are an alternative to the expensive version of this software. It is also the most important functions of the programs, which are obtained at the disposal of users interested in computer assisted qualitative data analysis. The paper is also intended to highlight the most important advantages of CAQDAS and present some of the limitations and potential problems which may result using the software.

    Purpose of the conducted research was to analyze a processual dimension of transformations of a disabled person’s life, which take place under influence of experiences related to sport practicing. A basis for realization of the purpose mentioned above were personal experiences of the researched individuals. Hence, the research exploits qualitative data, collected during unstructured interviews, conducted among the disabled practicing sports. Analysis and interpretation of the research material was performed in accordance with procedures of the grounded theory. The article has been prepared as a consequence of research carried out between 2012 and 2015, among a society of the disabled, who practice professional sports. This research poses an attempt to develop a general characteristic related to the sports career path, which regarding its specificity, is strongly rooted in the institutionalized inclusion practices, as well as continuing and maintaining the main actions, which is sport practicing by the disabled individuals.
    Celem przeprowadzonych badań była analiza procesualnego wymiaru przemian w życiu osoby niepełnosprawnej dokonująca się pod wpływem doświadczeń związanych z uprawianiem sportu. Podstawą do realizacji powyższego celu były osobiste doświadczenia badanych osób. Z tego względu w badaniach wykorzystałem dane jakościowe uzyskane za pomocą wywiadów swobodnych, przeprowadzone wśród osób niepełnosprawnych uprawiających sport. Analiza i interpretacja materiału badawczego prowadzona była zgodnie z procedurami metodologii teorii ugruntowanej. Artykuł powstał jako rezultat badań przeprowadzonych w latach 2012–2015 wśród społeczności osób niepełnosprawnych zajmujących się uprawianiem sportu wyczynowego. Badania te stanowią próbę ogólnej charakterystyki dotyczącej ścieżki kariery sportowej, która ze względu na swoją specyfikę ma silne zakorzenienie w zinstytucjonalizowanych praktykach inicjacyjnych dotyczących włączania, kontynuowania i podtrzymywania głównego działania, jakim jest uprawianie sportu przez osoby niepełnosprawne.

    The paper is devoted to creating and articulating the identity of parents of children with intellectual disability. In this work, I have sought to deconstruct identity reconstruction in parents of children with intellectual disability and learn about the ways these parents perceive the world around them, making sense of certain elements, which in turn provides a basis for them to take action to shape their living space. Therefore, to embed the analysis in a broader theoretical perspective, I refer to the crucial assumptions of research on social life that derive from the theory of symbolic interactionism. The research material came from interviews about the parents’ personal experiences. The data were analysed according to the grounded methodology principles.
    Artykuł poświęcony jest problematyce tworzenia i artykułowania tożsamości rodziców dzieci z niepełnosprawnością intelektualną. W niniejszej pracy dąży się do zdekonstruowania procesu rekonstrukcji tożsamości rodziców dzieci z niepełnosprawnością intelektualną oraz poznania sposobów, w jakie rodzice dzieci z niepełnosprawnością postrzegają otaczający ich świat, usensowniając w określony sposób pewne jego elementy, co z kolei stanowi podstawę do podjęcia przez nich działań, poprzez które kształtować będą przestrzeń swojego życia. W związku z tym, by osadzić analizę, jaką przedstawia niniejsze opracowanie, w szerszej perspektywie teoretycznej odwołano się do kluczowych założeń studiów nad życiem społecznym, jakie wyłaniają się z koncepcji symbolicznego interakcjonizmu. Jako materiał badawczy posłużyły wywiady nieustrukturyzowane na temat osobistych doświadczeń rodziców, natomiast analizę danych poprowadzono zgodnie z zasadami metodologii ugruntowanej.

    Purpose: The purpose of the research is to analyze the role that sport plays in the lives of persons with physical disabilities within the process of rehabilitation and the improvement of their quality of life. Background: The article raises the notions of changes that take place in the life of a physically handicapped person which is due to their engagement in a sports activity. In the article, I refer to the subjective perspective of those researched, rendering their own point of view into the major subject of analysis. Methods: Qualitative data are exploited in the research, collected through a technique of unstructured interviews and undisguised observations conducted among the disabled practicing sports. Findings: The role of sport practiced by the disabled has been determined within several contexts, which were distinguished within the course of the research as analytical categories. Conclusion: On the basis of the research it was found that getting involved in a sports activity is significant within the process of experiencing life satisfaction, personal development and the reconstruction of the ego, self-identity, and transformations in the manner of perceiving both themselves and others. Therefore, a sports activity of a disabled person supports the rehabilitation process effectively.

