    Artykuł został poświęcony architekturze czterech uważanych za najstarsze karkonoskich schronisk – Pod Łabskim Szczytem, Strzesze Akademickiej, Samotni oraz Schronisku im. Bronka Czecha. Celem pracy jest ukazanie nieprzemijających walorów ich architektury, dla której inspiracją była rodzima tradycja budowlana. Po 1945 r. wiele sudeckich schronisk przestało istnieć, a te, które przetrwały do dziś, borykają się często z podstawowymi problemami – brakiem koniecznych remontów, właściwej opieki konserwatorskiej czy stosunkowo niedużym ruchem turystycznym. W publikacji zwrócono także uwagę na potrzebę kontynuacji w nowo projektowanych budynkach o funkcji turystycznej rodzimych wątków architektury, w celu przywrócenia przerwanej po 1945 r. ciągłości kulturowej.
    The article is devoted to the architecture of four Giant Mountains shelters, which are considered to be the oldest, i.e., Pod Łabskim Szczytem, Strzecha Akademicka, Samotnia and Bronek Czech’s Shelter. The purpose of the study aims at showing the timeless values of their architecture inspired by native construction tradition. After 1945, many Sudetes shelters ceased to exist and those that have survived to this day often face fundamental problems – lack of necessary renovations, proper conservation care or relatively small tourist traffic. The publication also draws attention to the need to continue native architectural themes in newly designed buildings with a tourist function in order to restore cultural continuity that was interrupted after 1945.

    The new culture of Poland is very much reflected in the design of many of its new buildings that have been completed since the political and economic changes in 1989. The architecture of Poland appears to have lurched from an inappropriate socialist modernism that was so horridly imposed during the communist era to an equally inappropriate post modernist hegemony in the new enterprise culture. In accord with Poland is rejection of the centrally imposed system of building and architecture, and with the greater emphasis on individual initiative in the new culture, it seems a pity that the country should automatically adopt western modes of architectural expression. This paper explores the role critical regionalism could play in the continued development of global-era Polish architecture, and the advancements achieved by those few contemporary Polish architects who have sought to combine modern tastes and techniques with culturally meaningful designs. This paper suggests that with its new found freedom, Poland should be careful that it do not suffer a loss of identity and that in its architecture it should seek a way forward through a Critical Regionalism.

    According to the theory of regionalism, the architecture is to reflect its surroundings with its cultural and natural resources. It manifests itself in the architectural form and details of buildings, but also in the landscape characteristics present in the whole town-planning1. Regional architecture is a collection of natural and cultural elements combined by virtue of their traditional relation which are outstanding in a given area. Generally, this is the result of two powerful forces: nature and culture. Scientific investigations in respect of the regional architecture of The Sudety mountains started in the late 70s. At that time many theses, researches concerning this architecture were created and projects drafted in our department under the supervision of Professor Tadeusz Biesiekierski. All the information was collected and ordered. Not only a catalogue of forms was created but also a practical hand-book on how to built houses in this area was produced mainly for investors and a catalogue of typical houses bearing traditional features. "The Charter of Sudetes" was established which specifies the terms of town planning and modernizing of the already existing buildings. Architects', conservators', historians' of architecture work lead to specification of plans regarding the local area in agreement with "The Charter of Sudetes", namely, maintaining the regional character of the area. Professor Biesiekierski's investigations and work described and explained the architecture of the region, and disputed with the notions of "inherent" and "extraneous" or simply "home" and "alien" notions in architecture. Such division in Lower Silesia, so called Regained Territories, functioned for a long time and hindered the development. How to create new architecture modifying regional tradition? When planning new objects and continuing the features of regional architecture what an architect should have in mind is the perception of the architecture now and in the future. What are the future users' expectations? What features of the traditional architecture he or she wants to be continued and why? To what extent does it influence the project and modification of the traditional models? Does the user expect anything special or additional? In my opinion, this factor may have influence on the direction of development in this region. Needless to say that the economical development in this area also plays an important role in architecture. The researches which have been carried out so far: The Charter of Cracow, The Charter of Sudetes, The Charter of Opole - have had a rather inspiring character. After verifying them, one should come back to this kind of analysis, but in a new, contemporary socio-economical, spatial reality. Learning the opinion of the community of architects, but also investors and users will lead to reflection on: How to create architecture modifying regional tradition? Conclusions will also demonstrate the level the creative interpretation of the regional architecture is on and which direction it is going in. It will also be possible to assess how architects deal with the combination of traditional architecture and new technological or functional solutions, and in consequence how new projects are implemented and if they appropriately function in the surroundings.

