Family has always created an indispensable environment for a man to fulfill his needs and for his development. Family makes our lives meaningful, helps to put plans into practice and to assign goals. The need for belonging to a family constitutes a value dear to all communities. In the literature of the subject there exists a general division into functional and non-functional families. One of the factors determining a family's capability is violence. It influences the quality of the offspring upbringing, family relationships and bonds. In its air social competence of parents declines and their attitude to family-related responsibilities deteriorates. The issue of domestic violence is tackles by specialists of the area of law, psychology, sociology, pedagogy and medicine, who are studying sources and methods of fighting with this phenomenon. Its social damage is so devastating that its unambiguous definition is almost impossible. In the face of a serious threat generated by domestic violence in recent years, there have been held campaigns, workshops, local and nationwide conferences to promote assistance to violence-stricken victims. Preventive schemes have also been developed to restrain violence in schools and local community. Violence affected individuals can seek help in centers founded especially for this purpose and maintained by local councils (MOPS) or county councils (PCPR), as well as non-government organizations and associations. A comprehensive support for families suffering from domestic violence is provided by Emergency Intervention Centers and Specialist Centers of Support for Victims of domestic Violence. In the region of Lower Silesia there exist two institutions of such a character, one inWroclaw and the other one in Walbrzych. Their activity involves therapeutic tasks, aid and provision for victims of domestic violence.

Without prejudice to numerous institutions organized in the best possible way, nothing affect interpersonal relations as much as individual, empathic and intimate contact with other human being does. The greatest help in case of any challenge is the support of another person followed by an institution. The similar thesis was put forward but A. Zurek who claimed that people comprise the most important link in the process or rehabilitation, both those who provide care and those who receive it. When people face the fact of disability so called first circle of support seems to play a major role in dealing with the experience. Its purpose is to provide specific type of support aimed at creating measures to overcome negative consequences of the disability. Social support includes care, trust, respect (emotional support), expressing acceptance, encouragement and understanding. The purpose of this article is to show the importance of human assistance as a crucial component of social and proffessional rehabilitation of people with disabilities.

The article discusses institutions providing support and aid to people with disabilities and their families. The theoretical determinants of the aid process were discussed in the context of the possible forecasting of strategies for these interactions within the functioning of public, non-governmental and private institutions (without budgetary subsidies). The important area highlighted in the paper was not only disability and the family’s needs but also the nature of a possible support which should depend on a forecast of actions resulting out of the nature and grade of person’s disability. In turn, the scope of proposed solutions should comprise of a package of offers dependent on the grade and nature of person’s disability and should lead to their life and economic independence. However, this requires a tripartite social dialogue, good will, and understanding of each person requiring a long-term support and aid. This article ends with a short conclusion highlighting the need for immediate actions for starting a social dialogue in order to establish a tri-sectoral aid, and within its scope, a reasonable forecast of the needs of the child with disabilities.

Family foster care is a form of temporary care for children who, for various reasons, cannot grow up in a biological family. Foster families have a variety of tasks to fulfill, resulting not only from the current custody of the child, but also from the need for extensive compensation for the general developmental deficiencies of the child placed in it. The purpose of the article is to present the possibilities and forms of support directed to children residing in foster families who have experienced various difficult situations and crisis events in their biological families, as well as general assistance that can be obtained by foster families in which difficult crisis situations arise concerning daily functioning.

The family coaching is becoming part of a system of supporting functioning of the family system, as well as supporting the potential lying in the family. In it an attention is being returned for seeking the balance between the working life and family, as well as to the soil of satisfaction and the better quality of the marital and family life. To the need of such action also a sociology shows families, is describing the public practice of being together as reality of the relation and the practical counselling. She is analysing multilateral and dynamic processes dokonujęce oneself in families using different theories and methods, remembering that the family has double character: both as social institutions and as the individually created life form. In the family counselling also issues of the partnership and processes which are taking place are included in families associated with such experience as: the selection of an occupation, or migrations.
Coaching rodzinny wpisuje się w system wsparcia funkcjonowania systemu rodzinnego, a także wsparcia potencjału tkwiącego w rodzinie. Zwraca się w nim uwagę na poszukiwanie równowagi między życiem zawodowym i rodzinnym, a także na rolę satysfakcji i dobrej jakości życia małżeńskiego i rodzinnego. Na potrzebę takich działań wskazuje także socjologia rodziny, przedstawia praktykę społeczną bycia razem jako rzeczywistość relacji i praktyczne poradnictwo. Analizuje ona wielostronne i dynamiczne procesy dokonujęce się w rodzinach wykorzystując różne teorie i metody, pamiętając, że rodzina ma podwójny charakter: zarówno jako instytucja społeczna i jako indywidualnie kreowana forma życia. W poradnictwie rodzinnym uwzględnia się także kwestie partnerstwa i procesy, które dokonują się w rodzinach związane z takimi doświadczeniami jak: wybór zawodu, czy migracje.

