Opis:
The paper describes the evolution of rural tourism and agritourism in Poland and presents the terms which define tourism in rural areas. First, the terms used over three historical periods in Poland are discussed: interwar, socialist and post-socialist. In this part, the long tradition of recreation in the Polish countryside and how it developed differently from West European countries is presented. Following that, the concept of Polish agritourism exogeneity is explained, seen in the way it was introduced and popularised at the time of political and economic transformations. In contrast to the evolutionary process of agritourism development in West European countries, the revolutionary origins of agritourism in Poland were the foundation of a hierarchy of terms defining tourism as connected with the countryside and farming.

Opis:
Tourism is one of the main factors that encourage students to participate in the Erasmus programme, and many Erasmus students are eager to travel while studying abroad. The article highlights an important segment of the Polish tourism market, namely foreign students enrolled in the Erasmus programme. The article aims to identify opportunities for the tourism industry associated with Erasmus students in Poland, taking into account experiences of other countries. The study is based on empirical data obtained from the Polish Tourism Organization and from Erasmus Family in Cordoba, a Spanish travel agency for the period 2015-2018. In addition, the author conducted a literature review, analysed relevant documents, and relied on her own observations. The growing socio-economic benefits of the Erasmus programme for countries participating in the programme stimulate competition between them in an attempt to attract more international students, where success of particular host countries and their educational institutions depends on a number of factors, including those associated with tourism. Significant competitive advantages can be achieved in this respect by combining the efforts of educational institutions and those responsible for tourism policy.

The development of winemaking has never been as dynamic as today in the whole history of Poland, with more and more vineyards being created each year. Such a state of Polish winemaking constitutes the development potential of the Polish enotourism product. The main purpose of this article is to develop the concept of the Polish tourism offer model, the target group of which are enotourists, including the identification of the elements of the enotourism offer in Poland along with a discussion of their current quantitative and/or qualitative status and recommendations for its improvement. In order to achieve the purpose of the article, a desk research method, known as a desk data analysis, was used, which involved the use of secondary data. The results of the conducted research allow concluding that Poland as a destination has a multi-element enotourism product. In the course of achieving the goal of this article, the concept of Poland’s enotourism product model was developed, within which four main elements were distinguished, i.e. natural values enabling the cultivation of grapevines, local and regional enotourism products, entities supporting and promoting enotourism in Poland, and content inspiring enotourists.

Opis:
Management transformations which started at the turn of the eighties and nineties of the 20th century in Poland have thoroughly changed socio-economic conditions of the development of the country and its regions. The transformation of state-controlled management system required adjustment of various socioeconomic and spatial structures to the new rules of market economy. This process, being based on transformation of the previous structures created in the centrallysteered management system and on the development of new structures, is being observed in many places in Poland, also in rural areas in the Świętokrzyskie Province. One of the most popular forms of development of rural areas is agritourism at present. The study attempts to assess the influence of geographical environment on agritourism development potential in the Świętokrzyskie Province. The analysis of elements of natural environment and tourist amenities makes it possible to evaluate how attractive rural areas are from the standpoint of agritourism development. The study gives numerical attractiveness indicators to show how rural areas are diversified in their likelihood of success for agritourism business

Opis:
The purpose of the article is to analyse selected aspects of innovation in the Polish tourism sector from the perspective of consumers and to highlight those areas where innovative solutions should be implemented. The author uses empirical data to verify the following hypothesis: consumers’ perception of innovations concerning tourism products in the Polish market varies considerably and depends on respondents’ characteristics. The study was based on information collected from 407 respondents using the computer-assisted web interview method (CAWI), which constituted a country-wide quota sample, representative of the Polish population aged 18 or over, in terms of age, sex, education, the size of the place of residence. The results of the study indicate that consumers are mostly in favour of innovation in the tourism sector, notice emerging developments in this field and are very optimistic about the country’s innovation capacity. Differences in opinions about innovative tourist products were depended on the professional status of the respondents. Consumer awareness may be one of the key elements in the development of the sector. The development of innovative tourism services in Poland should be a continuous process, especially in less developed areas, which depend heavily on tourism. The development in this area is facilitated by favourable attitudes of consumers towards innovation in the tourism sector, especially in niche markets, and specialised local resources could help to intensify innovation activities.