    Celem artykułu jest analiza rekonstrukcji wizerunku dotyczącego dwóch kategorii osób niepełnosprawnych: aktywnych oraz biernych fizycznie. Z jednej strony skupiam się na sposobie, w jaki osoby niepełnosprawne postrzegają własną sytuację, biorąc pod uwagę ich status jako uprawiających bądź nieuprawiających sportu. Z drugiej zaś staram się określić to, jak wspomniane osoby rekonstruują swój wizerunek podlegający ocenie innych ludzi w zależności od tego, czy wykazują się aktywnością, czy biernością fizyczną. W tym celu odwołuję się do opinii osób niepełnosprawnych na temat ich samych (jaźń subiektywna), a także ich oceny tego, jak są postrzegane przez ludzi pełnosprawnych (jaźń odzwierciedlona). Innymi słowy, jest to skonfrontowanie wizerunku osoby niepełnosprawnej aktywnej oraz biernej fizycznie z opiniami i odczuciami dokonywanymi bezpośrednio przez badanych z ich wizerunkiem zapośredniczonym przez opinie innych ludzi.
    The article is intended to analyze reconstruction of an image related to two categories of disabled persons: those physically active and passive. On the one hand, I focus on the way, which the disable individuals perceive their own situation in, considering their status as persons who practice or do not practice sport. On the other, I attempt to determine how the said individuals reconstruct their image subject to assessment by others, depending on whether they are physically active or passive. For that purpose, I make references to the disabled individuals’ opinions on their own (subjective self), and their evaluation of how they are seen by the fully capable persons (reflected self). In other words, it is confrontation of an image of physically active and passive persons with opinions and feelings experienced directly by the respondents, with their image arising from other people’s opinions.

    Już od dłuższego czasu obserwuje się rosnące zainteresowanie badaczy, naukowców, ale także praktyków prowadzących badania jakościowe narzędziami, które mogłyby wspomóc proces analityczny. Mimo to tematyka CAQDAS (komputerowego wspomagania analizy danych jakościowych) nie znalazła jak dotąd swojego miejsca w zbyt wielu rodzimych opracowaniach. To skłoniło nas do podjęcia współpracy w szerszym gronie badaczy, czego wynikiem jest ów tom, poświęcony niniejszej problematyce. Znajdują się w nim teksty osób, które wzięły udział w grupie tematycznej zorganizowanej podczas XV Zjazdu Socjologicznego w Szczecinie, ale także artykuły innych badaczy posiadających doświadczenie w stosowaniu nowoczesnych narzędzi wspomagających proces badawczy. Proponowany zbiór artykułów ma szansę stać się jedną z pierwszych tego typu publikacji, która zaprezentuje możliwości i sposób wykorzystania różnych programów CAQDAS w badaniach opartych na metodach jakościowych.
    For a long time, a growing interest in tools which could support an analytical process has been noticed among researchers, scientists, as well as practitioners who run a qualitative data collection. However, CAQDAS (computer-assisted qualitative data analysis) gained popularity only in several domestic studies. This is the reason reason why we decided to work within a bigger group of researchers, what resulted in this very volume devoted to the above-mentioned subject. It embraces essays of people who participated in a focus group organized during the 15th Congress of the Polish Sociological Association in Szczecin, as well as articles of other researchers who are experienced in applying modern tools which support research process. This collection of articles may become one of the first such publications which present the possibilities and manners of using various types of CAQDAS programs in research based on qualitative methods.

    Opis:
    Artykuł porusza problematykę zastosowania specjalistycznego oprogramowania wspomagającego analizę danych jakościowych w badaniach opartych na procedurach metodologii teorii ugruntowanej (MTU ). Celem artykułu jest pokazanie, jakie związki istnieją pomiędzy procedurami metodologii teorii ugruntowanej a dwoma popularnymi programami z rodziny CAQDAS: NVivo oraz Atlas.ti. Artykuł ma wskazać, w jaki sposób można wykorzystać funkcje dostępne w obu programach do prowadzenia analizy opartej na MTU. W artykule pokazano zarówno techniczne, jak i aplikacyjne możliwości oprogramowania NVivo i Atlas.ti. Wskazano także na stopień zgodności rozwiązań technicznych stosowanych w obu programach do wymogów metodologii teorii ugruntowanej oraz na pewne ograniczenia i bariery, które napotkać może badacz wykorzystujących dany program komputerowy w badaniach opartych na MTU.
    This article raises a topic of special software applied to support the analysis of qualitative data in research which is based on the procedures of grounded theory methodology (GTM). The purpose of this article is to demonstrate what kind of relations occur between the methodology procedures of grounded theory and two popular programs of CAQDA group: NVivo and Atlas.ti. This article is intended to show in what ways these two programs can be used to provide a GT-based analysis. In the article, there is a demonstration of both technical and applicable possibilities of NVivo and Atlas.ti software. Moreover, this article points out a degree of adequacy of technical solutions applied in both programs in order to meet the requirements of grounded theory methodology, as well as some restrictions and barriers which can be encountered by a researcher who uses a particular computer program in GT-based research.
