    Opis:
    This paper presents a qualitative analysis of a public person’s speech with its language and translation, and the way they can be manipulated to create a public image. As a public person, Lech Wałęsa has been subject to public scrutiny politically and ideologically ever since he became involved in public affairs as a trade union member and activist. Later, as a presidential candidate in the first democratic presidential election in post-communist Poland which he won in 1990, his publicity soared. Consequently, with his popularity came a heavier price of fame; he was subjected to strong criticism, and the way he spoke became a source of jokes and mocking nationwide. Public image is what others receive and read us by. It is an amalgamation of several factors – language being one of the major ones in creating one’s identity.

    Der Beitrag unternimmt den Versuch, die Wissenslücken in Bezug auf die Wurzeln der Schriftstellerin Helga M. Novak zu füllen. Ihre autobiografischen Romane (Die Eisheiligen 1979, Vogel federlos 1982, Im Schwanenhals 2013) schrieb sie, der journalistischen Arbeitsweise gemäß, unter Berücksichtigung eigener Erinnerungen und Gespräche mit Verwandten der Adoptiveltern, von Recherchen auf den Standesämtern in Berlin und Dessau, doch das Gefühl, nirgendwo richtig verwurzelt und willkommen zu sein, schien sie immer zu begleiten. Dieser Beitrag präsentiert die Ergebnisse der nachgetragenen Spurensuche und will das in den Romanen Dargestellte mit Verifizierbarem (Dokumente aus dem Deutschen Literaturarchiv in Marbach, dem Staatsarchiv in Szczecin) vergleichen.
    The paper’s aim is to fill in knowledge gaps concerning the roots of the writer Helga M. Novak. She wrote her autobiographic novels (Die Eisheiligen 1979, Vogel federlos 1982, Im Schwanenhals 2013) according to a journalist’s working method, taking into consideration her own memories, conversations with the relatives of her adoptive parents, research in registry offices in Berlin and Dessau. Yet the feeling of having no proper roots and not really being welcome anywhere always seemed to be present in her life. The paper provides the outcome of an additional search for information and presents the verifiable information (documents of the German Literary Archives in Marbach, of the National Archives in Szczecin) against the background of the information depicted in the novels.

    La plus que mère, La Cérémonie des poupées and La Maison de l’âme, the trilogy of the Belgian writer and ethnologist Chantal Deltenre – published in the first decade of the 21st century, illustrates post-modern religiosity, the main characteristics of which are diversity, syncretism and relativism. The search for sacrum is supposed to be a kind of initiation journey undertaken mostly by lost and uprooted individuals. It is a search for a safe and meaningful space (place), which is not just the opposite of the shapeless and meaningless world of profanum, but also one that allows to build one’s own identity.

    Artykuł wyodrębnia czynniki, jakie wpłynęły na tożsamość powstałej po 1955 roku Bundeswehry. W pierwszej części publikacji opisano pokrótce zmiany zachodzące w środowisku bezpieczeństwa oraz w siłach zbrojnych po okresie Zimnej Wojny, a także zaprezentowano prognozę użycia czynnika militarnego oraz kierunek, w jakim zmieniać się będą siły zbrojne. Przemyślenia te stały się wstępem do refleksji nad wartością struktury militarnej i nad jej tożsamością w XX i XXI wieku. Druga część artykułu rozpoczyna się od przedstawienia bazującego na teorii nauk o organizacji pojęcia kultury organizacyjnej, która kształtuje i wpływa na tożsamość każdej stworzonej przez człowieka organizacji. Punktem wyjściowym zasadniczej części rozważań stał się stworzony na potrzeby artykułu ogólny model czynników kształtujących kulturę organizacyjną sił zbrojnych jako specyficznej organizacji. W odniesieniu do tego modelu, scharakteryzowane zostały następnie wybrane elementy kultury organizacyjnej Bundeswehry. W rezultacie uzyskano względnie zamknięty obraz tożsamości sił zbrojnych RFN w XXI wieku. Przemyślenia te pozwoliły ostatecznie na sformułowanie odpowiedzi na pytania o zmiany tożsamości armii Niemiec w przyszłych latach, wieńczące całe studium.
    The article describes the factors that influenced the identity of the Bundeswehr after its establishment in 1955. The first part of the publication depicts the changes in the international security environment and the armed forces after the Cold War, as well as the forecast of using the military factor and its direction in the future. It is the basis for further reflections about the value of each single military structure and its identity in the 20th and 21st century. The other part of the article covers the concept of organizational culture which influences the organizational identity. The main part of the reflections presents the original model of the factors influencing the organizational culture within the armed forces as a special organization. This model is the basis on which the selected elements of the Bundeswehr organizational culture have been characterized. As a result, the view of the German armed forces identity in the 21st century has been described. According to those reflections, it is possible to answer the questions of the direction of the Bundeswehr identity changes in the years to come.

