Opis:
The CO/Pt/Ru(0001) interface has been re-examined, in great detail, by photoelectron spectroscopy of high resolution under UHV conditions. The Ru(0001) substrate has been modified by platinum at coverages less than corresponding to the one, saturated, Pt overlayer, with no Pt/Ru intermixing. The analysis of the extent to which different regions of the photoelectron spectrum allow a detailed characterization of the interface is presented. The CO adsorption displays interaction with two separate phases: the Pt(111) face and the Ru(0001) surface.

Opis:
$Y_{3}Al_{5}O_{12}$ (YAG) single crystals doped with vanadium ions $(V^{3+})$ were obtained by the Czochralski method. The X-ray photoelectron spectra of YAG:V annealed in reducing atmospheres: $H_{2}$, vacuum and $H_{2}$ + vacuum are presented and compared with the spectra of the YAG ceramics. The X-ray photoelectron spectra showed that the vanadium dopant concentration in YAG:V crystals is lower than a nominal one. For the "as grown" YAG:2.8at.%V crystal vanadium exists in the mixed valence state. The increase in lattice parameters for the samples annealed in hydrogen was found.

Opis:
The electronic structure of Yb implanted ZnO has been studied by the resonant photoemission spectroscopy. The contribution of the Yb 4f partial density of states is predominant at binding energy about 7.5 and ≈11.7 eV below the VB maximum. At photon energy about 182 eV the multiplet structure around 11.7 eV shows the strongest resonance that corresponds to the ¹I multiplet which is almost exclusively responsible for this resonance, while ³H and ³F states are responsible for the resonance around 7.5 eV. It was also found that the Yb 4f partial density of states distribution shows some similarity to Yb₂O₃.

Opis:
A free photon Hamiltonian is linearized using Pauli's matrices. Based on the correspondence of Pauli's matrices kinematics and the kinematics of spin operators, it has been proved that a free photon integral of motion is a sum of orbital momentum and spin momentum for a half-one spin. Linearized Hamiltonian represents a bilinear form of products of spin and momentum operators. Unitary transformation of this form results in an equivalent Hamiltonian, which has been analyzed by the method of Green's functions. The evaluated Green function has given possibility for interpretation of photon reflection as a transformation of photon to antiphoton with energy change equal to double energy of photon and for spin change equal to Dirac's constant. Since photon is relativistic quantum object the exact determining of its characteristics is impossible. It is the reason for series of experimental works in which photon orbital momentum, which is not integral of motion, was investigated. The exposed theory was compared to the mentioned experiments and in some elements the satisfactory agreement was found.
