Opis:
We report a study of structure and magnetic properties of Ni/Ti multilayers with different modulation wavelength, 10 nm ≤ λ ≤ 40 nm, and constant sublayers thickness ratio d$\text{}_{Ni}$/d$\text{}_{Ti}$=1. Specimens were characterized with X-ray diffraction, vibrating sample magnetometer and torque meter in as-deposited state and in successive stages of isothermal annealing at 423 K. Hysteresis curves of as-deposited samples revealed the typical feature of ferromagnetic films with predominant shape anisotropy. During annealing very pronounced changes in the hysteresis loops were observed. An analysis of the loops indicates the occurrence of distinct changes in magnetic anisotropy of Ni sublayers: their effective shape anisotropy is drastically reduced due to a development of the perpendicular anisotropy and/or a modification of the microstructure. The effect can possibly be applied to achieve desirable variation of perpendicular anisotropy in multilayers which consist of Ni sublayers.

Opis:
In order to obtain an alloy with a specific set of magnetic properties, the dominant influences of chemical component and thermal treatment selection need to be satisfied. In this paper, the results of investigations into the microstructure and magnetic properties of the following alloys are presented: amorphous Fe₈₂Zr₇Nb₂Cu₁B₈ and crystalline Fe₈₂Zr₆Y₁Nb₂Cu₁B₈. The structure and microstructure were examined using the Mössbauer spectroscopy and X-ray diffractometry. The Fe₈₂Zr₇Nb₂Cu₁B₈alloy was found to be fully amorphous in the as-quenched state and the transmission Mössbauer spectrum for this alloy is typical of that for weak ferromagnets, with an average hyperfine field of 9.86(2) T. The shape of this spectrum was found to have changed noticeably in the case of the Fe₈₂Zr₆Y₁Nb₂Cu₁B₈ alloy. This change was attributed to the presence of the crystalline phase bcc-Fe.

The aim of the present work was to investigate the phase constitution and magnetic properties of the rapidly solidified Fe₆₅Pr₉B₁₈W₈ alloy ribbons in the as-cast state and subjected to annealing. The base alloy was prepared by arc-melting of the high purity elements under the Ar atmosphere. The ribbon samples were obtained by the melt-spinning technique under a low pressure of Ar. The studies have shown an amorphous structure of the ribbon in the as-cast state and its soft magnetic properties. Annealing at various temperatures for 5 min resulted in an evolution of the phase constitution that caused changes in magnetic properties of the alloy. The crystallization behavior was studied using differential scanning calorimetry. In order to determine the phase composition of annealed ribbons, X-ray diffractometry was used. The evolution of microstructure and phase constitution was verified by the Mössbauer spectroscopy. The magnetic properties were determined from hysteresis loops measured by a vibrating sample magnetometer in the external magnetic field up to 2 T at room temperature.

The paper presents a characterization of the phase structure by X-ray diffraction and isothermal magnetic entropy changes for the amorphous Fe₅₈Co₁₀Zr₁₀Mo₅W₂B₁₅ alloy sample in the as-quenched state. An ingot sample was obtained by arc-melting. The ribbon sample was obtained by the melt-spinning technique. The magnetic measurements at various temperatures allowed for the study of the Curie temperature T_{C} and magnetic entropy changes |ΔS_{M}|. In order to determine the Curie temperature T_{C} of amorphous phase, three independent methods were used. Determination of the Curie temperature T_{C} for the amorphous alloys is not a trivial problem, as magnetization does not decreases rapidly around T_{C}. Therefore it is essential issue to establish T_{C} using few complementary methods. X-ray diffraction analysis revealed a fully amorphous structure of the ribbon samples.

