    Since the 1960s, in the circles of the so called feminist theology, there has been a strong call for a departure from the androcentric image of God in the exegesis of biblical texts. It initialized a differentiation, very radical at times, into fatherly and motherly features of God. This dualistic approach is evident especially in the aspect of God’s love to the human. However, a thorough analysis of the prophetic texts by Hosea and Isaiah, in which we find the metaphor of God’s motherly love, also leads to a significant observation that these authors never fragment God’s qualities, but present them as complementary: God loves the human with a love that is fatherly and motherly at the same time. God is a perfect being. The Scripture is a testimony of God who is Fullness (see: Col 1:19; 2:9; Eph 1:23; 3:19) and as such he gives himself to the human. Exposed to the effect of the loving God, the human receives a love that in the material world is associated with either male or female features, but which – in itself – is simply divine.

    Celem artykułu jest ukazanie możliwości wsparcia rodziny, która dotknięta jest przemocą prenatalną spowodowaną zaniedbaniem. Poprzez analizę samego zjawiska oraz przyczyn i następstw jego występowania dokonano syntezy, która pozwala określić konkretne działania wspierające rodzinę dotkniętą tym problemem. Uzyskana synteza ukazuje przemoc prenatalną jako zjawisko wielopłaszczyznowe, a wsparcie rodziny powinno dokonywać się poprzez stosowanie właściwej semantyki, wspieranie umiejętności dialogu z dzieckiem w okresie prenatalnym, a także konkretne działania instytucjonalne i edukacyjne.
    This article aims to show possibilities of supporting a family affected by prenatal violence caused by negligence. A synthesis has been made that allows to specify which actions should be undertaken to support a family affected by this problem. The synthesis was reached trough analysis of the phenomenon itself, as well as its causes and consequences. The synthesis shows prenatal violence as a multidimensional phenomenon, and the support of the family should take place through appropriate semantics, supporting dialogue skills with the child during a prenatal period, and specifi c institutional and educational actions.

    Koniecznym dopełnieniem obrazu dzieciństwa w Polsce średniowiecznej i nowożytnej jest dzieciństwo dzieci królewskich. Oczekiwanie na dziecko królewskie miało dwa wymiary — lepiej widoczną perspektywę publiczną i trudniej uchwytny wymiar prywatny. Przeznaczenie królowej do macierzyństwa podkreślane było w rozpisanym na etapy procesie stawania się królową. W macierzyńskiej historii jagiellońskich żon — z jedenastu matkami zostało sześć — liczne były szczęśliwe rozwiązania, ale zdarzały się także poronienia. W badaniach nad kwestią oczekiwania na dziecko ważne są zagadnienia zachowania królowych w czasie ciąży, relacji z małżonkiem, przestrzegania zaleceń medycznych, opieki lekarskiej i akuszerskiej, podejmowania różnych aktywności, zabezpieczania potrzeb mającego się urodzić dziecka czy w końcu wykorzystanie tego czasu na budowanie pozycji królowej i jej queenship.
    The image childhood of royal children is a necessary addition to that of childhood in medieval and modern Poland. It should be noted that the expectation of a royal child had two dimensions, a readily apparent public one and a difficult-to-trace private one. A queen’s destiny for motherhood was emphasised in the process of her becoming the queen, which was divided into stages. In the history the Jagiellonian wives as mothers — six out of eleven wives were also mothers — there were numerous successful deliveries but there were also some miscarriages. The important issues in the research on this period include the queens’ behaviour during their pregnancies, their relationships with the husbands, their following of medical, healthcare, and midwife recommendations, their undertaking of various activities, the securing of the needs of the expected child, and, finally, the way they used this time to build their position and the image of queenship.

    Artykuł jest analizą pierwszego sezonu serialu HBO Max Wychowane przez wilki (Raised by Wolves, prod. Aaron Guzikowski, 2020) w kontekście sposobu przedstawienia tożsamości rodzicielskich. Autorka koncentruje się na sposobie ukazania rodziny i postaci matki (centralnej w opowiadanej historii) oraz problemie reprodukcji i jej wpisania w konstrukcję fikcyjnego, serialowego uniwersum. Badając wytwarzane w serialu (i przez niego) wyobrażenia, zwraca uwagę na ich zakorzenienie we wcześniejszych, XX-wiecznych wizjach rodziny, kobiecości, macierzyństwa, nauki i technologii. Analiza serialu pozwala zaobserwować przemiany niegdysiejszych projektów emancypacyjnych (szczególnie tych związanych z feminizmem) oraz sposób, w jaki popularna narracja science fiction oddaje współczesną wrażliwość związaną z wyobrażeniami rodzicielstwa i jego roli społecznej.
    The article analyzes the first season of HBO Max show Raised by Wolves (2020, showrunner: Aaron Guzikowski), tracing its ways of presenting parental identities. It focuses on the way the family is portrayed, on the figure of the mother that seems to be central to the story, and on the problem of reproduction, within the broader context of the construction of the fictional universe. By tracing the representations shown in Raised by Wolves, the article reveals their rooting within earlier, 20th century visions of the family, womanhood, motherhood, science and technology, while simultaneously noting their transformations. Thus, the analysis of the show allows the author to look at the changes of the erstwhile emancipation projects (especially linked to feminism) and to note how the popular science fiction show reflects contemporary ideas of parenthood and its social role.

