    The basic sources for research on the names of Iskrzynia inhabitants in the 19th century were baptismal registers from the years 1848-1900. The author focused on different factors which could affect the choice of a Christian name, that is to say, family tradition, literary influence, changing fashion. It was also pointed out that the relation between the date of baptism and a saint patron played an important role in deciding on a name for a child. Over 47% of boys received the names of patrons whose days were in the month of their baptism, for girls the percentage was almost 26%. The range of Iskrzynia inhabitants’ names given in baptism is wide. In the studied period there were 59 kinds of male names and 59 female ones. The most popular male names were: Jan, Stanisław, Franciszek, Józef and female ones: Marianna, Aniela, Katarzyna and Helena.

    The previous issue of the journal contains part 2 of the work. The paper presents the late 19th-century attempts to catalogue the whole collection and recent research, which resulted in the following work. The article includes information about the collection of the register books held in the archives of the following parishes: Fajsławice; Firlej; Garbów; Gołąb; Kamionka; Karczmiska; Kazimierz; Kiełczewice; Kijany.
    Publikacja jest kontynuacją serii wydawniczej rozpoczętej w 109 tomie czasopisma „Archiwa, Biblioteki i Muzea Kościelne”. W niniejszej części przedstawiono wykaz ksiąg metrykalnych i akt stanu cywilnego parafii: Fajsławice, Firlej, Garbów, Gołąb, Kamionka, Karczmiska, Kazimierz, Kiełczewice, Kijany.

    Głównym zamierzeniem niniejszego artykułu było omówienie dotychczasowych badań nad ruchem naturalnym Lubelszczyzny oraz wskazanie problemów badawczych, jakie wiązały się z wykorzystaniem podstawowego w tym przypadku źródła – ksiąg metrykalnych. Za prekursora tych badań należy uznać Henryka Wiercieńskiego, który na początku XX wieku zainicjował akcję zliczania trzech serii danych. Kontynuatorem prac, już po II wojnie światowej, był Zygmunt Sułowski, a następnie jego uczniowie. Na podstawie doświadczeń kilku pokoleń badaczy można wskazać podstawowe zagrożenia związane z wykorzystaniem rejestracji ciągłej Lubelszczyzny. Podstawowy mankament stanowi kompletność tego źródła, dostępność do zachowanego zasobu, a także znaczące nakłady pracy, dostępność do zasobu, a także znaczące nakłady pracy. W przypadku Lubelszczyzny spotęgowane to jest faktem, iż po 1797 roku prowadzono równolegle nawet trzy typy ksiąg, tj. według formularza trydenckiego, austriackiego i napoleońskiego (polskiego). Zdarzało się, iż liczby zapisów w poszczególnych księgach nie zawsze były równe. W artykule przedstawiono również obecnie trwające badania nad ruchem naturalnym Lubelszczyzny, wykorzystujące nowe techniki i metody, m.in. projekcję odwróconą, a także działania zmierzające w kierunku digitalizacji ksiąg metrykalnych, przechowywanych w archiwach parafialnych, i udostępnienia ich szerszemu gronu badaczy.
    The article presents the current state of research into vital events in the Region of Lublin and identifies the research problems which were connected with parish registers, the basic source in the research of that kind. Henryk Wiercieński is considered the forerunner of that research; at the beginning of the 20th century he initiated an action of counting three series of data. After the Second World War the work was continued by Zygmunt Sułowski and his followers. Thanks to several generations of researchers it is now possible to identify the basic threats of the continuous registration in the Lublin Region, among which the main ones are: the completeness of the sources, the access to the existing resources and a significant amount of effort. In the case of the Lublin Region the situation is even more difficult as after 1797 there were three types of registers, the Tridentine forms, the Austrian forms and the Napoleonic (Polish) forms. The numbers of registers happened to be different in different sources. The article also presents the current research into vital events in the Lublin Region, where new techniques and methods have been used, such as the inverse projection and the digitalisation of registers kept in parish archives, now accessible to much more researchers.

    The article presents the problem of the elderly in the parish of Kurów for over two centuries. The parish, which dates back to the fifteenth century, had more than 2150 Catholics in 1787.  In the period under study, 6633 people died, in case of 339 no age was given. 1030 dead people were old ones, that is, being 60 years old or more. Initially, the registration of the age of the deceased was unreliable, a marked improvement in that area took place in the 1720s. The author pointed out that the age of the deceased recorded in registers was so-called "declared age", as evidenced by the fact that in many cases the given age ends in 0. The recorded age was rounded to the nearest ten in 60% of cases. An analysis of the seasonality of deaths of the elderly revealed that they died mostly during winter and pre-harvest season.

    The article presents the effects of research conducted in the years 2012-2015 in 60 archives of the Roman Catholic parishes in the Lublin region. Its aim was, among others, to catalogue all the preserved register books whose entries started before December 1900. Similar attempts were made at the beginning of the 20th century, and Henryk Wiercieński was one of the precursors in this field. In the region under investigation, register books were based on three types of forms in the period from the 16th to the 19th centuries. In the Old Polish period, a Tridentine form was used, in the years 1797-1810 – an Austrian form, and from August 1810 onwards – so-called Polish form. An annexe to the following study includes the list of the preserved register books of seven parishes.
    Artykuł prezentuje efekty kwerendy prowadzonej w latach 2012-2015 w 60 archiwach parafii rzymskokatolickich Lubelszczyzny. Jej celem było m.in. skatalogowanie wszystkich zachowanych ksiąg metrykalnych, w których wpisy rozpoczynają się przed grudniem 1900 r. Podobne próby podejmowano już na początku XX w., a do prekursorów w tym zakresie należał Henryk Wiercieński. Na omawianym terenie w okresie od XVI do XIX w. metryki sporządzano według trzech rodzajów formularzy. W okresie staropolskim posługiwano się formularzem trydenckim, w latach 1797-1810 formularzem austriackim, a od sierpnia 1810 r. tzw. formularzem polskim. W aneksie niniejszego studium umieszczono wykaz zachowanych ksiąg metrykalnych 7 parafii. Pozostała część materiałów zostanie opublikowana na łamach kolejnych tomów czasopisma „Archiwa Biblioteki i Muzea Kościelne”.
