    The article discusses the issues of consumer lifestyle in the light of John Paul II personalism. Author describes circumstances of western culture and dangers which can result from the adoption of consumer mindset. The text shows the outline of concepts, ideas and pioneers of personalism, thus making the background to illustrate the main thoughts of Polish philosopher. The meeting point for both matters – consumerism and personalism – is reference to John Paul II words that light problems of limitless consumption. Subject of the article is as current as the important for a proper understanding of the human person in postmodern world.

    The issue of dynamism plays an important role in Karol Wojtyła’s philosophical anthropology. His study takes into account the context of the philosophy of being and the philosophy of consciousness. He emphasizes the importance of experiencing one’s own subjectivity in the course of dynamism.The purpose of the article is to present the structure of human dynamism proposed by Wojtyła. It contains three types of dynamism: dynamism of suppositum, dynamism in a human being (when something happens to him) and dynamism of human action. The first is in the metaphysical field, two more in the phenomenological field. This structure also contains the fieri factor understood as directing the dynamism to the subject.
    Zagadnienie dynamizmu zajmuje ważne miejsce w antropologii filozoficznej Karola Wojtyły. Jego badania uwzględniają kontekst filozofii bytu oraz filozofii świadomości. Akcentuje znaczenie przeżycia własnej podmiotowości w trakcie dynamizmu.Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie zaproponowanej przez niego struktury ludzkiego dynamizmu. Zawiera ona trzy rodzaje dynamizmu: dynamizm suppositum, dynamizm uczynnień oraz dynamizm czynu. Pierwszy ujmowany jest w polu metafizycznym, dwa kolejne w polu fenomenologicznym. W ramach tej struktury ukazano także rolę, jaką pełni fieri, oznaczające skierowanie dynamizmu na swój podmiot.

    The article contains analysis of human ability of communication. The fundament of my reflexion about communication is philosophy of person. Only communication focused on the person have a chance to be authentic and effective (without any mental barriers or obstacles to communication). This is the main conclusion of this article.
    W moim artykule poddałam analizie zdolność człowieka do komunikowania się. Uczyniłam to z personalistycznego punktu widzenia. W ramach swoich refleksji proponuję tezę, że tylko komunikowanie w perspektywie osoby będzie komunikowaniem autentycznym bez psychologicznych przeszkód czy komunikacyjnych barier.

    The relations between dignity, freedom and love in Karol Wojtyła’s philosophy have a strictly defined order. Dignity is the foundation of freedom in both an axiological and ontological sense. Dignity sets the axiological field for freedom, and also expresses the perfection of human-person existence as a rational and free being. Another relation is that freedom is for love, because thanks to freedom love is possible – and at the same time love protects freedom against willfulness. Finally, love is an affirmation of dignity – because only love can fully respond to the demands made by a person’s dignity. Thus, the order of relations can be summarized as follows: starting from dignity, through freedom and love, we return to dignity.
    Relacje zachodzące między godnością, wolnością a miłością w filozofii Karola Wojtyły mają ściśle określony porządek. Godność jest fundamentem wolności zarówno w sensie aksjologicznym, jak i ontologicznym. Godność wyznacza pole aksjologiczne dla wolności, a także wyraża doskonałość bytowania człowieka-osoby jako istoty rozumnej i wolnej. Kolejna relacja polega na tym, że wolność jest dla miłości, ponieważ dzięki wolności miłość jest możliwa – a jednocześnie miłość zabezpiecza wolność przed samowolą. Wreszcie miłość jest afirmacją godność, ponieważ tylko miłość może w pełni odpowiedzieć na wymagania stawiane przez godność osoby. Zatem porządek omawianych relacji można streścić w następujący sposób: wychodząc od godności, poprzez wolność i miłość, powraca się do godności.