    Przedmiot rozważań stanowi najwcześniejsze macierzyństwo i ojcostwo bezpośrednio związane z towarzyszeniem dziecku od poczęcia. Celem zaś jest przedstawienie procesu wzrastania kobiety i mężczyzny do rodzicielstwa od chwili poczęcia do narodzin potomka. Zastosowana analiza literatury przedmiotu pozwoliła na stwierdzenie, że współcześnie coraz częściej uważa się, że macierzyństwo i ojcostwo zaczyna się w chwili poczęcia dziecka, a nie w chwili jego narodzin. Nazwanie małżonków rodzicami dziecka w prenatalnym okresie życia powoduje, że staje się ono „pełnoprawnym”, a nie „przyszłym” dzieckiem, zarodkiem czy płodem. Kobieta i mężczyzna zaś dojrzewają w swoim macierzyństwie i ojcostwie, przy czym proces ten u obojga rozpoczyna się właśnie w chwili poczęcia, a nie narodzin dziecka.
    The subject of consideration is the earliest motherhood and fatherhood directly related to accompanying a child from conception. The aim is to present the process of growing a woman and a man to parenthood from the moment of conception to the birth of a child. The analysis of the literature on the subject allowed to conclude that nowadays, is increasingly considered are heard that motherhood and fatherhood begin at the moment of conception of a child, and not at its birth. Calling spouses the parents of a child in the prenatal period of life causes it to become a “full-fl edged” child, not a “future” child, embryo or fetus. On the other hand, a woman and a man mature in their motherhood and fatherhood, and this process begins in both of them at conception, not at the birth of the child.

    The article describes the results of biographical studies showing the various aspects of change in the lives of young parents after their first child is born. On the basis of the analysis of this narration, areas of change have been distinguished, relating to different spheres of life of the people narrating their stories. The author discusses parenthood and family from the perspective of young parents and compares the points of view of men and women.

The importance of the family in national and social life and upbringing in the family in Wyszyński’s social thought were presented.

    W artykule podjęta została problematyka rozwodu i jego konsekwencji dla funkcjonowania dziecka. Wskazane zostały najczęściej podawane przyczyny rozwodu oraz wybrane teorie, które mogą być wykorzystywane w podejmowanej w artykule problematyce. Podjęte zostało również zagadnienie rozwodu jako sytuacji trudnej, „zdarzenia krytycznego”, „trajektorii cierpienia”. Ukazano dziecko w sytuacji kryzysu rozwodowego, charakteryzując stadia rozwodu przez jakie przechodzi dziecko jego doświadczające. Zaprezentowane zostały również emocje towarzyszące dziecku w obliczu rozwodu rodziców.  Kolejnym zagadnieniem poruszonym w artykule były sposoby radzenia sobie dziecka z rozwodem rodziców. Wskazane zostały czynniki sprzyjające pozytywnej adaptacji dziecka do sytuacji w jakiej się znajduje podczas rozwodu rodziców. W artykule zaprezentowano również implikacje pedagogiczne dotyczące tego, jak wspierać dziecko w sytuacji rozstania rodziców.
    The article discusses the issue of divorce and its consequences for the functioning of the child. The most frequently mentioned reasons for divorce and selected theories than can be used in the article’s issues are indicated. The issue of divorce as a difficult situation has also been addressed, ‘critical events’, ‘trajectories od suffering’. The child is shown in a situation of a divorce crisis, characterizing the stages of divorce that the experiencing child goes through. The emotions accompanying the child in the face of parents' divorce were also presented. Another issue raised in the article was how the child copes with the parents’ divorce. Factors conductive to the positive adaptation of the child to divorce have been identified. The article also presents the pedagogical implications of how to support the child when parents break up.

    Opis:
    In the teachings of John Paul II the category of parenthood, considered from a philosophical, religious, social, moral or cultural perspective, is always integrally connected with such concepts as marriage and family, fatherhood, motherhood and posterity. The meaning of these notions blends with the truth about man which has its roots in the human nature and its deeper meaning in the Christian Revelation. The Pope’s teaching in this respect may and should be interpreted in the light of Christian personalism, with special focus on two key notions – that of a person and a gift (the sincere gift of self). John Paul II devotes much attention to the issue of responsible parenthood, connected with the idea of the civilization of love, and education which can be viewed as continuation of parenthood. Education then is before all else a reciprocal “offering” on the part of both parents. The Pope sees the parental function as a service to life, which leads to revelation of life. This takes place in the family circle, envisioned as the “sanctuary of life”. He shares the observation that nowadays these sanctuaries of life not infrequently undergo deep and manifold crisis. Fatherhood and motherhood seem to be in the very centre of this crisis, especially due to profanation of family’s sacredness resulting from contraception, abortion, in vitro fertilization, divorces, sexual education devoid of ideals and the like. These sanctuaries of life are at times entirely devastated. Their dilapidation is a process intended by various international centres – numerous feminist, pro-abortion and gay organizations, just to mention some. Source materials which serve as a basis for presented reflections are first and fore most the following: The apostolic exhortation Familiaris consortio of November 22, 1981; the apostolic Letter Mulieris dignitatem of August 15, 1988; the letter to Families from Pope John Paul II Gratissimam sane of February 2, 1994 and the encyclical Evangelium vitae of March 25, 1995. Attached to the abovementioned documents is also 1983 Charter of the Rights of the Family, aimed especially at the countries, organisations and institutions responsible for the situation of the family in today’s world.

