Opis:
Responding to the comments submitted in the discussion, the author addresses two issues. The first issue concerns the possible peculiarities of psychological research and the transfer of its results to the sphere of social practice. This refers particularly to the publication of psychological works in the language of a given country (in this case, Poland) despite the fact that psychology effectively communicates in English. The author therefore reminds his distinction between two levels of doing psychology. The first level is scientific research. Psychology is an empirical science and has an intersubjective character. The second level is psychological practice. Practice is derivative to the achievements of psychology regarded as a science. What is more, only scientific achievements make actions undertaken in the sphere of psychological practice sensible (as well as ethical). The author voices his opposition to various popular works of pulp psychological literature. The second issue addressed is scientific misconduct, increasingly (and excessively) widespread in the research practice of psychologists, which includes: HARKing, p-hacking, hiding negative results, ghostwriting, guestwriting, etc. The author also comments on the new publication-related initiative aimed at combatting the phenomenon of HARKing – pre-registration. The author stresses that what is important in eradicating misconduct is formative work with graduate and doctoral students, aimed at instilling in them the ethical norms of research work.

Spatial analyses represent a precondition to understanding phenomena and their dynamics as well as the analysis of relations. Worldwide, spatial investigation of crime rates is not a novelty and the results are being actively used in the field of planning preventive activities as well as to present the results of mapping on web portals for the purposes of informing the public. In Slovakia, the crime rates are presumably observed on the level of districts and counties and based on these data, crime rate maps have been created since 2013. On the level of cities and municipalities, the punctuality of crime rate investigation is dependent upon the municipalities as such. Spatial investigation of crime rates is realized only within the range of research projects, namely in the cities of Prešov and Košice. In Košice, crime rates have been spatially investigated since 2013 and despite arguable results with the possibility of them being practically used, spatial investigation in Slovakia has not spread to other cities. One of the reasons is represented by the necessity of being acknowledged with geographical information systems and having sufficient knowledge in the field of rudiments of working with mapping outputs. One of the options in terms of how to fill in the gap is extending the security education in Slovakia and presenting the options the results of analyses might provide in relation to the practice.

Background: Testing general knowledge on antibiotics, and the rational application of them in practice, is very important in order to understand the need to educate society and the irreversible problem of antibiotic resistance. Aim of the study: The aim of the study was to analyze the knowledge and practice of parents regarding responsible antibiotic therapy in respiratory infections. Material and methods: This study was carried out among 317 parents aged 22-61 (M = 34.74; SD = 6.31). The diagnostic survey method was applied, and the research tool was a survey questionnaire. Statistical analysis was performed using the IBM SPSS Statistics 25.0 statistical package. Statistical significance was set at p < 0.05. Results: Viruses were identified as the most frequent cause of respiratory tract infection by respondents (n = 245, 77.3%). According to 91.2% of participants, antibiotics are used against a bacterial infection. Almost all (n = 315, 99.4%) respondents are of the opinion that antibiotics ought to be applied after a medical examination if they are definitely recommended, 97.5% (n = 309) believed that taking antibiotics could not be stopped at any time, whereas 10.4% (n = 33) used antibiotics without contacting a physician. 15.1% (n = 48) of the respondents used the antibiotics left over from previous treatment. Conclusions: The respondents possess knowledge concerning indications for antibiotic treatment and on their rational use, but unfortunately, not everyone uses this knowledge in practice.

W artykule przedstawiony został przegląd współczesnych funkcji użytkowych map w nawiązaniu do relacji wskazanych przez Domańskiego, z wyróżnieniem topologicznych i geometrycznych własności modeli kartograficznych. Zwrócono uwagę na fakt, że postać mapy powinna być ściśle dostosowana do przeznaczenia mapy i uwarunkowań percepcji. Rozwój technik pozyskiwania i przetwarzania danych wywarł znaczący wpływ na proces opracowania map i ich formę. Bardzo interesujące wyniki uzyskano łącząc obrazy satelitarne z symboliką kartograficzną. W pracy omówione zostały najnowsze przykłady różnych map tematycznych z uwzględnieniem ich funkcji użytkowych.
cartographic modeling have been distinguished: geometrical and topologic ones; each of them determines suitable relations between objects. The form of presentation has to be precisely planned according to the limitations of the map perception and – to the main purpose of given map. During last period the map making process was considerably changed by technical device of data transformation and making of interesting results of linkage satellite image with cartographic symbolisation system. Some examples of new type of thematic maps have been analysed in the paper from the users point of view.