    This paper is devoted to a detailed analysis of body images, its functions and roles that it plays in the process of searching for identity in the drama Archetype Medea – a Monologue for a Woman Who Sometimes Speaks (2000) by Ivana Sajko. In the current “postmodern climate,” traditional ideas about the human subject — such as the idea of the autonomous and pre-social subject as the source of truth, rationality and identity — have come under heavy pressure. In postmodern discourse the human subject no longer figures as a point from which the universe can be moved. Postmodernism and postdramatic theatre shows us the human subject as a position, as materialized and dynamic construct produced at the intersection of Nature and Culture, in a whole range of discursive practices the meanings of which are a constant site of struggle over power. The attractive literary strategies in Sajko`s play show main directives in the emotional, biological, cultural and social constructions and representations of the embodied female subject that feels, speaks and shows, confirms its tendency towards the (self-)realisation.

    Slam appears as an emergent discursive genre where the expressive function of the language is emphasized. It is at the same time stand of collective expression, forum of the modern city, and place for individual expression. As such, it reflects a double search, for identity and poetry: language and identity are closely linked. Essentially expressive, slam texts are characterized by reflection and that’s why we shall evoke a “mirror language” (langue-miroir). They are also a place where the lexical creativity is stimulated, so that neologisms are frequents: they have to be organized according to “lexicogeniques matrices”, through an analysis which is not only lexical, but also stylistic (with neostyle concept) and functional (with colludique function). Finally, we shall present an example of didactic plan designed to stimulate the lexical creativity for pupils by suggesting them inventing pseudonyms or stage names.
    Espace hybride, le slam apparaît comme un genre discursif émergent où la fonction expressive du langage est mise en relief. Il est à la fois tribune d’expression collective, forum de la cité moderne, et lieu où s’exprime le moi. En tant que tel, il reflète une double quête, identitaire et poétique : langue et identité se trouvent étroitement entrelacées. Fondé sur la recherche d’expressivité, les textes de slam se distinguent aussi par leur réflexivité et c’est en ce sens que nous évoquerons la « langue-miroir » dont ils sont porteurs. Ils sont aussi un lieu où la créativité lexicale est exacerbée, d’où de nombreux néologismes que nous étudierons à la lumière des matrices lexicogéniques, selon une analyse lexicale, mais aussi stylistique (autour de la notion de néostyle) et fonctionnelle (avec la fonction que nous qualifierons de colludique). Enfin, nous présenterons un exemple de dispositif didactique visant à favoriser la créativité lexicale chez des élèves d’école primaire en les mettant en situation de rechercher des pseudonymes (noms de scènes).