    The article constitutes an attempt to present the synthetic understanding of the person as a social and relational being based on the Lublin conception of personalism of late twentieth and early twenty-first century. The analyses of the social horizon of the person cannot be limited to one, however brilliant, perspective. Person needs to be illuminated using cognitive lights of various kinds to approach a broad range of information relevant to it. The personalism of the Lublin School, which is characterised by a multiplicity of methods and forms of the description of a person, while preserving a certain common axiomatic and axiological foundation, is perfectly suited for this. Moreover, in line with the hermeneutic method of a “medium ground,” to describe the personal being personalists from Lublin such as Wincenty Granat, Karol Wojtyła/John Paul II or Czesław Stanisław Bartnik have utilized both philosophical and theological data. Deriving methodological inspiration from the masters mentioned above, the whole inquiry featured in this article is divided into two parts. They include the analyses of philosophical and theological horizons of understanding the social and interpersonal dimension of the person.
    Artykuł stanowi próbę syntetycznego przedstawienia koncepcji osoby jako bytu społecznego i relacyjnego w oparciu o lubelską myśl personalistyczną przełomu XX i XXI wieku. Badanie społecznego horyzontu osoby nie może ograniczać się do przedstawienia pojedynczej, choćby najbardziej genialnej perspektywy. Osobę trzeba rozświetlić za pomocą różnego rodzaju świateł poznawczych w taki sposób, aby dotrzeć do szerokiego wachlarza informacji na jej temat. Doskonale nadaje się do tego lubelski personalizm, który charakteryzuje się wielością metod i form deskrypcji osoby, zarazem zachowując pewien wspólny fundament aksjomatycznyi aksjologiczny. Ponadto, zgodnie z logiką hermeneutycznej metody „po-między,” przy opisie bytu osobowego lubelscy personaliści tacy jak Wincenty Granat, Karol Wojtyła/Jan Paweł II czy Czesław Stanisław Bartnik korzystali zarówno z danych filozoficznych, jak też teologicznych. Czerpiąc metodologiczne inspiracje od powyższych mistrzów, całość dociekań zwartych w tym artykule została podzielona na dwie części, zawierające w sobie analizy filozoficznego i teologicznego horyzontu społecznego rozumienia osoby.

    In traditional anthropology, the problem of the dynamism of the human being was explained by means of human faculties that were seen as distinct from one another on the basis of the activities of man. Having accepted that the traditional approach is well-known and thoroughly elaborated, Karol Wojtyła proposed a complementary approach,  enhancing the classical explanation of human dynamism by following the basic intuition of the person who reveals himself in action. In this article, through several steps, the author presents the framework of the basic thesis of Karol Wojtyła's anthropology, which claims that the action performed by man includes the truth about not only his personal dynamism, but also the very subject of that dynamism itself, that is, the human person. The author shows Wojtyła's stance beginning with the distinction of personal action made against the background of other forms of human dynamism. Then, he describes Wojtyła’s methods of explanation in reference to the Aristotelian theory of act and potency. Continuing, he analyzes the problem of causativeness of action, which will turn out to be crucial for understanding man as a person. Finally, he sketches Wojtyla's conception of the fulfillment of man through his action.