As far as teaching practice in mathematics is concerned, we usedifferent methods, forms and tools, which enable pupils to acquire both theoreticalknowledge and practical skills more efficiently. Stanisław Drózdz(1939-2007) was a concrete poet, who, in his work, used not only words, butalso visual art. Poetry, art and mathematics are apparently distant domains,yet when I saw Drózdz‘s works, I noticed the opportunity to use them asoriginal tools in teaching mathematics. I will show his chosen works and differentways of using them in mathematical education. Some of them could beused as illustrations of various concepts (for example at early stages of mathseducation). Others could be starting points in discovering and exploringsome regularities. There are also some which could inspire pupils to look intocertain mathematical problems. Whilst creating his concept-shapes, StanisławDrózdz used similarities and differences of various situations.Searching for similarities and differences using analogies and contrast alsomakes it possible to build mathematical concepts in pupils‘ minds. Byputting together concept and shape, Drózdz worked in a way similar topractice in mathematical education - while defining concepts, we give thema name and (very often) a symbol, and we try to visualize them by givingthem a “shape”. Using Stanisław Drózdz‘s works, it is possible to build yetanother bridge between theory and practice, particularly for pupils to whommaths is not a life-long passion.

On the Polish books market there are a lot of items concerning the SME sector. Dominate publications descriptive, and if they are based on some research, it is usually fragmented, relatively little representative to the whole sector, and have now largely historical character. However, there are few publications that reflect the results of the research directions of structural changes in the SME sector, showing the transition from traditional business to professional company management. The book Artisans and businessmen. Owners of small and medium-sized private enterprises, scientifically edited by Juliusz Gardawski, stands out, thanks to the depth perception of the changes that occurs in the sector, but also due to the long-term watching what happen in reality in this sector of the economy. Discussing the contents of the book, the author analyses a number of ideas, while referring to the world’ scientific output.
Na polskim rynku książek jest dużo pozycji dotyczących sektora MŚP. Przeważają prace, które mają charakter opisowy, a jeśli są oparte na jakichś badaniach, to zazwyczaj wycinkowych, stosunkowo mało reprezentatywnych dla całości sektora, i mających już w dużej mierze charakter historyczny. Niewiele jest natomiast publikacji, które odzwierciedlałyby wyniki prowadzonych badań nad kierunkami zmian strukturalnych w sektorze MŚP, pokazujących przechodzenie od tradycyjnej przedsiębiorczości do profesjonalnego zarządzania firmą. Książka Rzemieślnicy i biznesmeni. Właściciele małych i średnich przedsiębiorstw prywatnych, pod redakcją naukową Juliusza Gardawskiego wyróżnia się, dzięki głębokości postrzegania zmian które zachodzą w tym sektorze, ale także dzięki wieloletniej obserwacji, tego co w tym sektorze gospodarki dzieje się realnie. Omawiając treść książki autor rozwija szereg myśli, odwołując się przy tym do światowego dorobku o naukowego.

Stable and permanent work is the cornerstone of the functioning of every person in the entire period of his adult life. Proper professional qualifications reinforce the area of employment, but their absence can contribute to the emergence of serious problems in finding a suitable job. Capitalist economy is mainly characterized by frequent changes in the labor market, but systematic education and normal development of man from an early age can contribute to the better functioning of adult in his professional life. The article is an attempt to present the results of the survey in students opinion of pedagogical studies of the Faculty of Education at the University of Rzeszów in Rzeszów city on the situation on the Polish labor market, about their career plans, about their activities in acquiring new skills, competencies, as well as the possibility of taking a new job or obtain a promotion during present employment.

