Opis:: Polish emigration in France was almost exclusively represented by the Polish workers who were Roman Catholic most of the cases, and in vast majority attached to the Church – which was highlighted in a personal letter written by the Ambassador of Poland in Paris. Recognizing political influences and communities in which fellow countrymen worked, the Ambassador tried to remedy the status quo by the letter addressed to Cardinal A. Hlond. According to the letter, the work performed reasonably and sensibly by the Polish clergymen had a crucial impact upon the Polish emigration. Transmitting the related compiled dossier to the Primate, he judged the performance of the Polish pastoral care in France to the extent of opportunities and negligence in respect of the Church and Homeland before 1926.

Opis:: Na przestrzeni historii polskiego narodu to, co polskie, pokrywało się z tym, co chrześcijańskie. Kościół w Polsce nie istniał poza Narodem, ale w nim. Był zawsze duszą Narodu w okresach jego świetności, a zwłaszcza w okresach klęsk politycznych, kiedy wartości religijne stawały się głównym czynnikiem przetrwania. Na tworzenie społeczeństwa obywatelskiego miały, według biskupów, wpływ trzy instytucje: rodzina, Kościół i państwo. Analiza tekstów wypowiedzi dotyczących nauczania Episkopatu Polski wskazuje również na czynniki, które w swoich działaniach prowadziły do obniżenia inicjatywy obywatelskiej bądź do jej całkowitego unicestwienia. Są to: straty materiale i upadek moralności na skutek działań wojennych, nieuczciwość, nienawiść, strach, zniewolenie, brak społecznej jedności.
Throughout the history of the Polish nation, everything that was Polish, also meant Christian. The Church in Poland didn't exist outside the Nation, It was in the Nation. It was the soul of the Nation in the times of its greatness and, even more so, during the times of political failure, when the Christian values were the factors of survival. According to the Bishops, there were three institutions that influenced the creation of the civic society, namely: family, Church and state. The analysis of the texts of the letters concerning the teachings of the Polish Episcopate indicates the factors that led to the reduction of the civic initiative or, even, its complete annihilation. The factors are: material losses, a decline in morality as a result of war, dishonesty, hatred, fear, enslavement, lack of social integrity.

Opis:: The publication focuses on the fragment of the inventory of the archival fonds no1: Provincial Office in Lviv, the description no 14: the department of religious denominations from the collections of the State Archive of the Lviv region in Lviv. The archival inventory was described in 1972 in the Russian language by the Soviet archivists in accordance with the principles of the archives in the USSR. The following edition contains the selected archival units which contain sources concerning the activities of the Roman Catholic Church and the Armenian Catholic Church. In terms of the territorial range in the aspect of the state administration, the materials refer to the region of Lviv, Tarnopol and Stanisławów. In terms of the Roman Catholic Church administration, they cover the area of the Archdiocese of Lviv, the Diocese of Przemyśl and Tarnów. In the case of the Armenian Catholic Church, they refer to the Armenian Archdiocese with the seat in Lviv. Archival materials forming the description no 14 were produced by the offices of the state administration at various levels and ecclesiastical offices: the diocesan curia, the cathedral chapter, parish offices and theological seminaries, the representatives of the clergy and laity. The discussed archival units include the following materials: sources for the erection and the administrative division of the parish; grants for the renovation and construction works and the equipment of the church; the financial and economic documentation; materials referring to the land and property of the Church, the repayment of taxes, leasing; the records relating to the diocesan clergy, among others, nominations for the parish priests and the payment of wages and subsidies; the archival materials concerning theological seminaries, the diocesan curia, cathedral chapters; the documents on the activities of the Provincial Office and the Religious Fund, among others, reports on the distribution of funds allocated by the authorities to the Church; as well as sources on the territorial organization of the Church and documentation (mainly financial and economic) on the activity of male and female religious congregations.

