Opis:
Criticism of traditional school contributed to the creation of different directions and concepts in education. The creation of new concepts in pedagogy was a reaction to the idea of Herbart which places the child in the background in the teaching process. The main demands of new schools should take into account the individuality and interests of students and their multilateral education. The pedagogy of the end of the nineteenth century there were individualistic directions of education promoting progressive school. This paper presents selected concepts of raising a child in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. The study analyzes the effects of education according to the concept Celestine Freinet and Peter Petersen. Also it shows the advantages of the concept of dalton education.

Opis:
The aim of this article is to bring the reader closer, in a synthetic way, to the legal realities in which children had to work in the eighteenth century in Europe. The analysis applies in particular to the private law shaping the relationship between parents and children. The first issue taken into account was the varied situation of children of married and unmarried couples because of the fact that children born out of wedlock lived outside the family and had no personal rights and property such as were due to the child born in a marriage. A considerable part of the publication is devoted to the rights resulting from parental authority over a child, which directly shaped his position in the family and in society. The emphasis was put on a particularly strong position in order to stress the father as a head of the family. The rules prevailing at that time relating to the upbringing of children and their education were illustrated, taking into account the different situation of sons and daughters. Important issues were presented relating to the entering into marriage by adolescent children, and their financial situation. Also mentioned briefly were legal sanctions threatened for abuse by children of parents, as well as parents for abandoning or killing a child. In the final part of the article legal regulations of eighteenth-century Europe are quoted. The enforcement of these regulations foreshadowed a change in legal concepts of the child and the treatment of children within a legal system.

The purpose of this article is to show the need for television competence development in various forms of home education. There are numerous definitions of education. They are dependent on the concept of who human beings are and what their place in the world is as well as on the conditions of their existence, on what the communities expect of their members, and on what the society expects of an individual. The educational act carried out as part of the process of education can be defined as the actions aimed at altering the behavior of an individual at a particular point in time and in a particular situation. Within the family, bringing up a happy child is the purpose of all educational acts. Contemporary studies on childhood suggest that a happy childhood constitutes a stable foundation allowing for a positive functioning in society. It also increases the chances of adults to maintain the balance in which they were brought up.

Safety is one of the basic psychological needs, and at the same time, a state that gives a sense of confidence and a guarantee of its preservation and a chance for self-improvement. This is a situation characterized by the lack of risk of losing something that is particularly important for a person. The Institute for the Deaf-mute in Warsaw, established in 1817 by Father Jakub Falkowski, is commonly considered to be the firstschool for deaf-mute children in Poland. However, similar actions had been taken three times earlier: in 1803 in Romanow, Volhynia, in 1804 in Vilnius, and in 1809 in Warsaw. Unfortunately, those activities did not generate the expected effects. The article recalls those unsuccessful attempts of establishing the first schools for deaf children

Opis:
This article discusses how the use of manipulation in education can be ethically justified under certain conditions. An argument is made that the ethical evaluation of manipulation depends firstly on the definition of the concepts of education and manipulation, and secondly, on the level on which the manipulation takes place, that is, on the aims and reasons for why it is used. It is also suggested that the ethical evaluation should refer to education as a global process, which starts in early childhood and ends in early adulthood, rather than to particular stages of education. The observations made in this article allow, to a certain extent, to answer to the accusation that manipulating the children in their own interest is ethically suspicious.

Business, economy and finance are very popular subject-matters in the contemporary world. This is why it is important to introduce them, step by step, from an early age. “Pocket money”, as well as allowing a child to be involved in the family’s financial affairs, seems to be necessary for preparing children to develop their management skills which will be useful in their future, adult life. A child ought to know the value of money and possess some ability to apply it. Children gain such rudimentary knowledge on the basis of interaction with the social environment and everyday experience, through participating in economic exchange purchase-sale, witnessing the withdrawal of money from a cash machine by relatives, using the post office, etc. However, it is a teacher’s duty to help children increase and systematize this knowledge in a process of early childhood education. The skills gained by children during the schooling will help them in the future. They will become responsible participants in economic life, making both rational choices and decisions which will affect positively their chance to gain success in personal and professional life.

