    Opis:
    Issues concerning access to higher education are seen diefrently in various European education systems. In some of them, the paths leading to the desired college or universi can be wide, in others dicfiult to reach or very bumpy. Learners of schools for adults represent a particular group vulnerable to dicfiulties in accessing higher education. F these learners, the accomplishment of the entrance examination requirements is not alw equally achievable as for youth schools students. iThs paper presents the comparison of various approaches to the issue of access to higher education for adult learners in Europ countries. In particular, it indicates two systems of learners' skills evaluation, similar i of organization but opposite in obtained results. eTh rfist one is Finnish and the second one Polish Matriculation Examination system, regarded as the Entrance Exams to universi level education. Both systems are presented from the perspective of learners of schools adults, mostly young people who have dropeed out of the youth system. eTh analyses take into account secondary data from examination sessions 2015-2018, provided by the Polish Central Examination Board and the Finnish Matriculation Examination Board. eTh main goal of this paper is to indicate the dicfiulties faced by learners of upper secondary schoo for adults, especially in Poland. eTh dicfiulties causing that door to higher education are closed in front of these learners.

    The meaning of responsibility, especially in young adults, plays an important role in contemporary life. It has an impact on the family life, social relations, ways of a work performance and many other aspects. The problem of taking responsibility by present-day people is discussed on different levels and in different areas. The point of view of adult learners of the formal education system still remains overlooked in academic discourse. This article presents adult learners’ understanding of the concept of adulthood and its important component, responsibility. The present study examined opinions of learners attending upper secondary school for adults, using the phenomenography method. In anonymous survey with open-ended questions, 94 voluntary participants (aged 18–63) took part. This qualitative study examined how adult learners begin to recognize the importance of a sense of responsibility for themselves and how it influences their life. The results of the study indicate the traditional understanding of the concept of adulthood by adult learners. Personal development, as a result of a variety of life experiences, makes increase of the importance of responsibility for themselves, their family and surrounding. Though different life difficulties, awkwardness, lack of autonomy, the value of responsibility becomes more significant.

    Edukacja na rzecz zrównoważonego rozwoju stała się w ostatnich latach istotnym elementem dyskursu naukowego. Podejmowane są również liczne próby opracowywania i wdrażania strategii, które przyczynią się do skutecznego propagowania proekologicznych zachowań wśród dzieci, młodzieży i dorosłych. W odniesieniu do dwóch pierwszych grup edukację ekologiczną można włączać do programów realizowanych w ramach edukacji formalnej, dotarcie do trzeciej grupy jest zdecydowanie trudniejsze. Artykuł ma na celu zwrócenie uwagi na możliwość wykorzystania metody dynamiki systemowej (ang. System Dynamics) do badania oraz rozwiązywania problemów związanych z projektowaniem i implementacją działań edukacyjnych na rzecz zrównoważonego rozwoju. Publikacja przybliża koncepcję cieszącą się wciąż niewielkim zainteresowaniem krajowych badaczy. Badania towarzyszą rozpoczynającemu się projektowi, którego celem jest ochrona środowiska poprzez lokalną dekarbonizację energetyczną.
    Education for sustainable development has become an important element of scientific discourse in recent years. Numerous attempts have also been made to develop and implement strategies that will contribute to the effective promotion of pro-ecological behaviour among children, young people and adults. Regarding the first two groups, environmental education can be included in the programmes implemented within formal education, while reaching the third group is more difficult. The article aims to draw attention to the possibility of using the System Dynamics approach to study and solve problems related to the design and implementation of educational activities for sustainable development. The publication introduces the concept which is still of little interest to domestic researchers. The research accompanies an incipient project that aims to protect the environment through local energy decarbonisation.

    The solution of repeating a school grade when learners do not achieve required level of knowledge or skills has as many proponents as opponents. Numerous educational systems support a grade retention as the method of obtaining better learning outcomes. In the same time, others do not allow to repeat a school year and recommend automatic promotion. The growing problem of school failures, among them repeating a school grade or even dropouts, is still present in the academic discourse. This article presents the impact of school failures and its range from the point of view of learners attending Polish secondary school for adults.

