Opis:
In this work we present magneto-optical Kerr effect study of magnetization processes in amorphous glass - coated microwire of composition Fe_{77.5}Si_{7.5}B_{15}. Unique results obtained from microwire were compared to results of similar measurements on polycrystalline ribbon Co_2FeSi. In both cases reversal of longitudinal and transversal component of surface magnetization was studied. There was just a small variation in total change of magnetization caused by change in the direction of magnetic field in case of square hysteresis loops measured on microwire. However, switching field was angularly dependent and the change was considerably high and well predictable. The last two facts make such microwires outstanding candidates for sensors of magnetic field direction or spatial orientation.

Here we present the study of the stress dependence of the switching field in amorphous glass-coated magnetic microwire of composition FeNiMoB. Samples were heat treated in the temperature range from 250°C up to 500°C in order to obtain relaxed and nanocrystalline state. As-cast microwire shows strong stress dependence of the switching field, which decreases with the temperature of annealing. The sample is almost not stress dependent after heat treatment at 425°C, because the magnetostriction vanishes. However, the strongest stress dependence was found for the microwire annealed at 400°C, just below the optimal annealing temperature to obtain the nanocrystalline state.

Opis:
It is shown in the present paper that gradually devitrified Co-based non-magnetostrictive metallic glass is an excellent model material to verify Louis Néel's theory of the Rayleigh rule. In the course of the calculations, Néel showed that the parameter p=bH$\text{}_{c}$a (where H$\text{}_{c}$ is the coercivity, a and b are the coefficients of a quadratic polynomial expressing the Rayleigh rule) is expected to range between 0.6 (hard magnets) and 1.6 (soft). However, the experimental values of this parameter, reported in the literature for a number of mono- and poly-crystalline magnets, are much greater than those expected from the theory presented by Néel (in some cases even by two orders of magnitude). The measurements, performed for a series of Co-based metallic glass samples annealed at gradually increasing temperature to produce nanocrystalline structures with differentiated density and size of the crystallites, have shown that the calculated values of the parameter p fall within the range expected from Néel theory.

We have studied magnetization process in amorphous bistable $Fe_{80}W_{3}B_{17 }$ microwires with reduced Curie temperature. High mechanical stresses from glass-coating, induced during production process, result in high switching field. Reducing the length of microwire, the switching field decreases as a result of reduction of magnetoelastic anisotropy. Moreover, the decrease of magnetoelastic anisotropy results in a complex temperature dependence of the switching field. On the other hand, strong variations of the switching field with temperature can be employed in miniaturised temperature sensor.

Amorphous and nanocrystalline ferromagnetic glass-coated microwires show excellent magnetic properties that make them very suitable to be employed as sensing elements in devices for technical applications. New $Fe_{40}Ni_{38}Mo_4B_{18}$ alloy composition can be appropriate to prepare soft magnetic nanocrystalline microwires which exhibit magnetic bistability even in the nanocrystalline state. Stability of magnetic properties after different thermal treatments ($T_{a}$ = 250-425°C) and after nanocrystallization was confirmed by the switching field $H_{sw}$ measurements. The frequency dependence of the switching field was investigated. Two contributions to the domain wall switching mechanism were recognized: magnetoelastic one coming from the magnetoelastic interaction of the magnetic moments with the stresses and relaxation one coming from the structural relaxation of local defects at atomic scale. But, the relative role of both contributions has been shown to vary strongly in different stage of devitrification.

The following paper presents the results of modelling of the magnetic characteristics of isotropic (Ni-Zn ferrite) and anisotropic material ($Fe_{40}Ni_{38}Mo_4B_{18}$ amorphous alloy in as quenched state), both useful for sensor applications. For the modelling an extended Jiles-Atherton model was used. Extension of the model connects model's parameter k, describing average energy required to break pinning site, with magnetic state of the material. Such extension of the model is reasonable from the physical point of view. Good agreement between experimental data and modelling confirms that the extended Jiles-Atherton model creates the possibility of modelling of magnetic characteristics of both isotropic and anisotropic magnetic cores.

