Opis:
There is presented a practically well grounded approach concerned with the identification, evaluation, prediction and optimization of reliability, availability and safety of technical systems related to their operation processes. The main emphasis of this approach is on multi-state systems composed of ageing components and changing during the operation processes their structures and their components reliability and safety characteristics. There are proposed the convenient tools for analyzing these systems in the form of semi-markov modeling the systems’ operation processes and multistate modeling the systems’ reliability. There are described theoretical results of the proposed approach to reliability and safety analysis of multistate systems with degrading components in their operation processes and the possibility of their practical applications to the reliability and safety analysis and optimization of the complex technical port and maritime transportation systems.

The paper contains an analysis of the operational process of heat supply system with taking into consideration its reliability. The specific character of the operation of heat-supply systems has been considered in this work. In the process of the exploitation of heat-supply systems there have been distinguished five operational states, assuming as a criterion of the level of indoor temperature decrease in residential rooms. The method of modelling the operational reliability of heat-supply systems is worked out. The methodology of determining the overall index of heat-supply system reliability has been presented. The measure of heat-supply system reliability has been assumed as the scale/quantity of inadequate supply of heat power at a given state. Calculations have been carried out regarding the changeability of exterior conditions for one of the groups of customers – residential users. On the basis of the operational data for the heat supply system with two heat sources shortage quantities of heat power and the probability of their occurrence have been calculated as an application of this methodology.

Opis:
A multi-state approach to defining basic notions of the system safety analysis is proposed. A system safety function and a system risk function are defined. A basic safety structure of a multi-state series system of components with degrading safety states is defined. For this system the multi-state safety function is determined. The proposed approach is applied to the evaluation of a safety function, a risk function and other safety characteristics of a ship system composed of a number of subsystems having an essential influence on the ship safety. Further, a semi-Markov process for the considered system operation modelling is applied. The paper also offers a general approach to the solution of a practically important problem of linking the multi-state system safety model and its operation process model. Finally, the proposed general approach is applied to the preliminary evaluation of a safety function, a risk function and other safety characteristics of a ship system with varying in time its structure and safety characteristics of the subsystems it is composed of.

The combination of the results on the reliability of complex multi-state systems related to their operation processes and the results concerning the limit reliability functions of the multistate systems is proposed, to obtain the results on the asymptotic approach to the evaluation of the large complex multi-state systems reliability at the variable operation conditions. The asymptotic approach to the large complex system reliability evaluation and the large complex system limit reliability function are defined. Limit reliability functions of selected large complex systems composed of components having Weibull reliability functions are fixed. The way of using this results is illustrated by their application to the evaluation of reliability characteristics of the large complex port grain transportation subsystem composed of three large multistate non-homogeneous series systems and changing its reliability structure and its components reliability parameters at variable operation conditions.

In the article, a method for assessment of risks connected with a technical object functioning has been studied, in a selected operating system. An urban system of bus transportation, in a selected urban complex, has been chosen as the research object. Functioning of each technical object operating system, including transportation systems, is dependent on its possibility to perform properly the assigned transport task. One of the methods for assessment of the transportation system ability to accomplish the assigned transport task in a proper way is determination of the transport means operation risk. The presented approach involves determination of indexes defining the risks connected with functioning of one technical object (transport means) in an executive subsystem. Indexes of the risk connected with functioning of a single technical object have been determined on the basis of a mathematical model of the operation process, in the studied transportation system. On the basis of the identification of the authentic transport system and the means of transport operation process carried out in it, crucial operational states were designed as well as the possibilities of transferring between the particular states. Based on that, an event-centered model of the use of the means of transport was built, followed by a mathematical model of that process. A Mathematical model of the operation process has been developed with acceptance of an assumption that the process model is to be represented by a homogeneous Markov model X(t). In this paper, the transport means operation risk is determined as a product of probability (or sum of probabilities) of its being in an undesirable state (states) of the Markov model of transport means operation process and the size of the damage in effect of being in the state (states). The size of the suffered damage is measured by a product of time and unit cost whose quantities are connected with being in the operation process undesirable state or states. Assessment of risk connected with technical objects operation and maintenance can be the point of reference to formulate design requirements concerning durability and reliability of the operated objects (transport means) as well as assumptions concerning design or modernization of the technical means necessary for assurance of the vehicle availability in a given transport system.

Opis:
A convenient new tool for solving the problem of reliability and availability evaluation and optimization of complex technical systems is presented. Linking a semi-markov modeling of the system operation processes with a multi-state approach to system reliability and availability analysis is proposed to construct the joint general model of reliability and availability of complex technical systems in variable operation conditions. This joint model and a linear programming is proposed to complex technical systems reliability and availability evaluation and optimization respectively.

The paper presents Monte Carlo simulation method applied to the reliability evaluation of a multistate system subjected to a variable multistate operation process. The system operation process model is linked with the system reliability model and proposed to get a general reliability model of the complex system operating at varying in time operation conditions and to find its reliability characteristics. The Monte Carlo simulation algorithm based on the integrated general model of a complex multistate system reliability, linking its reliability model and its operation process model and considering variable at different operation states its reliability structure and its components reliability parameters is applied to the reliability evaluation of port grain transportation system. Next the results of this simulation method application are illustrated and compared with the results obtained by the analytical method.

