Hereby article can be perceived as an attempt to analyze the consequences of pandemics for the society in general and education in particular. It gives an overview of pandemics throughout centuries with special emphasis on education, schools and universities. Attention has been drawn onto the measures having been taken to mitigate the negative consequences pandemics brought about. Special consideration has been devoted to current situation in Poland with the emphasis on negative effects and deep analysis of the reasons which caused chaos and deficiencies in actions undertaken by the authorities, has been put forward. Authors focus on the individual approach of both teachers and students towards distant learning, Reasons and potential consequences of the failure of on-line education. In this article, the authors argue that epidemics are pushing education sideways. The quality of education decreases and the desire to acquire knowledge decreases. The main goal of the article was to show the education process in the past and present under pandemic conditions. The authors made an attempt to show what can be kept in the education process and what must be abandoned. The discussions in this text show education as a victim of a pandemic, about this problem relatively little is said, although value of the education in the development of civilization is unquestionable.

Teaching refugee students in inclusive classrooms is challenging for Polish teachers as the number of these students in schools has dramatically increased. This research aimed to explore Polish teachers’ experiences with adapting their teaching process for these students. An Interpretive Phenomenological Analysis was used, and 30 teachers participated in six focus group interviews. Two themes were identified in the analysis: 1) collaboration with others, 2) essential elements of direct work with students: communication; didactic aids; teaching methods; learning content; and learning objectives. Several recommendations for teaching practice are made.

Even though the challenges that Queer* employees face in the workplace because of their intersecting identities of gender, sexuality, race, and class continue to be one of the rarely studied topics in social sciences, there has been a resurgence of interest in recent years, concerning how Queer* teachers experience the conflation of their sexual and professional identities. Informed by the recognition that schools are one of the most representative prototypes of gendered organizations with their ever-adapting regimes of inequality, this study is motivated by the question of how Queer* teachers in İstanbul deal with the enduring institutionalized homophobia, which has only got worse in terms of its silencing and pathologizing mechanisms. Claiming one of the fundamental functions of schools to establish strictly heteronormative spaces of learning, where any form of gender nonconformity or sexual dissidence stands before disciplinary punishment or reprimand from other students and teachers, I have examined the current working conditions of Queer* teachers in İstanbul within the contexts of schools, which compel Queer* teachers to abide by their institutionalized rules and norms of compulsory heterosexuality. This study attempts to learn what kind of experiences Queer* teachers in İstanbul articulate regarding the conundrum of being forced into presenting themselves as non-sexualized and non-gendered professional figures, as neoliberal policies and capitalist expectations of a rigid separation between professional identities and personal lives of workers continue to negatively affect the occupational well-being of Queer* teachers. A careful analysis of the interviews has revealed that the Queer* teachers in İstanbul are burdened with the aesthetic labor they are constantly expected to perform due to the emergent neoliberal schemes of professionalism and that they suffer under closely monitoring mechanisms of heteronormative school policies and work climates.

Do badań wybrano szczególną grupę – studentów pedagogiki przedszkolnej i wczesnoszkolnej.
Contemporary social and cultural changes influenced transformations in many spheres of life, which are especially visible among young generation. Nowadays, it is more often emphasized in popular publications, that contemporary young people are characterized by consumerism, materialism and moral nihilism. Therefore, the aim of this research was to verify the system of values of young people, namely students of pre-school and early school education. This choice seems to be particularly important, as the respondents will soon have an educational impact on children. Therefore, the process of introducing children to the world of values depends on students’ axiological condition.

Przegląd standardów i namysł nad zawartymi w nich zmianami w zakresie informatycznego i metodycznego kształcenia nauczycieli rzuca nowe światło na zawartą w tytule opracowania kwestię potrzeby systemowego kształcenia do edukacji zdalnej.
The purpose of the article is to trigger critical reflection on the importance of the problem of preparing teachers to make use of the new information and communication technologies and remote education for the modernization of the educational process and bringing the school closer to the digital reality of the 21st century. As evidenced by numerous studies, the necessity of distance learning during the pandemic has exposed the unsatisfactory level of IT and methodical competence of teachers in this area. In the first part of the article, an attempt was made to synthesize the results of nationwide research, conducted during the pandemic by leading academic centres, which concern the assessment of the teachers’ competencies in the use of ICT in education before the pandemic and the dynamics of their development during the remote education. In the following part of the article, in the context of the emerging diagnosis of the preparation of teachers for distance education, an analysis of the standards of teacher education in force in the last 20 years is conducted. The review of the standards and reflection on the changes contained in them in the field of information and methodical teacher education sheds new light on the issue contained in the title of the need for systemic training for remote education.

Opis:
During the political changes in Vilnius County, i.e. in the territory of the Second Polish Republic (1922–1926) with the capital in Vilnius, after 1914 the Polish society hoped for full acceptance of educational institutions, operating illegally before the outbreak of WWI. Despite significant difficulties created by the German occupier, Polish education – both general and secondary – was organized. It was mean feat primarily due to the lack of teachers. In the early 20th century, two schools preparing for the teaching profession operated in Vilnius: the Nazareth Sisters and an institution organized by Agata Karpowiczówna. Recognizing the need to educate teachers, a school for women named after Queen Jadwiga was founded in 1916, and soon afterwards the Education Committee established five more schools. Meanwhile, junior and senior high schools were also established in Vilnius. On the basis of archival research carried out by the authors of the article in the Lithuanian State Historical Archive in Vilnius, numerous applications and biographies of candidates for educators, primarily in the Vilnius area, were collected and presented. This documentation is diverse as it consists of surveys regarding personal data and the course of work, applications handwritten by the candidates, opinions of former superiors but also correspondence on the basis of which. the candidate’s studies and work can be reconstructed. The above-mentioned documentation comes from 1919–1923 i.e. a period of slow stabilization of education in the area in question.

The idea of sustainable development in the world has a large number of supporters who genuinely believe its ideology most promising of this century and, perhaps, the whole of the third millennium. They are convinced that the process of deepening scientific validity, sustainable development strategy to gradually replace other philosophical ideology, which, in their opinion, is fragmented and unable to ensure a balanced development of civilization. And over time, sustainable development will be the only acceptable alternative to overcome all the other global threats facing humanity. So when decade of UN education for sustainable development is completing, our country and, above all, the scientific elite, critically need to start reforming the education and research sector to sustainable development, using as one of the options – a system of postgraduate education as part of lifelong learning.