In our times by design a subsidiarity to which many fields of study are appealing, is fundamentals of the social order especially from the field of the social science and legal. This notion was settled not only in the context of pedagogy, but also the social policy adjusting tasks and functioning of the system of the welfare. Exactly a subsidiarity understood as the prevention is nature of the contemporary welfare, and in the time withdrawal of situations justifying using from the welfare, supporting persons and families in efforts aiming at satisfying the essential needs and enables them to live in conditions suiting the human dignity. Therefore the kind, the form and the size of benefits should be suitable for the difficult situation of the practical person or the family which is justify-ing providing assistance.

Celem artykułu jest analiza funkcjonowania rodzin wspierających. Pełnią one istotną rolę w procesie wsparcia rodziny naturalnej przeżywającej trudności w sprawowaniu opieki nad dziećmi oraz ich wychowaniu. W pracy z rodziną realizują zadania z zakresu opieki i wychowania dzieci, prowadzenia gospodarstwa domowego, kształtowania i pełnienia ról społecznych. Rodziny wspierające powoływane są oraz funkcjonują z ramienia gminy w oparciu o Ustawę z dnia 9 czerwca 2011 r. o wspieraniu rodziny i systemie pieczy zastępczej. W artykule zawarte zostały aspekty prawne oraz dane liczbowe dotyczące działania rodzin wspierających. Aspekt prawny przedstawia zasady funkcjonowania, schemat rekrutacji z uwzględnieniem szeregu wymogów oraz zakres zadań realizowanych przez rodziny wspierające. Dane statystyczne prezentują analizę tendencji zmian w obszarze liczby funkcjonujących rodzin, czasu przebywania dzieci pod opieką rodzin wspierających i liczby rodzin objętych wsparciem. Rodziny wspierające stanowią coraz szerszy krąg jako forma wsparcia rodziny naturalnej przeżywającej trudności opiekuńcze i wychowawcze. Osoby, obejmując rodzinę wsparciem, wstępują w rolę autorytetu postępowania dla rodziców i wzorca „pozytywnego dorosłego” dla dzieci. Rodzina wspierająca jest wzorem rodzicielstwa, autorytetem pełnienia ról społecznych, przewodnikiem dokonywanej zmiany i nauczycielem życia codziennego rodziny. Poprzez realizację powierzonych zadań wynikających z ustawy oraz zawartej umowy z wójtem czuwa nad całościowym rozwojem rodziny jako systemu oraz indywidualnych jej członków.
The aim of the article is to analyse the functioning of supporting families. They play an important role in the process of supporting the natural family experiencing difficulties in caring for and bringing up children. In their work with the family, they carry out tasks related to the care and education of children, running a household, shaping and fulfilling social roles. Supporting families are appointed and function on behalf of the commune pursuant to the Act of 9 June 2011 on supporting the family and the foster care system. The article presents legal aspects and figures on the performance of supporting families. The legal aspect includes the performance rules, the recruitment scheme, taking into account a number of requirements and the scope of tasks performed by supporting families. The statistical data presents an analysis of the trends of changes regarding the number of functioning families, the time spent by children in the care of supporting families and the number of supported families. Supporting families become each time more popular form of support for a natural family experiencing caring and upbringing difficulties. By embracing a family with support, members of the supporting family play the role of the authority of behaviour for parents and the role of a “positive adult” model for children. The supporting family is a model of parenting, an authority in fulfilling social roles, a guide for the change made and a teacher of everyday family life. By implementing the entrusted tasks resulting from the Act and the contract concluded with the head of the commune, the supporting family supervises the overall development of the family as a system and its individual members.

Nowadays, the subject of a family is often mentioned and researched. It’s needs, transformations, crisis, roles and functioning are widely discussed. It is indeed a very complex issue. The article present the theoretical background and mention diverse sources concerning issues such as: single families, preschool environment, child development, single parenting – definitionsand models, pre-school environment, child development, challenges and support for a child from single parent family in a kindergarten. The great role of teacher-educator and other specialists, but also working with institutions in the process of supporting the family. In the text the organization of comprehensive assistance for the child was also highlighted. In conclusion, the author referred to the results of her mini-resources and pointed to the need to support the child in the area of emotional and social functioning, which in case of children from single parent family is particularly vulnerable and shaky.

