The article refers to J. Jarniewicz’s concept of two types of translators attitude: legislator and ambassador. Polish translations of Slovak literature generally exist as a representative of the original literature and culture. Circumstances of creating and publication of the oldest Polish translations of this literature: a folk song, part of J. Ros- tworowski’s novel Zamek na Czorsztynie, a novel by J. Kalinciak Restavracia translated by P. Stalmach and a drama Matka by J. Gregor Tajovsky translated by F. Gwiżdż, shows the motives behind these translators probably were not necessarily associated only with the mission and with the desire to be an ambassador of a translated work, author and primary literature.

Кога станува збор за полско -македонските преводи, 3 книги беа преведени, од кои 2 се класика на полската литература, а третата е детективска приказна од многу популарен, современ полски автор.
The article analyses Polish -Macedonian and Macedonian -Polish literature translations published in 2015, their type and the reasons for their choice. From Macedonian into Polish, 2 publications of contemporary young authors were translated. One of them was a novel, the second being a set of short, sometimes abstract and translatologically -challenging stories. In terms of Polish -Macedonian translations, 3 books were translated; all of them either Polish classical literature or popular works.

Opis:: Between the years 1990 and 2006, about 50 Polish books (poetry, prose and drama) were translated in already independent Slovenia, also a lot of single poems, short stories and fragments of more substantial compositions. Slovene macrochoices from Polish literature on the one hand constitute continuation of the traditional presence in the Slovene culture, on the other hand they result from increasing language and encyclopedic competencies of the translators. The choices are defined by four criteria: Polishness, empathy, the desire to get to know the Polish mentality, the historically‑literal process and personal motivation. The authors of choices and translations of Polish literature are translators belonging to many generations, differently evaluating the needs of a Slovene reader and the character of Polish literature and mentality. Although Polish literature is distinctly present in the Slovene literary life, in the Slovene choices from it dominates perspective of strangeness, with which translators from different generations familiarise the native recepient, choosing works belonging to the canon and often to the opposite pole.
V letih 1990—2006 je bilo v že samostojni Sloveniji prevedenih okoli 50 poljskih knjig (s področij poezije, proze in dramatike), ob tem pa še veliko posameznih pesmi in pripovedi ter fragmentov večjih literarnih enot. V teh slovenskih izborih poljske literature lahko po eni strani vidimo nadaljevanje njene tradicionalne navzočnosti v slovenski kulturi, po drugi pa izhajajo iz čedalje širših jezikovno‑enciklopedijskih kompetenc prevajalcev. Opredeljujejo jih (izbore) štirje kriteriji: poljskost, empatija, potreba po spoznanju poljske mentalitete in literarnozgodovinskega procesa ter osebna motivacija. Avtorji izborov in prevodov poljske literature so prevajalci, ki pripadajo različnim rodovom in imajo različne poglede na potrebe slovenskega bralca in značaj poljske literature ter mentalitete. Čeprav pripada poljski literaturi v slovenskem literarnem življenju opazno mesto, prevajalske izbore iz nje narekuje opažanje drugačnosti, ki jo prevajalci različnih generacij domačemu prejemniku približujejo skozi izbor del, pripadajočih kanonu, pogosto pa tudi z besedili s slednjemu prav nasprotnega pola.

Opis:: Inspired by the theories of such well recognized scholars as G. Genette, J. Derrida and E. Skibińska the authors of this paper took a closer look into translators’ comments in Slovene translations of three Polish novels. The analytical part of the paper has been divided into two sections. The first one described the formal characteristics of footnotes. The second one illustrated different cultural, social, and historical contexts of using additional translators` comments.
Cilj prispevka je predstaviti različne vrste prevajalskih opomb v prevodih poljskih knjig v slovenščino: Wojna polsko-ruska pod flagą biało-czerwoną D.Mmasłowske, Lubiewo M. Witkowskega in Gnój W. Kuczoka. avtorja sta predstavila kratek pregled obstoječih teorij prevajalskih opomb. Analitični del prispevka je sestavljen iz dveh delov. v prvem delu se avtorja osredotočata na formalne značilnosti opomb, kot statipologija in klasifikacija glede na uporabljene tehnike. V drugem delu prispevka pa sledi analiza besedila v opombah s posebnim poudarkom na kulturne, družbene in zgodovinske elemente.

The article focuses on the Polish literary works translated into Bulgarian in 2014. We will point to the most important trends defining the main characteristics of Bulgarian translations of Polish writers and the possible reasons why they have been chosen. Next, the titles of the translated works that were warmly received by the Bulgarian audience will be presented. We will also pay attention to the most active modern translators and the brightest representatives of the new translators’ generation in Bulgarian literature.

This article presents an analysis of translations of Polish literature in Macedonia and the Macedonian one published in Poland in 2007—2013. It contains book editions as well as translations published in magazines. The author tries to answer the question why do the translators choose for translation the books of certain writers. The conclusion is that the most common selection criterion is honoring the publication of a literary award. After analyzing the author notes that over the years the number of translations of Polish literature in Macedonia and Macedonian one in Poland increases.

The text focuses on the translations of Polish literature. 27 Polish books of 16 authors were published in Serbia. Only 4 of them are volumes of poetry. Most of these translations appeared in Serbia earlier. Themes of Polish books coincides with themes of Serbian literature.

