    In some destinations of tourism, national parks are a challenge for other, e.g. antropogenic, tourist attractions. The article presents and discusses national parks in Malaysia and analyses their significance as the country’s tourist attractions. The growing competitiveness of areas where nature is protected has been recognised as one of the reasons why Malaysia is chosen as a tourist destination.

    W publikacji podjęto temat konkurencyjności, ze wskazaniem na brak jednej powszechnie akceptowanej definicji tego pojęcia i na wieloznaczność rozumienia tego terminu. Wskazano na wystę-pujące poziomy konkurencyjności oraz różne miary i metody jej oceny z punktu widzenia tych pozio-mów, w tym przedsiębiorstw i gospodarki narodowej. W ostatniej części publikacji podjęto próbę oceny konkurencyjności gospodarki Polski i przedsiębiorstw w niej funkcjonujących.
    The publication discusses the topic of competitiveness as such, pointing that a one definition of this notion which could be accepted in economics has not been worked out yet. The problem of ambiguity in understanding the term of "competitiveness" is also presented. The article also shows different levels of competitiveness as well as different ways of measuring and methods of its as-sessment taking into consideration these levels, including enterprises and the national economy. In the last part of the publication authors attempt to asses the competitiveness of the Polish economy and the enterprises which function within this economy.

    The paper aims to determine how projects carried out as part of Poland’s National Development Plan for 2004-2006 have influenced the competitiveness of enterprises. The analysis applies to the situation in this area as of the end of December 2007. The authors use available research results including Regional Development Ministry reports on the implementation of operational programs and reports evaluating these programs. The analysis covers the results of selected measures undertaken as part of the following operational programs: Sectoral Operational Program Improvement of the Competitiveness of Enterprises, Integrated Operational Program of Regional Development, and Sectoral Operational Program Human Resources Development. The authors zeroed in on projects financed with the use of structural funds and identified measures with the greatest influence on the competitiveness of enterprises. The analysis involved issues such as the scope of assistance, the effectiveness of applying for regional funds, the structure of beneficiaries for structural funds, indicators of implementation, the influence of individual projects on the operations and competitiveness of enterprises, and the opinions of entrepreneurs about access to structural funds. The analysis showed that, despite the possibility of obtaining additional funds for development, the competitiveness of Polish enterprises has remained almost unchanged. The problem is that companies benefitting from structural funds account for a small percentage of the total number of enterprises operating in Poland, the authors say. The analysis made in the paper confirms that EU structural funds have made a difference-but mainly at the microeconomic level. They have benefited specific enterprises rather than the economy as a whole. Overall, the authors conclude, many positive changes have taken place in businesses that have used EU funds to boost their competitive potential.

    W niniejszym artykule zaprezentowano sposób ujęcia efektywności płatnika trzeciej strony. Jednocześnie dokonano charakterystyki Narodowego Funduszu Zdrowia oraz zaprezentowano przykładowe obszary konkurencji w relacji płatnikświadczeniodawca i płatnikświadczeniobiorca. Autor z dużą rezerwą pochodzi do wprowadzenia konkurencji w obszarze ceny za świadczenia opieki zdrowotnej. Stąd też nie udziela w tym zakresie jednoznacznych odpowiedzi, a co najwyżej sygnalizuje pewne wątpliwości i zadaje pytania. Natomiast jest przekonany co do istnienia przesłanek dających możliwość zwiększenia potencjału Narodowego Funduszu Zdrowia. Dlatego za konieczne uznaje podjęcie działań mających na celu identyfikację dysfunkcji i zaprojektowanie stosowanych zmian zarówno na poziomie instytucji, jak i w otoczeniu. W tym zakresie proponuje dokonać przeglądu rozwiązań będących propozycją zmian w zakresie funkcjonowania płatnika.
    The paper presents a␣form of analyzing the efficiency of the third party payer. The analysis includes the characteristics of the National Healthcare Fund and presentation of examples of the areas of competition in the following relations: payer - he healthcare provider and payer – beneficiary (patient). The idea of introducing price competition in the area of healthcare provision is treated rather cautiously. Hence no unequivocal answers are given. Certain doubts are highlighted and seve- ral questions are asked. It is specifically suggested that there exist prerequisites for increasing the potential of the National Healthcare Fund. Thus it is vital to undertake actions aimed at identification of dysfunctions and formulation of relevant changes both at the level of the institution as well as in its environment. Potential solutions concerning changes in the functioning of the payer have to be reviewed.

    The energetic sector plays an important role for the development of the Tajikistan economy. The energy consumption of the country reaches approximately 60% of GDP. At the same time, due to lack of own resources, Tajikistan covers about 70% of its fuel needs for resources by expensive imports. The development of the fuel and energy complex annually allocates more than 15% of the total government budget of the country, or more than $300 million.
    Sektor energetyczny odgrywa istotną rolę w rozwoju gospodarki Tadżykistanu. Krajowe zużycie energii sięga ok. 60% PKB. Z drugiej strony, z powodu braku własnych zasobów, Tadżykistan pokrywa ok. 70% swych potrzeb paliwowych kosztownym importem. Rozwój kompleksu paliwowoenergetycznego rozdysponowuje ponad 15% całego centralnego budżetu państwa, czyli ponad 300 mln dolarów.

    Przemysł spożywczy w każdym kraju jest branżą strategiczną zapewniającą bezpieczeństwo żywnościowe, promującą zachowania społeczne przyjazne dla środowiska, gwarantującą bezpieczeństwo produktów, zdrowie populacji i jej bezpieczeństwo ekonomiczne, działającą nieprzerwanie nawet w czasie kryzysów gospodarczych i politycznych. W związku z powyższym stan branży oraz jej wydajność wymaga ciągłych analiz i badań. W niniejszej publikacji dokonano analizy funkcjonowania przemysłu spożywczego na Ukrainie, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem obwodu o istotnym znaczeniu dla jego rozwoju i przewag eksportowych – Odessy. Dokument podejmuje również kwestię zrównoważonego rozwoju i konkurencyjności przemysłu spożywczego na Ukrainie.
