Opis:
Two sets of $Fe_{52-x}Co_{x}Pt_{28}B_{20}$ (x=0-26 at.%) and $Fe_{60-x}Co_{x}Pt_{25}B_{15}$ (x=0-40 at.%) alloys were prepared in the form of ribbons by the rapid quenching technique. Structure of the samples was characterized by Mössbauer spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. In the as-quenched alloys the amorphous phase coexisted with the fcc-(Fe,Co)Pt disordered solid solution. Differential scanning calorimetry measurements performed in the range 50-720 °C revealed one or two exothermal peaks. The magnetically hard ordered $L1_{0}$ (Fe,Co)Pt and magnetically soft $(Fe,Co)_{2}B$ nanocrystalline phases were formed due to thermal treatment of the alloys. The influence of Co content on the structure of the as-quenched and heated alloys was studied.

Microstructure by the Mössbauer spectroscopy and approach to magnetic saturation in the bulk amorphous $Fe_{61}Co_{10}Me_7Y_2B_{20}$ ($Me_7$=$Y_7$, $Y_6Ti_1$ or $Zr_{2.5}Hf_{2.5}W_2$) alloys are investigated. The bulk amorphous $Fe_{61}Co_{10}Zr_{2.5}Hf_{2.5}W_2Y_2B_{20}$ alloy exhibits the best thermal stability and remains amorphous up to 901 K. Moreover, the quasi-dislocations dipoles present in this amorphous alloy have the largest width equal to 6.7 nm. After annealing this alloy below the crystallization temperature the enhancement of both the average hyperfine field and its standard deviation is observed which points to the increase in the atom packing density due to the decay of quasi-dislocation dipoles. After the annealing at 901 K the small amount of the crystalline α-FeCo phase is presented in this alloy. The same crystalline phase appears in the bulk $Fe_{61}Co_{10}Y_8Ti_1B_{20}$ and $Fe_{61}Co_{10}Y_9B_{20}$ alloys after annealing at 750 K and 840 K, respectively.

Opis:
The current status of the Mössbauer investigations of the soft magnetic nanocrystalline alloys produced by utilizing the first step of crystallization of the amorphous alloys such as FeCuNbSiB and FeZrBCu is reviewed. Conventional Mössbauer measurements allow the identification of phases formed due to annealing of the amorphous precursor and the evaluation of their relative content. The unconventional rf-Mössbauer technique, in which the rf collapse and sideband effects are employed, permits us to distinguish the magnetically soft nanocrystalline bcc-Fe phase from the magnetically harder microcrystalline Fe. Qualitative information concerning the distribution of anisotropy fields in the nanocrystalline grains can be inferred from the dependence of the rf collapsed spectra on the rf field intensity. The rf-sidebands effect reveals strong reduction of magnetostriction due to the formation of the nanocrystalline phase. The rf-Mössbauer technique provides a unique opportunity to study the microstructure and magnetic properties of each phase formed in the amorphous precursor.

The validity of the Steinmetz law $(P=K B^{n})$ has been analyzed using the tanh model, by splitting the minor loops in three or two components, corresponding to different magnetization processes at different excitation levels. It is shown that the original Steinmetz law with the exponent n=1.6 is valid only at and above the coercive field, for intermediate and high induction values, where all the three magnetization processes are present. At small magnetization levels the exponent is about 3, much higher than the original proposed value.

We have studied the effect of annealing conditions on magnetic properties of amorphous CoFeNi-based glass-coated microwires. We show that annealing can be very effective for manipulation the magnetic properties of amorphous ferromagnetic glass-coated microwires. Low coercivity and high giant magnetoimpedance (GMI) effect have been observed in as-prepared Co-rich microwires. After annealing of Co-rich microwires we can observe transformation of inclined hysteresis loops into rectangular and coexistence of fast magnetization switching and GMI effect in the same sample. We demonstrate that the switching field value of microwires can be tailored by annealing in the range from 4 to 200 A/m.

In this work we studied influence of time and temperature of stress annealing on magnetic properties of amorphous Co-based and CoFeNi-based microwires. We showed that this type of treatment can be very effective for manipulation of magnetic properties of amorphous ferromagnetic glass-coated microwires. Co-based microwires keep S-shape hysteresis loop after any annealing. Annealing of Co-based microwires at different conditions allows tailoring of the saturation field. CoFeNi-based microwires present either S-shape or rectangular shape of the hysteresis loops depending on the value of the axial stress during the annealing. We demonstrated the possibility to change the switching field of microwires with acquired bistability in the range from 0.5 to 25 A/m.

Opis:
Soft magnetic composite materials play an important role in nowadays industry, replacing the traditional materials such as electrical steels and soft ferrites, especially at medium and higher frequency applications. The material can be tailored for a specific application by changing the composition of the material and by adaptation of the fabrication process. The aim of this work was to investigate the morphology, phase composition and magnetic properties of soft magnetic composite materials with various magnetic content to minimize the total magnetic losses. The prepared sample series was based on the mixture of two different ferromagnets Vitrovac 6155 and Somaloy 700 without addition of insulating material. The samples were prepared by conventional powder metallurgy with particular fraction of Vitrovac in the form of a ring for magnetic measurements in AC fields and electric resistivity measurements. The samples with 5 wt% and 20 wt% fractions of Vitrovac exhibit lower values of total losses in comparison with Somaloy heat treated at 530°C.

