    The Word of God is the foundation that enables a young man to establish a deep bond with Christ while following the path of priestly formation. Daily prayer based on profound meditation on God’s word (lectio divina) helps a seminarian become rooted deeply in the Holy Scripture and to truly encounter Jesus in the books of the Gospel. The student also needs intellectual formation based on Holy Scripture in order to understand more the secrets of the Holy Scripture more profoundly and preach them in his ministry as reader.

    The aim of the article is to indicate that there is quite strong support in the text of the Nicomachean Ethics for the argument that its inquiry is “political” rather than “ethical” in character – the textual evidence provides reasons to challenge the traditional belief that Aristotle separated ethics from politics and started the rise of ethics as a new branch of philosophy. In addition, one can posit a hypothesis (and this has already been done) that the reader, whom Aristotle had in mind while writing what we now know as the Ethics, was a politician-lawgiver (and not just any educated Greek or – which is even less probable – any human being). So the reader aimed at in the Ethics is the same as the reader aimed at in the Politics – a politician-lawgiver. The Ethics and the Politics are a two-part but inseparable compound that together make a textbook for a politician-lawgiver. Both parts should be read together because the one cannot be understood correctly (i.e. as closely as possible to the intentions of their author) without the other. Aristotle studies human good not from the point of view of the individual but from the point of view of the human community. The highest human good – the philosopher’s eudaimonia – is achieved not by individual effort (or not fundamentally by that) but as a result of good laws and a well-organized life in a polis.

    Opis:
    The paper presents the results of research on children’s metaphorical predispositions, i.e. the ability to understand, recognize and create metaphors. The research was carried out among children aged 6–9 during reading workshops as part of the 5 Coupons of Culture of the Małopolska Region, acquired by the author. The material is an attempt to indicate the value of literary metaphors in the education, therapy and upbringing of children. The literary metaphors used during the research have created planes that enable individual reading of the meaning of the text. In understanding the meanings of metaphors, the context of their use also played an important role. “Load-bearing” provided the texts with simple and legible metaphors, while at the same time appealing to young audiences. Thanks to metaphors, the world created in reading became universal, but young readers related it to personal experiences, discovering the convergence between their own lives and the creation of a work. It is worthwhile extracting and using the didactic and therapeutic dimension of metaphors in working with children and treat it as an important factor supporting the teaching process.
    Artykuł prezentuje wyniki badań dziecięcych predyspozycji metaforyzacyjnych, czyli zdolności rozumienia, rozpoznawania i tworzenia metafor. Badania zostały przeprowadzone wśród dzieci w wieku 6–9 lat podczas realizacji warsztatów czytelniczych w ramach pozyskanych przez autorkę pięciu Bonów Kultury Województwa Małopolskiego. Materiał stanowi próbę wskazania wartości metafor literackich w edukacji, terapii i wychowaniu dzieci. Zastosowane podczas badań metafory literackie stworzyły warunki umożliwiające indywidualne odczytywanie sensu tekstu. W rozumieniu znaczeń metafor dużą rolę odegrał także kontekst ich użycia. „Nośność” zapewniły tekstom metafory proste i czytelne, a jednocześnie trafiające w zainteresowania młodych odbiorców. Dzięki metaforom świat wykreowany w lekturze stawał się uniwersalny, ale młodzi czytelnicy odnosili go do osobistych doświadczeń, odkrywali zbieżność między własnym życiem a kreacją utworu. Warto wydobywać i wykorzystywać w pracy z dziećmi dydaktyczny i terapeutyczny wymiar metafor, a także traktować go jako ważny czynnik wspomagający proces nauczania.

    In Ann Radcliffe’s novel entitled The Mysteries of Udolpho, the theme of the library turns out to be far more important than one would ever suspect, as positive or negative attitudes to books betray the personal qualities of particular characters. The kind and generous Monsieur St. Aubert and his daughter Emily, for example, are extremely fond of books, whereas the evil and primitive Signor Montoni, who owns a huge castle, has not seen fit to provide it with a library. The significance of this theme also reveals the author’s own views on libraries and their role in people’s lives. Ann Radcliffe saw the library as the heart of any home. Her novel shows that she was not only an eminent author, but also an avid reader and a passionate bibliophile.

    W artykule przedstawiono działania edukacyjne dla różnych grup użytkowników prowadzone przez Miejską Bibliotekę Publiczną w Opolu. Scharakteryzowano przykładowe zajęcia dla młodzieży, seniorów. Omówiono spotkania warsztatowe dla nauczycieli i bibliotekarzy pomagające w zdobywaniu i wykorzystywaniu legalnych internetowych źródeł wiedzy. Zaprezentowano przydatne strony internetowe, portale ułatwiające docieranie do rzetelnych informacji. Przedstawiono programy oraz aplikacje umożliwiające wzbogacenie zajęć organizowanych przez bibliotekarzy i nauczycieli. Przedstawiono przenikanie się tych działań bibliotecznych przydatnych w zdobywaniu wiedzy i umiejętności informacyjnych.