    Opis:
    The choice of a specific educational and professional path is a significant decision. In the presented qualitative research, attention was focused on causal attributions and their importance in the process of explaining the decisions made by students of Warsaw general secondary school graduating class. Findings show that: (1) depending on the educational stage, the attribution of choices varies; (2) regarding the earlier educational stage, external attribution is dominant. The knowledge of the specifics of the causal attribution processes in relation to the choice of the educational and occupational path allows of a better understanding and guidance on making these choices.
    Wybór określonej ścieżki edukacyjno-zawodowej jest ważną decyzją. W prezentowanych badaniach jakościowych zwrócono uwagę na atrybucje przyczynowe i ich znaczenie w procesie wyjaśniania decyzji podejmowanych przez uczniów ostatniej klasy warszawskich liceów ogólnokształcących. Wyniki pokazują, że: (1) w zależności od etapu edukacyjnego atrybucja wyborów jest zróżnicowana, (2) w odniesieniu do wcześniejszego etapu edukacyjnego dominuje atrybucja zewnętrzna. Znajomość specyfiki procesów atrybucji przyczynowej w odniesieniu do wyboru ścieżki edukacyjno-zawodowej pozwala lepiej zrozumieć i ukierunkować dokonywanie tych wyborów.

    This article aims to explore the relationship between digital innovations and sustainable development before and during the pandemic, taking into consideration the level of development of countries. The authors employed both qualitative and quantitative methods, including a critical review of the literature and the analysis of a database of 31 European countries, using various indicators such as the global sustainability index, global innovation index, human capital and research, infrastructure, business sophistication, knowledge and technology outputs, country innovation performance, and creative output. The investigated European countries have been categorized into three clusters based on the level of sustainable development, and their characteristics before and during the pandemic have been examined. The study also explored the relationship between global sustainability and digital innovation. The results suggest that global action is needed to address structural factors perpetuating inequality and underdevelopment in less-developed countries. Hence, this research offers insights into the potential of digital innovations in promoting sustainable development during crises. Policymakers, development practitioners, and scholars interested in sustainable development can benefit from this research to design more effective policies and interventions for different country clusters to understand the impact of the pandemic on sustainable development and develop more effective responses.

    The significance of scientific journals in the dissemination and creation of science cannot be overestimated. For over 350 years, journals have been a crucial platform for the prompt publication of research findings and the exchange of scientific ideas among research centres worldwide. Journals serve not only to disseminate scientific achievements but also to provide researchers with the substantive base for new discoveries and achievements. The aim of this article is to examine the present state and future potential of regional social science journals in terms of presenting and disseminating research findings, as well as promoting international collaboration. The objective is to achieve this through a comprehensive analysis of the Journal of Pedagogy, Innovation and New Technologies, which has been a source of daily concerns, problems, and satisfaction for us for almost a decade. The analysis method employed involves examining texts published in IJPINT and the documents available to the editors. The article addresses the following questions: (1) In what circumstances was the journal created and what priorities determined its formula and organizational solutions? (2) What are your publication achievements in terms of quantity and quality? (3) What has hindered and what has supported the work of the journal and the implementation of its mission? The purpose of this position paper is to stimulate further discussion on the condition of social science journals and the type of government support they receive.

    This article aims to explore the extent to which the educational mobile application PULA supports and promotes pro-environmental behaviours, identify the most utilised functionalities by early adopters, and explore the least engaged functionalities. The study employs a quantitative approach based on data collected from the application. The analysis provides a comprehensive understanding of users' experiences and behaviours within the application, contributing valuable insights into its potential to foster pro-environmental attitudes and behaviours. The results suggested that the users, especially women, were generally interested in the learning activities. Pro-environmental transport-related activities were also frequently undertaken by the users. While women tended to split their time into various functionalities of the application, men focused mainly on the transport-related ones. This research contributes to the emerging field of using educational mobile applications for promoting pro-environmental behaviour. The study's focus on early adopters provides unique perspectives on the mechanisms behind behaviour change and offers implications for future interventions. The findings of this study can impact environmental conservation efforts. By encouraging pro-environmental behaviour through an accessible mobile application, a broader audience can be reached and motivated to adopt greener habits. The insights gained from this research can inform the design and development of future applications to foster sustainable practices, benefiting society and contributing to building a more sustainable future.
