Opis:
The positivity and stability of a class of time-varying continuous-time linear systems and electrical circuits are addressed. Sufficient conditions for the positivity and asymptotic stability of the system are established. It is shown that there exists a large class of positive and asymptotically stable electrical circuits with time-varying parameters. Examples of positive electrical circuits are presented.

The positivity and stability of a class of time-varying continuous-time linear systems and electrical circuits are addressed. Sufficient conditions for the positivity and asymptotic stability of the system are established. It is shown that there exists a large class of positive and asymptotically stable electrical circuits with time-varying parameters. The Lyapunov method is extended to positive nonlinear systems. Examples of positive electrical circuits are presented.

Opis:
The conditions for positivity and stability of a class of fractional nonlinear continuous-time systems are established. It is assumed that the nonlinear vector function is continuous, satisfies the Lipschitz condition and the linear part is described by a Metzler matrix. The stability conditions are established by the use of an extension of the Lyapunov method to fractional positive nonlinear systems.

Opis:
The asymptotic stability of the convex linear combination of continuous-time and discretetime linear systems is considered. Using the Gershgorin theorem it is shown that the convex linear combination of the linear asymptotically stable continuous-time and discretetime linear systems is also asymptotically stable. It is shown that the above thesis is also valid (even simpler) for positive linear systems.

It is shown that the convex linear combination of the Hurwitz polynomials of positive linear systems is also the Hurwitz polynomial. The Kharitonov theorem is extended to the positive interval linear systems. It is also shown that the interval positive linear system described by state equation x ̇ = Ax, A ϵ ℜn×n, A1 ≥ A ≤ A2 is asymptotically stable if and only if the matrices Ak = 1, 2 are Hurwitz Metzler matrices.

Opis:
The stability of fractional standard and positive continuous-time linear systems with state matrices in integer and rational powers is addressed. It is shown that the fractional systems are asymptotically stable if and only if the eigenvalues of the state matrices satisfy some conditions imposed on the phases of the eigenvalues. The fractional standard systems are unstable if the state matrices have at least one positive eigenvalue.

Opis:
The stability of positive linear continuous-time and discrete-time systems is analyzed by the use of the decomposition of the state matrices into symmetrical and antisymmetrical parts. It is shown that: 1) The state Metzler matrix of positive continuous-time linear system is Hurwitz if and only if its symmetrical part is Hurwitz; 2) The state matrix of positive linear discrete-time system is Schur if and only if its symmetrical part is Hurwitz. These results are extended to inverse matrices of the state matrices of the positive linear systems.