The method of the statistical data sets uniformity analysis based on Kolmogorov-Smirnov test is presented. The procedure of statistical data sets uniformity testing is proposed to be applied to the empirical sojourn times in operation states coming from the operation processes of the complex technical systems. The proposed procedure is practically applied to the analysis and uniformity testing of the maritime ferry spring and Winter sets of realizations of the sojourn times in particular operation states.

An analysis of experimental tests and a literature survey of the issue revealed that the problems connected with assessment of costs and effectiveness of transport means repairs has a significant influence on their operation efficiency. Operating factors affecting the elements of technical objects cause negative changes in their features resulting in failures. The failures are referred to as events which significantly impair the vehicle operation efficiency, safety and reliability. On the basis of experimental tests concerning times of failures occurrence, it was found that the set of failures can be divided into subsets of primary and secondary failures. The tests results revealed that the most frequent cause of secondary failures occurrence was improperly performed primary repairs. Primary failures are not related to each other and they appear randomly. However, secondary failures are related to each other as their occurrence is conditioned by the primary failure and results from an inappropriate performance of the successive secondary failure. Basing on an analysis of the author 's own tests results, it was established that failures of transport means used in real transport systems are the effect of impact of various forcing factors. Some failures result from the natural wear of machine elements, whereas, other failures can be caused by inappropriate repair of the previous damage. Thus, there occur the so called secondary failures in a short period of time. In connection with this, high efficiency of the repair performance is of primary importance as it largely affects efficiency of transport tasks accomplishment. In this article, there has been discussed a method developed for assessment of repair costs connected with elimination of secondary failures and its influence on the studied transport system operation efficiency. Familiarity with available technologies for repairs of primary failures as well as with costs of work and costs connected with technical equipment of the repair stations enables specification of the lowest costs necessary for reduction of the number of secondary failures and the average time of their repairs.

In the article, a method for determination of the technical object availability, GO (r) in a finite time interval x, defined by the time of the transport task duration, has been discussed. All of the study has been presented on the example of a selected system of technical object operation - a system of transport means operation, in a big urban complex (more than 400 thousand inhabitants). Direct performance of the transport tasks in the analyzed system is the responsibility of an executive system consisting of elementary subsystems of the type operator- transport means. Availability of transport means elementary subsystems is crucial for efficient accomplishment of transport tasks. The presented method involves determination of the technical object availability, on the basis of a mathematical model of the operation process which takes place in the studied system, taking into consideration the technical object reliability characteristics. For this purpose, significant states of the transport means operation have been determined and they have been classified in terms of the availability criterion. Basing on this, an event and mathematical models of transport means operation process have been developed, with the semi Markov homogenous model serving as a mathematical model of the studied operation process. Also, values of the analyzed characteristics have been determined.

The paper explores the mathematical and computer modeling of complex technical systems related to their operation processes. The complex technical system with the reliability structure and components’ reliability parameters changing at the various operation states is defined. The selected system operation process parameters and the hypothetical distribution functions of the conditional sojourn times at the operation states are defined and identified. The reliability functions of the multistate system and components are introduced and their parameters are identified. The Monte Carlo simulation method is proposed to the complex system reliability evaluation. Moreover, the proposed theoretical and simulation tools are supported with the practical application to the multi-state port oil piping transportation system reliability analysis.

W artykule przedstawiona jest metoda optymalizacji procesu eksploatacji i niezawodności złożonych systemów technicznych oraz program komputerowy pozwalający na automatyczne zastosowanie proponowanej procedury. Program wyznacza chwilowe prawdopodobieństwa przebywania systemu w poszczególnych stanach eksploatacyjnych, które maksymalizują czasy przebywania systemu w podzbiorach stanów niezawodnościowych nie gorszych niż stan krytyczny, a następnie korzystając z otrzymanych rezultatów pozwala na predykcję optymalnych charakterystyk niezawodności i ryzyka złożonych systemów technicznych. Program jest zastosowany do optymalizacji niezawodności i ryzyka lądowego linowego transportera statków. Ustalone są następujące optymalne charakterystyki: optymalna bezwarunkowa funkcja niezawodności systemu, optymalne wartości średnie bezwarunkowych czasów przebywania systemu w podzbiorach stanów niezawodnościowych, optymalna funkcja ryzyka systemu oraz optymalny moment, kiedy funkcja ryzyka przekroczy ustalony poziom.
The presented computer program for the evaluation and prediction of the complex technical system reliability and risk of optimal characteristics is based on methods and algorithms of optimisation presented in [2, 6, 7]. The computer program determines the transient probabilities in particular operation states maximising the system lifetimes in the reliability-state subset not worse than the system critical reliability state and then using the obtained results to evaluate optimal reliability and risk characteristics of the complex technical systems. In order to illustrate the application of the computer program, we determined optimal reliability and risk characteristics of a ground ship-rope transporter. Presented in the paper is the reliability and risk optimisation of a real shipyard system that can be an example of a computer aid for the operation process of transportation systems.
