This is the article about political issues in education. The aim of the text is to present the relations between politics and education. I try to find answer to question: what is the essence of politics of education? I claim that education is inherently political. Every dimension and form of educational practice are politically contested spaces. I try to show that politics in education is a very important part of democracy in education. Democracy is impossible without politics and politics is impossible without democracy. So, I focus on describing possible political areas in education. The paper presents results of these relations. I also try to convince the reader that it is possible (it is necessary) to create important, interesting thinking about education from political point of view.

Development of cinema opened up new prospects for the education process. The film has enabled a new way of presentation of various issues to students, supplementing traditional forms of information transmission. It should be noted, however, that the number of film productions have a purely entertaining asset, free of educational value. Consequently, the use of multimedia in education is sometimes seen as a manifestation of confusion between education and entertainment. The result of this process is the so-called edutainment. It is interesting, therefore, to present the possibilities of use the film in the process of building young people identity and value system. The paper presents Polish initiatives of the film education and their role in creating contemporary educational environment.

The article presents the results of the research showing Polish teachers’ knowledge and experiences concerning organising outdoor education of children. The research searched for answers to the following questions: How do teachers define outdoor education? Where do they derive knowledge about it from? Do they take into account spaces and places other than the school building in the education process? What methods and forms of work with a child do they prefer? What factors facilitate and which make it difficult for them to practise outdoor education? The relationship between the selected aspects of outdoor education practised by teachers and the location of the school (city and village) was also examined. The research used the diagnostic survey method and the questionnaire technique. A proprietary questionnaire for elementary education teachers was developed. 276 respondents, in response to the questions, revealed their knowledge, their own views, and described their own activities related to the practice of outdoor education. Empirical data have shown that in Polish schools, outdoor education is practised extremely rarely, and its frequency is mainly related to the location of the facility. Incidentally conducted, it is characterised by a predominantly didaskalocentric attitude. Respondents indicate that only occasional education outside the school building results mainly from the lack of acceptance of this type of classes by the headmaster of schools and parents, and also from deficit of teachers’ competence in this area. The undertaken studies are important due to their unique nature in Poland. Moreover, they show directions of changes desired in teacher education curricula and the process of shaping parents’ awareness.

So when decade of UN education for sustainable development is completing, our country and, above all, the scientific elite, critically need to start reforming the education and research sector to sustainable development, using as one of the options – a system of postgraduate education as part of lifelong learning.

Vocational education was one of the most important stages of the educational system in those days, as it is today. In the interwar period vocational education took on a special significance, because with its help efforts were made to pursue specific educational goals aimed at shaping the attitudes that were then in force, defined as civic and patriotic. The analysis presented below shows the educational goals in reference to youth schools (Cracow vocational schools) focused mainly on youth organisations. Among the most important are Polish scouts. A wide organisational movement was developed alongside it, focusing on military and defense issues, touring, tourism, and sport and recreation. The organisational activities carried out within them were aimed at building strictly defined patterns of citizenship and patriotism among the local youth, which could help in defending their own homeland.

Compliance with the rules of political correctness in schools located in culturally diverse environments is not only political but also methodical challenge. One form of this task is called safe spaces, which are territorial borderlands in the reality of schools which apply the principles of dialogue on the basis of political correctness. Due to the different understanding of political correctness and the possibility of lobbying by representatives of minorities on the organizers of safe space, we have to deal with the abuse of their status. As a result, the ideas of political correctness and the establishment of intercultural communication are often questioned, challenged or it has been give them a meaning far from the original. Elaboration of the concept of inclusive education demands the continu ation of the research in order to clarify its effectiveness under various conditions and with different contingent. The research objective was to compare the effect of segregative and integrative physical education classes (PE) upon physical development indicators in the apparently healthy middle secondary school age students and the students with minor health problems. Two separate groups of schoolchildren (N=1417, aged 10 -15) underwent a medical examination. One group of students attended segregative phys ical education classes, for the other group physical education classes were conducted integratively according to the students’ health status. The ratio of the total number of physical development significant growth rates in the sets of segregative and int egrative mode of PE classes indicates a slightly higher efficiency of integrated PE classes as compared to segregative ones, which was confirmed statistically.

This article aims to show how a school’s educational potential has an effect on the formation of students who will be able to function well in the different areas of a knowledge-based society and maintain good relationships with other people. To this end, this article demonstrates how a school that uses its human and organizational capital should provide students with educational experiences that will prepare them for the most urgent challenges of adult life in a knowledge-based society. This article concludes by showing how teaching religion can benefit education and discussing how schools can utilize their spiritual potential.
Podstawowym celem artykułu jest ukazanie, w jaki sposób potencjał wychowawczy szkoły może wpłynąć na ukształtowanie ucznia, który będzie się sprawnie poruszał w przestrzeniach społeczeństwa opartego na wiedzy, zachowując poprawne relacje z innymi ludźmi. Podjęta będzie próba wskazania, jak szkoła wykorzystując swój kapitał ludzki oraz organizacyjny powinna uczynić edukacyjne doświadczenia uczniów koherentnymi z najpilniejszymi wyzwaniami dorosłego życia w społeczeństwie opartym na wiedzy. Artykuł zakończą wskazania, jak dziełu wychowania może przysłużyć się nauczanie religii. Postulaty końcowe będą dotyczyć wykorzystania potencjału duchowego w edukacji szkolnej.

Contemporary psychology ascribes a very important role to both upbringing and teaching-learning processes in psychical development. It is indicated that a child’s personality is being shaped as a result of this influence. The most intensive development obviously concerns the youngest children because both psyche and organism of the child are distinguished by large plasticity in the period of early childhood. The elementary regulating mechanisms based on impulses and emotions dependent on functions of the subcortical centres are shaped in this period. The small child’s behaviour is still little organized, changeable and impulsive. The child is mainly guided by emotions. Children acquire their basic orientation to the world in the first school years, at the level of primary teaching, and first of all, in their closest environment. They gain knowledge about reality by means of free observations of concrete objects and phenomena turning gradually tasks carried out in the form of fun into didactic activities, i.e., to planned and regular learning and teaching. The child should be already prepared to live an individual life in a democratic society since early childhood where co-existence is guarded by wise principles of co-operation. Pupils’ preparation to the individual life is also necessary. Formation of proper attitudes, personality, and skills and knowledge is the most important general aim of upbringing accomplished at school. School supports families in these areas and supplement their influences. Up to now a practical example stirring up plenty of controversy in the environment of both parents and teachers has been for instance Personal Health and Social Education. Therefore we say about three phases of the professional attitude of teachers which they are going through while learning to teach. The first phase consists of attitude of acting how to survive a teacher who has just taken a job is mainly concerned with survival. He worries about assessment of his interpersonal relationships, and whether superiors and pupils will grow fond of him. The second phase is his attitude to a didactic situation. In that phase teachers already habitually fulfil certain tasks and carry out definite actions. Teachers’ attention and energy are transferred to the process of teaching itself. Last stage is achievement of professional maturity and an attitude towards pupils. In this phase teachers try to use more methods and strategy so that pupils could understand presented issues. The functions of improvement of professional skills by teachers should be correlated with supporting top-down educational reforms.

Tolerance, which is the basis for the stability of a democratic state, is an attitude characterized by respecting different views, beliefs and preferences. Throughout history, many philosophers, ethicists and sociologists have been researching this issue in order to find the causes of intolerance in the societies and the possibilities to limit it. Solutions were also sought on the international arena, what was expressed in the implementation of conventions and declarations. It seems particularly interesting to learn about the attitudes of school youth towards the differences of others, and their opinions about the level of tolerance of people around them.