    For most of the assimilated Jews, religious reorientation was an alternative to Judaism – increasingly alien to them – and total secularization, and was frequently the only ticket to a career and an improvement of their social status. Only a few of them saw it as a profound religious experience which made them God-fearing, pious Catholics. The biography of Marek Szwarc, a Jewish sculptor, is an interesting material for research regarding his religious conversion. Szwarc, brought up in the spirit of Zionism, initially co-founded the secular culture based on non-religious identity. However, war, civilizational changes, and the crisis of traditional values changed his attitude to religion. This change was reflected in his works created for the expressionist group "Yung-yidish". For Szwarc the introduction of Christian iconography was motivated by the desire to emphasize the universal values associated with the spiritual rebirth of humanity. Even then, he acknowledged the visual “attractiveness” of Christianity, which, combined with expressionist or modernist influences, legitimized artistic progressivism as a manifestation of modern European culture. The turning point in the artist’s career was his baptism on May 1, 1920 in Poznań. This paper is an attempt to examine the circumstances of his conversion, taking into account his biography, its social context, as well as the impact of this decision on his art.
    Zwrot religijny stanowił dla większości asymilujących się Żydów alternatywę wobec coraz bardziej obcego im judaizmu i całkowitej laicyzacji. Był przepustką do kariery i polepszenia społecznego statusu. Tylko dla nielicznych stanowił głęboko religijne doświadczenie, które uczyniło ich pobożnymi praktykującymi katolikami. Biografia żydowskiego rzeźbiarza Marka Szwarca stanowi interesujący materiał do badań nad przyczynami religijnej reorientacji. Wychowany w duchu syjonizmu artysta, początkowo współtworzył świecką kulturę w oparciu o niereligijną tożsamość. Wojna i kryzys tradycyjnych wartości wpłynęły na zmianę jego stosunku do religii, co ujawniło się w grafikach tworzonych dla grupy Jung Idysz. Obok tematów związanych z żydowską tradycją, pojawiły się wówczas wątki chrześcijańskie. Wprowadzenie chrześcijańskiej ikonografii podyktowane było pragnieniem zaakcentowania uniwersalnych wartości związanych z duchowym odrodzeniem ludzkości. Już wtedy dostrzegał wizualną „atrakcyjność” chrześcijaństwa, która w połączeniu z wpływami ekspresjonistycznymi czy modernistycznymi legitymowała artystyczny progresywizm jako przejaw nowoczesnej kultury europejskiej. Punktem zwrotnym w karierze Szwarca był chrzest, 1 maja 1920r. w Poznaniu. Akt ten okazał się brzemienny w skutki ze względu na stosunki rodzinne, towarzyskie, wpłynął też na tematykę dzieł artysty. W początkach lat 20., po osiedleniu się w Paryżu, Szwarc poznał Jacquesa Maritaina, którego filozofia ukierunkowała jego dalszą twórczość. Niniejszy tekst stanowi próbę analizy okoliczności zwrotu religijnego Szwarca z uwzględnieniem jego biografii, historycznego i społecznego kontekstu, a także wpływu, jaki konwersja wywarła na jego sztukę.

    One of the main goals to be achieved by the youth concerns their attempts to form one's own identity. The participation in an ambiguous and ambivalent space of the contemporary reality produces various experiences, in all of which they are tying to find some helpful clues for creating the personal "self". Technological development and an increasing role of the graphic forms of information transmission in the sociocultural life oftentimes contribute to the employment of a generous and easily obtainable selection of motion pictures by the young. Those films tend to draw a spectator into the world of heroes who constantly succeed on the chosen path and continually fulfil their dreams. The main message being transmitted through many films towards the teenage receiver is simple: "you can be whoever you want to be – you just have to believe in yourself and start acting". That maxim makes the film characters' lifestyle highly desired by teenagers; the way of living displayed on the screen quite often becomes a source of their aspirations.

    W czasie Holokaustu zginęła niemal cała populacja polskich Żydów. Ci, którzy ocaleli, stali się więc naturalnymi depozytariuszami pamięci o swoim narodzie i cierpieniach, jakie były jego udziałem. Po zakończeniu II wojny światowej długi czas panowało milczenie na temat Zagłady. Dopiero z czasem ocaleni podjęli próbę zmierzenia się z traumą przeszłości, przepracowania jej za pomocą literatury, a także spisania wspomnień. Również w imieniu ofiar, które nie mogły już tego uczynić. Także ocaleni z Holokaustu polscy Żydzi, tworząc dzieła literackie, stawali się pisarzami, kronikarzami i dokumentalistami. Zapisując losy własne i swoich bliskich dawali świadectwo popełnionych zbrodni, jednocześnie ratując od zapomnienia skrawki zgładzonej przeszłości całego narodu. Imperatyw tworzenia literatury stał się tym samym skarbnicą ich pamięci i tożsamości zachowanej dla przyszłych pokoleń.  
    During the Holocaust nearly the entire population of Polish Jews was exterminated. Those who survived became the likely keepers of their people’s memories and the stories of the suffering they had endured. At the end of World War II, there was a long period of silence about the Holocaust. Only as time passed did the survivors start facing the trauma of their past, through creating literary works and writing down their memoirs; also, on behalf of victims who were no longer able to do that. The Polish Jews who survived Holocaust also, while creating literary stories, were becoming writers, chroniclers and documentarists. By writing down their own stories as well as stories of their loved ones, they gave testimony to the crimes that were committed while rescuing the pieces of their nation’s destroyed past from fading into the oblivion. The imperative to write has become the repository of their memories and their identity being preserved for future generations.