The effect of tungsten addition on phase constitution and magnetic properties of the bulk $Fe_{65}Pr_9B_{26-x}W_{x}$ (where x=2, 4, 6, 8) alloys was studied. The base alloys were prepared by arc-melting of the high purity elements under Ar atmosphere. Samples were produced by suction of an arc-molten alloy to a water-cooled copper mould (the suction-casting method). In order to develop nanocrystalline structure, the samples were subjected to annealing. Heat treatment resulted in an evolution of the phase constitution that caused changes in magnetic properties of the alloys. X-ray diffractometry was used to determine the phase composition of annealed samples. The analysis showed presence of hard magnetic $Pr_2Fe_{14}B$, paramagnetic $Pr_{1+x}Fe_4B_4$ and soft ferromagnetic α-Fe phases of annealed samples. The room temperature magnetic properties were determined from hysteresis loops measured by VSM magnetometer in the external magnetic field up to 2 T. The highest hard magnetic parameters were measured for the rod sample of $Fe_{65}Pr_9B_{20}W_6$ annealed at 1003 K for 5 min.

Magnetization reversal processes in the magnets derived from the $Fe_{60}Co_{13}Zr_1Ti_3Pr_9B_{14}$ alloy were investigated. It was shown that the processing technique affects the magnetization reversal processes. For the nanocrystalline ribbon samples pinning of the domain walls arises at low external magnetic fields while nucleation of reversed domains occurs at higher fields. However, the nucleation fields are lower than the pinning fields for the nanocrystalline rod and tube samples produced by suction-casting technique.

Magnetic texture of amorphous Finemet-type alloys substituted by Co, Ni, Mn, Ge and V was investigated by means of Mössbauer spectroscopy using various angular configurations. Samples in form of ribbons were manufactured by single-roller melt spinning technique. In most of investigated alloys some preference of alignment of atomic magnetic moments in-plane of sample is stated, except of some alloys substituted by germanium in which slight tendency to out-of plane spin orientation is proved.

For the Kittel-Shore-Kac interspin coupling K/N between N Ising spins the ferromagnetic phase transition in specific heat vs. T plot has appeared in literature as a purely mathematical phenomenon, via the exact calculation of the sum of states Z(T) and subsequent differentiations with respect to temperature T. Physical nature of the transition remains in such derivation invisible. As it is expected to be related to the interaction/temperature competition in populating energy levels of the system, in this paper we construct the density of energy states D(E) (or energy spectrum) of such systems, both for the ferromagnetic (K>0) and antiferromagnetic (K<0) coupling between spins. This allows one to see the essence of the difference between these systems as related to the discrete vs. quasi-continuous shape of the spectra at low energy states.

The paper presents studies of time and thermal stability of magnetic properties in $Fe_{61}Co_{10}Y_{8}Nb_{1}B_{20}$ bulk amorphous alloys. The investigated sample was prepared by suction-casting method in the form of plate. The structure was studied using X-ray diffractometry. It was found that alloy was amorphous in the as-cast state. The magnetic properties were determined using completely automated set up for measurement of susceptibility and its disaccommodation. The disaccommodation curve was decomposed into three elementary processes, each of them was described by Gaussian distribution of relaxation times. From fit of theoretical curve the peak temperature, intensity at peak temperature, average activation energies, distribution parameter and pre-exponential factor of the Arrhenius law were determined. The obtained results indicate that the disaccommodation phenomenon in studied samples is related with directional ordering of atom pairs near the free volumes.

In case of Ta-addition, mechanical alloying resulted in formation of two component material with nanocrystalline phase embedded in amorphous matrix. On the other hand, substitution of Ta by W retards partial amorphization induced by mechanical alloying. High pressure-temperature stability of both alloys was monitored using in situ energy dispersive X-rays.

It is shown that annealing under stress of FINEMET-type metallic glass ribbon (FeCuNbSiB) induces magnetic anisotropy of an easy-plane type (cross-section of the ribbon). This conclusion has been drawn analyzing experimental results obtained by means of Kerr-effect (domain structure) and Mössbauer spectroscopy operating in the so-called "magic angle" configuration which allows us to calculate all three spatial components of magnetization. Additionally, it is also shown that no crystallographic texture is created in the sample after stress-annealing, the feature which would have been an origin of the observed anisotropy.
