The social market economy requires multifaceted care to preserve its essence (standard) and the appropriate balance between ‘marketisation’ and ‘socialisation’. This should be fostered by defining the content of the ‘public interest’ clause, and the social interest in particular, when determining all circumstances related to the functioning of the social market economy because it is in the public (social) interest for the market economy to be linked to social needs. The public (social) interest is at the same time the premise for the formation and development of what is to be regarded as the ‘social economy’. The same interest requires that the created social economy should be supported by providing it with the assistance of both a subjective and functional nature.

Each enlargement of the European Communities (EC) and later the European Union (EU) has had an indisputable in! uence on inner cohesion of the organization itself. The participants of the integration processes have included the countries deviating from the previous Member States by the level of the economic development, the structures of their economies, macroeconomic conditions, etc. This differentiation has taken its toll especially on the functioning and the expenses of common policies (mainly transfer ones) as well as the execution of the integration reinforcement plans such as the European Economic and Monetary Union. In this aspect the most serious consequences were caused by the admission of countries that were much weaker economically, especially Ireland, Greece, Spain and Portugal. These countries had to go through a long way of reforms in order to become rightful members of the organization and for their integration with the Communities to become a mutual success. A big part of the expenses connected with these reforms was financed by the common budget thanks to the structural funds and the Common Agricultural Policy.

Opis:
The irresponsible attitude of mankind to the use of natural resources led to a violation of the ecological balance and encouraged socially responsible members of society to unite in various parties and movements. Recognition of ecology as the basic paradigm of society's existence prompted manufacturers to introduce new principles of both business management and interaction with consumers. Fashion for conscious consumption encourages the use of energy-saving technologies, reduction of emissions and substances harmful to the soil in agricultural production, use of raw materials and materials of non-animal origin, etc. Under such conditions, the integration of economy and ecology was determined, the basis of which was the implementation of economic processes with minimal impact on the natural environment. The resource-based type of economy, characteristic of economically underdeveloped countries, serves as the basis of aggressive state policy, contributes to the imbalance not only of the national, but also of the world economy, and is destructive from the point of view of the future development of mankind. The agricultural sector of the economy is not only considered one of the most promising, but also belongs to a number of ecologically dangerous industries. This is due to the wide use of various environmentally hazardous chemicals in the process of agricultural production; use of complex agricultural machinery, as well as fuel and lubricants. An alternative to environmentally harmful agricultural production is ecological (organic) farming, in which the use of synthetic combined fertilizers, pesticides, growth regulators, and food additives for animal feed is prohibited or largely limited. The guiding principle for organic farming is the use of materials and technologies that improve the ecological balance in natural systems and contribute to the creation of sustainable and balanced agroecosystems. Animal husbandry, as a source of greenhouse gases, also has a negative impact on the environment. Eco-activists call for abandoning animal food and replacing animal proteins with vegetable ones. To improve the ecological balance, agricultural production should use the minimum amount of external resources, close nutrient cycles, reduce negative emissions into the external environment in the form of waste and greenhouse gas emissions, and also process or use agricultural waste.

It is often assumed in business ethics publications that a business activity is a kind of a profession, and that is why business ethics is treated as the professional ethics. However, such an approach does not seem well-founded because the notion of business does not mean only one, possible to define precisely, kind of activity. One could admittedly recognize that business ethics is the ethics of a businessman; that is, a person being the owner of the enterprise and managing it. However, presenting the issue in such a way, would exclude the activity of these enterprises which do not have a sole proprietor(e.g. state-owned enterprises and joint-stock companies) from the competence of business ethics.

Opis:
Green Economy is often seen as a remedy to the largely failed efforts of sustainable development. This paper unpacks and discusses the ambiguities of strategies towards a Green Economy in order to encourage reflection about its potential unintended and undesired outcomes. It juxtaposes current arguments in favour of Green Economy with real economic, political and cultural developments. Three arguments receive special attention: first, the proposition that the Green Economy reformulates the failed or at least insufficient strategies of sustainable development; second, the assumption that “economy” and “ecology” can now be reconciled; and third, the assumed positive effects of greening of the economy for countries in the Global South and their fight against poverty. The paper argues that the Green Economy can turn out to be a false promise.

The importance of agriculture in the Russian economy is relatively small, which is a characteristic feature of developed economies (about 4% of GDP). However, agriculture represents a significant share in the structure of the employed – 9.2%. The use of agriculture as self-sufficiency food has become essential after the embargo imposed on imported products. Russia as a country has a large area of land. The surface of used agricultural land after a fall in the nineties has stabilised at a level of 800 thous. km2. At the same time intensified agricultural production has resulted in increased performance and larger crops. Due to the progression of technology there is an opportunity for the development of agriculture in Russia.

The current stage of economic development throughout the world and a specific country is charac- terized by unprecedented instability and volatility of all markets. This general trend leads to the fact that the problem of managing economic risks is becoming one of the highest priorities. The number of entities is growing, whose activities are not only subject to risks, but which are systematically appro- aching risk management on the basis of new technologies, methods, approaches, and the use of mo- dern instrumental base. In the face of frequent global financial crises and permanent macroeconomic instability, the need for conceptualization of risk assessment and the formation of an economic risk management system is greatly enhanced. Thus, the relevance of the topic is beyond doubt.

The coronavirus pandemic has accelerated the course of change. Examples of rapid changes in some industries include remote working, the increased popularity of restaurant food delivery services, greater industry consolidation, moving supply chains back to national markets. Therefore, in order to maintain economic security, companies should quickly implement adaptive forms related to logistics management, available resources, or in relation to key strategic business areas. The time is coming for innovative companies which, thinking in a forward-looking, and also unconventional way, will conduct their business because only companies which will see the new trend related to the redefinition of existing business models in time can win against the competition. The following article shows the cause-and-effect relationship between the impact of the Covid19 pandemic on economic security and the prospects and challenges facing businesses today.

Both electronic and printed media, in addition to various functions that they serve, as mentioned in the previous chapters, are also companies that should be profitable. Although it is often argued that media are primarily companies and so, therefore, all the functions that they perform should be subordinate to some business objectives1, this opinion seems too unilateral, as evidenced by, among others, ethical codes approved also by commercial media. And even if we had to agree with the above proposition in relation to commercial media, then again we have public media (and other non-commercial media) in relation to which the claim of absolute profit primacy does not apply. It is worth pointing out, first and foremost, that according to a popular belief, economic dependence of media (from advertisers, corporations also operating in other than media markets, and finally politicians deciding on the allocation of funds to public media) connotes limiting their independence. This belief does not appear to be justified. Financial success here does not always mean limiting one’s independence by subordinating media content to the ‘demands’ of the recipient. Financially stable media (or rather publishers and media owners) are generally much more resistant to the pressure from politicians, thus maintaining a greater degree of independence than media with weaker financial backing (e.g.: local media). The very advertising revenue, though undoubtedly it may entail the risk of limiting media independence, can actually become a weapon in the fight against other types of threats to this independence, such as the pressure exerted by the politicians at various levels or the vulnerability of some journalists to corruption, etc.
