- Modern traction drives mostly use asynchronous motors fed from voltage inverter. Very often one carrier of traction vehicle has two independent motors. Most of drives use one inverter feeding one motor and very often this inverters have one DC-link circuit. The main purpose of this article is to show the new koncept that one bigger inverter can be able to feed two asynchronous motors connected in parallel, what can lower the price of inverters up to 30%. However the main problem is the behavior of the motors during dynamic state (for example during passing through the crossroads) when one of two motors is changing its angular velocity because of changing wheel radius (from main part to the wheel flange) what introduces the instability into its electromagnetic state. The natural behavior of motors is to balance their electromagnetic states which leads to the very big current ripples. This article describes mathematical model of group traction drive, test stand to study of dynamic state created at the Technical University of Łodź and results from simulation.