    Celem artykułu jest wskazanie w utworach dramatycznych Karola Wojtyły scen, problemów i tematów, które w jakiejś formie pojawiają się także w prowadzonej przez niego pracy badawczej. Przyjętą metodą badawczą, służącą osiągnięciu tego celu, jest analiza i porównanie utworów dramaturgicznych i prac filozoficznych pod kątem występowania w nich wspólnych tematów, przy jednoczesnym zachowaniu świadomości, że należą one do odrębnych dziedzin i wyrażane są językiem sobie właściwym. Efektem tak podjętego badania jest wskazanie wspólnych dla twórczości dramaturgicznej i myśli filozoficznej tematów oraz problemów, którymi między innymi są: dojrzewanie oraz spełnianie się człowieka jako osoby, a więc jako bytu rozumnego i wolnego, a także otwartego na relacje międzyosobowe i zdolnego do tworzenia wspólnoty; miłość, w różnych jej przejawach, a zwłaszcza miłość oblubieńcza; ogólne nakierowanie poznawcze na człowieka, które dokonywane jest za pomocą szeroko pojętego doświadczenia.
    The aim of this paper is to identify, in the plays written by Karol Wojtyła, those scenes, problems and themes which are also present, albeit in a different form, in his scholarly output. To achieve this aim, a method of analysis and comparison was adopted: the author looked for common motifs present in Wojtyła’s dramas and in his philosophical works, while keeping in mind the differences between these two areas of intellectual activity, and especially their specific language. The result of this research is the discovery of the following themes and problems addressed by Wojtyła, both as a playwright and as a philosopher: human development, maturity, and one’s fulfilment as a person, i.e. as a rational and free being open to interpersonal relationships and capable of creating a community; love in its different manifestations, particularly spousal love; and the human being as the general cognitive focus of reflection based on broadly understood experiences.

    Wielkie uznanie dla encykliki Veritatis splendor zrodziło się z jej augustynizmu. W myśli Wojtyły dominują dwa augustyńskie motywy, jeden zaczerpnięty z Maxa Schelera, drugi z Henri de Lubaca i nouvelle théologie. Jedność bytu i dobra to podstawa, na której potwierdza on integralność ontologiczną osobowego podmiotu działania. Pierwszeństwo łaski Bożej, prowadzącej człowieka jako podmiot działania do moralnego urzeczywistnienia, kieruje jego myśleniem o sumieniu jako wewnętrznym dialogu z Bogiem. Cała moralna samoświadomość zależy od tego spotkania, natomiast ciągłość osoby umożliwia rozwój moralnego doświadczenia.
    The wide appeal of Veritatis Splendor lay in its Augustinianism. Two Augustinian themes predominate in Wojtyła's thought, one derived from Max Scheler, the other from Henri de Lubac and the nouvelle théologie. The unity of being and the good is the basis on which he can reassert the ontological integrity of the personal agent. The priority of divine grace in leading the human agent to moral fulfilment directs his thinking about the conscience as an inner dialogue with God. All moral self-awareness depends on that encounter, while the continuity of the person makes possible the accrual of moral experience.

    The paper studies the problem of the transcendence of the person suggested by Karol Wojtyła/John Paul II. It originates in the philosophical thought of this Polish personalist and is complemented in his theological works. According to Wojtyła transcendence can be described as “another name for the person” as it is closely related to the fulfilment of man as a personal being. The paper contains analyses of three dimensions of transcendence, and these are: 1) transcendence in action; 2) transcendence towards another “I”; and 3) transcendence towards personal God.
    Niniejszy artykuł podejmuje problematykę transcendencji osoby zaproponowaną przez Karola Wojtyłę/Jana Pawła II. Bierze ona swój początek w filozoficznej myśli wielkiego Polaka, uzyskując swoje dopełnienie w jego teologicznej twórczości. Dla Wojtyły transcendencję można określić jako „drugie imię osoby”, ponieważ jest ona ściśle związana ze spełnianiem się człowieka jako bytu osobowego. Tekst zawiera analizy trzech wymiarów transcendencji, którymi są: 1) transcendencja w czynie; 2) transcendencja ku drugiemu „ja” oraz 3) transcendencja w kierunku osobowego Boga.