Opis:
The combined conversion electron emission and γ-transmission Mössbauer spectroscopy are used to investigate the differences in the bulk and surface crystallization of the amorphous FeZrB alloy in which the nanocrystalline bcc-Fe phase was formed due to annealing. The measurements were performed for the ribbons in the as-quenched state, after 1 h annealing at 430-600°C and after short time annealing at 600°C. The clear differences in the surface and bulk crystallization behaviours were detected. Not only the surface crystallization starts at lower annealing temperature than the bulk one, but additional phases were detected at the surface which do not form in the bulk. Structural transformations as a function of annealing time (15-120 s) are compared with those induced by 1 h anneals. The enhanced surface crystallization was attributed to the boron depletion of the surface region which leads to the decrease in the crystallization temperature at the surface.

This paper presents studies of the bulk amorphous alloys: $Fe_{60} Co_{10} Mo_2 Y_{8} B_{20}$ and $Fe_{60} Co_{10} Mo_2 W_1 Y_8 B_{19}$; Both compounds were obtained by means of the injection-casting method in which liquid alloy is forced under pressure into a copper mould. The structure of the samples was studied using X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. Based on the results of the X-ray diffraction studies, it was found that the samples were in the amorphous state. Scanning electron microscopy image analysis of fractured alloy samples indicated the presence of areas of varying degrees of relaxation: "smooth", "vein", and "flake" fractures. The manufactured ferromagnetic samples were characterized by so-called soft magnetic properties with a relatively high Curie temperature of more than 520 K. In the investigated samples, the saturation magnetization was found to have been decreased from 1.14 T to 1.13 T after the addition of W. Tungsten also contributed significantly to an increase in the value of the coercive field, from 27 A/m to 8685 A/m. Following the addition of just 1% of W to the alloy, a substantial change was observed in the form: of the static magnetic hysteresis loop: characterized by the so-called "wasp" shape. This result shows that an additional magnetically hard phase had appeared within the sample.

In the present work the microstructure and thermomagnetic properties of Fe₈₀Zr₇Cr₆Nb₂Cu₁B₄ ribbon in the as-quenched state and after the accumulative annealing in the temperature range 600-800 K for 10 min were studied using Mössbauer spectroscopy and vibrating sample magnetometry. The second order phase transition from ferro- to paramagnetic state is observed. The Curie temperature T_{C} defined as inflection point on the magnetization versus temperature curve recorded on zero-field cooled mode equals 262.5 K for the as-quenched material. With increasing the annealing temperature increase of T_{C} is observed. The maximum value of the magnetic entropy change (-ΔS) observed in the vicinity of the Curie point is equal to 0.85 J/(kg K) for the alloy in the as-quenched state. Moreover, for the samples annealed up to 750 K for 10 min the low intensity maximum at about 190 K related to the supplementary magnetic phase is observed. The presence of this phase was confirmed as additional component visible on hyperfine field distributions of Mössbauer spectra.

In order to obtain an alloy with a specific set of magnetic properties, the dominant influences of chemical component and thermal treatment selection need to be satisfied. In this paper, the results of investigations into the microstructure and magnetic properties of the following alloys are presented: amorphous Fe₈₂Zr₇Nb₂Cu₁B₈ and crystalline Fe₈₂Zr₆Y₁Nb₂Cu₁B₈. The structure and microstructure were examined using the Mössbauer spectroscopy and X-ray diffractometry. The Fe₈₂Zr₇Nb₂Cu₁B₈alloy was found to be fully amorphous in the as-quenched state and the transmission Mössbauer spectrum for this alloy is typical of that for weak ferromagnets, with an average hyperfine field of 9.86(2) T. The shape of this spectrum was found to have changed noticeably in the case of the Fe₈₂Zr₆Y₁Nb₂Cu₁B₈ alloy. This change was attributed to the presence of the crystalline phase bcc-Fe.

Opis:
The ferromagnetic Fe-based amorphous alloys have been studied due to the attractive properties for soft magnetic applications. Depending on different Nb concentration, we studied the formation of crystalline phases in annealed samples of amorphous metallic alloys for $Fe_{80-x}B₂₀Nbₓ$ (x=0, 4, 10). The nature of the crystallization products as well as the phase structure were determined by using the Mössbauer spectrometry combined with X-ray diffraction and differential scanning calorimetry results. Substitution of Fe atoms by Nb lead to significant changes in hyperfine magnetic field $(B_{hf})$ distributions in as-quenched amorphous alloys $Fe_{80-x}B₂₀Nbₓ$, for x=10 the minimal value of $B_{hf}$ is observed. Addition of this element causes shift of crystallization process towards higher temperatures and induces formation of phase complex including the α -Fe, Fe₂B and Fe₃B. Combination of X-ray diffraction and Mössbauer spectroscopy is very useful method in studying the structural environment of Fe atoms on a nearest-neighbor length scale.