Niezależnie od kontekstu kulturowego, historycznego i społeczno-ekonomicznego rodzina jest nadal podstawowym elementem społecznej struktury, a pełnione przez nią funkcje są nie do zastąpienia. Bodźcem rozwoju asystentury rodziny jest konieczność reagowania na problemy społeczne, idea realizowania faktycznej pomocy rodzinie w kryzysie, zwłaszcza dzieciom, chęć prowadzenia formy aktywizującej rodzinę, w celu doprowadzenia do jej usamodzielnienia. Asystowanie rodzinie stało się współcześnie rozwiązaniem strukturalno – organizacyjnym, realizowanym w perspektywie tzw. pracy na zasobach. Pomocne asystentowi w pracy z rodziną, z wieloma problemami, może być rozumienie zjawiska wyuczonej bezradności u klienta, a także dopracowanie się etyki niezależnej. Niestandardowość zadań asystenta rodziny wymaga ciągłego doskonalenia się i poszukiwania nowych rozwiązań z uwzględnieniem możliwości klienta i własnych.
Regardless of cultural, historical and socioeconomic contexts, the family is still the basic constituent of social culture and the functions it performs are still indispensible. The incentive for developing family’s assistantship stems from the necessity to react to social problems – the idea of providing support to the family facing a crisis, especially to the children, as well as the willingness to implement the forms that would mobilize the family to become autonomous. Contemporarily, assisting a family has become a structural-organizational solution, which is carried out in terms of the so-called ”resource-based job”. What appears helpful for assistants when working with family on many problems, may be the very understanding of the phenomenon of the client’s learned helplessness and also their construction of independent ethics. Non-standard nature of family assistants’ tasks needs continual development as well as looking for new solutions, while bearing in mind both the client’s and their own possibilities.

Rodziny wychowujące dzieci z niepełnosprawnościami napotykają wiele codziennych problemów. Są akceptowane przez społeczeństwo, a niekiedy są odrzucane lub traktowane obojętnie. W prezentowanych badaniach starano się rozpoznać, jak rodziny wychowujące dzieci z różnymi niepełnosprawnościami radzą sobie w codziennym życiu i jak postrzegają swoje problemy, oraz jak traktowane są ich dzieci przez innych ludzi. Wyniki badań wskazują, że poza wsparciem psychicznym i emocjonalnym dla badanych rodzin ważne jest wsparcie materialne, utrzymanie rodziny przy dodatkowych kosztach związanych z rehabilitacją, specjalistyczną opieką medyczną, zakupem lekarstw i odpowiedniego sprzętu medycznego utrudnia bowiem ich codzienną egzystencję.
Families raising children with disabilities face many everyday problems. They are or accepted, or sometimes rejected by the society or the society is indifferent to them. The presented research attempts to identify how families raising children with various disabilities cope in everyday life and how they perceive their problems and how their children are treated by other people. Research results indicate that apart from psychological and emotional support for the surveyed families, material support is important because maintaining the family at additional costs related to rehabilitation, specialist medical care, buying medicines and appropriate medical equipment hinders their daily existence.

Centra Pomocy Rodzinie to sieć składająca się z wielu organizacji państwowych, samorządowych oraz pozarządowych, których celem jest zwiększenie dostępu do usług wczesnej interwencji w zakresie pomocy rodzinie, poprzez kierowanie rodzin zgodnie z ich potrzebami do właściwych świadczeniodawców. Pierwsze centra powstały w 2011 r. w ramach procesu planowania usług na rzecz dzieci. Są innowacyjną odpowiedzią na strategiczną próbę zapewniania lepszej koordynacji świadczeń dla zagrożonych rodzin oraz zredukowania zbędnego duplikowania świadczeń w Irlandii Północnej. Są to „wirtualne” organizacje, polegające bardziej na łączeniu ze sobą istniejących usług niż na tworzeniu nowych. Ten model jest wdrażany w całej Irlandii Północnej.
Family Support ‘Hubs’ are multi-agency networks of statutory, voluntary and community organisations that aim to improve access to early intervention Family Support services by matching the needs of referred families to service providers. Hubs were initiated in 2011 within the framework of the Children’s Services Planning process. They are an innovative response to Northern Ireland’s strategic intent of ensuring better coordination of services to vulnerable families and less wasteful duplication of service provision. They are ‘virtual’ organisations, concerned with linking together existing services rather than creating new services. The model is being adopted across Northern Ireland.

This article is a description of the current situation of the family from a Christian perspective and is divided into three chapters according to the method of the catholic social teaching: see judge, act. In the first part, a analysis of reality is presented, that is a sociological view of the situation of the family in the European countries. The outline of the situation of the family is shown in three dimensions (socio-cultural, political and economic). The second part briefly treats the Catholic teaching on the family, especially their social significance according to John Paul II.. The third part formulates practical conclusions to the question of what we can and should do to promote the family. It is the aim of Christian social ethics – as an instrument of evangelization - to draw adequate conclusions resulting in effective actions of Christians. It is about building bridges between theology and the challenges of the present. Without a doubt, the family is not just a relic of the past, as it was provocatively formulated in the title, but it is, and will continue to be, the foundation of the future.