    Artykuł poświęcony został problematyce tożsamości bohaterki opowiadań Jadwigi Maurer (1932-2012). Jest nią żydowska dziewczyna ocalała z zagłady, która po wojnie emigruje do Niemiec, do Monachium. Szczegółowa analiza kolejnych tekstów układających się w swoiste cykle ujawnia, że na płaszczyźnie tożsamościowej warunkiem i jednocześnie skutkiem ocalenia od śmierci było źródłowe doświadczenie wygnania. Doświadczenie to po wojnie stało się dla bohaterki prozy Maurer swoistą matrycą poznawczą porządkującą jej ogląd rzeczywistości, a także wyznaczającą aksjologiczne ramy egzystencjalnych wyborów.   
    The article is devoted to the problem of the identity of the main character of Jadwiga Maurer’s stories. She is a Jewish girl survivor of the Holocaust who emigrates to Munich, Germany, after the war. Detailed analyses of Maurer’s short stories, arranged in a kind of cycles, reveal that at the identity level, Holocaust rescue was linked to the source experience of exile. The experience of exile after the war became for the main character of Maurer’s prose a kind of cognitive matrix organizing her experience of reality, as well as setting the axiological framework of existential choices.

    This article attempts to address the specificities of the Silesia on the example of selected poems by contemporary female and male authors who feel connected to this corner in the center of Europe and searching for their own identity. The research methodology revolves around biographical threads related to the turbulent history of Silesia, which has shaped the destiny of these writers. The national aspects of Silesia’s historical past are reflected in the subject matter of the lyrical works presented. At the same time, the regional perspective is broken by themes and threads relating to poetic reflections on human existence. It should be emphasized that the poems presented hardly belong to the highest category of fiction. These works show how a particular region with its volatile and often tragic history inspires artistically sensitive individual and enables them to experience the aesthetics captured in poetic images.

    At the crossroads of philosophy, religion and literature arises the question of meaning. The feeling of absurdity of the world and the loss of the meaning of life, accompanied by a desperate attempt to (re)create it, are typical for people stigmatized by borderline experiences of collective traumas, such as war. As a combatant of the Second World War and a great admirer of Marcel Proust, Claude Simon undertakes a tireless search for lost meaning, which emerges discreetly behind the pessimism with which he describes the absurdity of the world. A close reading of his most famous novel, La Route des Flandres (1960), reveals to us some subtle indications about this quest for meaning, which becomes also a quest for identity.

    Opis:
    The literary texts of young German-speaking writers of Polish origin are examined in detail. The aim of the analysis is to answer the questions of how the selected authors treat the search for identity in the selected literary works., the role of the influence of ’old‘ and ’new‘ culture on the identity formation of migrants and the resulting consequences. The subject of the investigation are the novels Katzenberge (2010) by Sabrina Janesch; Sitzen vier Polen im Auto: Teutonische Abenteuer (2012) by Alexandra Tobor; and Die vielen Tode unseres Opas Jurek von Matthias Nawrat (2015).
    In dem Artikel werden literarische Texte junger deutschsprachiger Schriftsteller polnischer Herkunft näher betrachtet. Ziel der Analyse ist die Beantwortung der Frage, wie in den ausgewählten literarischen Werken die Suche nach der eigenen Identität, die Rolle des Einflusses der „alten“ und „neuen“ Kultur auf die Identitätsbildung der Migranten sowie die daraus resultierenden Konsequenzen literarisch behandelt werden. Den Gegenstand der Untersuchung bilden die Romane Katzenberge (2010) von Sabrina Janesch, Sitzen vier Polen im Auto: Teutonische Abenteuer (2012) von Alexandra Tobor und Die vielen Tode unseres Opas Jurek von Matthias Nawrat (2015).
    Celem analiz jest próba odpowiedzi na pytanie, w jaki sposób w wybranych utworach literackich autorstwa młodych niemieckojęzycznych pisarek i pisarzy polskiego pochodzenia ukazywane jest poszukiwanie własnej tożsamości, rola oddziaływania „starej” i „nowej” kultury w procesie kształtowania się tożsamości migranta i wynikające z tego konsekwencje. Przedmiotem analizy są następujące powieści: Katzenberge (2010) Sabriny Janesch, Sitzen vier Polen im Auto: Teutonische Abenteuer (2012) Alexandry Tobor oraz Die vielen Tode unseres Opas Jurek / Wszystkie śmierci dziadka Jurka (2015) Matthiasa Nawrata.