    In the era of where universal architectural forms dominate, there is growing demand for architecture, which, in addition to meeting contemporary functional and technological requirements, also show the identity of its region. It is of key importance in shaping the relationship between space and the community. The visible bond between the past and the present creates a continuity of the cultural environment ensuring its further sustainable development. Due to the exceptional landscape of the Kraków-Częstochowa Uplands, the author draws attention to the issue of cultural continuity in this area. On the one hand, it seems necessary to preserve the native spatial forms that are part of the regional landscape. On the other, to develop new forms that fit with the identity of local buildings and constitute a natural and consistent continuation of the changing panorama of the Jurassic countryside.

    The Kraków-Częstochowa Jura is an area with unique natural and landscape values. The richness of locally occurring fauna and flora and the picturesque nature of the Jurassic landscape create favorable conditions for investments that can both use the potential of this ecosystem and serve in its protection. The author presents conceptual designs of two investments related to the tourist and recreational function as well as educational and research function. Despite the difference in uses, each of these objects promotes and protects the natural conditions of the Krakow-Czestochowa Upland.
    Jura Krakowsko-Częstochowska to obszar o wyjątkowych walorach przyrodniczych i krajobrazowych. Bogactwo lokalnej fauny i flory oraz malownicza przyroda jurajskiego krajobrazu tworzą korzystne warunki dla inwestycji, które mogą zarówno wykorzystać potencjał tego ekosystemu, jak i służyć jego ochronie. Autor przedstawia projekty koncepcyjne dwóch inwestycji związanych z funkcją turystyczną i rekreacyjną oraz edukacyjną i badawczą. Mimo różnic w użytkowaniu każdy z tych obiektów sprzyja i chroni warunki naturalne Wyżyny Krakowsko-Częstochowskiej.

    Opis:
    In the paper we have conducted a comparative analysis of contemporary high-rise residential buildings, taking into account the consequences of the clustering of numerous communities in buildings with a vertical functional and spatial structure. The analysis of specific solutions was aimed at the emergence of cultural, social and technological peculiarities in residential high-rise buildings in Europe in the years 2000 - 2022. The accumulated factual material made it possible to identify the distinctive features of high-rise residential buildings and to analyze them in terms of the requirements for vertical habitats, with emphasis placed on the arrangement of common zones. An analysis of the humanization of their residential environment was carried out.
    W pracy przeprowadzono analizę porównawczą współczesnego wysokiego budownictwa mieszkaniowego z uwzględnieniem konsekwencji grupowania licznych społeczności w budynkach o pionowej strukturze funkcjonalno-przestrzennej. Analiza konkretnych rozwiązań miała na celu wyłonienie specyfiki kulturowej, społecznej i technologicznej w mieszkalnych budynków wysokich w Europie w latach 2000 - 2022. Zgromadzony materiał faktograficzny umożliwił wskazanie cech znamiennych mieszkalnych budynków wysokich oraz analizę pod kątem wymogów stawianych habitatom wertykalnym, z naciskiem położonym na aranżacje stref wspólnych. Zgodnie z zaproponowanym podziałem europejskich wysokich budynków mieszkalnych, przeprowadzono analizę humanizacji ich środowiska mieszkaniowego.