The model of manager’s competence formation is developed by the authors. Psychological ability to practice is a key part of this model. An empirical research of psychological ability of future managers to practice is carried out using five questionnaires of psychological tests on the example of Sumy National Agrarian University. It was conducted during 2012/2013 academic year. The authors evaluated the future professionals’ abilities to motivation, risk, entrepreneurship, leadership etc. The results showed that, depending on their psychological features, respondents of each of the four groups are inclined to work in different sectors of economy.

W artykule przedstawiono wybrane praktyki HRM, realizowane w 50 przedsiębiorstwach innowacyjnych. Ich przegląd wykazał wykorzystywanie szerokiego zakresu rozwiązań wspierających innowacyjne zachowania pracowników bądź ukierunkowanych na ich wszechstronny rozwój.
People are basic asset of innovative enterprises. Therefore key role of HRM system which determines commitment of employees in innovative actions. The article presents chosen HRM practices used in 50 innovative organizations. Their review demonstrated exploiting a wide range of solutions supporting innovative behaviours of employees or directed to their broad development.

Opis:
Discussions on the status and nature of lexicography have been ongoing since at least the 1960s. Some of the most frequently discussed issues concern lexicographical theory, including its very existence, which some scholars find problematic. And if it is considered to exist, questions as to what can be treated as a lexicographic theory arise: Is it a theory of dictionary making practice? Is it a linguistic theory? Is it a separate lexicographical theory? The aim of the article is to present and comment on the divergent positions. Finally, the author draws attention to the factors that cause that the discussion on lexicographical theory is not always conducted at the appropriate scientific level.

Pre-sessional EAP access courses for learners of English intending to study on undergraduate or postgraduate courses in the UK are faced with particular challenges in incorporating meaningful suprasegmental pronunciation instruction into their programmes. This research examines the pronunciation goals of teachers, course leaders, and learners on a ten week UK pre-sessional access course, particularly with regard to suprasegmental instruction, how these goals are reflected in pronunciation assessment, and how teacher goals are informed by their attitudes and beliefs. A mixed methods approach, including direct observation and semi-structured interviews, is employed to address the area of enquiry. Results derived from course documents and a semi-structured interview show a lack of clarity of course goals. Although there is a general emphasis on suprasegmental rather than segmental instruction, in semi-structured interviews teachers report a lack of course goals. Assessment and practice do not always adhere to a goal of intelligibility, and support for teachers, in terms of the materials and how they might be exploited seems limited.

Introduction and aim. Junk foods are defined as any of various pre-packaged foods that are high in calories but low in nutritional value. This study was done to evaluate the effect of health education intervention on the knowledge, attitude, and practices regarding junk food consumption among MBBS interns at the tertiary health care center in Chennai, India. Material and methods. This was a quasi-experimental study conducted from January to March 2023 among 105 CRMIs of a Government medical college in Chennai, India. After getting Institutional Ethics Committee approval, data was collected using a pretested self-administered semi structured questionnaire before and after health education intervention. Results. The majority (55.2%) of the respondent interns were hostellers. There was a significant increase in the knowledge (p<0.001), healthy attitude (p<0.001), and healthy practice (p<0.001) concerning junk food intake following health education intervention. Conclusion. Routine repeated sessions promoting health should be implemented in the medical curriculum in order for our future physicians to live a long healthy life as well as to set a good example.

W powyższym tekście została podjęta próba uporządkowania myślenia o wybranych pojęciach związanych z aktywnością edukacyjną ludzi dorosłych. Autorka dokonała porównań między pojęciami takimi jak: trening interpersonalny, trening, szkolenie, dokształcanie i doskonalenie zawodowe. Powyższe terminy wpisuje w pozaformalny obszar edukacji dorosłych. Trening sytuuje w obszarze psychologicznym, szkolenie zaś przypisuje naukom o zarządzaniu. Jednocześnie zwraca uwagę na to, że zarówno trening, jak i szkolenie są kategoriami andragogicznymi. Dotyczą one bowiem edukacyjnego wymiaru życia człowieka dorosłego.
The text aimed at ordering ways of thinking about chosen terms connected with educational activity of adults. The author compared the following terms: interpersonal practice, practice, training, additional training and professional development. She places these terms in non-formal field of adult education. She places practice in psychological field and training in management sciences. At the same time she highlights that both practice and training are andragogial criteria as they refer to the educational dimension of adult’s life.