    Artykuł rekonstruuje i analizuje Wojtyłowską propozycję przezwyciężenia dualizmu antropologicznego przez syntezę teleologicznych tendencji natury ludzkiej z autoteleologią wolności osoby. Propozycja ta zmierza równocześnie do syntezy filozofii bytu i filozofii świadomości, inaczej syntezy podmiotowego i przedmiotowego, subiektywnego i obiektywnego ujęcia człowieka oraz norm moralnych. Droga ta jest trudniejsza niż obrana przez antropologię spirytualistyczną lub jej przeciwieństwo, antropologię naturalistyczną, czy materialistyczną. Drogę tę można nazwać filozofią i antropologią integralną, łączącą w sobie pełne ujęcie bytu ludzkiego.
    The paper is reconstructing and analyzing the Karol Wojtyła’s proposition to overcome dualism in anthropology by developing a synthesis of teleological tendency of human nature and autoteleology of personal freedom. This proposition leads up also to synthesis of philosophy of being with philosophy of consciousness, that is synthesis of subjective and objective approach to a human being and his moral norms. This way is more difficult in comparison with spiritual anthropology or with its contrariety – naturalistic or materialistic anthropology. We can call it integral anthropology, because it present a complete conception of human being.

    The article shows all communication activities from the perspective of “person and his deed.” The author refers in its analysis to the personalistic thinking generated by Karol Wojtyla. In any process of communication is present man as its creator, the recipient or participant. Every communication is the act of a person and in each of them are also involved other persons, according to the nature and character of the communication. The main advantage of and determinant of being a person is its inalienable value and dignity. Respect for the value and dignity of man is thus the foundation of all communication. The author attempts to justify the personalistic vision of human dignity is a good, methodologically and in terms of content, platform for axiological reflection in the context of contemporary problems of communication media.

Antropologiczny wysiłek Wojtyły zmierzał do uchwycenia tego, co nieredukowalne w człowieku, z zachowaniem jego wymiaru bytowego i zarazem podmiotowego (świadomościowego). Punktem wyjścia analiz jest złożoność człowieka z różnych czynników, sprowadzalnych do cielesności i duchowości (ujętych początkowo jako fenomeny doświadczalne). Analiza transcendencji oraz tzw. integracji natury w osobie, ukazującej zjednoczenie różnorodnych struktur w jedności bytowej, zmierza w sposób metodycznie ugruntowany do ukazania integralności i wyjątkowości człowieka jako osoby. Specyficzne istnienie osobowe, uzasadniające także bytową jedność człowieka, jest uchwytne w aktach przeżywania, w kategoriach samopanowania i samoposiadania, w doświadczeniu transcendencji, jak również swojej cielesności. Wieńczącym momentem podjętej tu refleksji jest zwrócenie uwagi na fakt, iż człowiek spełnia się jako osoba poprzez swoistą osobową otwartość na prawdę, dobro i piękno, która to otwartość przejawia się zwłaszcza w zjednoczeniu z drugim człowiekiem, a także w pragnieniu zjednoczenia z samym źródłem istnienia, osobowym Absolutem.
    The purpose of the analyses carried out in this article is, according to Wojtyła’s words, an attempt to understand the human person for herself, in order to answer the challenge that human experience brings in all her wealth, as well as the existential problem of man in the modern world. The content of the article consists of analyses of selected fragments from the anthropological works of Wojtyła. It is considered in turn: the specificity of the person in relation to nature, the person-nature dynamism, the concepts of transcendence and integration of the person, the soul-body relationship, the unity of the person, and the purpose of personal life. Wojtyła’s anthropological effort was to capture what is irreducible in man, keeping his ontological and subjective (conscious) dimension. The starting point for the analyses is the composition of man of different factors reducible to carnality and spirituality (taken at the beginning as the experiential phenomena). The analysis of a person’s transcendence and then so called integration of nature in a person showing the unification of various structures into the ontic oneness, strives in a methodically grounded way to show the integrity and uniquenessof man as a person. The specific personal existence that justifies also the ontic unity of man, is grasped in the acts of lived experience, in the categories of self-ruling and self-owning, inthe experience of transcendence, as well as in his corporeality.The culminating moment of this reflection is drawing attention to the fact that man fulfills himself as a person through a kind of personal openness to truth, goodness and beauty, which is manifested especially in union with another human being, and in the desire to unite with the very source of existence, the personal Absolute.