Opis:
Amorphous bilayers consisting of Fe-Si-B and Co-Si-B layers have been prepared by planar flow casting from a single crucible using a double-nozzle technique. Temperature dependencies of magnetization and hysteresis loops have been investigated in a wide temperature range. At room temperature, the effects of interlayer stresses, induced in material due to different thermal expansion coefficients of two mechanically interconnected soft magnetic layers, resulted in rounded hysteresis loops with flattened central part, indicating a dominant role of magnetization rotational processes. With an increase of measurement temperature, the interlayer stresses are relieved and the hysteresis loops became more squared.

The symmetric dependences of magneto-impedance on the applied longitudinal dc magnetic field were measured in an amorphous CoFeSiB microwire. Additional application of a circumferential dc bias magnetic field was used to achieve the asymmetric magneto-impedance in the microwire. The obtained results are theoretically interpreted taking into account the cylindrical core-shell magnetic structure and the helical anisotropy induced during the microwire preparation. The observed very steep linear magneto-impedance dependences crossing H = 0 are promising for technical applications of the CoFeSiB microwire as a sensor of low magnetic fields.

Opis:
The paper presents the results of modelling the influence of magnetizing field frequency on the magnetic characteristics of $Fe_{40}Ni_{38}Mo_4B_{18}$ amorphous alloy in as-quenched state. An extension for the Jiles-Atherton model was applied and changes of the parameter k during the magnetization process were considered. On the base of the experiment, the parameters of the Jiles-Atherton model were calculated for experimental hysteresis loop. Evolutionary strategies, together with the gradient optimisation method, were used. Moreover, the changes of parameters c and a as the function of frequency of magnetizing field were also taken into consideration. Finally, the high conformity between the experimental and modelling results was achieved. This high conformity indicates that the results both create new possibilities in modelling of properties of inductive components based on the amorphous alloys, as well as extend the possibility of quantitative description of magnetization process.

We have studied the magnetization process in amorphous $Fe_{49.6}Ni_{27.9}Si_{7.5}B_{15}$ microwire. It was found that the hysteresis mechanism consists of two contributions: magnetoelastic and structural relaxation. It was shown that at low frequencies, the magnetization process is controlled mainly by the structural relaxation. At higher frequencies (above 50 Hz), the relaxation effect disappears and switching field is determined mainly by the magnetoelastic contribution. Moreover, the effect of thermal treatment at temperature 300°C has been studied. As-cast microwire is almost unsensible to the applied tensile stress since the applied stresses are lower than that induced during production. After annealing, the stresses relax and stress sensibility of microwires increases.

The double-peak behaviour of giant magneto-impedance (GMI) dependence on the external magnetic field strength H is observed in as-cast glass-covered amorphous thin wire $Co_{70.5}Fe_{4.5}Si_{15}B_{10}$ (microwire), as well as in microwire with the removed glass cover. The position of sharp peaks is symmetrical (H=± $H_{m}$) with respect to zero external magnetic field strength (H=0) and corresponds to the critical field of irreversible magnetization rotation. The maximum GMI ratio $(ΔZ//Z)_\text{max}$ dependence on the amplitude of current $i_{ac}$ at frequency of 1 MHz is analysed by means of the helical anisotropy (0<α<90°), induced during preparation of the microwire and after glass-cover removing. The additional dc bias current $i_{dc}$ ≤ $i_{ac}$ is applied in order to achieve asymmetrical GMI effect. Asymmetrical GMI dependences exhibit hysteresis which can be explained by irreversible magnetization rotation at ferromagnetic surface of the microwire.

In this contribution a less common experimental procedure is presented, which includes simultaneous application of electrical pulse heating, and longitudinal mechanical stress, applied along the ribbon length, for the magnetic property tailoring. The annealing is performed in protecting atmosphere in a vertical tube furnace by applying a weight at the free, cold bottom end of the ribbon. In these circumstances neither nanometer-size grains nor the concentration-distribution have been developed. The static coercive force, anisotropy and demagnetizing factor are monitored as a function of pulse number.