Opis:: The paper discusses the linguistic and sociological base of Old Belarusian/Old Ukrainian (West Ruthenian), which was spoken in the Belarusian and Ukrainian territories of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. In the sixteenth century the local szlachta (nobility/gentry) spoke Ruthenian (Russian), which was increasingly influenced by Polish, which was its characteristic feature. The study has distinguished and discussed sixteen phonetic, morphological and syntactic specificities that cannot be derived from local dialects or they occur in them sporadically and inconsistently nowadays. However, in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries they were commonly found in writings in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania regardless of their genre and origin. The paper also criticizes the former position of scholars who sought dialectal features only in old writings whereas, owing to historical circumstances, these were reflected first of all in the speech of szlachta and clergy socially close to the nobility
Artykuł poświęcono omówieniu podstawy językowo-socjologicznej języka zachodnioruskiego, który był używany na ziemiach białoruskich i ukraińskich Wielkiego Księstwa Litewskiego (WKL). W XVI wieku miejscowa szlachta porozumiewała się językiem ruskim, który ulegał coraz większym wpływom polskim, co stanowiło o jego specyfice. W opracowaniu wyodrębniono i omówiono 16 osobliwości fonetycznych, morfologicznych i syntaktycznych, które nie dadzą się wyprowadzić z miejscowych dialektów lub występują w nich współcześnie sporadycznie i niekonsekwentnie. Wcześniej jednak (XVI–XVII wiek) były powszechnie notowane w piśmiennictwie WKL, niezależnie od gatunku i pochodzenia.
У артыкуле абмяркоўваюцца маўленчая аснова і сацыяльная базa супольнай кніжнапісьмовай мовы на Беларусі і Украіне ў XVI cт. У гэты перыяд шляхецкае маўленне было прасякнута польскім уплывам, што і складае галоўную адметнасць ды спецыфіку гэтага маўлення. У даследавнні выдзяляюцца і каментуюцца 16 фанетычных, марфалагічных і сінтаксічных асаблівасцяў. Гэта, перш за ўсё, тыя асаблівасці, якія немагчыма вывесці з дыялектнай мовы, або якія вузка або непаслядоўна прадстаўленыя ў дыялектах ў цяперашні час, аднак раней былі шырока распаўсюджаныя ў друкаваных выданнях, незалежна ад іх жанру або паходжання.

Opis:: W artykule poddano analizie wspomnienia pielgrzymów przybywających do sanktuariów maryjnych w Skrzatuszu i Rokitnie oraz do byłej Wolnej Prałatury Pilskiej w latach 1983–2013 i drukowanych w tym czasie w czasopiśmie katolików prałatury Johannesbote. Do całości obrazu świadectw pielgrzymowania należą nie tylko osobiste, wewnętrzne, religijne przeżycia. Są one bardzo mocno związane z bolesną przeszłością wojenną i skomplikowanymi relacjami polsko-niemieckimi. Ważną rolę w kształtowaniu postaw katolików niemieckich nie tylko w wierze, ale i w relacjach z Polakami, w przepracowaniu ciężaru historii, odgrywają duchowni. Konkretne postaci biskupów i kapłanów to również wypędzeni dzielący los swoich wiernych do końca ich życia. Są to świadectwa wdzięczności katolików za życie wiary, sakramenty i pomoc w budowaniu nowej tożsamości w powojennej historii.
The article analyzes the memories of pilgrims coming to the Marian shrines in Skrzatusz and Rokitno and to the former Free Prelature of Pila (Piła) in the years 1983–2013. These were printed in the same time in the Prelature’s journal Johannesbote. The whole picture of pilgrimage testimonies consists of not only their personal, internal, and religious experiences. They are tightly connected with the painful war history and complicated Polish-German relations. The clergy plays an important role in shaping the attitudes of German Catholics not only in sole faith, but also in relations with Poles, in the overwork of their common history. We can read of some concrete figures of bishops and priests who were also expelled, sharing the fate of their faithful for the rest of their lives. These are testimonies of gratitude of Catholics for their faithful life, the sacraments received, and for help to build a new identity in their postwar history.
