Opis:
Famous article of Tischner “The Decline of Christianity Thomist”, published on pages of the monthly the “Znak” in 1970 evoked the wave of interesting polemics in the Polish philosophical environment. They concerned on one hand the role of the Thomism in contemporary theology, on the other the criticism of the position of Tischner. Very author responded to a challenge criticizing the Thomism as the synthesis of data of the Revelation and Aristotelian philosophy. Because this merger is seizing character of both above ingredients – compared to two colours mixt with oneself and in the end constituting the new colour. Thomistic synthesis, from Tischner’s perspective, came into existence in the crowning moment of the history of the Christianity in Europe. She agreed on contemporary models of the scientific nature, culture, forms of the statehood. However in our times dangerous of it is a result uniquely thomistic “becoming poor” not to say “perversion” Christianities. And so in our times would the new synthesis be desired? Through the division of the learning, took the place of universal syntheses different “microsystems”, and very idea of the synthesis turned out to be too ambiguous, and for her conditions are impossible to fulfil. Valuable however rapidly of Tischner there would be rather a hermeneutic proposal of Paul of Ricoeur indeed to concentrate on the text of the christian revelation without the thomistic dogmatism here. Hence also, however dusk of the Thomism is opening intriguing and the philosophical latest perspectives for the Christianity.

The current migration crisis in Europe is a practical context of this study.  A lot of refugees, predominantly Muslims,  are constantly coming to our continent. This fact raises important questions and challenges not only to politics and economy, but also to the Church and its theology. It has already occured many times that one should focus not only on finding  practical solutions to the problem, but also a deeper, honest theoretical reflection that takes into account the foundations of Christian doctrine. In this case, it is mainly about the relationship of Christianity to other religions. Contemporary theology, especially fundamental theology practiced in the Polish and German linguistic areas, underlines the importance of the question about the truth In the context of God’s revelation, its meaning In the context of the relationship of Christianity to other religions and other religions among themsleves. God’s revelation is the source and principle of all theology, including the criterion of reference of Christianity to non- Christian religions. Practical principles of dialogue between Christianity and Islam can be developed on such a foundation. The new concept by the German theologian Henning Enogemann, demanding the transition from theology of religion to theology of interreligious relations turns out to be particularly interesting for theology of religion. His theory of interreligious relations is a practical application of theoretical findings.  Interreligious dialogue calls for new competences from all its participants.

Opis:
The aim of the article is to present Christianity and non-Christian religions in the thought of Karl Barth. The ideas of the Swiss theologian about religions are characterized by a deep evolution, which allows to single out three basic phases of shaping his thought. In the first phase, present in the first edition of The Letter to the Romans (Der Römerbrief, Zürich 1919), the author allows a view that pagans who are aided by the light of reason may get to cognition of God. Religions in such a view present themselves as meaningful testimony to human rising towards God. This vision is given up in the next phase, in the second edition of The Letter to the Romans (Der Römerbrief, Zürich 1922), and in The Church Dogmatics (Die Kirchliche Dogmatik, 1932–1966). Religions are viewed here as the “unbelief” (Unglaube), an expression of human hubris and an attempt of self-justification. In the third phase of his theological activity Barth revised and slightly moderated his views by stressing universality of the Word of God and the whole work of Creation as possible means of conveying God’s truth. In the modern theology of religion the position of Barth is described as Christocentric exclusivism and considered to be overcome. In the last part of the article a critical evaluation of Barth’s concept has been performed, showing its strong and weak points.
W ostatniej części artykułu dokonano krytycznej oceny koncepcji Bartha, wskazując jej mocne i słabe strony.

Opis:
Pluralistic theology of religion is getting more and more popular in Poland. This kind of theology deals with such questions as: Are all religions equal? Does Christianity surpass all these religions? Is there any way to state clearly how one should relate to Jesus Christ today' word that strikes a balance between these two extremes? No set of questions concerns Christian theologians more today. No questions have more practical relevance in the religiously most pluralistic country in the world. No American theologian has kept these questions on the theological agenda over the past three decades with more consistency than Paul Knitter. And none is more expert in his or her knowledge of the field. He is the chief disseminator of these views. Paul F. Knitter is Paul Tillich Professor of Theology, World Religions and Culture at Union Theological Seminary in the City of New York He was formerly Emeritus Professor of Theology at Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. He is a leading theologian of religious pluralism. He holds a licentiate in theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome (1966) and a doctorate from the University of Marburg, Germany (1972). Knitter's journey into interreligious dialogue began in 1964 when he was a seminarian in Rome and experienced the Second Vatican Council firsthand, at a time when the Roman Catholic Church declared its new attitude towards other religions. Since publishing his acclaimed book, No Other Name? (1985), Knitter has been widely known for his religious pluralism. Along with his friend and colleague, the Protestant philosopher of religion John Hick, Knitter has come under harsh criticism from Cardinal Ratzinger (presently the Pope of the Roman Catholic Church). Knitter is against using absolutist language to depict the Saviour in interreligious dialogue, and writes about the relational understanding of the uniqueness of Jesus: the Saviour is to be understood in relation to other saviours. Although Jesus is truly the Word of God, Knitter states that he is not the only word: he is God's universal, decisive and indispensable manifestation of saving truth and grace. According to Knitter, the creed and other Christian dogmas concerning Jesus are to be interpreted symbolically as expressions of the church's experience of Christ. Here Knitter's insight is contrary to the traditional church's teaching on Jesus as far as it has an ontological foundation. Knitter's teaching about the relational uniqueness of Jesus is naturally unacceptable to bishops, because it alters the way the faith is proclaimed and it also deviates from what is central to Christianity.