W ramach badań empirycznych starano się uzyskać odpowiedzi na pytania dotyczące współpracy asystenta rodziny z rodzinami wspieranymi, jak również z przedstawicielami instytucji pomocowych: policjantami, koordynatorami rodzinnej pieczy zastępczej, przedstawicielami edukacji i sądownictwa oraz pracownikami socjalnymi. Badano, jak kształtują się wzajemne relacje między grupami społecznymi i jaką pozycję społeczno-zawodową zajmują asystenci rodziny oraz jak oni sami wypowiadają się o swojej pracy. Badania empiryczne przeprowadzono w paradygmacie metodologii jakościowej, na terenie województwa opolskiego. Uczestnikami badań było 111 respondentów. Posłużono się techniką wywiadu pogłębionego, na podstawie trzech odrębnych kwestionariuszy wywiadu, po jednym dla asystentów rodziny, przedstawicieli służb pomocowych oraz rodzin wspieranych. Zebrany materiał empiryczny poddano analizie treści i wyodrębniono liczne wnioski.
This article is about the profession of the family assistant and complexity of their work environment. In the framework of the empirical research attempts were made to answer questions regarding cooperation of family assistants with the supported families and with the employees of aid institutions, such as police officers, coordinators of family foster care, educational and judiciary professionals and social workers. They also sought to identify and depict the mutual relationships among the social groups, to define the socio-occupational position of family assistants and how they perceive their work. The empirical research carried out within the qualitative methodological framework in the Province of Opole. The research sample included 111 respondents. The applied technique was the in-dept interview, relying on three different interview questionnaires, one per each group: family assistants, assistance services, and supported families. The collected empirical material was subjected to content analysis and numerous conclusions were drawn.

Our society is aging and the attitudes of children toward caring for their elderly parents are becoming an increasingly frequent cause of family conflicts, especially between siblings. Potential family conflicts, increasingly often concern decisions on the type, extent, and time of caring for aging parents. Sharing responsibilities and organizing care for the parents is a cause of growing tension inside families. Problems include the lack of clarity about the division of duties related to helping with general household chores (cleaning, preparing meals, shopping) between siblings or duties related to personal and generalcare (feeding, bathing, administering medications, making medical appointments, and recreation). The main research problem in this article is to define the caring function of the family and family relations in the context of caring for parents with the use of mediation. The research method used in the text was content analysis. Mediation is an increasingly popular procedure implemented to restorenormal relations between conflicting parties, including family members. Apart from conciliation, arbitration, and negotiations, it is the most dynamically developing method of dispute resolution and an alternative to the existing procedures offered by the justice system. Family mediation can help families in making many difficult decisions. The advantages of this procedure result both from the fact that it offers a holistic approach to very complex problems that require an effective resolution, as well as from the involvement of a neutral third party facilitating and organizing the process of communication between family members.
Ze względu na fakt, iż jesteśmy społeczeństwem starzejącym się, postawy i relacje dzieci względem opieki nad starzejącymi się rodzicami stają się coraz częstszą przyczyną konfliktów rodzinnych, zwłaszcza między rodzeństwem. Potencjalnym źródłem konfliktów rodzinnych coraz częściej jest ustalenie formy, zakresu i czasu opieki nad starzejącymi się rodzicami, zwłaszcza pomiędzy rodzeństwem. Podział obowiązków i organizacja opieki nad rodzicami niejednokrotnie powoduje wzrost napięcia w rodzinach. Problemem staje się niejasny podział obowiązków rodzeństwa względem pomocy w pracach domowych o charakterze ogólnym (sprzątanie, przygotowywanie posiłków, zakupy) czy tych o charakterze opiekuńczo-pielęgnacyjnym (karmienie, kąpiel, podawanie leków, wizyty lekarskie, rekreacja). Wielokrotnie stosowanym rozwiązaniem przywracającym poprawnośćrelacji pomiędzy stronami konfliktu, również w przypadku środowiska rodzinnego, jest postępowanie mediacyjne, które obok koncyliacji, arbitrażu i negocjacji stanowi najprężniej rozwijającą się metodę wygaszania konfliktów oraz alternatywę dla dotychczasowego działania systemu sprawiedliwości. Mediacje rodzinne mogą pomóc w podjęciu wielu trudnych decyzji rodzinnych. Ich zalety wynikają zarówno z możliwości holistycznego podejścia do bardzo złożonych problemów, które trzeba rozwiązaćkompleksowo, jak i obecności neutralnej trzeciej strony, facylitującej i porządkującej proces komunikacji pomiędzy członkami rodziny.
