Opis:: Introduction. An adequate mode of nutrition is among the most important environmental factors affecting the development of Man and maintenance of a good health status. An improper selection of nutrients and irregular consumption of meals may lead to overweight and obesity. Objective. The characteristics of health behaviours of the examined population of schoolchildren, with consideration of nutrition and body weight disorders. A comparison of the opinions of schoolchildren and their parents concerning health behaviours. Development of guidelines for educational programmes carried out in the place of residence of the population of schoolchildren and their parents. Materials and method. The survey covered a randomised group of schoolchildren attending elementary and secondary schools in the Kalisz Province and province of the city of Kalisz. The study was conducted in May and June 2009, in a randomly selected representative group of 1,100 boys and girls from classes V and VI of elementary schools, and 1,100 secondary school adolescents aged 16–19 and their parents. The studies of schoolchildren attending elementary and secondary schools were compared with the all-Polish studies of junior high school adolescents in the school year 2006–2007. Results. The respondents most often consumed 3–4 meals; however, as many as 26% of junior high school adolescents and 27% of secondary school adolescents admitted that they consume only one meal daily. The schoolchildren show inadequate nutritional habits concerning an insufficient consumption of fruits, vegetables and fish, in favour of high calorific meals and sweet snacks and drinks. Parents improperly assess the body weight of their children and perceive them as slimmer, which is not confirmed by the BMI value for age and gender. Conclusions. Systematic monitoring and analysis of changes in the health behaviours of adolescents should be a basis for planning health education and promotion programmes. Educational programmes concerning various aspects of health should be implemented in an organized and complementary way, directed not only at schools, but also at entire families and local communities. Knowledge, beliefs, skills and attitudes towards health acquired during the period of adolescence decide about life style in adulthood.

Opis:: The diapiric structures of the Polish Lowlands are tectonically deeply seated down to the autochthonous Zechstein strata at a depth of ca. 6 km. In the process of deep burial and halokinetic diapirism, the salt rocks were subjected to diagenetic and metamorphic transformations, with the temperature being an essential factor. Considering the thermal gradient, a temperature of up to ca. 200°C can be achieved in the salt dome within a depth range from several hundred metres to 6 km, which may lead to transformations of the majority of salt minerals. Phase transitions of two borate minerals – boracite and congolite from the Kłodawa salt dome – provide evidence for higher temperatures in the salt dome rocks. The authigenic euhedral crystals of those borate minerals display their external habitus in ambient temperature in the form of regular symmetry (F43c – pseudo-regular polyhedrons), whereas their internal structure is lower: orthorhombic (Pca21) for boracite and rhombohedral (R3C) for congolite. The heating and cooling of boracite and congolite crystals show reversible phase transition. At a temperature of ca. 270°C, boracite crystals change their symmetry: orthorhombic ↔ cubic. In the case of congolite three reversible phase transitions within a temperature range of 50–339°C can be observed: rhombohedral ↔ monoclinic ↔ orthorhombic ↔ cubic symmetry. Those phase transitions, confirmed experimentally in our study, clearly document at least local occurrences of temperatures exceeding 339°C in the Kłodawa salt dome.

Opis:: This paper presents a new record of the rose chafer Protaetia speciosissima (Scopoli, 1786) (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae), a rare beetle species associated with tree hollows. Specimens of this beetle were found in the oak forest in the Krotoszyn Forest District, west-central Poland, in nest-box for the tawny owl (Strix aluco L., 1758) that had accumulated dead organic material. This finding suggests that it is possible for P. speciosissima to develop and reproduce outside its typical microhabitats.

Opis:: Po określeniu pojęcia dziedzictwa przyrodniczo-kulturowego i przedstawieniu problemu redakcji mapy na podkładzie nowej Mapy topograficznej Polski 1:50 000, omówiono koncepcję treści Mapy dziedzictwa przyrodniczo-kulturowego Polski 1:50 000. Szczegółowo scharakteryzowano poszczególne wyróżnienia dziedzictwa przyrodniczego i dziedzictwa kulturowego oraz wskazano możliwości wykorzystania mapy.
The authors describe a concept of contents of a Map of the natural-cultural heritage of Poland 1:50 000. First they define the notion of natural-cultural heritage, and then characterize particular distinctions of natiral heritage and those of cultural heritage. They also indicate possible uses for such a map. The contents of Map of the heritage comprises the objects of heritage, i.e. the most valuable elements of geographic environment. In the case of natural elements of environment we can talk of "natural heritage ", that is the object and areas of exceptional aesthetic value, examples of ecological and biologic processes, as well as traces of important events in the Earth's history. In the case of objects and phenomena resulting from material and immaterial human activities, we can talk of "cultural heritage". Map of the heritage is drawn on a bases of a new Topographic map of Poland 1:50 000, with which the overprinted graphic symbols have to agree. It was assumed that the map should be accessible to general, nonspecialist public, therefore the legend distinctions should be comprehensible for any reader with at least secondary education. Map's contents is divided into two groups. The first group, "Natural heritage (fig.1) contains three topic categories: - environment protection - didactic stands - degradation of the natural environment The second group, "Cultural heritage (fig. 3) is divided as follows: - major archeological sites - historic sites - major events and non-existent objects Map of the heritage also includes elements of tourist infrastructure (fig. 2). Additionally, a hypsometric sketch has been included, with physico-geographical regionalization of the presented area (fig. 5). The map could be used in many fields, especially regional planning, education, tourism and promotion of "little homelands". Rich contents and the scale of presentation mean that the reader would gain access to previously unavailable information.

Opis:: Chęcińsko-Kielecki Park Krajobrazowy został utworzony w 1996 r., przede wszystkim w celu ochrony wartości geologicznych. Obejmuje on obszar wielowiekowej eksploatacji kopalin, który uległ znacznym przemianom antropogenicznym. Do najważniejszych wartości tego obszaru należą: obecność skał osadowych o różnej litologii i wieku, odsłonięcia niezgodności strukturalnych, form mikrotektonicznych, przejawów mineralizacji hydrotermalnej, ślady historycznego górnictwa, a także morfologia strukturalna z ciekawymi elementami rzeźby. W gospodarce obszaru dominuje rolnictwo oraz wydobycie i przeróbka kopalin; zyskuje jednak na znaczeniu także turystyka i rekreacja. Wartości geologiczne, historyczne i kulturowe, sposób ich ochrony i administrowania oraz przesłanki ekonomiczno-społeczne przemawiają za włączeniem Ch-KPK do sieci Europejskich Geoparków.
