    Celem artykułu jest ukazanie egzystencjalnych motywów twórczości filmowej Ingmara Bergmana, jednego z najwybitniejszych reżyserów europejskich. Podkreślamy, że podejmowana przez niego problematyka ogniskuje się wokół takich zagadnień, jak samotność, niepokój, niepewność i przemijalność ludzkiego losu, śmierć, relacja człowieka do Boga czy poszukiwanie sensu życia. W pracy odwołujemy się zarówno do wybranych dzieł filmowych Bergmana (zwłaszcza do Siódmej pieczęci i tzw. „trylogii pionowej”), jak i do rozpoznań filozofów egzystencjalnych. Egzystencjalna interpretacja filmów Bergmana, jak się zdaje, pozwala uznać szwedzkiego reżysera za czołowego twórcę egzystencjalnego, akcentując uniwersalny, ponadczasowy charakter jego obrazów.
    The aim of the article is to show the existential themes of filmmaking by Ingmar Bergman, one of the greatest European directors. The paper emphasizes that the matters undertaken by Bergman focus on such issues as loneliness, anxiety, uncertainty and transience of human fate, death, man’s relationship with God and the searching for meaning of life. On the one hand, the paper refers to Bergman’s poetics (especially from The Seventh Seal and the “religious trilogy”). On the other hand, it discusses the recognition of existential philosophers. Existential interpretation of Bergman’s films allows to consider the director as the leading existential artist and emphasizes a universal, timeless character of his films.

    The starting point for the considerations are three versions of the text of Henryk Elzenberg, kept in manuscripts, and not published until now, devoted to “meditations” over the possibility of reaching immortality in earthly life. The author, on the basis of their analysis and other statements on immortality, presents Elzenberg’s attitude towards solitude, to which people who do not follow the main social stream and are able to retain autonomy of their views independently of outer conditions are all doomed. To indicate such kind of people Elzenberg has introduced the category of “spirit aristocracy”. This category is indispensable for existing of every society. And both scientists and artists are classified to it. They reach immortality, but it is conditioned, because during their lives nobody will get to know if it is worth to make a sacrifice of their own solitude. According to the author, Elzenberg’s life may be set as an example of such a solitary spirit aristocracy.

    Opis:
    In the stage of illumination, the soul is dying from the longing for the Spouse. It finds the most efficient way of moderating the pain of inevitable temporal separation in contemplative solitude. Since this solitude does not eliminate the distance, the soul craves for death, which promises it a beatifying meeting. It becomes the supreme goal for the soul and is presented by mystics as a fulfilled communication, or unification. The soul tends to it in a desperate trust in God, filled with a desire for self-loss. The soul tries to overcome with love the uncertainty, which shrouds its relation with the hidden God. This love incites in the soul the desire to see here and now, the impossibility of which is overcome by the ecstasy granted by grace. An ineffable inspiration, which allows the soul to communicate with God, is articulated in the mystical communication thanks to the gift of writing (charisma affabilitatis) and successful use of the metaphor.

    The article discusses the issues of chosen existential worries characteristic for mature people such as: fear of death, loneliness and suffering. These are the most frequent connotations of the elderly with their own mortality. The article presents the specifics of confrontation of a human being with existential worries in their last stage of life. The text is based on classic literature of Polish and foreign gerontologists, philosophers, psychologists and pedagogues and the author’s own research.
    Artykuł porusza kwestie wybranych trosk egzystencjalnych, specyficznych dla osób dojrzałych, tj. lęk przed śmiercią, samotność i cierpienie. Są to jedne z najczęściej występujących konotacji ludzi starszych z własną śmiertelnością. Przedstawiona została specyfika konfrontacji człowieka w jego ostatnim okresie życia z troskami egzystencjalnym. Tekst oparty o klasyczną literaturę polskich i zagranicznych gerontologów, filozofów, psychologów i pedagogów oraz o badania własne autora.

    The author, following Heidegger’s analysis of Dasein way, starts with a description of common understanding of a project of existence. Then he passes on to its ontological understanding. Both common and Heidegger’s way of understanding treat these issues in a different way. Despite significant differences, both ways of understanding the existence project – as a suggested answer to “how to live” question claiming to be the right ones – result from the same paradigm of viewing a human-being, mostly as somebody apart, who is distinguishable by possessing a self-imposed task, which could be “discovered” and put into reality only by an entity alone – and be oneself. Such a human, as a unique in his existence, is his own biggest problem and a task (a project) for all life.

    Artykuł w głównej mierze poświęcony jest analizie późnego eseju Norberta Eliasa Über die Einsamkeit der Sterbenden in unseren Tagen (1982). W pierwszej części autorka rozpatruje socjologiczne refleksje Eliasa nad zmianami we współczesnej percepcji umierania – choroby, starości, śmierci. Zdaniem Eliasa fenomen śmierci podlega systematycznemu wykluczeniu z centrum życia społecznego – z codzienności -, co stanowi o nowej wersji jego „zaczarowania”. W części drugiej przedstawiona jest jedna z najważniejszych tez niniejszego artykułu, tj. idea rozumu anamnetycznego. Autorka skupia się tu na Eliasowskich pojęciach komunikacji, zaangażowania i balansu w strukturze ja-my (resp. ja-ty). Elisowska formuła Ich-Wir-Balance, jako proces uczenia się, ma stanowić o zrównoważeniu i przedefiniowaniu rozumu anamnetycznego / pamięci kolektywnej. W ostatniej, trzeciej części autorka ilustruje krótko pewne podobieństwa między Eliasowską kategorią śmierci a nihilizmem w ujęciu T. Różewicza oraz koncepcją biopolityki G. Agambena.
    This article addresses Norbert Elias’s essay The loneliness of the dying (1982). In the first part the author reviews Elias’s ideas on how the contemporary social structure has produced character- istic problems for dying. In our age, the phenomena and the reality of death are pushed behind the scenes of social life. The second part presents one of the most important theses in this paper, i.e. the idea of anamnestic reason. The author gives her reflection on the Eliasian concepts of communication, engagement, and balance of power. This We-I-Balance as a learning process should lead to rebalancing and redefinition of anamnestic reason / collective memory. In the third part the author briefly illustrates some similarities between Elias’ category of death and two other ideas: nihilism by T. Różewicz and biopolitics by G. Agamben.

    This essay constitutes an attempt of showing the dialectics of the phenomenons of solitude and community on the example of Romanian writer and philosopher, Emil Cioran’s works and life. The aim of this paper is to present the combination of Cioran’s writings and his private life in comparison with the game in which solitude and community plays the main roles. The complete profile of Cioran greatly references to a philosophical subdiscipline, monoseology which treats on the phenomenon of solitude with its all complexity. The writings of Emil Cioran is a mutual interweaving of loner’s striving for any community.