Technology influences a person’s attitudes, values, mental and physical health, behavior, and lifestyle. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to the technical education of students from the beginning of school attendance. The European Union countries (hereinafter the EU) pay great attention to technical education. They base their curricula on the Council of Europe's recommendation (2006), which set out the main strategic goal: to create curricula that make the EU dynamic and competitive in the world. Therefore, from the point of view of technical education, it was necessary to: increase students' interest in studying science and technology, develop their scientific and technical competencies, ensure access to information and communication technologies for all students, improve teacher training for science and technology education, and strengthen the link between the world of work and research (Kozík et al., 2013 Dostál, 2015; Dostál & Prachagool, 2016). For this reason, the authors M. Kožuchová and M. Kuruc created a monograph focused on the preparation of students for teaching the subject of technical education.

The article addresses the problem of the right to education of children placed in foster care homes. In order to examine how the child’s right to education is implemented in pedagogical practice, research was carried out in one of the educational care center in the Lublin province. The purpose of this research was to determine the degree of implementation of this right in foster care institutions, as well as the scope of individual assistance supporting the child’s education. The research was aimed at searching the answers to the following research problems: What forms of educational influence on juveniles were undertaken in foster care home? What forms of vocational training were usually chosen by the pupils? What forms of support did the institution of foster care provide to the pupils in order to help them to choose their future education? How did the teaching staff support the pupils in achieving their school success? What actions stimulating the intellectual development of the pupils were undertaken in the above institution? What forms of therapy were available to the pupils in the examined period? The research was carried out with the use of the diagnostic survey method as well as the techniques of documents examination and questionnaire. Research shows that young people in upper secondary school most often chose vocational schools, high schools and technical schools, and only a small group of juveniles continued their education in post-secondary schools (3.22%) and universities (3.22%). Education was supported by specialized classes dedicated to flattening didactic deficiencies and eliminating developmental deficits. The research shows the need for further professionalization of care, upbringing and therapeutic interactions with orphaned children placed in foster care institutions.
Artykuł podejmuje problem prawa do edukacji dzieci umieszczonych w instytucjach pieczy zastępczej. Aby określić, jak prawo dziecka do nauki jest realizowane w praktyce pedagogicznej, przeprowadzono badania w jednej z placówek opiekuńczo-wychowawczych typu socjalizacyjnego w województwie lubelskim. Celem tych badań było ustalenie stopnia realizacji tego prawa w instytucjonalnej formie opieki, jak również zakresu indywidualnej pomocy wspierającej przebieg edukacji dziecka. W toku badań poszukiwano odpowiedzi na następujące problemy badawcze: Jakie formy oddziaływań edukacyjnych wobec wychowanków podejmowane były w instytucji pieczy zastępczej? Jakie formy kształcenia zawodowego podejmowali wychowankowie? Jakie formy pomocy wychowankom w wyborze kierunku kształcenia zapewniała placówka? W jaki sposób kadra pedagogiczna pomagała wychowankom w osiągnięciu przez nich powodzenia szkolnego? Jakie działania na rzecz stymulowania rozwoju intelektualnego wychowanków były podejmowane w placówce? Z jakich form terapii korzystali w badanym okresie wychowankowie? W badaniach wykorzystano metodę sondażu diagnostycznego oraz techniki badania dokumentów i ankiety. Z badań wynika, że młodzież w wieku ponadgimnazjalnym wybierała najczęściej szkoły zawodowe, licea i technika, a tylko mała grupa wychowanków kontynuowała naukę w szkołach policealnych (3,22%) i na studiach wyższych (3,22%). Nauka dzieci była wspierana przez specjalistyczne zajęcia poświęcone wyrównywaniu braków dydaktycznych i niwelowaniu deficytów rozwojowych. Z przeprowadzonych badań wynika potrzeba dalszej profesjonalizacji oddziaływań opiekuńczo-wychowawczych i terapeutycznych wobec dzieci osieroconych umieszczanych w instytucjach pieczy zastępczej.

Aim: A child in the history of salvation. Methods: A historical comparative method. Results: Firstly, the child’s situation in the New Testament was demonstrated followed by the view of a young man in the Church Tradition. A lot of place has been given to a child in the extremely hard time of the totalitarian systems of the 20th century.