Przedmiotem artykułu są tłumaczenia literatury polskiej, które ukazały się w Bośni i Hercegowinie w latach 1990—2020 — zarówno w wydaniach książkowych, jak i w czasopismach. Przedstawiono repertuar tłumaczonych utworów i przybliżono sylwetki bośniackich tłumaczy z języka polskiego. Przegląd ten z jednej strony ukazuje różnorodność tłumaczonych utworów, z drugiej — także luki i opóźnienia w przekładach współczesnej literatury polskiej.
The paper deals with translations of Polish literature in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the period from 1990 to 2020 appearing in book publications and to a lesser extent in Bosnian journals. The spectrum of translated works was presented as well as Bosnian translators from Polish with a brief overview of the period preceding the 1990s. This overview shows the diversity of translated works but also some gaps and delays in translating contemporary Polish literature.

Opis:: Предмет на обсъждане в настоящата статия са преводите на български книги издадени в Полша и полски книги издадени в България, в периода 2007—2013 г. През последните години в Полша e публикуван относително силен корпус от преводи на българскатa литература. Колекциятa се състои от съвременни романи, сборници, антологии с разкази и cтихосбирки. Въпреки неблагоприятнатa ситуация, която се изразява в общата икономическа и културнa кризa, прозападнaта мода, ограничаваща присъствието на „малкитe”литератури, българската литература всяка година присъствa на полския издателски пазар. Успешният прием на полскaтa литература в България в последните седем години се дължи на: високото качество на преводите, подходящaтa литературнa и критическа рефлексия, финансовата подкрепа на Полския институт в София. Резултатът от благоприятни обстоятелства се оказа голям брой преводи, който се състои от: класикaтa и селекциятa от съвременнaтa и и най‑новата полска литература.
The subject of discussion in this article is translation of Bulgarian books in Poland and Polish books in Bulgaria in the period 2007—2013. In recent years relatively a large number of translations of Bulgarian literature are published in Poland. Collection includes modern novels, short story volumes and anthologies, poetry books. Despite the unfavorable situation, which expressed in the general economic and cultural situation, pro‑Western orientation, limiting the presence of “small” literatures, Bulgarian literature each year attend the Polish publishing market. The successful reception of Polish literature in Bulgaria in the last seven years due to: high quality translations, adequate reflection in the field of literary criticism and literary studies, the financial support of the Polish Institute in Sofia. The result of favorable circumstances have been a large number of translations, which consist: the literary classics and selection of contemporary and recent Polish literature.

Opis:: Various factors influence the contemporary reception of Polish literature in France. Economic criteria have succeeded ideological constraints, but new developments in the memory process in Poland and France also play a major role, all the more so as they are not synchronised, especially when it comes to the history of WW2 and Jewish -Polish relations. An analysis reveals the combination of at least four factors: the role of literary translations (re-editions and new translations), the results of his- toriographical research, the evolution of collective memory in both countries, as well as the interaction with foreign – mostly Anglo-Saxon – publications on the sub- ject. Through a cursory presentation of the reception of Polish literature for youth and adults in the early 2000s, we intend to show that WW2 and Jewish-Polish rela- tions, among other themes, occupy a central position. The two “re-enactments” of the figure of Jan Karski published in 2009 in French novels by Yannick Haenel and Bruno Tessarech and the ensuing polemic, as well as the re-edition of the testimony by the great Polish freedom fighter Jan Karski are a telling illustration of what is at stake in the contemporary reception of Polish literature in France and, more generally, of all the issues regarding that country.

Czech and Polish literature reaches its readers across their respective borders in several ways: via translations of books by well-known and esteemed writers; through representatives of the younger generation; and as translations of prose and poetry published in magazines. The reception of Polish and Czech literature has been very positive; specifically, there is a growing interest among Polish readers in Czech literary offerings.
Bibliografie je rozdělena do dvou částí, z nichž první zahrnuje Bibliografii překladů polské literatury v České republice za rok 2018 a druhá Bibliografii překladů české literatury v Polsku za rok 2018, obě části obsahují přeloženou literaturu. Zpracovaná bibliografie se nevěnuje výhradně knižním položkám, ale zohledňuje i překlady umístěné v časopisech. Činnost nakladatelství v Polsku a v České republice, jimi konsekventně realizovaná kulturní, vydavatelská politika a příslušná popularizátorská strategie se podílejí na obohacení dialogu mezi kulturami. Česká a polská literatura si v obou zemích budují silnou pozici, která se postupně zlepšuje. Konečným cílem celého projektu je zajistit odborníkům a čtenářům prostřednictvím řady Przekłady Literatur Słowiańskich vyčerpávající seznam publikací překladů české a polské literatury vydané na území České republiky a Polska v roce 2018.

Opis:: The article fits in mainstream considerations devoted to the ties between romantic music and literature. The author wonders about the importance of creativity of Kornel Ujej-ski work for nineteenth century attempts of translating music into poetic words. The poem Wniebowzięcie from the series Tłumaczenia Szopena [Translations of Chopin] is the subject of analysis, which is considered to be one of the best achievement in this regard. The simultaneous description of Chopin’s Prelude in A major (op. 28, no 7) leads to indicate the multi layer dependence between the literary work and its musical archetype. Ujejski does not stop at devotion to the moody nature of the composition. The piano preparation of the author as well as a special workflow on the texts enabled broadens range of an interpretation of structural convergence as an important achievement of the poet. The series requires two types of assessment – taking into account the artistic consciousness of the epoch and doubts in contemporary interdisciplinary comparative literature.

Opis:: This article discusses the strategies that may be used during the process of translation of a literary work. It will be shown that the translators’ choices are context driven. The starting point for an analysis are four theoretical approaches to translation strategies (Markovina 1993, Koller 2004, Gercken 1999 and Hejwowski 2006). The analysis of the translator’s choices will be carried out at the example of Andrzej Stasiuk’s novel “Jak zostałem pisarzem. Próba autobiografii intelektualnej” translated into German by Olaf Kühl.
