    Opis:
    The aim of the paper was to identify the main factors affecting contemporary relief-forming processes in Greece. The analysis focused on areas with a varied type of relief. These were: high mountains, mountains of intermediate and low relief as well as valley and basin bottoms. The orographic diversity of Greece is the consequence of internal processes associated with the Alpine orogenesis and the neotectonic rejuvenation of relief. Lithology is considered to be of much lesser importance as its impact was mainly local. Contemporary morphogenetic processes in Greece are also conditioned by morphometric and lithological factors. In addition to that, many centuries of anthropopressure significantly affect the shaping of relief in this area. Locally, it is more significant than climatic influence.

    Opis:
    On the basis of daily measurements of the temperature and humidity, the state of the sky and the wind speed taken at noon (12.00 UTC) at the Lipnik meteorological station situated in the vicinity of lake Miedwie, the indexes of the sensible temperature (STI) and the weather evaluation (WEI tot) were calculated. In the region of the lake the following heat sensations occur most frequently: “chilly” and “warm” and then “hot” and “comfortably”. Favourable weather conditions for tourism and recreation are in April, May, June and in September, whereas moderate weather conditions are mainly in July and August, i.e. the time of the major number of hot days.

    W pracy porównano potrzeby nawadniania szkółek leśnych na glebie piaszczystej w latach 2000–2009 w rejonie Bydgoszczy, Chojnic i Torunia. Stwierdzono, że zużycie wody z warstwy gleby o kontrolowanym uwilgotnieniu było w okresie wegetacji (IV–IX) najwyższe w okolicy Torunia (524 mm), niższe w okolicy Bydgoszczy (504 mm), a najniższe w rejonie Chojnic (498 mm). Najwyższe miesięczne zużycie wody na transpirację roślin i parowanie terenowe stwierdzono w lipcu. Wskaźnik ten był najwyższy w Toruniu (126 mm), niższy w Bydgoszczy (121 mm), a najniższy w Chojnicach (116 mm). Sezonowe potrzeby nawadniania szkółki były najniższe w rejonie Chojnic (116 mm), wyższe w rejonie Torunia (170 mm), a najwyższe – w rejonie Bydgoszczy (183 mm). Największe miesięczne potrzeby nawadniania, średnio w badanym dziesięcioleciu, wystąpiły w czerwcu, a najmniejsze we wrześniu. Wykazywały one jednak bardzo dużą zmienność w konkretnych latach. Zakładając równomierny rozkład czasowy opadów w danym miesiącu, potrzeby nawadniania nie wystąpiłyby w 18 miesiącach (na 60 rozpatrywanych) – w rejonie Chojnic oraz – odpowiednio – w 13 miesiącach w rejonie Bydgoszczy i 10 miesiącach w rejonie Torunia.
    Irrigation requirements of forest nurseries localized on a sandy soil in the years 2000–2009 in vicinities of Bydgoszcz, Chojnice and Toruń, are compared in the paper. It was found that the water use of the soil layer with controlled moisture calculated for the whole vegetation period (April–September) was the highest in the vicinity of Toruń (524 mm), the lower – in the vicinity of Bydgoszcz (504 mm), and the lowest – in the vicinity of Chojnice (498 mm). The highest monthly water use for evapotranspiration was found in July. This index was the highest for Toruń (126 mm), the lower – for Bydgoszcz (121 mm), and the lowest for Chojnice (116 mm). Seasonal irrigation needs of a forest nursery was the lowest in vicinity of Chojnice (116 mm), the higher in the vicinity of Toruń (170 mm), and the highest in the vicinity of Bydgoszcz (183 mm). The highest monthly irrigation needs – on average for ten years studied – were occurred in June and the lowest – in September. But, these needs were characterized by the very big variability in particular years. In case of uniform rainfall distribution in a particular month, no needs of irrigation would be occurred in investigated ten–year period during 18 months (from among 60 taken into consideration) in the vicinity of Chojnice, as well as during 13 and 10 months in vicinities of Bydgoszcz and Toruń, respectively.

    Puszcza Zielonka Forest is located in the central part of the Warta river basin, in the middle of Wielkopolska region on a plateau covered by deep morain or zander sand and gravel (over 90%). Fresh habitats dominate (95%) and the groundwater level depth is below the range of tree roots reach over ca. 80% of the area. The paper discuses variability of precipitation and temperature in Puszcza Zielonka for the period 1848−2008 with the assessment of water availability for forest environment.

