    The period attributable to the 90s of the twentieth century in the field of religious architecture, is related to the time of major changes, which have the greatest effect a complete change of political and economic system: the introduction of the Constitution guaranteed the democratic system, freedom of speech, but also the introduction of free market principles, economic restructuring and changes in many areas. Significant changes that have taken place in Poland since 1989, and in particular political and economic transformation of the country, contributed to the acceleration of social and civilization, as well as the inevitable technological progress. These changes, influenced by many factors as the introduction of the new rules with the change of the old legislation: construction, architecture, urban design and planning. The Polish Church regained the property and the freedom in the church building.

Budowle te do dziś pozostają świadectwem rozwoju cywilizacyjnego oraz dążeń środowiska twórczego do zachowania wysokiej jakości warsztatu zawodowego.
    The valuable works of contemporary sacred architecture in Kielce, realized by outstanding Polish artists after 1945, represent original legacy and heritage, in some cases evidence innovative and unique solutions on a global level. Despite the complicated economic conditions, difficult social and political situation of post-war, architecture sacred objects has become an expression of continuing trends of modern and avantgarde exploration of spatial solutions, meeting the needs of society. These buildings today remain the testimony to the development of civilization and the aspirations of the creative environment to maintain the high quality professional skills.

    Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie związków i wpływu miejsc kultu (na przykładzie zespołów sakralnych z obszaru Diecezji Kieleckiej – miasta Kielce) – jako wspólnego dziedzictwa kulturowego, na kształtowanie, integrację, rozwój ogólnodostępnych przestrzeni publicznych w mieście. Miejsca kultu, jako widoczni przez wieki świadkowie historycznych międzyludzkich i terytorialnych wydarzeń, często stają się stymulatorami dla kolejnych procesów zachodzących w tkance miejskiej. Intensywne procesy urbanizacji, następujące na przestrzeni ostatnich kilkudziesięciu lat, wymuszają niezbędne przekształcenia istniejących struktur oraz wiążącej się z tym modernizacji, rewitalizacji. Procesy te nie powinny stanowić zagrożenia dla prawidłowego funkcjonowania miasta, zachowania tożsamości miejsc kultu, otaczającej je struktury oraz walorów przestrzennych i estetycznych. Powinny prowadzić do ochrony historycznych struktur wykształconych w pobliżu “sacrum” i opieki nad tymi obszarami, stanowiącymi cenne dziedzictwo kulturowe. Złożona struktura funkcjonalna przestrzeni miejskich, wykształconych wokół “sacrum” i związana z nimi atrakcyjna domena publiczna, sprzyjają procesom zmian i często stają się katalizatorem rewitalizacji dla sąsiednich obszarów. Wkomponowane formy architektoniczne, jak i czytelność urbanistyczna założeń sakralnych, integrują strukturę przestrzenną miasta. Zapewniają czytelność w scalaniu struktury przestrzeni miejskiej. Sprzyjają tworzeniu się między nimi związków synergii, powstawaniu harmonijnych relacji tkanki miejskiej. Promują nową przestrzeń, będąc znakiem miejsca a nawet miasta. Kreują wizerunek przestrzeni publicznych, stanowiąc atrakcyjne i otwarte dla różnych aktywności struktury funkcjonalne.
    The aim of article is to present linkages and influence of places of worship (for example religious groups from the Diocese of Kielce – Kielce – city) – as a common cultural heritage, on the formation, integration, development of areas of public spaces in the city. Places of worship, as seen through the centuries witnessed the historic inter-territorial and events often become stimulants for subsequent processes taking place in the urban tissue. Intense urbanization processes, following over the last few years, forcing the necessary transformations of existing structures and involving the modernization, revitalization. Processes should not, however, constitute a threat to the proper functioning of the city, preserving the identity of places of worship, surrounding structures and the spatial and aesthetic values. Should not lead to the abandonment of care for the protection of historic structures educated near the „sacrum” and care for these areas, which constitute a valuable cultural heritage. The complex functional structure of urban, educated around the „sacrum” and the associated attractive public domain, assisting the processes of change and can become a catalyst for the revitalization of the neighboring areas. Integrated into architectural forms that urban legibility assumptions sacred integrate spatial structure of the city. They provide clarity in the collapsing structure of urban space. Foster the creation of a synergy between the two compounds, the formation of harmonious relations of urban space. Promote a new space, being a sign of the place and even cities. They create an image of public spaces, acting attractive and open to different activities functional structures.

