    Opis:
    The article shows that archaic language is one of the components and methods of the detection of historical memory of Ukrainians. The analysis of the use of such elements in Old Ukrainian literary language of the 14-18th centuries., in Ukrainian literary language of the 19-20th centuries and in modern Ukrainian dialects has proved “Ukrainianness” of some archaic elements of the Ukrainian language, which are perceived by the language awareness of the modern Ukrainian as elements of the Russian language rather than the elements of its national identity in the diachronic dimension, as these words do exist in the modern Russian literary language, while in the New Ukrainian literary language they are replaced by other lexemes. It is shown that such archaisms in the language awareness of educated Ukrainians, including writers, acquire additional connotations and update their historical memory.

    The article is devoted to the problem of the formation of the speech culture of primary school pupils who are carriers of dialectal speech. The modern linguodidactic representatives' and teachers' views of the problem raised are analyzed in the article. It was substantiated the practical value of the formation of the speech culture of primary school pupils, using at the same time, local dialects that students have mastered since childhood. The work also described the introduction of dialectal material into the educational process by a primary school teacher one of the mountain schools of the Nearcarpathian region. The study results of the formation of schoolchildren's speech culture are submitted in the context of dialect speech of the Ivano-Frankivsk region (Ukraine).

    The author discusses the poetry of the Władysław Młynek, both in dialect and in standard Polish language. Author from Cieszyn Silesia also dealt with choral works. The author’s of the article attention is devoted to the literary tradition of the region in contact with the national literature and in the context of regional literature.

    Opis:
    The paper presents the critical review of sociolinguistic investigations, in particular in the field of social typology of language variants. The author considers such conflicting problems of sociolinguistic classifications of language changes as the lack of exact use of the notion “the language”, the intersection of different classification criteria and the lack of one way of dividing, contradiction as well as incompleteness of the classification. Some categories of social language distinctness, for example the opposition of written and spoken language, are also objects of criticism. The author arranges the linguistic no- menclature, in particular he introduces two opposite categories: informal language/spe- ech as a functional style and ordinary/colloquial language/speech as one of sociolects. The author proposes his own classification of language variants, which leans on two criteria: subjective or functional proprieties of language variants. In this way, following the example of the natural binary Gray codę, the matrix of language changes is generated, where nine categories can be distinguished. The proposed model of language variants can also be applied to the description of multilingual situations.