    The aim of the research was to determine the impact of climatic conditions on the tree−ring width of Swedish whitebeam Sorbus intermedia (Ehrh.) Pers. growing in the urban conditions in Szczecin (NW Poland). The samples were taken from 26 trees growing along Rodziewiczówny, Ejsmonda and Santocka streets (left bank of the Odra river). On the basis of the tree−ring width measurements and cross−dating, two local chronologies (JS1 – Rodziewiczówny and Ejsmonda streets, and JS2 – Santocka street) were developed. Later on we indexed them (double detrending, least squares method and spline function) and subjected to the analysis of correlation and response functions. Growth−climate dependencies in both Swedish whitebeam communities are different. For the JS1 chronology the highest value of the multiple regression coefficient was obtained for air temperature, while for JS2 chronology for insolation and precipitation. For both sequences dependency on climate is similar in August and December of the previous year of vegetation and in January, February, April, June and July of the current year. The observed differences are the result of the impact of various factors related to human activity: traffic volume, soil pollution (mainly heavy metals and salt), damage to roots, trunks and crowns.

    Opis:
    The purpose of the report is to determine trends in thermal and pluvial conditions in the high mountain part of the Tatras. The study makes use of the data from the weather stations on Kasprowy Wierch Mt. from the years 1951-2006, and mainly from 1966-2006. Various thermal and pluvial characteristics were considered. The increase of the rate of upward trend of temperature in the Tatras at the end of the 20th century and at the beginning of the 21st century, as well as the change of the seasonal distribution of the warming in comparison with the preceding long-term periods, have been documented. Certain symptoms of increase of the thermal and pluvial continentality have also been observed. The contemporary air temperature increase in the high mountain part of the Tatras is not followed by significant changes of the precipitation amount and nature.

    Badania wykonano w celu oceny kierunku, zakresu i stopnia istotności zmian wskaźników charakteryzujących termiczne okresy rolnicze w rejonie Bydgoszczy. W badaniach wykorzystano wyniki pomiarów temperatury powietrza, prowadzonych w sposób standardowy, w Stacji Badawczej Wydziału Rolnictwa i Biotechnologii UTP Bydgoszcz w Mochełku, położonej około 20 km od Bydgoszczy. Badaniami objęto 30-letni okres normalny 1981-2010. Uwzględniono następujące termiczne okresy rolnicze: gospodarczy, wegetacyjny, aktywnego wzrostu roślin, dojrzewania oraz zimowego spoczynku roślin. W wyniku przeprowadzonych badań nie stwierdzono istotnych trendów zmian wszystkich 15 badanych wskaźników charakteryzujących termiczne okresy rolnicze rejonu Bydgoszczy wraz z upływem lat od 1981 do 2010 roku. W niektórych przypadkach (5 na analizowanych 15) stwierdzono natomiast poszerzenie ich zmienności czasowej w latach 1996-2010, w stosunku do poprzedniego okresu 15-letniego 1981-1995, które ewentualnie można traktować, jako symptom obserwowanych zmian klimatycznych. Średnie wieloletnie w okresie 1981-2010 wartości badanych wskaźników termicznych okresów rolniczych są zgodne z normatywnymi dla rejonu Bydgoszczy, podawanymi w publikacjach charakteryzujących klimat i agroklimat Polski, co świadczy o reprezentatywności punktu pomiarowego w Mochełku. Badania potwierdziły bardzo dużą niestabilność czasową termicznych okresów rolniczych w rejonie Bydgoszczy, charakterystyczną dla umiarkowanego i przejściowego klimatu Polski.
    The research was performed to assess the direction, scope and significance of changes of thermal indices in agricultural seasons in the region of Bydgoszcz. Measurements of air temperature were carried out in a standard way, at the’ Mochełek’ Research Centre of the Faculty of Agriculture and Biotechnology UTP Bydgoszcz, located about 20 km from Bydgoszcz. The study included the normal period of years 1981-2010. The following agricultural seasons were taken into consideration: farming, growing, intensive plant growth, plant maturity and plant dormancy. The results of the research showed no significant trends among all 15 indicators characterizing the thermal agricultural seasons in the vicinity of Bydgoszcz over the years 1981- 2010. In some cases (5 of the 15) was confirmed a broadening of their temporal variability in the years 1996-2010, compared to the previous 15-year period 1981-1995. This may possibly be regarded as a symptom of the observed climate change. Long-term average values of the thermal indices in agricultural seasons examined during the period 1981-2010 were consistent with normative values for the region of Bydgoszcz quoted in publications, which characterize the Polish climate and agroclimate. It confirms the representativeness of the measurement point in Mochełek. The research confirmed a very high temporal instability of the thermal agricultural seasons in the region of Bydgoszcz which is characteristic for the moderate and transitory climate in Poland.