    After 1945, the situation of the Catholic Church in Poland has undergone radical changes. In years 1945-2000 there was a very dynamic time for systemic economic change in our country, determining the formation of architecture also influencing its aesthetic qualities. This applies especially to religious architecture, whose free development during this period was strongly disturbed. New conditions in which investors had to operate the church - makers after 1945 the construction of temples, significantly influenced the possibility of proper functioning and development of the sacral. This article attempts to analyze the basic mechanisms directly affecting the process of investment-realization and, consequently, the evolution of architectural forms of contemporary churches, performed in the Archdiocese of Cracow in 1945-2000.

    Green architecture and natural and cultural groups are a unique kind of space with various functions – contemporary and cultural (including sacred). Most often they are characterized by high aesthetic and functional advantages. The innovative green architecture combines the technique of building with nature fulfilling excellent recreational, teaching, as well as integration functions for the local communities. As numerous studies show green improves the quality of life, and therefore becoming increasingly important to increase green areas – especially in large cities. Additional areas and green elements carry a positive social aspects, positive impact on the revitalization, improving the quality of life, environmental education and ensure environmental protection. An integral part of contemporary educational issues are also teams of natural and cultural heritage. They are characterized by constant variation. An important historical resource and perform functions of many of today’s tasks (use of attractive surroundings of the temple, the purpose of great human assemblies). That is why the issue of green architecture and nature-culture is an important topic in the teaching process. Specialized and multithreaded issues associated with green architecture and the natural landscape were included in graduation engineering projects (of studies of the first degree). They became the subject of research techniques and scientific visits of students of the University of Technology, Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture in Kielce (Malopolska, Poland).

    In 1945, the time of dynamic political and social and economic changes begins in Poland, determining the creation of architecture, and also influencing its aesthetic qualities. This applies particularly to buildings and compounds of religious architecture – the free development of the latter was significantly hindered during this period. In the post-war period, only very few churches, built from scratch, were constructed within the area of the Archdiocese of Kraków. Until 1970, sacred construction projects, in terms of their architecture, were often expression of local capabilities, power of persuasion and perseverance of the designers and investors. Sometimes such projects stretched over a dozen or more years of complex implementations.
    Po 1945 roku w Polsce następuje czas dynamicznych przemian polityczno-społecznych i gospodarczych determinujących powstawanie architektury, również rzutujących na jej walory estetyczne. Dotyczy to zwłaszcza obiektów i zespołów architektury sakralnej, której swobodny rozwój był w tym okresie mocno utrudniany. W okresie powojennym, na obszarze Archidiecezji Krakowskiej, powstało niewiele wzniesionych od podstaw nowych świątyń. Do 1970 roku realizacje sakralne bywały pod względem architektonicznym wyrazem lokalnych możliwości, siły przebicia projektantów i inwestorów oraz rozciągniętych czasami na kilkanaście lat skomplikowanych inwestycji.

    The phenomenon of transformation in shaping the architecture of churches, observed in Poland after 1970, remains as fascinating as it is unusual. Despite the great crisis in the field of religious architecture, the latter presents a wealth of original and innovative architectural and functional solutions. A radical change in the conditions in which ecclesial investors had to operate when undertaking the construction of temples, coupled with the political, economic and social transformations taking place on a large scale, significantly contributed to the feasibility and functioning of this architecture and the evolution of its forms. Regardless of the solutions applied, it represents a wealth of content, both ideological and material.
    Zjawisko transformacji w sposobie kształtowania architektury świątyń, mające miejsce w naszym kraju po 1970 r. pozostaje fascynujące i niezwykłe. Pomimo wielkiego kryzysu w dziedzinie architektury sakralnej, odznacza się ona bogactwem oryginalnych i nowatorskich rozwiązań architektonicznych i funkcjonalnych. Radykalna zmiana warunków, w jakich przyszło działać inwestorom kościelnym podejmujących budowę świątyń, zachodzące na dużą skalę przemiany polityczno-gospodarczo-społeczne, w znaczącym stopniu wpłynęły na możliwość prawidłowego funkcjonowania tej architektury oraz na ewolucję jej form. Niezależnie od stosowanych rozwiązań, cechuje ją bogactwo treści zarówno ideowych jak i materialnych.