    Opis:
    In the article the problem of the parents' responsibility for the conceived child was addressed. The issue is truly important especially in the light of the appearing dangers to the life and health of the unborn child such as abortion or prenatal violence. In the first paragraph the definition of responsibility was formulated in reference to the conceived child and the parents. The second paragraph contains thoughts about the responsibility of the mother for her unborn child. Several aspects were stressed, like the significance of the mother's lifestyle, the child's health and the communication between the mother and the child. In the final part of the article the bottom line is the responsibility of the father in reference to his involvement in protection of the child's life and health. The main focus concerns the support given to the woman by the father of her child.
    W artykule podjęto problem odpowiedzialności rodziców za poczęte dziecko. Zagadnienie to jest niezwykle ważne zwłaszcza w obliczu występujących zagrożeń dla życia i zdrowia dziecka prenatalnego, takich jak aborcja czy przemoc prenatalna. W punkcie pierwszym ukazano definicyjne ujęcie odpowiedzialności w odniesieniu do poczętego dziecka oraz rodziców. W punkcie drugim poruszono problem odpowiedzialności matki za dziecko poczęte, podkreślone zostało znaczenie trybu życia matki na życie i zdrowie poczętego dziecka, a także więzi oraz komunikacji matki z dzieckiem prenatalnym. W punkcie trzecim zaakcentowano współodpowiedzialność ojca w zakresie obrony życia i zdrowia poczętego dziecka, zwrócono także uwagę na szczególne znaczenie wsparcia udzielonego kobiecie w ciąży przez ojca dziecka.

    Charakterystyczny dla współczesnej kultury dualizm antropologiczny, który rozdziela człowieka na dwie różne sfery: materialną i duchową, uniemożliwia rozmowę na fundamentalne dla współczesności tematy, dotyczące ciała, płci, seksualności. W swojej filozoficznej i teologicznej antropologii Jan Paweł II zmierzył się z tym błędem, tworząc pojęcie sensu ciała, oblubieńczego i rodzicielskiego. Artykuł jest próbą zastosowania tego pojęcia, kluczowego dla tzw. „teologii ciała” Jana Pawła II, do krytycznej refleksji na temat rozszerzonego rozumienia ojcostwa i macierzyństwa, zrywającego więź pomiędzy biologicznym pochodzeniem dziecka i emocjonalną, realną więzią z rodzicami.
    The anthropological dualism characteristic of contemporary culture divides the human being into two distinct spheres: material and spiritual. As a result, it is almost impossible to talk meaningfully today about certain topics of fundamental importance: the body, sex, and sexuality. In his philosophical and theological anthropology, John Paul II challenged this error by creating the concept of the spousal and parental sense of the body. The present article is an attempt to apply this concept, key to the so-called “Theology of the Body” of John Paul II. Through critical reflection we can arrive at a broader understanding of fatherhood and motherhood, a way of thinking that breaks the bond between the biological origin of a child and the emotional, real bond formed with his or her parents.

    Opis:
    Emily Dickinson was not married nor had children, she did not establish a family, but she had a life filled to the brim with love, friendship, suffering, death, searching for God and, of course, writing poems about all these fundamental phenomena of human existence. Her poetry reveals a picture of a woman who is unusually spiritually rich, beautiful and…unhappy, living for the bigger part of her mature existence like a hermit, oftentimes being a witness of deaths of those to whom she was closest. Additionally, perhaps because of her Sapphic inclination, she could experience suffering being forced to suppress it and feeling social isolation or exclusion. On the other hand, any reader of poems by “the nun of Amherst” can sense a great blast of happiness and some ecstatic delight over the existence itself and… the possibility of expressing this delight in poems. Just life itself and poetry were the greatest passions of Dickinson among many others which profusely filled her psyche. Indeed, it is difficult to assess which of these two infatuations was stronger. That is why I used in the title of my essay a neologism: “life-writing” (“życiopisanie”), which was some time ago first employed by the Polish poet Edward Stachura in reference to his own life and poetry. Terence Davies’s movie about Emily Dickinson and her life is a real masterpiece in which the weave of the two main  passions Dickinson had, their interpenetration, their ardent intimacy or simply  indissolubility and unity have been shown in a deliciously suggestive way. The essay is a modest attempt at using such a way of describing things.