Opis:
The aim of this study is to characterize the tourism activity of Polish cannabis consumers in terms of (i) the level of their participation in tourism, (ii) parameters describing this participation, (iii) the effect of legal access to cannabis on choosing tourism destinations. The study is based on an anonymous online survey in which 886 voluntary respondents answered a series of questions about their tourist travels, their attitude to cannabis consumption, and their demographic, socio-economic and geographic metrics. Results of the survey were analyzed using several statistical indicators of variability, structure, correlation, and structure similarity. For the respondents declaring cannabis consumption, the level of their participation in tourism is close to the national level. Other parameters describing the domestic and foreign tourism of these respondents differ quite significantly from those reported for the general public of Poland. This indicates that the possibility of cannabis consumption significantly affects the nature and directions of travels undertaken by tourists interested in cannabis. Furthermore, there is a strong connection between the respondents’ personal preferences and the nature of their tourism, especially the destinations of their foreign trips. The conclusions from this study mostly apply to current and recent cannabis consumers because the vast majority of respondents (90%) rank among such kinds of cannabis users.

Opis:
Polish female romance tourism is a relatively recent phenomenon linked to mass tourism to Middle East and North Africa with Egypt being one of the top travel destinations. Local exotic, travel and leisure time create conditions to enter a romantic relationship with local Muslim men. In this regard Islam is the source of danger and fascination. On the one hand it is about the essentialized submissive position of women, but on the other hand local context brings in the potential of a racialized sexuality. The paper aims to analyze how Islam is narrated and used in discussions at two Polish Internet forums dedicated to female romance tourism in Egypt and Tunisia. The data corpus indicates that information about Islam is used in order to decode, interpret and predict the behavior and motivation of Muslim men.

Background. People have travelled for treatment-related purposes for a long time. Every year, the demand for such trips increases. The market of travelling because of one’s health is a growing sector of the tourism economics. Poland is a country with a strong potential medicine-wise and may expand its capabilities with proper resource management (legal changes, personnel education, implementing new technologies and global promotion). One of the factors that encourages tourists to come to Poland are the prices of medical procedures – much lower than in other countries in Europe and worldwide. Material and methods. The study included individuals aged 18 to 56 from seven countries: Poland, Ukraine, Belarus, Russia, United Kingdom, Norway and Italy. A diagnostic survey and the questionnaire technique were used. Results. Poland is visited by tourists of different age and their interest in the travels still grows. Contemporary medical tourism offers a wide range of services and each person (not only the actually ill) may explore them. The main purpose of the travels is health improvement, but there are also arguments regarding “changing oneself,” relaxation and escaping civilization. The examined persons express their dissatisfaction with the state of the buildings at which they stayed during their treatments and personnel preparedness. Conclusions. Medical tourism in Poland needs to undergo some changes to have a chance of developing on a global scale. Poland is an EU country with low prices of procedures and a high level of medicine.

The growing importance of tourism in the world manifests itself in many areas of social and economic systems strongly impacting the economy, the quality of human life, and the natural environment. Medical tourists are playing a pivotal role in shaping the tourism industry. Although their primary intention is to seek medical treatment, they often maximize destination options by pursuing other visitation objectives such as side trips to tourist attractions or attending cultural events. At the same time, the interest shown by tourists contributes to the shaping of certain behaviors within a local community in a tourist area.

The purpose of the research was to learn whether pro-ecological policies are important to guests staying at hotels. It is based on a survey of 274 guests staying at 23 hotels in Poland. Research has shown that 32.1% of survey participants consider proecological issues when choosing a stay at a hotel. Close to 62% of guests believe that hotels should pursue such initiatives which are believed to yield environmental benefits, reductions in hotel operating costs, promotional effects, and a positive impact on a hotel's image. More than 35% of guests would be willing to pay more for a stay at a hotel that pursues environmentally-friendly policies. It is important to emphasize that pro-ecological activity is not used in hotel rankings in Poland.

Thermal tourism in Poland has been gaining in popularity for over a decade now. This refers to both the supply and demand sides of the market. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to describe the current situation, as well as the prospects of formation and development of the thermal tourism market in Poland. To do that, a number of research methods had to be employed, including a critical analysis of literature on the subject, statistical data analysis, a case study (the example of Poland), methods of observation and inference by deduction within the scope of the research question asked. Based on the results of secondary research and an in-depth review of literature on the subject, one can conclude that Polish thermal tourism market is not growing steadily. On the one hand, there is considerable consumers’ interest in using geothermal pools, while on the other the geothermal potential for medical and recreational purposes remains unexploited.
Bowiem z jednej strony mamy do czynienia z dużym zainteresowaniem konsumentów korzystaniem z basenów geotermalnych z drugiej zaś obserwuje się niewykorzystany potencjał geotermalny mogący służyć do celów leczniczych i rekreacyjnych.
