- The aim of this article was to determine the growth and development of the Mazurian population of red deer (Cervus elaphus L.) on the basis of morphological parameters of antlers. Data from measurements of stags harvested in the Olsztyn Province during three hunting seasons 1988/1989, 1989/1990 and 1990/1991 were taken for analyses. The sampled group contained selective, shootable and prospective stags. Stags from the last two groups formed the class of strong stags, i.e. stags with antlers developed above the standard for a given age being the basic material for this study.
